i read an article thought of sharing with u all...

Dont Die With Your Dreams Still Inside You

I write and talk a lot about dreams. Primarily because I know we serve an awesome and amazing God, who gave us dreams for an awesome and amazing purpose. We all have a dream to do something great, go somewhere incredible, achieve the unachievable, beat the unbeatable or meet the "unmeetable." Unfortunately, more often than not, most dreams remain unrealized; silenced by fear and doubt. What's needed is a renaissance to recapture the spirit and belief we once had as children. We need to remind ourselves in all that we desire to be, have and do... "I can, if I believe I can."

My aim is to inspire as many people as possible to passionately pursue and do their dreams. Revitalize your dreams. Start today. Don't just dream; dream BIG dreams! Put them in your heart, then put them on the wall, refrigerator, mirror ... wherever you'll see them often. Remind yourself you are more than worthy of everything your heart ever imagined. Believe, then diligently commit to a plan to achieve.

Resolve to live a life that ends the way you want it to; and don't you dare, I say don't you dare... die with your dreams still inside you.

The Power of Inspiration

INSPIRATION can be a powerful thing. It can
keep you going when all around you cries out
"quit!" It is even more powerful than motivation,
as motivation gives you your basic reasons to keep
going--it tells you why you want to do what you do,
because motivation is based on goals. These, in
turn, may be based on necessity want or desire. But
inspiration fills those reasons with hope, possibil-
ity and enjoyment and keeps the "grind" from becoming
too grindy.

But just what does inspiration consist of?  I
posit two elements: vision and mission.   Proverbs
29:18 says 'Where there is no vision, the people
perish." A vision is the first step toward turning
your motivation into inspiration.  A person with a
vision sees down the road.  He can sense what it
will be like six weeks, six months, a year, two
years, five years and more ahead.

But how do you get a vision?, you ask.  First
of all, you need to narrow your perspective.  You can't
attempt to "ride off in all directions at once,"
so to speak.  Try to decide what it is you are
looking for, so you'll know it when you see it.
In other words, try to have in mind some general
goals as to where you want to be six months a year,
etc. from now.  These goals will not only form the
basis of your motivation but should also serve to
limit to an extent the scope of your activity.

Next, try to locate and choose an opportunity
(buisness, career or job) which you feel is right for you.
This may be easier said then done, as there are many choices
which sound good.  You may come upon an outstanding one
right away, purely by chance.  If so, latch onto it.  But
you will probably have to pick several at first and
study the things which each one offers and try to
evaluate the potential of each one as you see it.
Settle on the one which you feel has the most
potential with the least amount of hassle (preferably
one that is totally Internet driven as opposed to
one where you have to spend time calling potential
prospects by phone).

Once you have chosen your company, stand behind
it in every way and don't quit or change your mind.
B.C. Forbes said "Without loyalty, nothing can be
accomplished in any sphere..." Think of yourself as
being in it for the long haul, no matter what.  And
try to envision, based on what you know, how things
will be down the road.  Keep that picture before your
mind, and never doubt. Napoleon Hill said "What the
mind can conceive and believe it can achieve,"
and the Bible says, in Hebrews 11:1 "Faith is
the substance of things hoped for, the evidence
of things not seen."

Once the vision is firmly implanted in your mind,
let it become your driving force.  Let the vision excite
you with the possibility of its fulfillment and you will
automatically begin the next step--you are on a mission.
Your mission is to bring about the realization of the
vision.  If you keep the vision in mind, you will move
forward in the mission, accomplishing enthusiastically
step by step that which is necessary to bring the vision
into reality. You will have developed a sense of excite-
ment, importance and urgency which will keep the fires of
inspiration burning in your heart and moving you ever onward
and upward.

Believe In Yourself And Become a Winner: Lessons from Hollywood

A while ago I made it a point to watch the movie "Legally Blonde."

Not just for the bright, chirpy and eminently watchable Reese Witherspoon, but also because I loved the message it sent out.

If you didn't see the movie, all you need to know is that it's about a smart, fashion-conscious blonde who's told time and again, by her family and friends, that it'simpossible for someone like her to go to Harvard law school.

That she's just not smart enough and doesn't have what it takes.

In the movie, the character played by Witherspoon not only goes to Harvard law, but also through sheer determination and intuition, graduates at the top of her class.

Its just the sort of movie people love. Because it makes us believe that we too are capable of achieving anything we want to.

It reminds us how we often let ourselves, and others, underestimate our own potential.

And how we undermine our own sense of self, because of what we look like or where we came from.

But why just let it remain a movie, when it can be the story of your life...

Have you ever asked yourself what it is that keeps you from reaching your full potential?

From doing what you are inherently capable of?

For many of us, it's a lack of belief in ourselves. A lack of confidence in our own ability to succeed.

And because we believe we will fail, we usually do.

But there are people who have succeeded beyond all expectation - no matter what they look like, or where they come from.

One of my favourite role models who comes to mind is another Hollywood celebrity, Barbra Streisand.

Indeed, one of my favourite films of all time is her movie, "Yentl," about a courageous, intelligent woman trying to fulfill her capabilities, in the face of overwhelming odds.

"Yentl" was also the movie in which Streisand became the first woman ever to produce, direct, write and star in a major motion picture.

Streisand carved her own path, and broke the mould.

She showed how a woman with unconventional looks can make it in a field where beauty is more important than brains.

So, if you believe that you are less than someone, because of your lack of education, looks, talent, background or ability, take courage from her achievements.

They are an inspiration not only for women, but for everyone.

Because all it take is a belief. The belief that you can do what it takes.

Don't wait for someone else to give you an opportunity to prove yourself. Stop depending on others for handouts.

Don't wait for the right opportunity to fall in your lap. Because it never will.

All you need to carve your own path, is the confidence and the belief that you can succeed at anything you set out to do, no matter what the odds.

So start today. Choose a mentor.

Learn from the masters. Re-invent yourself.

Create your own opportunities and forge your own future.

Your belief in yourself, coupled with the courage to see it through, is what will carry you from a life of mediocrity and under-achievement, into a world where you can be the winner you aspire to be.

Dare To Dream

The rewards of life come to those who do, not to those who
merely read, talk or day dream. Action is the key.

Okay I want you to answer this question:

"In December of last year did you achieve all you set out
to achieve in January of the same year?"

This is a 'yes or no' answer, so don't spend too long
considering it.

The answer, of course, is 'no' - unless you are a
pathological liar!

Next question: "Did you set out to achieve anything last
year?"

Aha! Now that's a more interesting question I think.

Deciding at the start of a year that you want to achieve a
certain result by the end of that year, is an example of
our old friend goal-setting.

High-performance people set goals. Winners set goals.
Losers never set goals. Why? Because it takes about 20
minutes of concentrated effort to write down your goals,
and losers have far more important things to do than this.
It interferes with valuable boozing time, for example. Such
a task would take up nearly a whole episode of a soap
opera. You could read a trash newspaper from cover to cover
in this time.

But there is a more important reason why many people don't
write goals. It is this. Writing goals commits you to
action, otherwise there is little point in writing them.

Turning your dreams (goals) into reality will not happen
automatically. It will require work and effort.

"Ohmygod!!! WORK, and EFFORT??? Forget it man! I'm not
writing down anything on a piece of paper which will commit
me to that!"

This is why people do not set goals (write down their
dreams). They cannot bear to have that piece of paper
leering at them in silent accusation as the months tick by.

But what is at stake here? Nothing less than undreamed of
wealth, unlimited happiness, and a totally fulfilled life.
Perhaps more importantly, you can meet your fear head on
and live like a warrior, not a frightened rabbit.

The older I get the more I wonder what the hell we're all
so afraid of. Like you, I travel the world and see or hear
about real problems; murder, torture, death, disease and
starvation. Then I return to this grey, stuffy country to
witness intelligent and privileged people wasting their
lives away down the pub or propped in front of the TV
screen for (on average) four hours each night! Unbelievable!

And these people are also timid beyond belief. They are
completely risk-averse and will run bleating to the
authorities if the tiniest upset ruffles the calm waters of
their uneventful lives. I am saying all this in the hope
that it will make you shudder. None of it applies to you,
of course.

Achieving great wealth and happiness starts with having a
dream. Today's dreams are surely tomorrow's realities. So
you blew it last year? You have a chance to redeem yourself
this year - if you have the guts of course.

Got any fight left in you, or have you thrown in the towel
long ago? Are you a shivering, frightened little mouse or a
human being prepared to fight and win? Are you going to
spend the rest of this year bleating and moaning about how
you cannot succeed? Or are you going to do something about
making your own success a reality?

Are you prepared to fight?

Are You The Master Of Your Destiny?

How strong are you?

I'm not asking if you can carry 150 lbs. of weight.  What I'm
after is your strength of character.  How resilient are you to
hang on to your dreams amidst the raging forces of discouragement
and criticisms?

There are far too many individuals who never get to experience
the joy of attaining their desires because other people's
influence has significantly (and sometimes negatively) affected
their crucial decisions.

Are there instances in your life when other people said that
you should not continue your plans because they're never gonna
work?  What did you do?  Did you continue your endeavors or did
you just follow their command?

If you always adhere to other's beliefs and opinions even though
they are contrary to yours, you're just torturing yourself.  It's
like you don't have a mind of your own.  You're like a shadow
following the moves of someone else.

You may listen to other people's advices, but never let them
control you.  If their advices would contribute to your
success and well being, then by all means follow them.  But
if they would hinder you and stray you away from what you
really want in life, then you've got to make a stand and
pursue your heart's aspirations.

Sure there would be criticisms.  But if you always avoid
them, then you will never be truly happy.

As one famous person said, "There is a sure way to avoid
criticisms, be nothing and do nothing.  This remedy never
fails."  True enough.

Take my case.

When I was in first year college, my dad wanted me to shift
my course to Physical Therapy because it was in demand in the
United States at that time.  But I wanted to continue my
studies in Accountancy.  I remained firm with my decision
and after some negotiations they finally gave in.

Then there's my love life.  Chinese tradition states that
Chinese people marry their own kind.  (No offense)  But I fell
madly in love with this Filipino girl.  Despite all the
criticisms, discouragement, and harsh words (pardon me), I
defended my love for her.  Right now we're going strong and
my relatives have respected my decision.

You see, if I have given up easily in any of the two scenarios,
I would've deprived myself of joy and contentment in my life.

Sometimes other people's words would cut like a knife.  But
never be disheartened.  Listen to the voice inside of you.
We will never be able to satisfy everybody because each of
us is unique.  We have our own distinct traits and values.
Respect for each other's opinions should be upheld.

With that said, I would like to leave this final message that
sums it all up.  Follow your heart and happiness will follow.

Michael Lee is the author of "How To Be A Red Hot Persuasion Wizard," an ebook designed to fully improve your relationships, multiply your profits, win negotiations, and help you attain all the desired freedom and power you could ever dream of.

Since the day we first met
you make me look for you
again and again like a chain reaction
so, you have nuclear energy

Without uttering a sound
your eyes speak thousand words
so, you have ultrasound energy

The sparkle in your eyes
reach me even when I am far
so, you have laser energy

When you smile at me
you make me fall at your feet
so, you have gravitational force

when you just see me
you make my heart beats to race
so, you have magnetic force

when you leave me
you leave behind in me
great vacuum like in space

Oh, Indian woman!
you are a scientific marvel
without you I am just gravel

Alone But Not Lonely

In today's fast paced society, we've become accustomed to filling the eeriness of silence with fluff. We turn to many distractions as a means of escaping feelings of idleness or boredom. But the main thing we wish to elude is loneliness. Solitude does not have to alienating or lonesome. In fact, solitude and loneliness are distinctly separate.

