    Defination of Yantra

Yantra literally means "instrument". A Yantra is a geometric design acting as a highly efficient tool for contemplation, concentration and meditation. Yantras carry spiritual significance, and point the user to higher levels of consciousness.

The Yantra provides a focal point that is a window into the absolute. When the mind is concentrated on a single, simple object (in this case a Yantra), the mental chatter ceases. Eventually, the object is dropped when the mind can remain empty and silent without help. In the most advanced phases, it is possible to attain union with God by the geometric visualization of a Yantra.

The Yantra is like a microcosmic picture of the macrocosm. It is a focusing point and an outer and inner doorway. The Yantras are often focused on a specific deity and so by tuning into the different Yantras you can tap into certain deities or creative force centers in the universe.

Do yantras have any mystic power?

The mystic power of Yantras has been narrated in many sacred books. Lord Shiva explains to his consort Parvati ,in Mahashiva Puran, that Yantra is as essential to the worship of Gods as a body is essential for a living being and as oil is essential to the oil lamps. A Yantra is helpful in every field of your life, to attain success in your profession, to acquire wealth, peace, goodluck, getting rid of tensions, to win in court cases, to ward off diseases and to progress in meditation. By having a Yantra and keeping it in a sacred place in your house, worshipping it everyday one can fulfil ones desires and attain ones goals.

    Puja of yantras

Every Yantra is active only when it has been energized. Yantras are associated with the five elements of the world and individual Gods and Goddesses. The ancient texts outline a 16 step invocation and pooja ceremony for the energization of Yantras.

The one who performs the invocation ceremony is called the "Sadhaka". He takes flowers in his hands and they are offered to the specific Deva or Devi the Yantra is associated with. The specific Deva or Devi is called the "Ishtadev or Ishta". The following steps are followed:
The first step is called Poorv Poojan where flowers are offered to the deity while reciting the Bija Mantra (specific mantra of the Yantra):

    "Devaye Namah Aavahanam Samarpayam"

Then flowers are offered to the Aasana (The mat on which the Sadhaka is sitting) and the following mantra is recited:

    "Devaya Namah Aasanam Samarpayami"

Water is offered to the deity as a symbol of washing their feet by saying:

    "Devaye Paydam Samarpayami"

Three Achman (purification of the Sadhaka by sprinkling mantra infused water over himself) while reciting

    "Devaye Aaradhye Samarpyami"

Bath is offered to the deity while reciting

    "Devsya Asnanam Samarpayami"

Panch Amrit (a combination of five objects: milk, ghee, curd, honey, ganga jal) bath is offered to the deity with the mantra:

    "Devaye Panchamritasnanam Samarpayami"

Then begins the Utter Pooja where mantras are recited for the clothes and Yagyopaveet thread (sacred white thread also called "Janeu") that the Sadhaka is wearing.

Gandh(Fragrance) is applied to the deity with

    "Devaye Gandh Samarpyami"

    Unbroken rice is offered with

    "Devaye Akshtaan Samarpyami"

Flowers are offered with the recitation of

    "Devaye Pushparni Samarpyami"

Dhoop (Incense) is lighted with the mantra

    "Devaye Dhoopam Samarpyami"

Diya (Lamp) is lit and is offered to the deity with the mantra:

    "Devaye Deepam Samarpyami"

    Fruits are offered while reciting

    "Devaye Naivedyam phalam cha Samrpyami"

Pan Supari (Betel leaf and nut) are offered with

    "Devaye Tambulam Samarpyami"

    For Aarti recite the mantra

    "Devaye Pradakshirnam Samarpyami"

Pradakshina(to walk around the main deity and the Yantra) is done thrice with the recitation of this mantra. The pooja and invocation ceremony are finished by a final offering of the flowers and Namaskar with folded hands and with the final recitation of Bija Mantras with specific desires which need to be fulfilled.

    Puja of Yantras
A Yantra is an instrument, or a talisman or a mystical diagram usually in Copper, Silver, Ashtadhatu, Bhojpatra or on other relegious metals with Silver or Gold Plating. It is a technique or path, considered the simplest and shortest, through which one can attain one's desires, and fulfill one's wishes. It is said that the 'Deities' reside in the Yantras and by performing 'Puja' or worship of Yantras, one can appease them, remove the malefic effects of planets, and increase the flow of positive influences.

