GANAPATI MANTRAS

Ganapati also known as Ganesha, Vighneshvarta or Vighnaharta is easily one of the most popular Hindu Gods no prayer, siddhi or mantra will ever bear fruit if one does not pray to Ganapati first,Ganesha stands for the absolute the all enclosing universal energy or the Para Brahma hence he is also known as the God of all beginnings which in simple terms means the one from which everything began.

Various definitions and qualities are have been attributed to Ganapati which according to me are mearly symbolic in nature and those listed are but a fraction of the limitless qualities of the universal energy of Ganapati.Ganapati in simple terms means the unfragmented sum total of all the energies in existence hence it is rightly said that no puja of any kind whatsoever will ever succeed if one does not first pray to the absolute which is Ganesha.

Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha

Ganapati can be prayed or meditated on at any time of the day or night on rules or methods ever apply when one thinks of the absolute Ganesha he is beyond methods ,you have to remember always to pray first to Ganesha and then pray for whatever you are praying for.

Here I am listing below some of the various Ganesh mantras

वक्रतुंड महाकाय सूर्यकोटिसमप्रभ।
निर्विघ्नं कुरु मे देव सर्वकार्येषु सर्वदा॥

"Vakratunda Mahaakaaya Suryakotee Sama Prabha
Nirvighnam kuru mey Deva, Sarva kaaryeshu Sarvadaa’’

This means Ganapati of limitless body and curved trunk{curved trunk stands for what encloses the universe} with the brilliance of millions of suns make my life free from obstacles of all kinds.

ॐ श्रीगणेशाय नमः

‘’Aum Shri Ganeshaya Namah’’

This is the mantra which you chant before you begin any new venture, havan, puja or any new beginning in life which symbolizes that you first pray to the absolute and then start your new projects.

ऊँ गं गणपतये नम:

‘’Aum Gan Ganapatye Namah’’

This is the beej or root mantra which is very important for yogis, sadakas in their quest to acquire spiritual powers from the universal source they have to first pray to the universal energy of Ganesha and then on what they wish to acquire to succeed.

‘’ Aum Vakratundaya Hum’’

This is the mantra to chant when you feel that there are obstacles in your way and everything in your life has come to a standstill and things are not going you way.The chanting of this mantra helps you overcome delays.

‘’Aum Kshipra Prasadaya Namah’’

This is a very powerful mantra to chant when you sense that you are being surrounded by negative forces and are in danger this mantra purifies the negative energy and free you from danger.

AUM shrim gam saubhaagya ganpataye
Nirvighnam kuru mey Deva, Sarva kaaryeshu Sarvadaa’’

This is the mantra for asking Ganeshas blessings to acquire wealth and prosperity and for the enjoyment of the worldly pleasures of life including good health and energy.

‘’Om ekadantaya viddhamahe
vakratundaya dhimahi
tanno danti pracodayat.’’

This is the mantra to chant when one wants to acquire intelligence and seek higher knowledge and wisdom. One dwells on the infinite and acquires with his blessings a drop of the limitless intelligence present in him.

I wish to to bring to the notice of my readers that when one chants these mantras one should do so keeping in mind the universal and unfragmented energy of the absolute Ganesha, all your wishes and aspirations will be fulfilled and you will be blessed with a new zest and energy.

Ganesh mantra for fulfillment of worldly desires

Shri Ganesh the popular and loved God in India is worshipped in a total of 32 forms or manifestations.

Each of these forms has profound spiritual significance attached to it.

The Ucchista Ganesha form of Ganesha is one of these 32 forms; it is I have noted not a commonly worshipped form of Ganesha.

This form is said to be the world form of the householder with all its wants and desires. This form forms a part of some Tantrik rituals. It is mainly worshipped for the fulfillment of worldly desires, like unfulfilled Sexual desires.

However the worship of Ganesh is Satvik [pure] hence I am of the opinion that even the worship for fulfillment of such wants like sex or husband wife relations, is Satvik worship.

Om Ksham Kshim Hreem Hroom Hraim Hramah Ucchhistaya Swaha

The Mantra given here is for the fulfillment of worldly desires. The reciter of this mantra must have a clear cut image in his mind about the unfulfilled desire which he wants to be fulfilled.

The dedicated disciples of Ganesha need not despair, if some of their work has been unnecessarily blocked; due to no conceivable reason. Ganesha has solutions for all problems.