The death of a loved one or the inability to find people who understand you can leave you feeling isolated. Webster's dictionary plainly describes loneliness as "being without companions. It's natural to experience an emptiness while longing for love or acceptance. Loneliness is therefore an emotive state that can be experienced whether or not one is physically alone.

It was Geoffrey F. Fisher who said, "In cities no one is quiet but many are lonely; in the country, people are quiet but few are lonely. We tend to fill loneliness with all types of distractions. For example, some single women would rather spend a Friday night with a man they have no genuine interest in, than spend the night alone. They long for a way of killing time while they await the man they are actually seeking. Then there are young adults who are involved in cliques where they can't really relate to their companions. However, they would rather feel accepted on a superficial level than risk feeling outcast. So what is it about being alone that scares us?

Do not be spooked by the unfamiliarity of silence. Silence can be an amazing thing. It teaches you how to truly listen. It teaches you to pay attention to what's going on inside of you. Only when we are alone, can we have the space and peace we need to think without being outwardly influenced. It therefore becomes easier to make important decisions as well as identify whatever feelings are culminating within.

Get in touch with yourself so that you can make conscious decisions rather than simply react to emotions. Appreciate the time you have to yourself. Let the peace and understanding you find better equip you for the commotion of today's world.
Title: My Passion, My Life
Post by: pramanisa on June 22, 2007, 05:15:21 AM
Every morning I excitedly get out of bed.  Just a few minutes of goals and visions for the day swirl in my head. No lingering for me, no alarm, no wishful notes too.  Just me in my night gown with no hat.

I sit down to enter my dreams and what can notes.  In my journal entries that began long ago with a tiny book and its lock and key.  I used to dwell on all the icky things back then but now I write God with my cheers and glees instead.

I remember the days I knew not whether I was going to live or die.  I also never thought I'd see why cancer came by. I'm glad I had cancer because today I like the who I've become.  Which would have never occurred had it not appeared.

If I dwell, I can remember the day of an accident that left me in a wheel chair for years.  Because I know if I do, today there will be a lot of have nots and heart of tears too.

As a coach I've been trained to be in the present moment with me.  Thank goodness for apple trees.  For if it had not been for growing things fresh air would not have been.  And I would not be able to enjoy breathing it all in.

Next I write wisdom, only wisdom that I can share.  I know that someone will be here and be inspired because I'd cared. I travel through my day with a soul of glee.  Knowing, really knowing, this is the right place for me to be.  The excitement occurs when I pick up my pen and get the surprise of how far its all come.

I know there were days long ago when I dreaded my day.  I'm glad, I'm glad, there aren't none of them anymore.  For when their inklings first appear, I now have the training and support to make them disappear.  Coaching made me work so that I can appear.

When I crawl under the covers at night, I smile with prayer at the difference I made in everyone's life this day.  Just because I was there.  Before I drift off to sleep my sugar plums swirl with what next I can do with my pen.  I nod off to sleep, gracefully and slow, lingering on the stories yet to be told.

Occasionally there is a 2 am up.  Just because what was swirling before needs to be said.  So I honor the time with my pen and then its back to la-la-land I go.  I'm so glad of my passion, my life.  Its allows everything to be said. After my last eye lid shutter, my last thought is tomorrow's putter.
Title: 7 Strategies to Overcoming Anxiety and Panic Attacks
Post by: pramanisa on June 22, 2007, 05:22:03 AM
You Can Overcome panic attacks and anxiety!

That is great news to those who suffer day in and day out, year in and year out. I have and I know that you can too.

THE SYMPTOMS
For me it started with heart palpitations. My thoughts immediately steered to fear. Then my throat would become dry so I could not swallow. Then my body would feel "weird". Dizziness and blurred vision. By this time I was convinced that I was about to die. I kept waiting for the symptoms to get worse and they did. I use to suffer from panic attacks so badly that I had to go to the hospital by ambulance. I was so embarrassed when the doctor checked me and told me that there was nothing wrong with me. When I had to go grocery shopping I would get a funny feeling in my stomach before I left the house. Once I got inside the grocery store I felt like I had to run out or else I would become overwhelmed. I dreaded the thought that I might have a panic attack in public. I had to talk to myself and prayed up and down each and every aisle of the store. I knew that if I ran out, my family would not have food and I would have to start all over again. The people in the store had no idea the personal torture I was experiencing. People at church had no idea how hard it was to sit in a large crowd.

AWARENESS When the symptoms first started, I had no idea what was happening to me. One day I was watching T.V. and some people were on a show talking about the symptoms and the light went on, "That's me! That's what I have been going through". That was the beginning of my healing! Knowledge is power. I thank God that He allowed me to turn to the channel and hear those people talking. I also helped me to know that I was not alone. I suppose that those of you who suffer from the effects of anxiety are glad to hear that you are not alone.

Steps to Overcoming

1) READ Read as much as possible about anxiety and understand what are some of the causes.

2)PROFESSIONAL HELP Go to a counselor or therapist to get to the bottom of the anxiety. The physical discomforts are trying to get your attention - Pay attention to a greater dis-ease within. Pray for God to send you to the right person. He will.

3)RELAXATION Listen to a tape or CD for RELAXATION This was one of the things that helped me tremendously. I needed to reprogram my mind with positive and true statements that were life giving and empowering. Breathing correctly is a part of relaxation.

4) EXERCISE Physical excercise has tremendous value. It releases chemicals that generate good feelings, called pheromones. It's good to feel good!

5) HEALING IN GOD'S WORD Meditate on scriptures that enhance your trust in God. One scripture that helps me when I really let it sink in is: Matthew 5:25-34. Am I not more than a bird to God? You better believe it and so are you! Birds don't work or store up food yet God takes care of them. Wow! The next time you see a bird think about that!

6) MAP YOUR JOURNEY Create a time line by drawing on a sheet of paper when your first signs of discomfort started. Write down what major events happened at that same time. Note the year/date. Go back as far as you can. This process helps you to take a bird's eye view of your life. When I did this exercise, I found that the first time I experienced a full panic attack was in 1984 and I had just made a major move from someone very dear to me. I also discovered that there agoraphobia before any panic attack ever appeared. Do this it will help you understand what has been going on and what triggers extreme anxiety. (You may need to use than one piece of paper).

7)God's Power to Heal
Remember,God still heals. We must let go of all the passed disappointments, and betrayals. God is not like any human being with whom we have had a relationship. God faithful and just. Jesus walked this earth so you can talk to Him about yours trials. Pray as the early disciples did, "Lord, increase my faith". FAITH is the opposite of anxiety. Faith not only pleases God but keeps us trusting in God's fatherly care. I am a witness!! Praise God!

If just one person is helped by this article, I will have accomplished what God set me out to do -Help someone along our earthly journey

Title: Who is the Pilot?
Post by: pramanisa on June 22, 2007, 05:36:12 AM
It was a mild summer day in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina when I boarded United Airline flight 7318 to Washington, DC. Like usual, I promptly located my window seat, with no doubts that the pilots would safely take me to my destination.
Suddenly, as I sat gazing out of the window waiting for take-off, certain questions unfolded in my mind. I wondered, "Who are these pilots that I wholeheartedly entrust with my life?" I wondered about my surety of knowing that they would, or could take me to my destination. I also pondered on "Why it is that I -- or we as individuals, trustingly and unwaveringly allow others to continuously pilot our lives without questions or reservations?"
We permit others to pilot our lives while we unquestionably find our seat near the window - just watching - watching our lives quickly pass by. We lack faith in ourselves, because too often, we allow others such as bosses, friends, family and even enemies, to navigate our lives. We allow others to pilot our lives because of their negative words. We allow others to pilot our lives because they claim to know what is best for us. We live on autopilot without a clue as to where we are headed, or how we will get there.
We must declare that we will no longer allow other people to take control of our lives - or of our future. No matter how cloudy things look, no matter how dark our past is, we must remember that God is in control.
Allow God to be your pilot -- as you co-pilot your own life into a prosperous and promising future.
Declare today: I will no longer sit back and allow other people to control my life into an uncertain and discontented future. The past is behind me -- and only the best is yet to come!
Title: Withstand the Test of Time
Post by: pramanisa on June 22, 2007, 05:44:29 AM
As I drove home from work late one wintry afternoon, chilled from the freezing temperatures, I noticed the beautiful trees aligned on both sides of the road. Amongst the evergreens and the pine trees, one tree in particular caught my attention as it majestically stood, with its strong branches extending outward. This tree, bare from the many leaves that had once hung from its branches, daringly saluted the sky.

I thought about how this deeply rooted tree stood year after year, withstanding the test of time through the altering seasons. I thought about how this tree stood -- regardless of the many changes brought about by the sultry summers and the chilling winters.

Through all of the changes, through the bend of the limbs and the fallen leaves, there it stood -- through the test of time.

Many times in your life, you may feel as though you've taken all that you can take -- that you have stood all that you can stand.

You may feel like throwing your arms up and just giving up -- simply giving in.

My friend, you are where you are today because of your ultimate strength to withstand in the midst of failing relationships, heartbreaks, getting no breaks, of so-called friends becoming your worst enemies. You are where you are today because you withstood all of those changes and many more. You are where you are today because of the many obstacles that you have already successfully surmounted. You are where you are today because you daringly saluted the circumstances, sometimes not even realizing how.

The very strength that brought you here, will allow you to withstand your present circumstance. Don't throw in the towel. Don't give up on yourself. Don't give up on life.

Just like this majestic tree, it is imperative that you are deeply rooted in your beliefs, in God, and in yourself -- so that when life-altering events come to weaken you, or to make you bend, you will daringly withstand the test of time.

Attest today: I will no longer bend to the life-altering events that continuously come my way. I will stand strong, realizing that through my inner strength, and hope in God -- I will be like the majestic tree that withstands the test of time -- for I too -- am strong.
Title: Mirror, Mirror -- What Do I See?
Post by: pramanisa on June 22, 2007, 05:54:37 AM
"A loving person lives in a loving world. A hostile person lives in a hostile world. Everyone you meet is your mirror."-Ken Keys

Mirrors have a very particular function. They reflect the image in front of them. Just as a physical mirror serves as the vehicle to reflection, so do all of the people in our lives.

When we see something beautiful such as a flower garden, that garden serves as a reflection. In order to see the beauty in front of us, we must be able to see the beauty inside of ourselves. When we love someone, it's a reflection of loving ourselves. We have often heard things like "I love how I am when I'm with that person." That simply translates into I'm able to love me when I love that other person. Oftentimes, when we meet someone new, we feel as though we 'click' ? sometimes it's as if we've known each other for a long time. That feeling can come from sharing similarities ? i.e. personality, background, history, character traits, etc. We are comfortable because part of ourselves is being reflected.

Just as the 'mirror' or other person can be a positive reflection, it is more likely that we'll notice it when it has a negative connotation. For example, it's easy to remember times when we have met someone we're not particularly crazy about. We may have some criticism in our mind about the person. This is especially true when we get to know someone with whom we would rather spend less time ? as opposed to more.

Frequently, when we dislike qualities in other people, ironically, it's usually the mirror that's speaking to us. Example: Several years ago, I joined a friend who had invited several other friends as well. One woman, 'Laura' continuously dominated the conversation. Each time someone tried to interject a thought or start a different thread, Laura always brought it back to her story. It was particularly annoying as I felt there was little opportunity to get to know the other people because Laura consistently put the attention back onto herself. It wasn't until several weeks had passed that I questioned and couldn't understand why was I so disturbed by Laura's behavior as I didn't have to be friends or spend more time with her. Finally, it hit me! When I was REALLY honest with myself, I saw aspects of those same traits in me. I realized that the reason we met was for me to hold up the 'mirror' and see myself behaving in an unfavorable manner.