As such we do a Primary Puja ( Pran Prathishtha ) of the Yantras that are sent to our valued customers, but we simultaneously recommend that they themselves also perform the following Puja of the Yantra that they have received for getting a maximum benefit.

•Take the water with any leaf from any tree and sprinkle the water on yourself
•followed by sprinkling the water on the Yantra.
•Close your eyes and concentrate on the deity to bless you with wishes. Now with all

    Concept Of Yantra
The Sanskrit word 'Yantra' derives from the root 'yam' meaning to sustain, hold or support the energy inherent in a particular element, object or concept. It is usually composed of an outer geometrical form enclosing interior geometrical designs. Each particular design is used for a specific purpose or intent. In its first meaning, 'Yantra' may refer to any kind of mechanical contrivance, which is harnessed to aid an enterprise. A Yantra in this sense, therefore, is any sort of machine or instrument such as is used in architecture, astronomy, alchemy, chemistry, warfare or recreation.

In Indian culture from Ancient times to achieve happiness, prosperity, long life and good health; there has been quite an important role of Yantra, Tantra and Mantra. These Mystical Diagrams called Yantra are written on Tantra in the form of Gold, Silver, copper, Asthdhatu and Bhoj Patra symbolize different Powers. These Yantra are energized or Pran Pratishthit by using different Mantras of respective Deities. These deities in Yantra then help in achieving Particular task or desire. Yantra are energized by Seed and Tantrik Mantra which give immediate results and help in achieving desired results.

A Sanskrit text of the eleventh century AD, Samarangana Sutradhara on the science of architecture, gives vivid descriptions of the making and operating of such mechanical Yantra as a wooden flying bird, wooden aero planes meant to fly with hot mercury as fuel, male and female robot figures, etc. The meaning of the term Yantra has been expanded to refer to religious enterprises, and has acquired a special theological significance. Mystic Yantra are aids to and the chief instruments of meditative discipline. Basically a Yantra used in this context and for this purpose is an abstract geometrical design intended as a 'tool' for meditation and increased awareness.

    http://www.rudraksham.com/concept-yantra

    Principle Of Yantra
Mystic Yantra are an amalgam of three principles:

    1. The form principle (Akriti-rupa).
    2. The function-principle (Kriya-rupa).
    3. The power-principle (Sakti-rupa).

They are, first of all, believed to reveal the inner basis of the forms and shapes abounding in the universe. Just as, whatever the outer structure, all matter is made of an intrinsic basic unity, the atom, so each aspect of the world can be seen in its structural form as a Yantra. As the scientist sees the final picture of the world in the orderly, simple, atomic structures in which certain primal shapes appear as a harmonized 'whole', so the Indian shilpi-Yogins (makers of ritual art) seek to identify the innermost structure of the universe by concentrating the variegated picture of world-appearances through intense yogic vision into simple form-equations. A Yantra, then, can be considered an ultimate form- equation of a specific energy manifesting in the world. These simple form- equations are held to epitomize the real nature of the cosmos as abstracted from the concrete. In its widest application, Akriti-rupa refers to the inner or hidden form of structures, so that any structure, from an atom to a star, has its Akriti-rupa Yantra. Thus a flower or a leaf has an outer structure which is immediately perceptible, but it also has an inner form, which generally consists of a skeletal framework in which all its linear forms intersect with a central axis or nucleus: all forms have a gross structure and a 'subtle' inner structure, with a basic causal pattern (the inner form) for the external form.

Yantra function as revelatory symbols of cosmic truths and as instructional charts of the spiritual aspect of human experience. All the primal shapes of a Yantra are psychological symbols corresponding to inner states of human consciousness, through which control and expansion of psychic forces are possible. It is for this reason that a Yantra is said to embody a 'function-principle' (Kriya-rupa).