The Ganesh Bhakts are one of a kind; they mostly go about life in a straight forward and honest manner. This is so because the worship of Ganesha is Satvik [pure] in nature.

Ganesh Mantra for mental peace

Ganesha. like the infinite qualities attributed to him; is known and addressed by a 1000 names if one has a look at the Ganesh Sahasranamavali. Each of these names is symbolic of some particular quality. Ganesha devotees chant these names for a variety of purposes.

All these 1000 names 12 are said to be of particular importance and are widely chanted by the Ganesha devotees.

The name Gajanana which figures in the list of the 12 names is descriptive of the “Elephant like face of Ganesha”.The Elephant symbolizes vastness and largeness; on a deeper spiritual level infinity. Hence this name of Ganesha is symbolic of infinity; Ganesha on the highest level stands for the Ever- Existent infinite.

The name Gajanana is particularly popular in the state of Maharashtra where Ganesha is unarguably the most popular and the most worshipped of all the Hindu deities.

Ganesh Mantra for mental peace

Shri Gajanan Jai Gajanan

The Ganesh mantra given below is chant of Gajanana. The chant a remembrance of the highest infinite state symbolized by Ganesha is said to bring in strong vibrations of mental peace. Hence this Mantra is recommended to be recited 108 times daily by those seeking mental peace.

I salute that remover of obstacles,Who has modakas in his handWho always bestows salvationWho wears a part of moon on his headWho protects this world which is varied,Who is the leader of those who cannot be lead,Who is the cause of destruction of asuras,And who destroys all things which are not good.
I bow before that great Lord permanently,Who creates fear in the enemies of his devotees,Who sparkles like the just risen Sun,Who is saluted by Gods and AsurasWho destroys obstacles of his devotees,Who is the God of all devas,Who is the God of all wealth,Who is the God of all elephants,And who is the leader of the army of Lord Shiva.
I bow to that Ganapati who shines like the Sun,Who bestows peace to all the worlds,Who removed the Gajamukhasura from this world,Who has a very big paunch,Who has an elephant-face which blesses,And who is the one who shows kindnessWho is tolerantWho is full of blessing,And who showers great fame,To those who salute Him.
I salute the very ancient elephant-godWho destroys the wants of the have nots,Who has been worshipped since ancient times,Who is the eldest son of the lord who destroyed cities,Who eats away the pride of the enemies of the gods,Who is awesome at the time of final deluge,Who wears serpents like Dananjaya as ornaments,And who is fierce like the elephant in rut.
I always meditate only on that God with single tusk,,Who is ever lustrous tusk is very pretty,Who is the son of Lord who killed the god of death,Who has a form beyond ones imagination,Who is endless,Who tears asunder all obstacles,And who dwells forever in the heart of Yogis ,Like the season of spring.
Phala Sruti
He, who remembers with respect every morning,These five gems of the great Lord Ganapati,And who meditates in his heart the leader of ganas,Will soon be blessed with a healthy life,Free of all problems, endowed with great peaceGreat sons, longevity and spiritual and physical wealth

Ganesh Prarthana

Today the 7th February 2011  is Ganesh Jayanti the day which is celebrated as the birth day of Shri.Ganesh.This jayanti falls on Magha Shukla Paksha Chaturthi, or the fourth day in the month of Magha according to the Hindu calendar.

On this occasion I have composed a short prayer or Prarthana dedicated to Shri Ganesh. This is a short prayer which is easy for everyone to recite, especially for those of you who find it difficult to recite and pronounce lengthy Chalisas and Stotras. It is not important how much you pray but how you pray. Wishing a happy Ganesh Jayanti to all.

Meaning

I salute you, the one having a divine body l
I salute you the destroyer of ignorance l
I salute you the remover of all sorrows l
I salute you son of shakti l

Ganesh Prarthana - 2

This is a short Prarthana or prayer in the Marathi language which is recited in praise of Ganesha or Ganapati. This is normally a part of a longer prarthana which is very popular and recited in praise of various deities.

Here I have taken only the first verse as I feel it is sufficient as the entire devotion of the worshipper is signified in this verse, also it makes the prayer easy to recite everyday and the worshipper does not get tired by monotonous repetitions.

Meaning

I prostrate and salute your feet l
My eyes will drink in your beauty l
I will hug you and pray happily l
With devotion I will take your name ll

Shri Ganesh Prarthana

Shri Ganesh Abhang - 2

Ganesha Worship consists of devotional compositions in the  Marathi language, known as Abhangs. These Abhangs or Prarthanas were prayers composed by realized saints of the middle ages from Maharashtra. The language used is the old Marathi script which is not spoken anymore.