So I began questioning myself further each time I encountered someone that I didn't particularly like. Each time, I asked myself "What is it about that person that I don't like?" And then "Is there something similar in me?' In every instance, and sometimes I had to really get very introspective, I could see a piece of that quality in me. So what did that mean?

It means that just as I can get annoyed or disturbed when I notice that aspect in someone else, I better re-examine my qualities and consider making some changes. Even if I'm not willing to make a drastic change, at least I consider how I might modify some of the things that I'm doing.

At times we meet someone new and feel distant, disconnected, or disgusted. Although we don't want to believe it ? and it's not easy or desirable to look further ? it can be a great learning lesson to figure out what part of the person is being reflected in you. It's simply just another way to create more self-awareness.

INVITATION TO EXPERIMENT:As you encounter people, see if you can figure out what part of you is being reflected. If you notice negative qualities, see if you are willing to look carefully at that part of you. It's an opportunity for you to make a change for the better. At first, it may seem as though there's no connection. Upon further introspection and giving it some time, you may just figure it out.
Title: Accept Every Invitation
Post by: pramanisa on June 22, 2007, 06:11:56 AM
How often do you decline an invitation because you have something else you would rather do? Or you're not crazy about the person asking you to join? Or you're not interested in that type of event? Or you feel like doing nothing? ...

So often we are asked to attend an event, join a group, go to a movie, meet for lunch or dinner, and so often we say no thank you. Many reasons come up - too busy, not interested, don't feel like it, and already have plans.

However, if you think of every invitation as an 'opportunity' you might not be so quick to say no. How many times have you reluctantly joined someone and wound up having a great time, met someone new, or been exposed to a new idea or new client, just because you wound up going after all?

If we think of an invitation as an opportunity for something positive, or something better, we may be more inclined to make it fit into our schedules.

I remember a friend of mine inviting me to a BBQ at a time when I wasn't particularly thrilled to go out of my way to be with a bunch of strangers. But something inside of me decided to go. Not only did I have a great deal of fun, I wound up meeting someone who totally changed the course of my life from that point forward. I realized then that accepting invitations may be a blessing of some sort. So I did an experiment and accepted all invitations (that didn't seem harmful) even if I wasn't crazy about the event or the person I'd be going with. I was invited to attend the local Chamber of Commerce meeting in a church very early in the morning (not my thing!), and I had little desire, if any, to go. But, based on this principle, I decided to go. As it turned out, I actually got to see original stained glass windows designed by Matisse and Chagall. It was a most amazing experience despite my initial negativity towards the event. What I noticed from following this principle is that my life became so much fuller - I was making new friends, being exposed to more of the world, and definitely having more fun.

Does this mean that you should always accept all invitations for the rest of your life? - NO! It simply means that by trying this out, you will then find it easier eventually to reach a balance and perhaps view invitations from a new perspective when making your decision. This also works in reverse for those that accept too many invitations and they become distractions keeping you from more important things.

INVITATION TO EXPERIMENT:If you want to see how this principle may benefit you, "take the challenge" and try this experiment. For one month, accept EVERY invitation (unless harmful - i.e. going to a stranger's home by yourself, or something involving illicit drugs, etc.) At the end of the month, observe what changes have occurred not only in your world around you but also inside of you. Perhaps, you are now more open and can be more discerning about who/ when/ what you do with your time.
Title: The TOP 5 Things That Keep You From Success
Post by: pramanisa on June 23, 2007, 12:55:25 AM
Everyone wants to be rich. A lot of people want to be successful. Yet, only a few people are willing to pay the price. There is a price to success as there is a price to failure. Here are 5 reasons that keep people from accomplishing their dreams.

A lack of motivation. Success comes from loving what you do. Is your current job your passion? When your study highly successful people, you understand that they have at least 1 thing in common: they love what they do and they do what they love. Is this the case for you? If the answer is no, you can start by identifying your passion. This is the best way to get motivated.

A lack of faith. Faith is a firm belief in yourself, God or others that you can do it. Build up a strong vision of what you want to accomplish. In developing a vision, the law of attraction is going to work for you. You are going to attract people, opportunities and money that will allow you to develop an unstoppable confidence.

The fear of failure. The fear of failure doesn't exist. Neither does the fear of success. Fear stands for False Evidence Appearing Real. Micheal Jordan said himself that "Fear is an illusion". It is hard to overcome fears. One simple way to overcome the fear of failure is to read inspirational stories and quotes of people that achieved their dreams. Read one every morning. That will give you strength and hope.

The wrong strategies. When you want to build a business, to achieve something really big, you need to have mentors. You can't allow yourself to loose time, money and energy. Mentors are people that will give you the right strategies; they will provide the right information and will inspire you. They will coach you through the process. Choose correctly your experts, your models. Work with them and adopt the same thinking patterns, the same strategies, the same beliefs. If he did it, you can do it too.

Limiting beliefs. Often times we have limiting beliefs about what we want to achieve. For example, you can really want to achieve a goal but at the same time something tells you: "It's not for you, you don't deserve that" or "You can't do it, remember". These thoughts pollute our minds and darken our life. A quick way to stop these damaging thoughts is to use the power to say no! First, represent in your mind the "limiting belief" and say NO! to it. Now, represent in your mind what you want in its place and say a big YES! You will be amazed how your attitude suddenly changed about the old belief. Can you remember it?

I have just shared with you strategies to overcome the TOP 5 things that prevent people from success. When you apply these recommendations, your life will be enriched. You deserve success because you are special and unique. Everyone of us is. The fact is that we are potential geniuses. But the other fact is that often we refuse to admit it because it pushes us out of our comfort zone and most people don't like that. Get out of your comfort zone; this is the only way to succeed in life.
Title: My Lost Immortality
Post by: pramanisa on June 23, 2007, 12:59:33 AM
Oh my God, I'm not immortal anymore! What happened? Where's my neverending youth? My long summers? My bright future?

Gone, gone, and... wait a minute, there's still future left!

Repeat after me:

I refuse to fall over and let the wagons pass me by on this dusty trail through life, so I'm going to hop up, brush off the dirt and get going! I can still catch an exciting ride and spend some great time with interesting folks who share this long, winding trail.

Sometimes I get confused, with no focus, no specific goal. I find my time being wasted by bad little habits. I can empty my pockets of all those time-wasters and let them fly in the breeze like bits of useless paper. They'll drop and be forgotten, trampled by wagon wheel and hoof. Ground back into the dust where they belong, nevermore to travel with me.

I'll look ahead with optimism. I'll learn to adapt. I'll ride INTO the possibilities of the future, not UNDER the uncertainties of today.

I have time to see my dreams come true, time to make them real. I can see the horizon, the destination of the sun, the vastness of my life ahead. So much land I can cover, so many places to go.

I will move in sync with time. It will never pass me by. My heart will beat as the seconds tick, and my wheels will roll as hands of time turn. Time to do, time to be, time to see.

Some things will pass, others will remain. I remain, and while I remain I will try things that no one else has tried, do things people say I can't do. Succeed in ways I was told I couldn't succeed.

All is not lost. Nothing is gone except my fear and uncertainty. Those are the things I do not need. I shed them off and settle into the saddle of my life, in control of my turns and my steps.

I pull my hat down to shelter my eyes from the setting sun, not setting on my life, but illuminating the trail ahead, preparing the way.

Shining on my future.

My future's so bright, I gotta wear shades.

Title: Virtual Chocolate
Post by: pramanisa on June 23, 2007, 01:02:42 AM
A second on your lips forever on your hips never happens with virtual chocolate.

Chocolate begins from a seed. A cacao seed. It is then fermented, roasted, shelled, grounded, and melted into other forms and tastes. It is also exactly how a product is created. Whether a car or an article.

The process begins with an idea--another way of seeding. We ferment it--we let it roll around in our imagination, sprinkle on a little creativity, and even place it into a state of aggravation in order to deshell it.

Next, we roast the idea, melt it, add this and that, and mold it into some delectable small, large, round or square piece that will tingle taste buds, yours, and mine too. It could be building a book, an article, a building, or sending food to a starving country.

Sometimes we remove something to change it's color or to make it fat free. With chocolate, they remove the extra shell and then make it into white chocolate. For a writer, it's the editing process, the removing of that inner shell to find the white sweeter spot or to make it fat free.

Everything leads up to one thing whether it's making virtual chocolate or anything else. It's the user's result. When someone pops that piece of chocolate into their mouth and that smile of delight lights up their face, it doesn't matter whether they're young or old, an American or of Australian descent. A smile is a smile on any human being. And a smile on a child is forever on our hard drive.

So, what is the difference if you are making chocolate or writing an e-mail that makes someone smile. Send virtual chocolate everyday and make them smile.
Title: Ctrl-Alt-Delete Your Life
Post by: pramanisa on June 23, 2007, 01:08:37 AM
Ah, the good old "Vulcan nerve pinch", the three-fingered salute, the one-handed solution to many backhanded aggravations. How simple, how effective, how instantaneously gratifying to the mind behind the mouse. Wouldn't it be great if we could take the lessons learned from this simple three-point process into our lives and install them into our own hotkey set-up to help us deal with life's little blue screens of death? Well, we can, provided we are willing to use a little creativity, allow ourselves some literary leeway and don't mind stretching an already strained metaphor until it squeals for mercy. Shall we begin?

First Key: Control

One of the most important things we need to remember about life is that we have the ability to assume and maintain control over about 98% of it. We can't change our genetics (at least not yet, anyway). We can't change our birth parentage. And we can't change the occasional act of God that goes down in our vicinity. Other than that, it's pretty much our show and how we manage in life is determined to a great degree on how willing we are to accept this reality and deal with it in a wise and responsible manner.

Of course, the flip side to having control is taking responsibility. If it's not in your hands, then by default it's not your fault if it doesn't work out. That's a powerful motivator for most people to keep their hands as far away from the keyboard of life as they can get them. It doesn't always get them far, living that way, but at least they can always pretend like there was nothing they could do about it. Acknowledging your ability to determine your own fate is scary - and saddening, when you realize how much you lost holding back in the past. But the sooner you take control, the sooner your life gets back on track. So grab the mouse of self-determination and lets move on to the second key.

Second Key: Alternate

If there's one cool thing about life and the great big Universe we live it in, it's that there are always alternatives. Of course, sometimes we don't like to see that because then we'd have to choose (see Control, above). But if you're willing to stick your neck out a little bit, you might be surprised how far you can see over the bowed and huddled shoulders of those around you.

Among the thousands of alternatives we can choose from, we have options in how we behave, in how we believe, in how (or whether) we work and who we decide to love. We can choose to step away from generations-old prejudices and fears, turn away from unnecessarily narrow paths of advancement and set our sights on far flung shores of being that our companions are afraid to even consider reading about, let alone visiting. Hey, it's not such a small world after all and you've got choices coming at you six ways from Sunday. What's your next move?

Third Key: Delete

Sometimes we screw up. Sometimes we screw up big time. And sometimes we screw up so bad that we're genuinely surprised when the smoke clears and the Universe hasn't been vaporized into a cloud of sulphurous fumes. But that's okay. Sulpher happens. What really matters is how you deal with it and how you let the experience affect you. If you carry it around on your conscience like a poorly written and bloated piece of malware that slows down every process you undertake, then life is pretty much going to suck for you for a very long time. Do it long enough and the bad code can get etched into your brain, flashing mental pop-ups at you at every turn telling you what a stupid, messed up idiot you are and sending up error messages every time you even consider trying to move up a notch or two on the evolutionary ladder. Bah, humbug.

