Title: Unconditional love - A story for parents
Post by: Admin on April 09, 2007, 12:47:39 AM
Some time ago, a friend of mine punished his 4 year old daughter for wasting a roll of gold wrapping paper. Money was tight and he became infuriated when the small child tried to decorate a box to put under the tree. Nevertheless the little girl brought the gift to her father the next morning and said " This is for you Daddy."

He was embarrassed by his earlier over reaction... He opened the box and his anger flared again when he found the box was empty.

Then he yelled at her:

DON'T YOU KNOW when you give someone a present there's supposed to be something inside of it???

The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and said,

Oh Daddy it's not empty, I blew kisses into the box , all for you Daddy.

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little girl, and he begged her for forgiveness. My friend told me that he kept that gold box near his bed for years.

Whenever he was discouraged he would take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there. In a very real sense each of us has been given a gold container filled with unconditional love and kisses.

There is no more precious possession anyone could hold.

K i d s    N e e d    L o v e

A father just came home from work. His son was waiting for him at the door. As he came in, his son asked "How much do you make an hour, daddy?" Being tired from work the man was very angry that his son had asked him this. He said "Your mother doesn't even know that!" "But please daddy, how much do you make an hour?" The man said

"Fine, I make 25$ an hour." Hearing that the son left the room.
After some time, his son came back to him and asked, " Daddy will you please give me 10$?"
But he was too tired to do anything. So he just told his son to leave him alone.

That night he felt bad for the way he treated his little boy. So he got out of bed and went to his
son's room. The boy was still awake. He went over to him and gave him the $10 he had asked
for. Immediately the son picked up his piggybank, took out all the money from it and kept
everything on his daddy's hand. The man didn't understand what's going on, so he asked
his son, "What's the matter son?" His son replied," Daddy I want to buy one hour of your time......."

!~!~! Have you hugged and spent time with your child today? !~!~!

The  Most  Caring   Child

Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge.

The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child.

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.

When his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said,

"Nothing, I just helped him cry."

Here is a story about lord Krishna that will tell us
What true love is about.

Krishna, while living in
Dwarka with his favourite wife Rukmani, would very
Often softly utter to himself, " O Radha… O Radha."

Rukmani felt jealous and asked him why he kept
Remembering Radha so often. Krishna did not say
Anything. He just smiled.

A few days later, Krishna complained of stomach
Ache. Rukmani gave him medicines, but the pain did not
Go away. He kept moaning in pain.

Krishna told her that only a little charanamrita
(blessed water) of a person who truly loved him would
Put an end to his agony. He begged Rukmani to give him
Some of her charanamrita.

A shocked Rukmani refused:
" How can I commit such a terrible sin? You are the
Lord of all that be, and if I gave you my charanamrita
I would surely go to hell."

Krishna than asked Rukmani to send an attendant to
Vrindavan and try and procure some charanamrita from
Someone there. Soon the attendant returned with a
Cupful of charanamrita and as Krishna sipped it, all
The pain disappeared.

He then asked the attendant, " Who gave you this
Charanamrita?" the attendant replied, " no one in
Vrindavan was ready to give it on learning it was for
Lord Krishna.

Then one young woman came running up to
Me and gave me this cup. Her companions cautioned her,
" You fool Radha, you are committing the greatest sin.
But she did not care. She said, "I don't care about
What happens to me but I cannot bear to see my beloved
Krishna in pain ."

Krishna turned to rukmani standing by his side and
Said, " Radha is not afraid of going to hell for me.
She only thinks about me.

So if Radha loves me so
Much, should I also not long for her?"

This is what true love is about. It is
Unconditional.

Lunch With God

A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with a bag of potato chips and a six-pack of root beer and started his journey.

When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old woman. She was sitting in the park, just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old lady looked hungry, so he offered her some chips. She gratefully accepted it and smiled at him.

Her smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered her a root beer. Again, she smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat

There all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word.

As twilight approached, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave; but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the old woman, and gave her a hug. She gave him her biggest smile ever.

When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?" He replied, " I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? She's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!"

Meanwhile, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned to her home. Her son was stunned by the look of peace on her face and he asked, "Mother, what  did you do today that made you so happy?" She replied! "I ate potato chips in the park with God." However, before her son responded, she added, " You know, he's much younger than I expected."

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of

Which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime! Embrace all equally!

Little Girl

Little girl and her father were crossing a bridge. The father was kind
of scared so he asked his little daughter, "Sweetheart, please hold my
hand so that you don't fall into the river."

The little girl said, "No, Dad. You hold my hand."

"What's the difference?" Asked the puzzled father.

"There's a big difference," replied the little girl. "If I hold your hand
and something happens to me, chances are that I may let your hand go.
But if you hold my hand, I know for sure that no matter what happens, you
will never let my hand go."