This here is a beautifully composed Abhang with a profound meaning. In this particular Abhang the worshipper is only asking to be one with his lord. The worshipper does not ask for any material gains, he only wants Ganesha to guide and be with him during his journey through life. He has surrendered completely his entire life to Ganesha and wants nothing more than the blessing of Ganesha and the ultimate liberation in life and freedom from the unending cycle of birth and death.

Ganesha or Ganapati is the Hindu God of all beginnings, and the remover of all obstacles. He is also the God of all arts, intellect, wisdom and knowledge; He is portrayed as having the head of an elephant which signifies immense knowledge and wisdom.

No prayer, siddhi or mantra will ever bear fruit if one does not pray to Ganpati first, Ganesha stands for the absolute the all enclosing universal energy or the Para Brahma. Ganapati in simple terms means the unfragmented sum total of all the energies in existence.

Ganpati Aarti - English - Marathi - 3

This is another Aarti in the  Marathi Language recited in praise of Ganpati, who as I have many times said in my earlier posts is the most popular of Hindu Gods in the state of Maharashtra, and the most worshiped.
Ganpati is the remover of all obstacles and difficulties which come your way; hence he is also called by the name ‘Vidhna Vinashak’—the remover of obstacles. This is just one amongst the countless qualities attributed to him.
This Aarti has been translated in to the English Language from the original Marathi. I get lots of mail from my readers, that the exact pronunciations are not possible in the English version. This is true, but very helpful for someone with some knowledge of Marathi or Hindi.

Ashtavinayak Yatra or the pilgrimage of the eight sacred temples of Ganesha, Ganpati or Vinayaka, is a must for all the devotees of Ganesha. The Ashtavinayak temples are located in Moregaon. Siddhatek, Pali, Mahad, Thevur, Lenyandri, Ozar and Ranjangaon. The Yatra is a short one and lasts two days from Pune and three days from Mumbai, as the distances from Pune range from 20 to 110 kms.for all the temples. There are numerous travel agencies offering Ashtavinayak Yatra packages, and most needs of the devotees are taken care of.

All the idols or Murtis are Swayambhu or not man made. This is an Aarti of the Ashtavinayaks.I have tried to translate as best as I could.

Title: Ganesha Worship - Ganesh Mantras

Ganesh Chaturthi - A Satvik Festival

The popular festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is being celebrated with great fervor all over Maharashtra and also in other parts of India. Here I have to add that Ganesha Worship is Satvik or pure worship.Ganesha stands for the Eternal God, the God of all beginnings amongst countless qualities attributed to him.

Hence all beginnings have to commence in a Satvik manner, this is so because a Satvik beginning always ensures a Satvik chain reaction.

Here I would like to give an example of an extremely wealthy politician know to me. This person has risen to a position of prominence from extremely humble beginnings. He owns numerous diverse businesses apart from being a well known politician.

This person is also a great devotee of Ganesha and has constructed a temple of Ganesha some 25 to 30 years back.Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great fanfare by this man and his family.

Today I noticed a big Havan being performed by about 50 priests in his Pandal in front of the idol of Ganesha. The smoke and smell rising out of the Havan was everywhere.

This Pandal is located next to a luxury hotel owned by this person. In the premises facing the road and just next to his Ganesh Pandal is a Kathi Kabab Stall also owned by the same person. This is a small stall which does roaring business throughout the year.

The thing I couldn’t help noticing was that the smoke from the Havan was mingling with the smoke arising from the Kathi Kabab Stall. Thus spread across the entire area was the smell of the Satvik ingredients used in the Havan and the strong smell of roasted meat coming from the Kathi Kabab Stall.

What was astonishing was this wealthy politician is so much in love of money that it did not cross his mind to close the Stall for just a couple of hours. This guy for the first time in his political career has suffered a set back in the elections. Probably greed is getting the better of him.

Ganesha Mantras

Beejakshara mantra

Sri Ganapati is the elephant headed son of Sri Shiva, belonging to the divine family that delivers the soul from darkness and sin, the specific function of Sri Ganapati is to teach and drive away ignorance (avidhya). He is represented by Ketu, the significator of emancipation from all kinds of bondage including rebirth.
The Beejakshara of Sri Ganapati is ‘gaM’
Bīja mantra: गं (gaṁ) which is also called the Gītā bīja (for Srimad Bhagavat Gītā) by those learned in mantra śāstra. This is the starter of everything and just like the Bhagavat Gītā, provides the power to assimilate all knowledge.