Luckily, we have the power to delete bad files and overwrite bad code with sounder, more productive applications. Why stick with a program that's not working for you? That's what the virus cleaners in life, such as therapists, coaches and inspirational material of all sorts and sources, are for.

So scan your disk for errors, defragment your thinking and if all else fails, remember the power of three. The three keys to life, that is: Control, Alternate and Delete.

Title: Relax. Its Just Your Life
Post by: pramanisa on June 23, 2007, 01:26:09 AM
What am I supposed to do with my life? Shouldn't I be doing something...well...more?

These questions haunt everyone from time to time. Personally, I can't count the number of times my acquaintances and I have batted this philosophical shuttlecock around a conversational circle. More often then not, the discussion gets bogged down in the seemingly immiscible oil-and-water struggle between the "idealists", who are sure anything is possible if you just believe, and the "realists" who claim that between taxes, child-rearing and battles over tenure and seniority there simply isn't time for belief in the promise that "your check is in the mail," let alone anything more esoteric like living the life of your dreams.

I can't help but feel that most of us are going about this issue the wrong way - simply trying too hard to get it right the first time and ending up doing nothing out of fear that we will get it wrong, and not find out until we're too far down the road to find our way back to the starting point. Unfortunately, by the time we realize that we haven't actually chosen anything we often discover that the choice was made for us long ago by our inattention.

Instead of trying to figure out the eternal (and unanswerable) question of, "What should I do with my life," consider just living life, and living it well. There's nothing wrong with simply picking up a comfortable mix of jobs, hobbies, causes, volunteering and fun stuff that you really want to do and enjoy doing, and then doing them to the best of your ability with no intent to be anything other than yourself at your best. If you do this, one of two things will most certainly happen:

1. You will eventually stumble across something you want to do while you're out enjoying your life.

2. You won't stumble across whatever it is you want to do, but will enjoy living your life anyway, creating a warm, cheerful and loving environment for those around you in the process.

Either way, you will have a happy, enjoyable life that you can be proud of reliving in the hereafter, and you may end up coming across something wondrous. One thing I do know is that while all of us are capable of doing great things, not too many of us realize that not everybody has to climb to the top of the mountain and be a hero to do this.

Even if you just spend your life being kind, happy and pleasant, puttering around at your hobbies, helping others when you can and generally just making the world around your little sphere of influence a little cheerier by virtue of your smiling, whistling presence, that's a great work in and of itself. Too many people, feeling that pull to "make something of themselves," fail to realize that who they already are is enough.

So why not just relax, enjoy your life and let it unfold as it will. Many who believe in reincarnation believe that some lifetimes are just for enjoying the view, a vacation of sorts, and many others believe that it is as much a sin to forgo permissible pleasures as it is to avoid the forbidden ones. Surely our Creator would not create such a beautiful world as this and then be offended if we were so taken with it that we spent our lives enjoying it and each other. Enjoy your life and enjoy the lives of those around you. And if you just so happen to find "great work" while you're at it, well that's just the icing on the cake.

Title: Directions For Life
Post by: pramanisa on June 23, 2007, 01:33:11 AM
Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
Memorize your favorite poem.
Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.
When you say, "I love you", mean it.
When you say, "I'm sorry", look the person in the eye.
Believe in love at first sight.
Never laugh at anyone's dreams.
Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.
In arguments, fight fair.
Talk slow but think quick.
Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
Call your mom.
Say "bless you" when you hear someone sneeze.
Don't let a little disagreement ruin a great friendship.
When you realize you've made a mistake, act immediately to fix it.
Marry someone you love to talk to. As you grow old together, your ability to communicate will be more important than their physical attributes.
Spend some time alone.
Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values.
Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
Read more books and watch less TV.
Try your best to create a loving atmosphere in your home - this is a vital factor that will contribute significantly to your children's happiness and your family's harmony.
In disagreements with loved ones, deal with the current situation. Don't bring up the past.
Read between the lines.
Share your knowledge. It's a way to achieve immortality.
Be gentle with the earth...and yourself.
Pray. There's immeasurable power in it.
Don't trust someone who doesn't close their eyes when you kiss them.
Once a year, go someplace you've never been before.
If you make a lot of money, put it to use helping others while you are living. That is wealth's greatest satisfaction.
Remember that the best relationship is one where your love for each other is greater than your need for each other.
Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.
Do not forget that your character is your destiny.

Play a BIGGER role in life!

Did you ever think that you are not playing the role which you should play in your life?

Don't you think that you are born to play a leading role, a much bigger role in the real drama of your life? What is holding you back then? Your own short sightedness!

In order to play a bigger role in life you need to visualize a bigger picture of yourself. Once you have that picture before you, it will be much easier for you to paint that picture into reality.

Every morning, I look in the mirror and say "I have to play a bigger role in life". These simple words make my day, a wonderful day, every day, because my firm determination that I have to play a bigger role in life, keeps my mind in supreme working condition, fully prepared for playing a bigger, bigger, and much bigger role in life. No surprise, my every day is getting better than yesterdays.

Every night, before going to bed, I visualize that tomorrow is going to be better than today. And it happens! Yes, it happens!!

While your body muscles need some kind of daily physical exercise, your brain tissues also need some dose of daily inspirational exercise. It is, therefore, important to keep yourself motivated all the time.

You need to clearly define, preferably in writing, every single detail of your big dreams and ambitious goals. You must try to bring out a bigger YOU out of your own person so that you are able to reach those big goals. Never think of living an ordinary person's life! It's a sin! It's not your way of life. Let me repeat that you are born to play a leading role, a much bigger role in the real drama of your life.

Your confidence in yourself to reach your goals with strong determination to set new records of excellence, are your biggest assets. You are not far from playing a (much) bigger role in life!

Revenge in the End is Bitter Sweet

We ALL think or have thought about it at one time or another. Revenge! Yes, we plan, we let our minds conjure up ways to get back at someone who we believe has wronged us (at this point you should hear the Austin Power-Dr. Evil maniacal laugh in your head).

I've yet to hear a speaker on success really discuss revenge so I thought I take a stab at it (no pun intended) by sharing a recent incident that happened to me.

Let me step back for a moment and tell you that during high school I sprouted over night to my current height of 6'2" and was skinny as a rail. In school I was never one of the cool guys. I was always one who hung out on the periphery hoping to absorb the coolness from my fellow classmates.

I was invited to play on a local YMCA team. I was sucked in by my friends telling me, "Victor, you'd be good at it." (See the video on my website to see how this turned out). I don't know what possessed me to say yes since I had the grace of dizzy duck and the coordination of an inebriated flamingo. I was all fowled up! (Sorry, bad joke) I had grown so quickly that I wasn't use to my height.

On our team there was a guy, we'll call him John, who was constantly belittling me and took pleasure in finding any opportunity to make fun of my: height, weight or lack of basketball ability. He was shorter, stealthier and could play the game. Given his scoring ability, he was always going at me and wouldn't let up when it came to ridiculing. I wouldn't classify him a bully because there was never a physical threat, but he rode me every moment he could.

Every time I saw John my mind would race with all the bad things I'd like to see happen to him. I wanted some type of revenge or satisfaction. But in the end, both never came. I graduated from high school, mentally intact, and went about creating my success. From what I heard, John couldn't wait to get out of High School and didn't go on to college.

Let me now fast forward almost 23 years later.

I was invited back to do a keynote speech at my High School in Chicago. I gotta tell ya'?going back after so many years was chilling (in a good way). I had so many good memories and enjoyed walking the halls and peeking into the classrooms where I use to sit.

By 10 a.m. the auditorium was filled to the brim with students. As I approached the stage door which led to the stage, coming from the other direction was a familiar face wearing a dark green jumpsuit. Yep, you guessed it, it was John.

John looked at me, paused, looked at me again and said a sense of amazement, "You're the speaker?"

I nodded my head as he continued to look at me in disbelief; as if a ghost from the past had come to pay him a visit.

It's funny how we wait for a moment where we've replayed in our mind everything we want to say to a person. But guess what happened? Nothing came out. My thoughts, anger and resentment dissipated the moment I started talking to John. I treated him as I would any stranger I'd meet on my speaking tour.

I went to ask him how he was doing, about family and on and on. Before I excused myself to go speak, he mentioned that he was married, had kids and that he was the school janitor. My mind yelled, "Huh! The school Janitor?!" as I stepped inside.

The host introduced me and I took the stage to speak to an auditorium packed with students with A.D.D. (attention deficit disorder). Corporate crowds are tough, but nothing is tougher than speaking to High School students. As I looked into the audience while speaking, I saw John off to the side smiling as he seemed to be enjoying my talk on success.

After my speech, John came by to shake my hand and congratulate me. He said, "Victor, that was great. I was telling some of the students that I went to school with you." We talked a little longer before saying our pleasant goodbyes.

For the rest of the day, my mind was whipping from the past to the present and how much John and I had changed. I no longer had ill feelings towards John. I no longer wished him harm. I began to reflect on how time changes us all, but yet in our minds we hold onto relics of the past.

Many of us carry some sort of angst towards someone who has wronged us in the past. And yes, some of us may very well fantasize about revenge. Seeing John again reminded once more that revenge is often bitter sweet. It's never as sweet as you planned or imagined it would be. And bitter when you think on how foolish it was to have wasted all that mental energy on thoughts of getting even one day.

People change over time but our memories of others don't take that into account. On that day the 'old John' died and a new updated memory of him took its place; a more pleasant one at that. I don't think I forgave John for the past; that would be too trite. I just decided to bury the memory and put a R.I.P. tombstone on it. It was no longer relevant to me.

As we grow older, so does our appreciation for life and humanity. None of us with a true sense of decency can possibly wish any harm or misfortune to befall a fellow human being. We shouldn't torture ourselves by exhuming the past. Stop it! Cut it out!

Maybe, just maybe, the best way to get even is to simply ignore the past, and focus your time on building a new YOU. Maybe, you should focus your energy on building or rebuilding your success. And if destiny is kind enough to smile in your direction, you may just run across one those old memories on the road to your greatness and create a more pleasant one.

Please forward this on to someone who needs a bit of inspiration today.

Consulting Your Soul

Recently I approached a traffic light where a man stood in shabby clothes with a three-legged dog by his side. As I waited for the light to change I looked at this scene with compassion and felt an urge to contribute something. The sign he was carrying indicated that he was homeless. The people in my car commented that he was a strong young man, there were plenty of employment opportunities, and why should anyone give to people who are capable of working. They indicated a kind of mild contempt for this man soliciting funds whom they felt "should" be working. My thoughts were on him and the fact that he cared for and fed this crippled dog. I rolled down the window and gave him several dollars for which he expressed enormous gratitude.

As the companions in my car semi-scolded me for being a sucker and for enabling him to continue to be a beggar I thought of some words of Mother Teresa. "You see, in the final analysis, it is all between you and God, it was never between you and them anyway." Truly this was not between me and my friends in the car, nor was it between that homeless man and me. It was between God and me. Something inside of me urged me to extend love and a little cash to the man and his dog. That "something" was a fleeting moment of consulting my soul.

