AZAAN~~~


Azaan is the first call to prayer for Muslims. It is first given when a child is born.

After the child is given a bath, an elderly member of the family or neighbourhood, or the moulvi, is invited to recite the azaan. He recites the azaan in the child's right ear and the Iqamat in the left ear.

For the Iqamat, the words Qad qamatissalah are recited twice at the end, asking the person to stand up since prayer is about to begin.

The reason why the azaan is recited to the child is that as soon as he is born, the first thing he should hear is God's name and the call for His worship.

At this time, a tiny bit of a date chewed by the elder of the family or community is placed in the child's mouth, signifying the hope that the child would absorb the good qualities of the elder.

At the end of the recital of the azaan, sweets are distributed among those present at the occasion.

The custom of reciting azaan to a newborn child was started by Prophet Mohammed.

The azaan is also routinely given from mosques, as a general call for Muslims to assemble for prayer....

हम सब साथ-साथ रहते हैं, एक-दूसरे से मिलते-जुलते हैं, व्यापार करते हैं और आपसी मसलों पर विचार करते हैं यानी किसी न किसी तरह से हम एक-दूसरे के संपर्क में आते हैं। लेकिन यह सच है कि हम एक-दूसरे के धर्म के बारे में सही-सही ज्ञान नहीं रखते और सच जानने की कोशिश भी नहीं करते।

इस भय से कि कहीं आपसी संपर्क घृणा, द्वेष व मनमुटाव में न बदल जाए। मतलब यह कि धर्म हमारे ज्ञान, हमारे व्यवहार से कहीं अधिक हमारी भावना से जुड़ गया है। वास्तव में अजान अल्लाह के बंदों को अल्लाह की इबादत अर्थात नमाज के लिए बुलावा है। अजान 'अरबी' शब्द है जिसका अर्थ है- बुलाना, पुकारना, ऐलान करना। अजान को अल्लाह की पुकार भी कहा जाता है।

अजान देने वाले को 'मुअज्जिन' कहते हैं। मुअज्जिन नियमित रूप से दिन में पाँच बार अजान देता है और दिनचर्या में व्यस्त लोगों को भले काम के लिए बुलाता है। अजान देने वाला व्यक्ति वुजू करके पाक होकर अजान देता है ताकि सीना ठीक से फैल जाए और अजान के शब्द शुद्ध रूप से निकले। इन शब्दों का अर्थ इस प्रकार है- सर्वप्रथम मुअज्जिन चार बार 'अल्लाहो अकबर' यानी अल्लाह सबसे बड़ा है, कहता है।

इसके बाद वह दो बार कहता है, 'अशहदो अल ला इलाह इल्लल्लाह' अर्थात मैं गवाही देता हूँ कि अल्लाह के सिवा कोई पूज्य नहीं है। फिर दो बार कहता है 'अशहदु अन-ना मुहम्मदर्रसूलुल्लाह' जिसका अर्थ है- मैं गवाही देता हूँ कि हजरत मुहम्मद अल्लाह के रसूल (उपदेशक) हैं। फिर मुअज्जिन दाहिनी ओर मुँह करके दो बार कहता है 'हय-या अललसला' अर्थात आओ नमाज की ओर। फिर दाईं ओर मुँह करके दो बार कहता है, 'हय-या अलल फलाह' यानी आओ कामयाबी की ओर।

इसके बाद वह सामने (पश्चिम) की ओर मुँह करके कहता है 'अल्लाहो अकबर' अर्थात अल्लाह सबसे बड़ा है। अंत में एक बार 'ला इलाह इल्लल्लाह' अर्थात अल्लाह के सिवा कोई पूज्य नहीं है। फजर यानी भोर की अजान में मुअज्जिन एक वाक्य अधिक कहता है 'अस्सलात खैरूम मिनननौम' अर्थात नमाज नींद से बेहतर है।