In any relationship, the essence of trust is not in its bind, but in its
bond. So hold the hand of the person whom you love rather than
expecting them to hold yours...

This story is too short..........but carries a lot of feeling ...

A ROSE FOR MY MOTHER~~~

A man stopped at a flower shop to order some flowers to be wired to his mother who lived two hundred miles away.

As he got out of his car he noticed a young girl sitting on the curb sobbing. He asked her what was wrong and she replied, "I wanted to buy a red rose for my mother. But I only have seventy-five cents, and a rose costs two dollars."

The man smiled and said, "Come on in with me. I'll buy you a rose." He bought the little girl her rose and ordered his own mother's flowers.

As they were leaving he offered the girl a ride home. She said, "Yes, please! You can take me to my mother." She directed him to a cemetery, where she placed the rose on a freshly dug grave.

The man returned to the flower shop, cancelled the wire order, picked up a bouquet and drove the two hundred miles to his mother's house.

Moral~~~

Don't Send Artificial Loves to your parents. Give them the respect and courtesy they desire. They are your most precious Treasure, Care for them. God Forbid, if they leave this world then one can do nothing but regret.

Selfless Love~~~

My wife called, "How long will you be poring over that newspaper? Will you come here and make your darling daughter eat her food?"

I tossed the paper away and rushed to the scene. My only daughter, Sindu, looked frightened. Tears were welling up in her eyes. In front of her was a bowl filled to its brim with Curd Rice.

Sindu is a nice child, quite intelligent for her age. She has just turned eight. She particularly detested Curd Rice. My mother and my wife are orthodox, and believe firmly in the 'cooling effects' of Curd Rice! I cleared my throat, and picked up the bowl.

"Sindu, darling, why don't you take a few mouthfuls of this Curd Rice? Just for Dad's sake, dear? And, if you don't, your Mom will shout at me."

I could sense my wife's scowl behind my back. Sindu softened a bit, and wiped her tears with the back of her hands.

"OK, Dad. I will eat - not just a few mouthfuls, but the whole lot of this. But, you should…" Sindu hesitated, "Dad, if I eat this entire curd Rice, will you give me whatever I ask for?"

Oh sure, darling'.

"Promise?"

"Promise."

I covered the pink soft hand extended by my daughter with mine and clinched the deal.

"Ask Mom also to give a similar promise", my daughter insisted.

My wife slapped her hand on Sindu's, muttering, "Promise", without any emotion.

Now I became a bit anxious.

"Sindu dear, you shouldn't insist on getting a computer or any such expensive items. Dad does not have that kind of money right now. OK?"

"No, Dad. I do not want anything expensive."

Slowly and painfully, she finished eating the whole quantity. I was silently angry with my wife and my mother for forcing my child to eat something that she detested.

After the ordeal was through, Sindu came to me with her eyes wide with expectation. All our attention was on her.

"Dad, I want to have my hair shaved off, this Sunday!' was her demand.

"Atrocious!" shouted my wife, "A girl child having her hair shaved off? Impossible!"

"Never in our family!" my mother rasped. "She has been watching too much television. Our culture is getting totally spoiled with these TV programs!"

"Sindu darling, why don't you ask for something else? We will be sad seeing you with a clean-shaven head."

"No, Dad. I do not want anything else", Sindu said with finality.

"Please, Sindu, why don't you try to understand our feelings?" I tried to plead with her.

"Dad, you saw how difficult it was for me to eat that Curd Rice." Sindu was in tears. "And you promised to grant me whatever I ask for. Now, you are going back on your words. Was it not you who told me the story of King Harishchandra, and its moral that we should honor our promises no matter what?"

It was time for me to call the shots. "Our promise must be kept."

"Are you out your mind?" chorused my mother and wife.

"No. If we go back on our promises, she will never learn to honor her own. Sindu, your wish will be fulfilled."

With her head clean-shaven, Sindu had a round-face, and her eyes looked big and beautiful. On Monday morning, I dropped her at her school. It was a sight to watch my hairless Sindu walking towards her classroom. She turned around and waved. I waved back with a smile.

Just then, a boy alighted from a car, and shouted, "Sinduja, please wait for me!"

What struck me was the hairless head of that boy. Maybe, that is the in-stuff, I thought.

"Sir, your daughter Sinduja is great indeed!"

Without introducing herself, a lady got out of the car and continued.

"That boy who is walking along with your daughter is my son Harish. He is suffering from leukemia." She paused to muffle her sobs. "Harish could not attend school for the whole of the last month. He lost all his hair due to the side effects of the chemotherapy. He refused to come back to school fearing the unintentional but cruel teasing of the schoolmates. Sinduja visited him last week and promised him that she would take care of the teasing issue. But, I never imagined she would sacrifice her lovely hair for the sake of my son! Sir, you and your wife are blessed to have such a noble soul as your daughter."