To me, spiritual and physical are not two separate dimensions of reality. I think of spiritual practice as a way of making my life work at a higher level and receiving guidance for handling my problems. The ways in which I do this involve a few simple, basic practices:

Surrender is the most crucial and perhaps most difficult for me. In surrendering, my thoughts are something like this: I simply do not know how to resolve this situation and I am turning it over to the same force that I turn my physical body over to every night when I go to sleep. I trust in this unseen part of me to keep my heart beating, my blood circulating, and so on.

Accessing spiritual solutions means converting my inner thoughts and feelings from discord and disharmony to love. In the spirit of surrender and love I silently chant, "I invite the highest good for all concerned to be here now." I try to see anger, hatred and disharmony as invitations to surrender and love. With this understanding I have the option to allow spirit to manifest and work through me.I believe my spirit is inseparable from the infinite. Having a relationship with the infinite part of myself encourages my recognition of spiritual solutions. The awareness of my infinite nature is terrific for putting everything into perspective.

My approach to problem-solving involves cultivating an empty mind. In this space I listen, and allow myself to have complete faith that I will be guided in the direction of resolution. I let go of my ideas about how something should be resolved.

Finding spiritual solutions to my life's problems always involves generosity and gratefulness. For me, this means giving my life to my soul purpose and being grateful for the opportunity to do so. I believe that I get back from the world what I put out to the world, not only physically but also in terms of my thoughts. So, I recommend spiritual practices that involve being generous and grateful with thoughts as well as actions.

Nurturing a sense of connectedness to everyone and everything invites spiritual solutions. When I see myself as connected I am not looking for occasions to be offended or to judge. I don't see anyone as my enemy or an obstacle. This is how I relinquish negative self-talk and connect to the solutions that are available to me. In moments of despair I try to affirm, "I see nothing, I hear nothing, I know nothing that is separate from me."

Finally I choose cheerfulness as a gauge of my level of spiritual consciousness at any given moment. The more cheerful, happy, contented, and satisfied I am feeling, the more aware I am of my connection to spirit. So, does all this mean I'm suggesting that you always give money to people who ask for it? No. But I am suggesting that the next time you see someone asking for money, look at that situation as being between you and your spiritual consciousness - between you and God. Consult your soul and if you feel that you don't want to give, don't. But rather than letting anger or judgment rule the moment, offer that person a silent blessing from the part of you that is a part of him. This is consulting your soul.

An Extraordinary Person

I am not going to tell you the story of an extraordinary person, who did remarkable things in life. Why should I? Are you not an extraordinary person? What do you think about yourself? You possess all the assets of an extraordinary person but, unfortunately, you are not an extraordinary person because you don't think so.

Your low belief level about your own capabilities is blocking your way in achieving extraordinary success in life. Your Creator gave you the equal opportunity of becoming an extraordinary person in your own individual manner. He equipped your body with the same tools and gadgets as he equipped the body of any other extraordinary person. No extraordinary organ has been implanted by God in the bodies of those people who are living or have lived an extraordinary life.

You must be working hard to maintain a reasonable standard of life for yourself and your family. Is it enough? Can you become an extraordinary person just by doing 9 to 5 jobs? Absolutely not! Don't walk on the off-beaten tracks paved for the ordinary people. Don't follow the crowd and don't copy others. You are not an ordinary person.

There is an extraordinary person within you. Give that person a chance to lead you. The more you seek guidance from your inner-self, the more you feel confident about your capabilities as an extraordinary person.

Being an extraordinary person, with a strong belief level, you can go to the peak of success, beyond any person's imagination. Raise up your arms in the air, smile and let the world praise you as an extraordinary person.

Do you need any extraordinary skills to become an extraordinary person? Not necessarily! A little guidance from your inner-self and the wise management of your time is all that you need to bring a positive revolution in your life. But most importantly, you must enhance your belief level to become an extraordinary person.

Are you an extraordinary person? Still undecided!

Borne Upon the Wings of Words

How often do you have opportunities every day to exercise your power of communication--encouraging a coworker, appreciating a spouse, guiding a child?

Whenever I visit the Washington, DC area, I usually present a seminar or two at First Class, a Lifelong Learning Center near DuPont Circle. I arrived at the DuPont Circle Metro rail stop about 5:00 p.m. on a dreary, rainy day--right on schedule. The longest escalator in the world is the one at DuPont Circle! It CRAWLS from the basement to STREET at a steep 45 DEGREE angle. I weighted down by a rather large black leather briefcase in one hand and a bag of books in the other hand--hard cover, 208-page Millennium Primer books!

Hundreds of people moved toward the escalators like a giant bug bulging at the sides. I put my foot onto the metal monster to begin the ride up. It was dead still! I looked for the elevator-no way. There was a crush of people behind me and a dead escalator in front of me. Not to worry, in a short while I'd be at the top and on my way. I started off at a brisk pace.

About a third of the way up, it seemed like something had attached itself to my heels and was slowing me down. After a while, I noticed that people were PASSING me! They must be in some fitness program, I thought.

Just past midway I stopped, perspiration oozing out of every pore. I put down the briefcase and book bag and heaved one deep breath after another. That's when I saw the last set of feet disappear at the top of the escalator. At the bottom of the escalator there was a guard, and another mob of people. I was alone on the escalator. "The guard is going to start the escalator," I thought. What a relief! I picked up my things, slowly walked a few more steps, stopped and looked back. The escalator didn't move. Then a youthful female voice floated up the escalator, "Go ahead! You can do it!" It was quickly followed by a chorus. "You can do it!" Energy rushed through my body. That group had shot life back into me and put a smile on my face.

The POWER of communication! With those few words of encouragement, that young woman had inspired me and lifted me up the stairs. How often do you have opportunities every day to exercise your power of communication--encouraging a coworker, appreciating a spouse, guiding a child? Think about it! Words can be the wind beneath our wings.

How To Weather Lifes Inevitable Storms

In the Northeast, we have a few months to prepare for winter by gathering firewood, securing windows and doors, and getting furnaces cleaned. As with any change, there is always a period of adjustment required. Often change in our lives doesn't occur so predictably.

Change can seemingly come out of nowhere and catch us off guard. We are unprepared, shocked and numbed by the news of the results of some medical tests we had, that the job we've worked at for the past twenty years is being phased out or, as what happened in Florida recently, a hurricane blows through and wipes out everything in its path. In order to heal from our wounds and disappointments we must turn on our feelings and not stifle our emotions.

Did you know that crying is actually the bodies' way of keeping us from collapsing? When we allow our tears to flow it releases built up emotions like a cloud bursting from the full weight of rain. The rain then washes down clearing the air and renewing everything.

Like the rain, our tears wash away the toxins built up in our bodies. Yet, many of us are taught that crying is a sign of weakness and must never be shown in public or even in private. We are all taught to "toughen up" if we are to survive when what we need to do is loosen up and let our tears flow.

When was the last time you allowed yourself a good cry that wasn't in reaction to a sad movie but a reaction to something that happened in your life?

When we are cut off from any of our feelings and emotions this only creates more suffering. Avoiding and denying our circumstance delays us from moving forward in our journey to authenticity.

Like the animals, birds, and butterflies that take refuge from the cold by migrating to warmer places or to a dark cave for the winter, we also need to find places of refuge and comfort as we wait for the sun to return in our lives.

This month, if you find yourself needing a little shelter from life's inevitable storms, spend a time creating a space in your home where you can go and cocoon. Make your space inviting and nourishing. Fill it with soft blankets to wrap up in and pillows to hold. Add music, candles, flowers or plants and whatever symbols or photographs that bring you peace and hope.

You can also create this space in your imagination. Think of a place that brings you peace. Picture all of the details of this place: the sounds, sights and smells. Whenever you are feeling overwhelmed by change and needing refuge you can close your eyes and go to this safe and nourishing place.

Remember, the sun will come out again and summer will return.

Have a Green Day, Every Day!

Green symbolises growth. Growth requires change and transformation. This article will help you reach your maximum potential. You can have a green day, every day!

Have you ever asked yourself, "Is there any meaning to life? Is there a purpose for me being here on earth? What am I here for?"

If you are have asked any of these questions you are not alone. Millions of people around the world are searching for the meaning of life every day.

What has been your approach to find some purpose to life? Have you sought to be successful? Being successful is good, but success does not equal purpose. You can reach all your goals and succeed in life and still feel something is missing inside. Or perhaps you have thought that your purpose in life is to be found in making a name for yourself, to be remembered. Perhaps you are looking for purpose in life by staying alive as long as you can. Or maybe you believe that life's purpose is found through pleasure ? the weekends cannot come around quick enough!

Only in God, our creator, can we discover the true meaning and purpose for life.

Without God life makes no sense. God created you for a purpose. The Bible says God is love and wants to express his love through you. You matter to God.

King David experienced God's loving kindness. He declared, "Because Your loving kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You." (Psalms 63 verse 3.)

How does God show His loving kindness to us?

God shows His loving kindness to us in many ways. One way is by answering our prayers. Prayer is listening and talking to God.

Leanne, our eldest daughter, was five years old when she heard my wife and I pray for a house. Each time we prayed Leanne would add, "and thank you God, for a trailer home too." Not wanting our small daughter to be disappointed, we explained that getting a house was a very big thing and perhaps she should just ask God for a house. Leanne did not give up. She continued to add her request each time we prayed. The same day we found the house we wanted, a relative phoned and said they were going away to work for two years and asked us to look after their large trailer home. The relatives knew nothing about Leanne's prayer request. God had shown Leanne his loving kindness by answering her prayer and we were able to stay in the trailer home until our new house became available.

God has a plan for you.

God affirms this in the Book of Jeremiah chapter 29, verse 13, "I know the thoughts and plans I have for you...thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome."

An unmistakable inner thought filled my mind at the age of sixteen. God told me that after doing nurses' training I would get married and go to Ethiopia to work for Him.

I had been a single missionary in Ethiopia for five years when God spoke to me through a strong impression while I was praying. God told me he would give me a wife when I returned to Australia on leave. On my way home, to save money, I stopped in Singapore and bought the engagement and wedding rings. I had just enough money left to buy a watch. The brand of the watch was "Rebecca". God spoke to me again as I was reading the story of Rebecca in the Bible, and said "Just as I led Abraham's servant to find a wife for Isaac, I will lead you to your future wife." (Genesis, chapter 24)

Upon arriving in Australia, I went to visit the college where I had trained. On the way, I heard an inner voice saying, "She is in the college." I prayed, "God, let it be the first girl I meet." Wilma was the first girl I met!

We were so sure of God's plan for our lives that the next time we met we were engaged. It has been a great marriage because we allowed God to direct us in the purposes that he had for us.

God made us to have a personal relationship with himself that would last forever.

Is it possible to have a personal relationship with Almighty God? God is knowable. Jeremiah 9, verse 24 reveals this when it says of God, "Let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, and that I am the Lord who exercises loving kindness, justice and righteousness on earth."

King David knew his God. He learnt to praise God in the good and bad times because he believed God was greater than his circumstances. He said, "I will praise the LORD at all times; his praise is always on my lips. My whole being praises the LORD." (Psalms 34 verses 1-2)

God's purpose for each of us is that we would have a relationship with Him that would go on forever. This life is not the end; our time here on earth is a preparation for eternity.

The Challenge To Succeed

So much has been written about success that one often gets confused about what success is all about. Success is such a personal thing that it may mean different things to different people. Yet we need to have a simple definition which should apply to all successful people and situations. The ultimate purpose of being successful is to take pride in one's achievements and be happy; and I think one of the best description has been put forward by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

"To laugh often and much;

To win the respect of intelligent people

and the affection of children;

To earn the appreciation of honest critics

and endure the betrayal of false friends

To appreciate beauty;

To find the best in others;

To leave the world a bit better, whether by

a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;

To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived;

This is to have succeeded."

