SAISEVAK9JI THANK U SO MUCH FOR UR PRAYERS... MAY BABA BLESS... HERE ARE SUM MORE INSPIRATIONAL STORIES............

    The Rose Within

A certain man planted a rose and watered it faithfully and before it blossomed, he examined it.
He saw the bud that would soon blossom, but noticed thorns upon the stem and he thought, “How can any beautiful flower come from a plant burdened with so many sharp thorns? Saddened by this thought, he neglected to water the rose, and just before it was ready to bloom… it died.

So it is with many people. Within every soul there is a rose. The God-like qualities planted in us at birth, grow amid the thorns of our faults. Many of us look at ourselves and see only the thorns, the defects.
We despair, thinking that nothing good can possibly come from us. We neglect to water the good within us, and eventually it dies. We never realize our potential.

Some people do not see the rose within themselves; someone else must show it to them. One of the greatest gifts a person can possess is to be able to reach past the thorns of another, and find the rose within them.
This is one of the characteristic of love — to look at a person, know their true faults and accepting that person into your life; all while recognizing the nobility in their soul. Help others to realize they can overcome their faults. If we show them the “rose” within themselves, they will conquer their thorns. Only then will they blossom many times over.

  • The Vision of a Prayer

A Christian monk earnestly prayed that a vision of Jesus Christ might be revealed to him. After praying for many hours, the monk heard a voice telling him the visionwould occur the next morning at daybreak. Before the first rays of dawn appeared the following morning, the monk was on his knees at the altar.

A fierce storm was brewing, but the monk paid it no heed. He watched and prayed and waited for the vision. As the storm broke in great fury, a soft knock came at the door. Interrupted in his devotions, the monk turned away from the altar to open the door. He knew some poor wayfarer was seeking shelter from the raging storm. As he turned toward the door, he caught a glimpse of the vision for which he had prayed.

Torn between his desire to stay and experience the vision—one that he felt would last but for a moment—and his desire to help a brother in distress, the monk quickly decided that duty must come first. Upon opening the door, he gazed into the bright blue eyes of a small child who had apparently lost her way. She was tired, shivering from the cold, and hungry.

The monk gently reached out his hand and led the child into the warm room. He placed a bowl of milk and some fresh bread before her and did everything he could think of to make her comfortable. Warm, fed, and comfortable, the child fell asleep in a chair.

Then, with a heavy heart, he turned back toward his altar, fearing that the vision had vanished. To his joy and surprise, it was there—clear and bright and shining with radiant glory! As the monk gazed rapturously upon the precious vision for a long time, he heard a voice gently speak: “If thou had not attended to my little one, I could not have stayed.”

  • Grow Great by Dreams

The question was once asked of a highly successful businessman: “How have you done so much in your lifetime?”
He replied, “I have dreamed. I have turned my mind loose to imagine what I wanted to do. Then I have gone to bed and thought about my dreams. In the night I dreamt about my dreams. And when I awoke in the morning, I saw the way to make my dreams real. While other people were saying, ‘You can’t do that, it isn’t possible,’ I was well on my way to achieving what I wanted.”

As Woodrow Wilson, 28th President of the U.S., said: “We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers. They see things in the soft haze of a spring day, or in the red fire on a long winter’s evening. Some of us let these great dreams die, but others nourish and protect them; nourish them through bad days until they bring them to the sunshine and light which comes always to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true.”

  • A story on appreciation - Inspirations by Sudhir Krishnan

One young academically excellent person went to apply for a managerial position in a large corporation. He passed the first interview, and the director who did the last interview round, deliberated over the decision to hire him. The director discovered from the CV that the youth’s academic achievements were excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research, never had a year when he did not score.

The director asked, “Did you obtain any scholarships in the school?”, the youth answered “None”.

The director asked, “Was it your father who paid for your school fees?”, The youth answered, “My father passed away when I was one year old, it was my mother who paid for my school fees.

The director asked, “Where did your mother work?”, The youth answered, ”My mother washes clothes for a li iving". The director requested the youth to show his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect.

The director asked, “Have you ever helped your mother wash the clothes before?”, The youth answered, “Never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books. Furthermore, My mother can wash clothes faster than me.

The director said, “I have a request. When you go back today, go and clean your mother’s hands, and then see me tomorrow morning.”

The youth felt that his chance of landing the job was high. When he went back, he happily requested his mother to let him clean her hands. His mother felt strange, happy but with mixed feelings, she showed her hands to the kid. The youth cleaned his mother’s hands slowly. His tear fell as he did that. It was the first time he noticed that his mother’s hands were so wrinkled, and there were so many bruises in her hands. Some bruises were so painful that his mother shivered when they were cleaned with water.

