  • 'ALLAH MALIK' - Constant rememberance of God (ALLAH)

by Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi

[Eashwar Allah thera NAM - Mahatma Gandhi in his daily (routine) prayers]

Shirdi Sai Baba's devotees are fully aware that Baba used to utter always "ALLAH MALIK, SABKA MALIK EK HAI" (There is only one God - absolute reality). He always abided in the self (Impersonal Brahman, GOD)

Now, the question arises whether we (mortals) will be able to abide in the self. (NIRGUNA Worship) we get a clear answer to this question from Lord Krishna in BAGHAWAD GEETA Chapter XII. Arjuna enquired :- which are considered to be more perfect, those who are always properly engaged in your devotional service or those who worship the impersonal (NIRGUNA). Brahman, the unmanifested? (Sloka 1.B.G. Ch. 12). The supreme personality of God head (SRI KRISHNA) Clarified :- Those who fix their mind on my personal form (Sagun Brahman) and are always engaged in worshipping me with great and transcendental faith are considered by me to be most perfect. (Sloka II B.G. ' Chapter XII). In this connection, we may also refer to Sai Sat charita chapter XI in which it is said as follows : "There are two aspects of God or Brahman (1) the unmanifested (NIRGUN) and the marifested (SAGUN). The Nirgun is formless, while the sagun is with form, though, both denote the same Brahma. Some prefer to worship the former, some the latter. As stated in the Gita (chapter XIII) the worship of the latter is easy and preferable. As man has got a form (body, senses, etc.), it is natural and easy for him to worship the God with form. Our love and devotion do not develop, unless we worship Sagun Brahma, for certain period of time, and as we advance it leads us to the worship (meditation) of Nirgun Brahma".

Sri Krishna further clarifies vide slokas 3-4 (in B.G. chapter XII) that, for the common man, Nirguna worship (realisation of the impersonal Brahman) is very difficult, for those who fully worship the unmanifested, that which lies beyond the perception of the senses, the all pervading, in conceivable, unchanging fixed and immovable-the impersonal conception of the Absolute Truth - by controlling the various senses and mind, being equally disposed to every one, such persons, engaged in the welfare of all, at last achieve me.

It is difficult for man's limited intellect to perceive God. So there is a common fear among devotees that if one worships one form of God then another deity will be angry. Adi Sankaracharya clarifies very clearly in the hymn "Harisaranashtakam" that the supreme Being assumes varied forms, as Rama, Krishna, Wamana. Narasimha, Siva, Maruthi etc. (To make it clear all names and forms of Gods, Godesses, Saints, Sadhus, Gurus emanates from God - the Almighty). It is by His omnipotent will that all the names and forms in the universe come into existence.

Just as a seed grows into a big tree with roots, stem, leaves, and flowers. The spider weaving a web is often cited to illustrate the manner God brings the universe into existence. So, God being omnipresent in His creation, He could be worshipped by any form and name. There are many people who place their trust in world by supports like fine age, family wealth and so on and think that only weaklings need the Lord. But, they do not realise that when troubles beset them, these worldly supports, which are ephemeral nature, may desert them, in the moment of dire need. So, one must constantly remember that worldly enjoyments, worldly relationships and comforts cannot offer solace at all times and hence there is every possibility of being betrayed in a crises. Thus it is imperative that, at a stage in life when ft is not too late, one should develop devotion to God. (saguna worship).

To conclude, Sri Sai Baba attained Godhood by his exemplary services and loving devotion to his Guru. He explained to Mrs.RADHABAl DESHMUKH how he secured the Guru and blessings of his Guru & became one with him. (Readers are advised to go through chapters XVIII, XIX (18 and 19) in sai satcharitha to know the full details).

For us, sai Devotees, Baba is Guru, God and he is our protector, saviour, Succour and able refuge. Hence, we must always remember him, meditate on him, read his stories (leelas) chant his Taraka mantra 'OM SAI SRI SAI JAVA JAVA SAI' constantly, which will finally enable us to merge in the Eternity of BABA. {SELF REALISATION).

OM TAT SAT, OM SHANTHI, SHANTHI, SHANT1HI.

    R.RADHAKRISHNAN (SAIJEEVI)

OM SAI SRI SAI JAYA JAYA SAI!!!
Let us pray at the feet of Sai Baba who is the incarnation of all gods and protector of all, to show mercy on us, and increase our devotion towards him.
A Person, who has controlled his mind, can achieve any success in his life. How far you are trying to control your mind?
The mind that judges not others ever remains tension-free.