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Here is the simplicity with which such a complex subject like success has been explained . If we just analyze every line we would realize that each aspect adds up to a value leading up to a successful life.

And this is the challenge of success. To have such values as to 'laugh often' or 'to find the best in others' is being successful. So simple yet when we look at ourselves and all around us we will find very few people laughing often or appreciating beauty.

The other day I met a young person working for a social organization on lowly wages hardly eking out a decent living. But what I found amazing was he talked very positively and with love to everyone he met, and he met a lot of people on our short walk. There was no bitterness in him because of his economic status nor any disgust for his work which paid him low wages. He did his work with great love. When I praised him for his positive and sunny nature he was thrilled and became a great friend though we had just met an hour back and went out of the way to help me with my assignment.

It is often the most difficult thing to praise anyone. We may admire so many people and their work but fail to give credit openly or acknowledge and praise the persons concerned.

This is what I did and it was a win win day for both of us. Now let us just think about how much success can be achieved in a day if we follow all of Emerson's success formula.

The challenge of success is to follow the simple values. The few simple things in life will always account for the major successes in our life. It is not to suggest that there are only these simple ideas that would affect our successes but it is our focus on the simple things that will have the greatest impact in our lives. What we read above of Emerson's words are proven wisdom that have flowed down for centuries but yet retained their ageless and timeless relevance.

While success training is becoming more and more complex with new programs with fancy success matrixes or best sellers being touted as the ultimate answer, hitting us everyday, I invite you all to look at the challenge of understanding the simple yet powerful wisdom of the the great thinkers such as Emerson.

Turning Your Life Over To God and Trusting Him To Lead You Is Like . . . . .

. . . . . riding a roller coaster for the very first time. You've heard things about roller coaster rides, but what you heard depended on who was doing the telling. From some people (usually kids, or chronological adults who remained kids at heart and kept their iron stomachs) you heard glorious stories about the thrilling climbs and descents, about the twists and turns and maybe even roll-overs. Their words and facial expressions and body language were filled with exhilaration and excitement. Even if they didn't tell you outright, you just knew from listening to them that they would jump at the chance to do it again and again and again. From other people, such as older folks, the faint-at-heart, etc., you heard about wrenched backs, whiplash, and the inevitable nausea.

You listen over and over to both types of reports and realize that sooner or later you will have to decide for yourself who is right because living vicariously doesn't work for you anymore. If you listen to the nay-sayers, you will never really know, so you decide to try for yourself and trust that you will survive the experience.

You, too, are filled with anticipation as you wait to get into the roller coaster car. Finally you are buckled in and as you start to roll away from the loading platform, you realize that you now have completely put your trust and faith in the roller coaster operators and their equipment. You have no control over what will happen for the next few minutes until the ride is over, so you decide to sit back and enjoy the ride. And what a ride it is! You go up at such a steep angle that you cannot possibly see what is ahead; you just have to trust that the ride has all been planned out for you before you ever got on and everything will be OK. You go down so fast you wonder how they ever keep control of this thing and keep it on the track, but afterwards you realize you were never in any real danger. You go through loops that seem to defy the law of gravity, and yet everything is under control, even though you have no idea how. You may go through a dark tunnel where you cannot see in or out and you realize that your trust is at it's strongest point here precisely because you cannot see in or out. You just have to trust that you will be where supposed to be when you are supposed to be there.

Suddenly, it's over. You are at the end of the ride. You look back and realize how much you would have missed had you not taken that first step and trusted. And the best part is, unlike a roller coaster ride, if you fall out or mess up or get sick, God does not get annoyed with you for His grace and mercy are endless. He will pick you up, clean you up, and bring you home with Him. On the other hand, your "friends" at the amusement park might want to pretend they don't know you!

. . . . . visiting Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone National Park has many geysers, pools of boiling hot mud, bodies of hot water filled with chemicals that could remove your skin, and dangerous wild animals capable of doing all sorts of bodily harm to you should you make the wrong move. Interestingly enough you are free to explore and experience these wonders with one caveat: STAY ON THE MARKED PATH! The paths and walkways are very well marked. There are wooden walkways right out over the pools of boiling mud. Some even have railings. Only by your own stupidity and disobedience would you ever leave these marked pathways, and those who do always pay a price, sometimes the ultimate one. Rangers are there to guide you if you have questions, and explain some of the dangers that maybe shouldn't need explaining, but not everyone is perceptive. In spite of all that we read now and then of someone who strayed off the walkway, fell through what looked like solid ground and wound up scalded or worse. Disobedience can be very costly.

God has provided a walkway for us. He has put up boundaries to let us know where the edges are. He tells us in His Word what the rules are, and He even gives us plenty of examples of consequences for not following the rules. There are many "if . . . then" examples in the Bible. The gist of them all is that IF you obey God and do what He tells you to do, THEN your life will be much better than if you choose stubborn, obstinate, self-centered, "my-way" disobedience. God does not honor or reward such a heart and mind-set. The Bible has easy verses for us to memorize to help us on our walk through life. One of the best is Proverbs 3:5-6. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths." If we can do that, we will not wander off into pools of boiling mud. We will not step onto deceptively crusted chemicals that look safe enough to us, only to find out later that we were oh so wrong. We will never mistake the outwardly calm and placid appearance of a powerful animal for an inward demeanor of tameness, kindness or friendliness. If we ever become lost or confused, we can go to the Word of God for advice. We can seek Godly counsel from those on whom He has showered the gift of wisdom. And unlike boiling chemical pools, charging bison and defensive mama grizzly bears, God is waiting with forgiveness if we just confess, repent, and ask. I take great comfort in that.

Tomorrow May be Too Late

A high school senior, looking forward to going to college, inspiring to become a doctor kisses her parents and dashes out the door to go to school, smiling, and waving goodbye -- never realizing that before day's end, she would meet the fate of a deadly bullet.

A husband and wife have a lover's quarrel, laying back to back in bed -- he, thinking about apologizing, she, thinking about talking tomorrow. They fall asleep, never realizing that before daybreak, tragedy will hit home, bringing a lifetime of regret.

Two friends, departing, and promising to stay in touch -- to write -- to call. Days, weeks, months go back, both thinking about the other but finding no time to express their thoughts. One friend finally, picks up the phone never realizing that time would find a terminally ill friend on the other end.

Later, and I'll tell her how much I love her. Tomorrow, I'll say I'm sorry. Later, I'll call my friend. Tomorrow. Later. Tomorrow ? Too Late.

We too often look for the negative, the unflourished qualities in those that we say we love, and too often push them away, instead of drawing them into our lives. Regret ? grief -- pain can come suddenly, without warning. We must cherish the moments that we have to spend with our loved ones, and not take them -- or life for granted. We must give ourselves to life -- give ourselves to others -- give ourselves to love, realizing that if tomorrow does not come ? we will have no regrets.

Take a moment -- this day, to express your love, to give that overdue apology, or contact that friend ? because you never know -- tomorrow may be too late.
Title: Take Out Time -- To Just Be Thankful
Post by: pramanisa on June 25, 2007, 07:53:21 AM

While sitting here tonight, watching the conclusion of "There Are No Children Here," my heart pulsated as I heard a little innocent boy say, "When I wake up in the morning, I feel good that God gave me another chance to stay alive." This statement as innocent as it was, was true to him because of where he lived, and the lethal possibilities that he faced daily of being killed by someone's bullet.

Oh -- I thought, just how much do I really mean those words when I wake up in the morning? Are those words as true to me as they are to this little boy, or have they become a ritual -- empty words with no meaning?

In our often-stressful lives, we are constantly absorbed by negativisms, feeling that our troubles are insurmountable and that no one else in this world is troubled by such circumstances.

We are often absorbed by meaningless thanksgivings -- being thankful only in empty words for the things that we have. We are so absorbed with the things that we do not have, that we effortlessly forget about the things that we do have. Things such as loved ones, a place to lay our heads, food on our tables and clothes on our backs. Things such as -- LIFE.

Things that we often complain about -- that we often yearn -- overpoweringly forces us to forget to be thankful for what we have. While we are often concerned with the things in life that we feel like we cannot live without, there are millions of others, of young girls and boys, men and women, who are genuinely thankful to just be alive.

Just to be alive -- is enough alone to be thankful. Take out time -- this day -- to just be thankful.
Title: Persistency - Element In Reality
Post by: pramanisa on June 25, 2007, 07:57:17 AM
One of the keys to being successful in anything you do is persistence. Lets clarify the word 'persistence' :- It is ability to be persist on instances. And one of key element in this instances is your main Objective in life.

Persistence is success formula made up form the grouping of: confidence+ sustainability +Will power + endurance + self-esteem +patience & optimism.

Take an instance of building a muscle. If you have never exercised before, the first time you go to a gym, chances are you will not be able to bench press 100 lbs. However, if you are persistent, and you consistently go back to the gym, you will find yourself getting stronger and closer to your goal / objective with each and every visit.

It signifies that once you have realized & determined exactly what it is you want to achieve, you must take Significant & considerate action using good plan on a consistent, persistent basis in direction to succeed.

And on success path Obstacles are the natural roadblocks, our job is to be persistent and work through those obstacles. If you find little or no obstacles along the way, chances are you are not really challenging yourself coz person realizes his potential when he is on peak of his performance & ability.

If you see any successful person, you will learn that the vast majority of them have had more 'failures' than they have had 'successes'. This is because successful people are persistent; the more they stumble and fall, the more they get right back up and get going again. For example, India got freedom because of the persistence & patience of great revolutionaries on their objective to make India free.

Just spend some time to learn persistency form others experiences, OBSERVE ANTS, funny isn't it; factual it is. They are much smaller than us, and teaches us Unity ? Discipline ? Team work -Hard work ? Persistency & killer instinct to achieve their goal.

Keep in mind that you must constantly reevaluate your circumstances and the approach you are using to reach your goal. There is no sense in being persistent at something that you are doing incorrectly, its self-deceit! At times you have to modify, multiply & magnify your approach along the way. Every time you do something you learn from it, and therefore find a better way to do it.

Its very interesting to tell you about holy "SAI BABA", who given message "Shradha Aur Saburi" (persistence & patience) I saw his posters having gesture of 'raised palm' along with his message. Raised palm has 5 fingers which having variation of sizes & shapes; and this is what exactly he wanted to suggest form his gesture & message :: Life / Success is full of ups and downs with the intensity of variation ? what you require is to be persistent & patient to overcome panic situations.

There is something we can't change, there is something we can maintain; what we can maintain ? is the process of what we want to attain.
Title: Succeed by Whistling While You Work
Post by: pramanisa on June 26, 2007, 01:01:30 AM
Mark Twain (1835-1910) believed that having fun is important if you want to be successful.

"The secret of success is making your vocation your vacation."

Mark Twain must have had fun as a writer. His sense of fun emerges in his writings. No wonder he lived to a good age for those days. He learned as a boy how to turn work into a vacation. I owe the following story about him to Alan Elliott and Josh Hinds.

In the 1830's Mark Twain disobeyed his mother by taking a dip in a swimming hole near his hometown in Missouri. His mother punished him by telling him to whitewash the thirty- foot-long fence.

Sam Clemens (Mark Twain before he chose a pen name) began to paint slowly. He was thinking of an excuse to get out of the work.

He had only just begun when his friend John showed up:

"I guess you can't go with me, 'cause you gotta work," said John.

"You call this work?" replied Sam. "A boy doesn't get to whitewash every day."

Sam continued painting, pretending he was enjoying this drudgery.

