Sirs, a week ago, I started chanting Soundarya Lahari sloka
71 which is said to give Yakshini siddhi. The stotra begins
with words 'Nakhaanamudyotheihi...'. Though it is said this
stotra should be chanted 12,000 times a day, since such a
target is unreachable by a common man like me, I decide to
chant a minimimum of 108 times a day. Is this correct?
Learned people here plz let me know more about this stotra.
Also, after started chanting this stotra, from the very next day,
I unexpectedly suffered colds, and sleeplessness. Does this
indicate that this stotra is not suitable for me? Plz advice.
Plz give as much knowledge about this stotra as possible.

You are putting yourself in danger trying to take Mantras taken from books, intenet etc and trying for Siddhis. MANTRAS are not something you can paly with.
FOR SIDDHIS; ONLY when A SIDDHA GURU gives tha Mantra and is chanted under his guidance, can benifit accrue. Better course will be to do the STOTRA for spiritual advancement; rather than Yakshini Siddhi or other Siddhis, its akin to playing with fire.

Fully agree with Anupam. Don’t take Mantra’s as just simple words. They have ultimate power – the highest form of energy, that can activate brain cells and transform a normal human to super human.
There are mainly two purposes of Chanting Mantras – To attain Sidhis. (Used by Sadhaks by ways of Tantra or otherwise) or Just part of Rituals.
Without proper Guidance use of Mantras can be dangerous, as connecting a small electronic device directly to some high voltage point. It can destroy the main elements of the device. Same with Mantras, They can disturb entire system of body and mind and cause some diseases.
But, If We simply chant Thy name or read his stories i.e. concentrate on Lord, We will never need any super natural power. There will be angels always present to guide and protect us.
Also as per my little knowledge gained at internet all the Mantra ( Total 100, Soundarya Lahari -42 to 100) should be accompanied by Yantra. The Success of Mantra will also depend on quality of Yantra You Use, Timimgs of Performing Mantra, Direction You Chose, Inner State of Mind. These Mantras are very specific and each Mantra is having a Purpose attached to it.
At Last again, Find a True Guru, who is Master if you are really serious about performing these Mantras which are from the Tantra World. I believe there are many masters in south.