This was the first time the youth realized that it was this pair of hands that washed the clothes everyday to enable him to pay the school fee. The bruises in the mother’s hands were the price that the mother had to pay for his graduation, academic excellence and his future. After finishing the cleaning of his mother hands, the youth quietly washed all the remaining clothes for his mother.

That night, mother and son talked for a very long time. Next morning , the youth went to the director’s office. The director noticed the tears in the youth’s eyes, asked: can you tell me what have you done and learned yesterday in your house?”

The youth answered, “I cleaned my mother’s hand, and also finished cleaning all the remaining clothes”

The Director asked, “ please tell me your feelings.”

    The youth said,

    1. I know now what is appreciation. Without my mother, there would not be the successful me today.
    2. By working together and helping my mother, Only I now realize how difficult and tough it is to get something done.
    3. I have come to appreciate the importance and value of family and relationship.

The director said, “ This is what I am looking for to be manager. I want to recruit a person who can appreciate the help of others, a person who knows the sufferings of others to get things done, and a person who would not put money as his only goal in life. You are hired.

As time went by, this young person worked very hard, and received the respect of his subordinates. Every employee worked diligently and as a team. The company’s performance improved tremendously.

    The lesson:

A child who has been protected and habitually given whatever he wanted, would develop a sense of entitlement, and would always put himself first. He would be ignorant of his parents efforts. When he starts a career, he would assume that every person must listen to him, and when he becomes a manager, may not appreciate the pains of his fellow employees and would have a tendency to blame others. Are we really serving our children by not helping them learn to appreciate of what they have?

You can let your child live in a big house, eat a good meal, learn piano, watch a big screen TV. However, when you are cutting grass, let them also experience it. After a meal, let them wash their plates and bowls together with their brothers and sisters. It is not because you do not have money to hire a maid, but because you want to love them in a right way. The most important thing is that the child learns how to appreciate the effort involved in any work and to be grateful for what he has been given, and learn to be a team player.

  • The nature of God and His creation, as explained in the Mundaka Upanishad.

As a spider spreads out and withdraws its web, as on earth grow the herbs and trees, and as a living man issues out hair, so does the Universe emerge here from God.
    -Mundaka Upanishad

    Commentary by Sudhir Krishnan

The above famous verse in the Mundaka Upanishad attempts to  explain the nature of God and His creation with metaphors. The first question that might arise in a student is “We say that that God is Love and that He is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient”. If that is the case, how is it this universe, which apparently He created, is totally different from His nature? The Upanishad answers - “Just as the spider creates a web from its body, and also withdraws it unto itself, so has the Universe emerged out of God”.  The nature of the God the creator and the nature of the universe the created is different, just like the nature of the web that the spider spins out is different from the nature of the spider. Like the spider’s web, everything that is created springs out, remains in, and finally goes back to Him.

The above answer  may satisfy some students. Some others may however ask “The spider weaves the web in order to catch it's prey. Similarly, has God also created the universe to satisfy His own desires?” To answer this question, a second metaphor is given “Just as the trees grow on the earth, so does the universe spring out of God”. The trees out of their desire to grow, use the soil as a nutrient. The soil is totally indifferent to which type of plants grows on it - it supports fruit tres as well as weeds equally. Through this metaphor, the teacher attempts to explain that unlike the spider which desires prey, God has not created this Universe out of his selfish desire. He is desire-less and supports all of His creation equally, just like the soil supports all kinds of trees and shrubs without any specific desire that a farmer might have. Thus it is we who use Him to satisfy our desires, and not Him that created this universe with a desire to satisfy himself.

While the second metaphor may clear the doubt of the student regarding the desireless-ness of God in His creation, another doubt may arise now. The soil is inert, and does not have any life of its own. Just as the trees are living on the inert soil, is it that God also is inert like the soil from which trees spring? Are we like the trees just using God as a soil, and that He himself is inert, lacking an enlivening principle of His own? This question is answered by the third metaphor. “Just as a living man issues out hair, so does the Universe emerge from God”. A living man has hair all over his body. Once he dies, although the hair is present, they can no longer grow. Just as the life in the man is needed for the hair to grow, in the same way it is the power of God that is responsible for all life that we see. Without Him there is no life - He is the enlivening principle, He is like the electricity without which no electrical appliance will function.

  • God has given each of us the ability to do certain things well.