John watched for a minute, then said, "Let me have a go ." Sam told him that the job was skilled.

John offered Sam the core of his apple and Sam accepted pretending he was doing John a big favour.

All afternoon he conned boy after boy to pay for the privilege of whitewashing a portion of the fence. When the task was finished, Sam had collected several objects which delight the hearts of small boys.

Years later, Sam Clemens told this story again in his great book "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer."

The story symbolizes the inventiveness of the American spirit in making the best of a situation and in treating work as play.

Work can be unpleasant or fun, depending on the way you look at it or the spirit in which it is performed.

Adam Hollioake, the English cricketer, realised when his brother died unexpectedly that the most important things in life are 'being kind and having fun.'

Anyone who can be kind and have fun for much of their life is a success by this standard.

Joan Rivers is a New York comedienne who has spent 50 years in the entertainment business and is still going strong.

She has been a huge success and is still a success at 71.Joan Rivers has not always been kind to the victims of her jokes but she has had enormous fun and created fun for millions right up to her current age.

Not all comics have found their work fun. Quite a number have suffered from depression and more than their fair share of unfunny thoughts but Joan seems to enjoy her work. However, even she once considered suicide.

She was not speaking to her daughter and was out of work. She took out a gun and was ready to kill herself when her little dog crawled into her lap and she thought "Someone needs me".

I heard Joan recently on the Parkinson show on Oct 9th 2004 before starting her tour of the UK (ten cities in ten days). The interview was riveting.

Michael Parkinson introduced her as the Queen of comedy. "She has done for plastic surgeons what Mickey mouse has done for Walt Disney."

She told Michael that all her bookings had sold out except in Birmingham. "No one has bought a ticket in Birmingham." She pretended to spit. She has the gift of turning any problem into a laugh. I expect that, after the interview, Birmingham will soon be booked out.

Michael referred, somewhat unwisely, to her age and to plastic surgery. She replied at once: "I know I'm old but I don't see me so screw me. The only two good things about old age are: You lose your hearing so you can't hear the doctor say:"You're going to die" and you can get into the cinema at half price.

Joan went on to 'defend' plastic surgery. The only bad thing about plastic surgery is that I've spent so much money on it that I figured out it would have been cheaper to have my dna changed."

Michael asked: " Do you approve of men having plastic surgery?"

"Anything to get you through life; anything to get you through life. Life is tough and as you get older it gets tougher "

"You're 71 now aren't you?"

"I don't think we need to get into that. They brought up my cake and It took me a year to blow out my candles. I was 72 by then. When you get old you have no breath left. You lose your breath. At 40 you begin to lose your eyesight. At 50 the mind starts to go. At 60 you start to fart; it is just terrible. And you don't lose your sense of smell until 70. You are so alone."

The Parkinson audience roared with laughter. Earthy humour goes down well in the UK!

Michael probed further "You walk a tight rope with your humour. Where do you draw the line?"

"I don't. Things are so terrible some times that the only way you can relieve tension is to try a joke to get people to laugh .I lost four friends in the twin towers. That's serious big time. I made the first jokes about it because it was so horrible that, when people came to see I me, I did jokes to relieve the tension.

My husband committed suicide and I went on stage a week later and said: 'It was my fault because we were making love and I took the bag off my head. It makes the people relax"

Michael commented. "You make fun of old age but the one certain fact of the matter is, as far as you are concerned, you keep getting better and better as a stand up. You have a sense of confidence; you have a sense of experience; you have the timing which doesn't go...."

Joan interrupted with feeling: "And they've done it all to me. Do you know what I'm saying? I've been fired. I've been thrown out. I've been told I'm over. I've been told five times: "Forget about her "...so you keep coming back. So an audience doesn't like me. It makes you sad but I know there's a tomorrow and that makes a big difference I think that's why you come on the stage. You just want to have fun."

Joan Rivers is a survivor and a great success in her own way. She has helped people to laugh at old age, suicide, terrorism and death. She has helped the middle aged cope with their unflattering looks:

"Look in the mirror if you're over 50 and you have two choices - death or humour."

Joan believes in having fun. She is one of those who whistles while she works. People can endure the boring work so long as they can chat and have fun occasionally with their work mates. Even soccer stars who love the game often miss the banter in the changing room most when they retire.

My most successful lessons as a martial arts instructor have been when the lesson has been fun. Both young and old students enjoy drills which demand quick reactions but which do not end in pain.

Blocking and evasion skills, for example, can be taught by having one student throw boxing gloves at another. Even if the block fails the empty glove does not hurt.

I have just tried throwing a woolly hat at the cat to improve her evasion skills but she does not seem to enjoy this at all. She just turned her back on me in disgust. I think a dog might have a greater sense of fun! Before all the cat lovers complain, I do realize that many cats do enjoy play.

Every one loves to hit things especially things that don't hit back! Focus mitt and shield drills are fun. You can work very hard hitting them and having fun at the same time. You learn all kinds of kicking and striking skills while you enjoy yourself.

Working out to lively music is fun. Aerobics instructors have realised this from the start. It is no accident that their classes are full.

When I taught Religious Education, the pupils learned fastest when they were learning through games and quizzes where they could have fun at the same time. They learned a great deal without realising that they were working hard.

The seven dwarves in Disney's Snow White had the right idea. Even if you are doing boring work in the mines, whistle while you work and have some fun. The time will go a lot more quickly and you will still get the work done.

John Watson is an info publisher on the internet and a martial arts school owner. He taught Religious Studies and Life Skills to teenagers in London schools for about 33 years before retiring in 2000 A.D. His own e-books and those of the English multimillionaire, Stuart Goldsmith, can be found on his site at http://www.motivationtoday.com
Title: Blessings for the Soul
Post by: pramanisa on June 26, 2007, 01:13:04 AM

In Corrogue I count my Blessings.

These are numerous. There is every breath in. There is every breath out. There is every heartbeat that reminds me of the joy of compassion and the blessing of this experience called life.

Each day I count my breath for ten minutes. In this way it becomes refined. I am refined and in truth I feel fine. I do not subscribe to our socially sanctioned emotional education. This is when we are asked, "How are you?" you reply, "Fine." This is whether you are fine or not. Most of the time you are not allowed to be "not fine."Sometimes I do not feel fine. I feel angry, frustrated, self-pitying, hurt, denying and any number of other emotional reactions that "little me" has in the moment.

When I come to my senses and enter my body, leave "thinking about," leave "my future plans," leave "my past regrets," then I am here. I am present. I am alive breathing in and breathing out. I am not "wanting" and I am "going nowhere." Just sitting authorising this life moment. Simply sitting being authentic. Just being my own authority.

When you count your blessings it begins as something "you do." You have to, in the beginning, make it a habit. You learn just to wake up for a moment. You learn that you are alive. Most of us breathe without ever being aware of this wondrous connection to all that is. Becoming aware of the breath is a gateway to feeling fine. When you feel fine you feel blessed. In this way you set up a circle. You set up a technique of completeness.

Continue with this practice and you become the Blessing. Rather than be focused on the social consciousness of "never enough" you get to celebrate. You get to drop your constant focus on "earning a living" to becoming the "living of love." For some moments you begin to recognise that you are "life" living "life." You are the flow of the eternal moment.

From this sense of blessing you start to give. You start to give yourself away. As Kahlil Gibran tells us, "You give much when you give of yourself." When you start to feel blessed rather than "think about" giving thanks for blessings you get balanced. Giving happens. Giving is natural. Giving is the energy of love. You pour yourself away and as you pour you paradoxically get filled up with the love of the Divine. You become one who is fulfilled.

Every one of us can find a blessing everyday if we wish. We only have to learn to look. We have to learn to look not only with the eyes but also with the heart. We are taught to look with eyes that grasp. Our eyes become seekers, not of soul, but of things to fill up the emptiness of our souls. Relax the eyes of wanting. We have more than enough. We only need to see this. You see when you drop judging, comparing and focusing on what you do not have.

Relax and allow this blessing of life to flow. Let it flow through a body that is fine and refined. Stop judging this body. Learn to love it as it is. It is not who you are. It is a wondrous gift given from the Beloved. It is intelligent and always working to bring you back to your senses. You cannot love it too much. It will bring you into the blessing of harmony.

So start counting. Make up your own blessing. Share them with me if you wish. I make one up each day and write about what it means. Thus I get to see through the heart. I never tire of Blessings. "Blessings" as a word is related to the word "blood." Have the sense of blessing flow through a body and mind at peace.

Blessings upon you and all those you love and do not love.

Title: Spiritual Bread Making
Post by: pramanisa on June 26, 2007, 01:18:42 AM

All the ingredients to make 12 loaves of bread already exist. The probability that any kind of bread already exists in your reality and it is simply is a matter of combining ingredients to create a possibility. The ingredients do not have to be created to make brown bread, they already exist. What is it that makes brown bread?

First, it is a thought about brown bread. It is your thought, and then it is a decision to make it. It must come from the creative part of your mind that you want to bake bread and then you must choose the kind of bread that you desire.

The process of creating the bread comes from a choice of an infinite combination of ingredients called a recipe. The creation will come from ingredients you will find listed in a recipe for brown bread. It will be either your recipe or someone else's and this is another choice. All the probabilities for making any other kind of bread you dismiss from your consciousness when you make the final decision to bake brown bread. Although the probabilities still exist, they are not conscious in your mind and your focus has been narrowed down.

The creation of the twelve loaves of bread will manifest from choices you are about to make following closely the recipe for it. As you begin to choose the ingredients and add them to the mix you may deviate somewhat and ad some nuts or extra brown sugar or molasses making the final results uniquely yours.

Even in your unique creation of the twelve loaves of bread, not all loaves will be exactly the same. Each load will be slightly different. The ingredients will be in different proportion in each loaf. The loaves will not rise the same, they will not bake exactly the same way. All loaves having the same ingredients will be individualized because of the unevenness of its ingredients and the baking process.

The results will be 12 loaves of bread that are the same but uniquely different. Your creation will come from choices that you have made in ingredients and how you processed them along with variations coming from outside forces. You will have created bread from choices, not by creating the ingredients.

Your life was/is created exactly the same way.

Before you were born, you decided what it was you wanted to experience in your physical life. You chose the time and place of your birth and the parents and their circumstances that would be the recipe for your own creation.

For the first few years after your birth, the awareness of who you really are remained in your consciousness and you did not question your existence. As your parents, siblings, relatives and friends started defining who you are physically, you began to forget the real you. The process began and although you had an idea of what you wanted to experience before you were born, it was no longer in your consciousness. Others began moulding you and from here on in, it would be a further process of trying to remember who you really are and what it is you wanted to experience. As society defines you, so you live your life. The more you choose to listen to the body, the farther away you move from the wishes of the spirit, and the more difficult life is for you. The more ingredients you add, the more you move away from the original recipe or intent.

Physical reality has presence over the soul. The conscious mind has absolute authority to experience what it desires. The soul creates the circumstances that allow the body to experience those desires. If the body (ego) is not tuned into what the spirit wishes to experience, you will make many choices that does not fit into the recipe that you started with. You create chaos and struggle in your conscious life.

You can pick out the raisins and nuts and start eliminating the things in your life that are not in harmony with your souls intend, but the finer ingredients will be harder to identify and remove. A lifetime of poor choices and experiences can be reversed with the knowledge that it is you that needs to be changed, not the circumstances of your life. As you begin to explore your true identity, you will make new choices that will bring you back into harmony with your original intent.