Tantrika bīja (physical abilities and strength): गङ्ग् (gaṅg) which sounds like Gaṅga

Vidya-Siddhi Mantra

The fourth house rules education and learning. Any affliction coming on this houses causes loss of learning, breaks in education and the mind has problems in focusing on studies. This phenomena is marked in children between 3 to 12 years of age due to the natural impact of Mercury (Naisargika dasa). This is caused due to the shad-ripu or the six flaws that cause tamas guna to prevail. A mantra that removes the energies from the sixth house and places them at the fourth house will help in rectifying the problem. One such mantra is given below as it has six words (sixth house energies removed) and sixteen syllables (fourth house spiritual energy added).

Siddha Mantra: नमो गणपते तुभ्यं ज्येष्ठज्येष्ठाय ते नमः
namo gaṇapate tubhyaṁ jyeṣṭhajyeṣṭhāya te namaḥ

This mantra is fully protected on both sides, a technical term called saṁpuṭa, by the word नम (nama). This word is means obeisances or bowing with complete humility and is of neuter (napunsaka) gender. The mantra brings humility in children and they learn to bow to the teacher, elders, books and the knowledge. Just as water flows from a higher level to a lower level, so also the knowledge and good qualities will flow from a head in the higher level to the bowing head at a lower level.
Karya Siddhi Mantra

How many times have you said or heard ‘if only I had persisted’ or ‘I should have been stronger’? Strength of mind and body to achieve is a rare gift seen in the great achievers. This is called Parakrama bala or the ability to drive themselves towards the goal and become great men.

The third house has the energies that can be used for sexual activity (in fact the third house is called maithuna bhava implying sexual union), fighting or any physical action. The fifth house is the seat of the thought that causes this action and the tenth house indicates the action itself. A mantra that takes the energies of the third house to the tenth (or other) house is the best for daily practice as it reduces the sexuality and bestiality in men helping them to focus better on the work at hand. The following is a three word (takes energy from the third house), ten syllable (deposits the spiritual energy into the tenth house) mantra where the deity sits in the fifth house. This mantra finds mention in the Mahā Nārāyaṇa Upaniṣad.

Siddha Mantra: ॐ महागणपतये नमः
om mahāgaṇapataye namaḥ
Labha-Siddhi mantra

If every thought which is the seed for action is successfully concluded, we would be the happiest people in the world. Alas this does not happen and we are left wondering as to the cause of the obstruction and spend money, material and other resources trying to achieve the objective.

A mantra that takes the energies of the fifth house to the eleventh house would be the best as it converts the knowledge (fifth house) to gains (eleventh house). Such a delightful mantra that helps us to achieve objectives is given in the Shiva Purana. It is said that Ganesha has two śaktī – (1) Siddhi devī giving all abilities and accomplishments and (2) Buddhi devī – giving supreme intelligence and sharp mind. They have two children (1) Lakṣa (goal attainment) which comes from Siddhi and (2) Lābha (gains of hopes and desires) which comes from Buddhi devī. Both these objectives are in the 10th (Lakṣa) and 11th (Lābha) houses. In the natural zodiac these houses are ruled by Saturn – Capricorn and Aquarius, making them difficult to achieve due to various weaknesses that people possess. This mantra removes the ills of Saturn that plague mankind and makes the sādhaka very competent and brilliant. It is strongly recommended if Saturn is either ātmakāraka or aspects the Lagna (or Lagneśa) in the chart. No doubt that the Śiva Purāṇa gives much emphasis to this mantra.

Purāṇa Mantra: ॐ लक्षलाभयुताय सिद्धि-बुद्धि-सहिताय गणपतये नमः
om lakṣalābhayutāya siddhi-buddhi-sahitāya gaṇapataye namaḥ

Ganesh Mantra to remove obstacles

More often than not the solution for obstacles is simpler than you think. For the Satvik [pure] people this is a simple Ganesh Mantra to remove obstacles.

The meaning of this Mantra is even simpler – I bow to the Ganesha; whose rule extends over all obstacles.
Ganesh Mantra to remove obstacles

Om Vigneshwaraya Namaha

The Mantra can be best chanted 108 times daily or when you feel that you are faced with some obstacle. With the blessings of Ganesha that obstacle will be removed from your path.