God has given each of us the ability to do certain things well.
    -Romans 12:6 (The Living Bible)

    Commentary by Sudhir Krishnan

Each of us come with unique talents, gifts and skills.  Some people are natural athletes, others may excel in marketing, engineering or sales, some excel in the arts, yet others make excellent teachers, managers or administrators. Whatever the  talents we are bestowed with, these are areas that other people may find difficult or uninteresting, but we can do it naturally and effortlessly and are deeply passionate about it. No one can do everything well - however each one of us can do certain things very well. The key to living with passion lies in figuring out what our passion is, and then following your heart.

Often times, people look to peers and mentors for guiding them towards understanding their own purpose. While it is good to take the opinion of others for general guidance, what works for peers may not work for us, for the simple fact that each one of us is unique and are here with a unique song to sing. Just because everyone is your family is a doctor,  it does not mean that you are destined to be a doctor as well. It is best to focus on your unique strengths and not get caught up in what does not come naturally to you. To be on purpose means you are doing what you love to do, doing what you are really good at, and accomplishing something that is really important to you.

Unfortunately, many times people take what comes easily to them for granted. Our talents are God's gift to us - it is part of our divine purpose. We need to nurture them to their maximum potential. All our talents are bestowed upon us for the benefit of other - we need to put them to use wisely in service of others. So what keeps us from living the life we are destined to live? At times, we may not know what our purpose is yet, and hence we may need to pay more close attention to what it is that we can do really well. Once we have found our passion, it is important that we believe in ourselves and  get out of our own way so we can settle into what is destined for us. So how do you know you are living your true purpose? When a person is doing what he is truely destined to do, life stops being a constant struggle, it becomes joyful, and it just feels right - in short our best life happens when we are living our purpose.

  • Feeling overwhelmed and helpless? Here are some tips to turn the situation around ...

    Inspirations by Sudhir Krishnan

Often times, life throws challenging situations at us that are beyond our control. Perhaps your relationship with your spouse is becoming worse and you are tired of trying to make it better. Or, you might have been laid off from a job and finding it challenging to meet ends. Perhaps your business is failing and unable to keep up with the competition. Or maybe you are tying to find the right life partner for many years now. In all the above situations, you tried your best to get what you want a number of times, only to encounter disappointment time after time. Now you feel overwhelmed and helpless with the problem at hand, and no longer believe that a solution is possible. Does this sound like you? If so read on.

    Why do we give up?
Failure is painful. No one wants to try again and again just to fail each time. In order to avoid further pain, our mind simply gives up on us. When this happens, one becomes unwilling to attempt anything further as the moment we think about the problem, all the painful thoughts of past failure overwhelms us, and all we are able to do is to give ourselves reasons why any action we take will not succeed.

The good news is that whatever the life situation, we can always turn it around once we decide to make it happen! Here are some tips to orchestrate the turn around:

    1) Believe it is possible to succeed
The only real danger is your belief that there is no solution for your problem - that you are indeed helpless. You need to first remove this belief if you want to make any progress. The fact is that all power to find that solution lies within you - you are just not seeing the solution yet.

    2) Your past is not equal to your future
Your future has got nothing to do with the past. By taking correct action in the present moment, you can create anything you want. Learn from the past but do not get stuck in it.

    3) Practice Persistence
Success takes persistence. People who stick around longer without giving up open themselves to success more than people who give up easily when they fail a few times. Successful people never stop trying.

    4) Do it better each day
While persistence is good, one needs to always look for better ways to solve the same problem. Get creative and see how you can solve the same problem in a better way, that you did not attempt yesterday.

    5) There are no real failures
Each failure is a stepping stone to future success. Failures brings us much needed knowledge and experience that was lacking the last time around. If the correct lessons are learnt and applied from past experiences, success if not far away.

    6) Consult with an expert
It is good to get some fresh ideas from other people who have experience and skill dealing with the challenges you are facing. For example, some relationships that you could not improve by yourself for over a decade can be turned around in a couple of months with help from a skilled relationship coach. The same goes with other areas of life such as your career, health and finances.

    7) Stay positive and appreciative of what you do have
Just because one area of your life is not working the way you want, do not fool yourself into believing that your entire life has gone haywire. When we are focused on what is lacking, we just tend not to pay enough attention to what is working. Practice genuine appreciation of the areas of your life that are doing great. Whatever the situation, each one of us has a lot to be grateful for, that some others may not be blessed with.

    8) Know that this too shall pass
No problem remains forever. Most of us have faced problems that perhaps felt like the end of the world many years back, that hardly cross our mind at this time. With continued right effort, you will find the solution much sooner than you think.