By constant reinforcement in ritual worship the apparently inert Yantra- forms shake off their dormancy and act together as emblems of psychic power. In this case, the Yantra is said to move beyond 'form' and 'function' and emerges as a 'power diagram' (Sakti-rupa). endowed with a self-generating propensity to transform a mundane experience into a psychic one. It is at this point that the Yantra is said to be 'revealed'. Although its outward meaning may be relatively easy to understand, the inner meaning that gives it its efficacy is difficult to grasp because its archetypal forms are basically concerned with the inner facts of psychic experience, gained through intuitive vision.

    http://www.rudraksham.com/energizing-yantra

    Energizing Of Yantra
After purification of Yantra with Panchgavya, Panchamrit and Gangajal; the Yantra is energized / Pran-Pratishthit with respective Mantra. Without Energisation, Yantra is not useful. It has not been kept at home/work place without energisation. It gives otherwise negative rays which results in loss in place of any benefit.

Energizing or Sanitizing Yantra is most important process in Yantra remedy. Puja of the yantras are done by learned purohits, specialised in energising the yantras by the Mantras and Homas. The Puja is done in accordance with the rules and regulations mentioned in the Shastras. The Beej Mantra is recited on the yantra to get it energised.

    http://www.rudraksham.com/guidelines-yantra

    Guidelines for Puja
A Yantra is an instrument, or a talisman or a mystical diagram.

Certain Yantra once energized does not require regular Puja; they remain hidden for whole life. Yantra, which are made on Metal like Gold, silver, copper etc., require regular offerings and Puja. They require regular bathing and offering of scent, rice, flower, jaggery etc. Yantra should be placed Flat on silken yellow cloth on the Alter.

Home -> Vedic Science -> Yantra [Types of Yantra]

    Types of Yantra
There are different types of Yantras for different purposes. They can help you to attain success in your business, bring the person under your control, and bring wealth and prosperity to you. The Yantras have to be purified and energized before using it. Yantras energized during the nights of Maha Shivratri, Holi and Diwali are most effective and powerful. Normally the related Mantras are also chanted in the presence of the Yantras for quick results.

According to Shastras, Yantras are divided into Seven types which are used accordingly.
    1. Sharir Yantra
There are six chakras in the body, through which Kundalini is awakened. There are specific Yantras for each Chakra, which are worn or used accordingly. Each Yantra carries separate mantras, which if recited, indicates different gains. These are called ‘Sharir Yantras’.
    2. Dharn Yantra
As the name indicates, these Yantras are worn on different parts of the body for specific use. They bestow the results when used accordingly. There are several such Yantras and methods.
    3. Asan Yantra
Such Yantras are kept under Aasna at the time of Sadhana. These bears fruits early than other Yantras. These Yantras are placed in temples, in the foundation of houses, used as Devas. Such Yantras are kept under every Deva for early good results.
    4. Mandal Yantra
In this the Sadhakas are made to sit in the shape of Yantras itself. Nine persons take part in it. One sits in the centre, four persons in four directions and others recite other mantras. The Sadhana with this Yanra bears fruit early.
    5. Pooja Yantra
These Yantras are installed in temples and Pooja is performed. Actually these Yantras are of a different devas. Such Yantras are installed in many ways namely:-

    Yantra Meditation

Hang the YANTRA on a wall facing North or East, placing the centre of the YANTRA at the level of your eyes.

Adopt your favourite posture or, if you want, sit on a chair maintaining your spine straight.

Breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth, but do not force at all, just let the breath flow normally.

Look into the centre of the YANTRA, trying to blink as rarely as possible; you don't want to look at the particular details of the YANTRA, just keep your sight right in the centre and observe the whole YANTRA at once.

This exercise should last at least 15-30 minutes every day; the experience will be indescribable.

In time, after at least seven days of YANTRA meditation you will be able to tap into the same yantric energy even without a YANTRA (at the beginning you may fix your sight on an exterior or imaginary point or evoke the YANTRA with your eyes closed)

Do not forget to consecrate the fruits of this practice to God (karma yoga); you should not chase any objective when doing YANTRA meditation, just let it gradually guide you towards the sublime energies of the MACROCOSMOS.

When executing this technique it is recommended that we maintain a state of aspiration and intense longing for experiencing the beatific energies of the consciousness.

In superior phases, the YANTRA absorbs the practitioner's complete attention, and he can no longer tell if the YANTRA is within himself or if he is within the YANTRA; this is the state of non-duality.
