- The first ever Temple/Mandir/common plaace of worship for Sainath of Shirdi was built in 1916 in Bhivpuri, a village on the way from Bombay to Poona in Maharashatra. This was built by Keshav Ramachandra Pradhan, an atheist turned Sai devotee. (Source: Sai Patham, January 2001)..




 - Lakshman Joshi, the maternal uncle of Sai devotee Madhavrao Deshpande, performed the first aarthi after Baba's physical demise on October 15, 1918. Bapusaheb Jog, who used to perform aarthis to Baba, did not show up to do aarthi on the morning after Baba's physical demise thinking that Baba is no more alive. Dadasaheb (Shri G.S. Khaparde), who was able to expound Panchadashi (A well-known Sanskrit treatise on the Adwaita Philosophy by the famous Vidyaranya) to others, said nothing or uttered no word when he came to the Masjid before Baba. Really a man, however learned he may be even in Vedas, fades away before one, who was realized Brahman and become one with it. Learning cannot shine before Self-realization.

The following are the five blessed ones to whose house Baba went and took Bhiksha:


First two houses are Vaman Gondkar and Vaman Sakharam Shelke, beside Chavadi (adjacent to each other).

Next two houses are Bayajabai (Tatya's mother) and Bayaji Appa Kothe Patil, just beyond Narasinh Lodge opposite to Ithiraj Hotel (adjacent to each other).

Finally to Nandaram Marwadi, this is in the lane between Dwarakamai and Gurusthan (local money lender).

Baba’s daily routine during His life in Shirdi was very unique. He used to take a particular route to Lendi. Baba never changed this route even once. He gave a lot of importance to a fixed routine or a certain way of doing things. The work may be small or big, but Baba would never agree to an iota of change in it. Baba said that if one takes up a work, he should see that it is properly completed.

Once there was a huge downpour in Shirdi. The dilapidated masjid was not a suitable place for Baba to stay and devotees urged Baba to move to Chavadi to spend the night. Baba refused to move from the masjid. One devotee by name Narayan Theli made bold, lifted Baba onto his shoulders and carried Him to Chavadi. Baba spent that night in Chavadi and thus the practice of Baba sleeping in Chavadi on alternate days started.