I stood transfixed and then, I wept.

"My little Angel, you are teaching me how selfless real love is!"

A Mother's Love~~~

A little boy came up to his mother in the kitchen one evening while she was fixing supper, and handed her a piece of paper that he had been writing on. After his Mom dried her hands on an apron, she read it, and this is what it said:

For cutting the grass: $5.00
For cleaning up my room this week: $1.00
For going to the store for you: $.50
Baby-sitting my kid brother while you went shopping: $.25
Taking out the garbage: $1.00
For getting a good report card: $5.00
For cleaning up and raking the yard: $2.00
Total owed: $14.75

Well, his mother looked at him standing there, and the boy could see the memories flashing through her mind. She picked up the pen, turned over the paper he'd written on, and this is what she wrote:

For the nine months I carried you while you were growing inside me:
No Charge

For all the nights that I've sat up with you, doctored and prayed for you:
No Charge

For all the trying times, and all the tears that you've caused through the years:
No Charge

For all the nights that were filled with dread, and for the worries I knew were ahead:
No Charge

For the toys, food, clothes, and even wiping your nose:
No Charge

Son, when you add it up, the cost of my love is:
No Charge.

When the boy finished reading what his mother had written, there were big tears in his eyes, and he looked straight at his mother and said, "Mom, I sure do love you." And then he took the pen and in great big letters he wrote: "PAID IN FULL".

Lessons~~~

You will never how much your parents worth till you become a parent

Be a giver not an asker, especially with your parents. there is a lot to give, besides money.

Advice~~~
IF your mom is alive and close  to you, give her a big kiss and ask her for forgiveness. If she is far away, call her. if she passed away, pray for her
.

A Definition of Unconditional Love~~~
Love without condition~~~

I love you as you are, as you seek to find your own special way to relate to the world, or the way you feel that is right for you. It is important that you are the person you want to be and not someone that I or others think you should be.

I realize that I cannot know what is best for you although perhaps sometimes I think I do. I've not been where you have been, viewing life from that angle you have, I do not know what you have chosen to learn, how you have chosen to learn it, with whom, or in what time period. I have not walked life looking through your eyes, so how can I know what you need.

I allow you to be in the world without a thought or word of judgment from me about the deeds you undertake. I see no error in the things you say and do, in this place where I am. I see that there are many ways to perceive and experience the different facets of our world. I allow without reservation the choices you make in each moment.

I make no judgment of this for if I were to deny your right to evolution, then I would deny that right to myself and all others. To those who would choose a way I cannot walk, whilst I may not choose to add my power and my energy to this way, I will never deny you the gift of love that God has bestowed within me for all creation, as I love you so I shall be loved; as I sow, so I shall reap.

I allow you the universal right of free will to walk your own path, creating steps or to sit a while if that is what is right for you. I will make no judgment of these steps, whether they are large or small, nor light or heavy or that they lead up or down, for this is just my viewpoint. I see you do nothing and might judge it to be unworthy. And yet, it may be that you bring great healing as you stand blessed by the light of God.

I cannot always see the higher picture of divine order. For it is the inalienable right of all life to choose their own evolution and with great love I acknowledge your right to determine your future. In humility I bow to the realization that the way I see is best for me does not have to mean that it is also right for you. I know that you are led as I am following the inner excitement to know your own path.

I know that the many races, religions, customs, nationalities and beliefs within our world bring us great richness and allow us the benefit of teachings of such diverseness. I know we each learn in our own unique way in order to bring that love and wisdom back to the whole. I know that if there were only one way to do something, there would need to be only one person. I will not only love you if you behave in a way I think you should, or believe in those things I believe in. I understand you are truly my brother and sister though you may have been born in a different place and believe in another God than I.

The love I feel is for all of God's world. I know that every living thing is part of God and I feel a love deep within every person, and every tree, and flower, every bird, river, ocean and for all the creatures in all the world. I live my life in loving service being the best me I can, becoming wiser in the perfection of divine truth, becoming happier in the joy of unconditional love.

A story is told about a soldier who was finally coming home after having fought in Vietnam. He called his parents from San Francisco.
"Mom and Dad, I'm coming home, but I've a favor to ask. I have a friend I'd like to bring home with me."

"Sure," they replied, "we'd love to meet him."

"There's something you should know the son continued, "he was hurt pretty badly in the fighting. He stepped on a land mind and lost an arm and a leg. He has nowhere else to go, and I want him to come live with us."

Friends are a very rare jewel, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed They lend an ear, they share a word of praise, and they always want to open their hearts to us.