Your life will become easier as you bring yourself back to the higher purpose you have given your life. You will begin to understand and you will choose to ignore the external definitions given to you by your family and the society you live in. As you move outside of the box and recreate yourself according to your own recipe, you will be in harmony, in concert with purpose and life will flow effortlessly.

Your life was never meant to be a test, but an opportunity to stick to the recipe and experience yourself. You got lost, by buying into the extra ingredients and processes that others gave you. You recreate yourself in relationship to what you are not, by choosing to define yourself according to the original recipe. If you are a simple loaf of brown bread, you do not need the nuts or raisins. If it is brown bread that you want, then choose to have brown bread, do not choose another. Choose the people and circumstances in your life, which are in harmony with how you see yourself and your relationship to your environment. Eliminate all things that take you away from your purpose. You are not at the mercy of your environment; you are creating it. The world is being experienced differently by each individualized form of life. You only experience life as you create it; you are not controlled by it. You are not reacting to it, but it reacts to you.

Choose the kind of bread that you want to create, choose the recipe and stick to it. Life will be simpler. Alter the ingredients from time to time as you desire, but know where it is taking you in relationship to the original recipe. Stay in contact with your spirit and learn how to communicate with it. Do not get lost in the thoughts of others.

Title: Living on Purpose: One Rock at a Time
Post by: pramanisa on June 27, 2007, 01:58:51 AM
I just got back from Colorado where I spent a week relaxing, re-energizing and revisiting the key values in my life. The lodge where I stayed is called Peaceful Valley, and it has a chapel on the premises. I've been to Peaceful Valley and to this chapel many times over the years. The chapel is at the end of a steep ten-minute hike, which has become a ritual for me. The view at the top -- a part of the Rocky Mountain range -- is breathtaking.

On the way down one morning I was in a hurry and going too fast for the terrain. I nearly fell. There were lots of rocks, and it was easy to hit a wobbly one and slip.

I slowed down, took a deep breath, and placed my foot down purposefully on the next rock, and then the next. I soon sped up and had to slow myself down again.

I decided that even if I was late, I would place each foot consciously every time I took a step. It took a lot for me to do this. But it turned out to be an amazing centering and meditative practice. One rock at a time -- that's all I chose to think about. And I was suddenly more aware of everything -- the sound of the wind, the chattering of birds and squirrels, and the light of the early morning sun on the golden aspens.

I thought: I could do this more often. Be here now. Feel the touch of my foot on the rock. Feel the steering wheel as I drive. BE at the stop light, instead of minutes or hours ahead at the destination. Hear the birds outside my office window.

I begin to think that multi-tasking is overrated. The really hard thing is to be fully present in one place at a time.

How aware are you of this moment? Does life seem to speed up so much that you miss some of the most important parts? Take a moment right now and breathe. Count to 5 on the inhale, and count 5 again on the exhale. Take the time. It's now that you're alive, not yesterday and not tomorrow. Now.

"Centering is the art of being fully alive. And wherever the art of centering is practiced, things change dramatically."-- Tom Crum, "Journey to Center"

Wishing you good energy in every moment!

Title: Favorite Quotations... What Do They Say About Us?
Post by: pramanisa on June 27, 2007, 02:01:33 AM
Have you stopped to think what your favorite quotes aresaying about you and your life experiences?

How you relate to them? How they relate to you?

Today... I decided to take one of my favorite quotes and seehow it applies to me. You may want to do the same thing.

This quote by Louis L'Amour is one of my favorites...

"Up to a point a man's life is shaped by environment, heredity, and movements and changes in the world about him. Then there comes a time when it lies within his grasp to shape the clay of his life into the sort of thing he wishesto be. Only the weak blame their parents, their race, theirtimes, lack of good fortune, or the quirks of fate. Everyonehas it within his power to say, "This I am today; that I will be tomorrow." -Louis L'Amour

I can look back and see how my life was shaped by earlyenvironment, heredity and changes in the world around me.

My life was shaped by my parents, friends, schools, experiences, injuries, where I lived, moves I made, andtreatment from others, all had an effect on me.

Some experiences affected me deeply. Some of these emotional feelings remain with me and affected me later in my life.

There came a time when I realized I control my own realitywith my thinking, imagination, ideas and actions. What Ithink about and focus on creates my reality. My thoughts andimagination cause my actions. So I began to shape my life.Knowing, I control what I can DO...BE... and HAVE.

That's when I made the most progress in my life, when myambitions and goals came to the surface. I decided what Iwanted to do with my life. Many times these were goals anddreams I had at an early age.

Sometimes, my early goals and desires faded into thebackground, but were still in my memory.

I know people who habitually blame parents, environmment, race, color, location or anything else they can think ofexcept... where the blame should be... On them!

No one else is to blame... I take responsibility for thegood and the bad in my life, because, I create my ownreality. It's a weak person who blames everything onsomebody or something else.

The things I put off are my own fault. I can't blame others,or my environment for not taking an action... because, nowI see clearly...

I Create My Own Reality!

My point of power is Now... Today! I can't change the past. The present moment is where I can make changes for myfuture. My thoughts, imagination, ideas and actions today, create my reality tomorrow.

I become what I think about all day long. That determines what I will do, be, and have tomorrow and in the future. I create it!... I'm responsible for the good and the bad. What I focus on becomes my reality. That's true for any and all areas of my life.

And... I believe it and accept it!
Title: The Tiniest of Gladiators
Post by: pramanisa on June 27, 2007, 10:33:55 PM

I stared into those biggest of navy blue eyes and felt the power ofhis fighting spirit, despite the pain and week long raging fever. Mostof the time my heart was in my throat and my mind was awash withcounter-productive thoughts like, "why him?" and "this isn't fair!"

This wasn't helping him to be sure (my daughter was much strongerthan I), but in spite, he not only survived the arduous ordeal, but heemerged the victor!

I am talking about my infant grandson, Corbin Nicolas, clobberedwith a serious infection of the lymph glands. This tiniest ofgladiators toughed out what few adults could have and not onlyamazed his wonderful pediatrician and hospital staff, but I feelprofoundly and positively impacted them.

My precious bundle of joy is not a superhuman little being. He issimply a child, like any other, who knows no different than to fightthe fight and win!

Now I ask you: what if YOU knew NO other way than to just go outand win? Well, that's how the true achievers of this world think 24hours a day, 7 days a week. Further, it is the lack of this thinkingprocess that is most often the sole difference between success andfailure.

When failure is perceived as a possibility, it will most likely becomeyour reality. However, when we envision success as the onlyoption, just as natural as gravity itself, success is achieved. Notwithout sacrifice. Not without setbacks. And certainly not withoutpain. But, it IS achieved!

Personally, and most probably, I'm at least an entry-levelworkaholic with enough Virgo perfectionism to allow my thinking tostray off course at times. My stress level rises, my thinkingpatterns disintegrate and I become unfocused. Suddenly, myforward motion is slowed, halted or even reversed.

I was in such a tailspin when the call came from my daughter thatsomething was terribly wrong with Corbin. Of course, business justdidn't matter at that point, but it was through this trauma and "in"someone who has been on this planet more than 90 times lessthan me, and who knew no different than to "just do it!", that I foundmy way again.

Corbin was released from the hospital after his ten-day fight, betterthan new and all the stronger in both body and soul.

Look, I'm not a preachy person (most of the time anyway), butevery now and then we all need a wake up call to remind us of thevery simple laws that propel our universe. And I received mine soclose to home and in a circumstance that had absolutely nothingto do with the entrepreneurial spirit, but everything to do with thehuman spirit.

I learned my lesson through the eyes of a child.

Title: Letting Go Of Perfection
Post by: pramanisa on June 27, 2007, 10:40:49 PM
"The power of discovery enables us to achieve excellence without having to be "perfect.'"

? Thomas Crum, The Magic of Conflict

I arrived at the conference center ready to present my workshop. Almost immediately I noticed the room was too small and it was not set up as requested. There were no flipcharts and there were tables, though I had specifically asked for open space. I caught myself and smiled. I drew the word D I S C O V E R Y in large letters on a piece of newsprint and put it at the front of the room as a reminder.

Discovery.

One of my favorite words, the concept of Discovery excites the brain, conjures up lost treasure, desert islands, new inventions, and old relics, something that was ?- up to now ?- unknown. Explorers discover new lands, scientists discover cures for diseases, and philosophers seek to discover the truth.

What about discovering each other? Learning what is new and important in each of our neighbors, friends, family, colleagues; what has been lost in the daily grind of work; truths, values, and hopes that are yet to be revealed? Discovery. A lovely word.

I first came to appreciate Discovery in The Magic of Conflict, where Thomas Crum describes it as a magical domain that "allows us to move beyond the fight, beyond success, to an open realm of possibility." When we're in Discovery mode, we are spontaneous, curious, fascinated, and appreciative of life in all its diversity.

Young children live in Discovery and sometimes we do. Katharine Hepburn lived a life of stardom but never lost her childlike fascination with people and life. Thomas Edison's famous quotation after many attempts at inventing the light bulb shows a person in Discovery mode: "I have not failed. I have just found 10,000 ways that won't work!"

Perfection.

What's the opposite of Discovery? Perfection ?- a place with which we're all too familiar. In Perfection, things have to be done right, we have to look good, get good grades, and win the games we play. Our standards are high, and failure is to be avoided at all costs. In daily conflicts, sometimes at the expense of our dearest relationships, we have to prevail. When we feel attacked we fight back, sometimes with our own hurtful words, or with behavior calculated to control, manipulate and diminish.

Shifting Gears.

According to Tom Crum, when we shift into Discovery, we treat mistakes as outcomes and conflicts as opportunities to learn and understand more of the world and our partners. We stop being afraid to fail because there is no failure, only increased awareness and experience. We enter a world of wonder, spontaneity, and fun.

What Can I Learn Here?

We shift into Discovery, not with judgment, but with awareness -?by moving from "How can I be right about this?" to: "What can I learn here?"

When I'm angry because I just missed a three-foot putt, Discovery changes self-judgment into an opportunity for learning.

In the middle of a tough meeting with your department manager, try asking yourself -- "What can I learn here?" What is it about this issue that's important to each of us?

Upon arriving home, you find your life partner upset.Your first reaction is that it's something you did. But wait! "What can I learn here?" jumps into your thoughts, and you ask: "Honey, you seem upset. Anything I can help with?" And you hear: "I'm just worried that I won't finish this new project they gave me at work in time."

Or your teenager is exhibiting new habits that have you worried. It's worth checking out what the worldview is from her perspective before reaching a judgment.

We've all experienced moments of Discovery when we break through to a new understanding. It's a powerful place that we like and want to revisit. The challenge is to choose to go there on purpose, especially in difficult situations. Katharine Hepburn has been quoted as saying, "Wouldn't it be great if people could get to live suddenly as often as they die suddenly?" Shifting from Perfection to Discovery is the way. Try it. Discover for yourself.

Title: A Time To Awake
Post by: pramanisa on June 27, 2007, 10:44:27 PM
What has become of your fondest dreams?

If you were guaranteed success, what would dare to attempt?

We all have dreams, deep inside?those moments when we take a voyage in our imagination, into a world where everything was possible. A world where fear is a strange concept, limits are non-existent and we are at peace with ourselves.

How come our dreams remain just that?dreams?

Why are we stuck in jobs we hate, held bound by the fear of the unknown, if we dare to stand up and walk away?

Every new day seems to take us farther away from our dream. Sometime we get so caught up in the rat race; our dreams seem like a distant memory. Little by little we let our dreams die.

How come our biggest dreams don't come true?

The answer is not a profound revelation from the east, culled from wisdom of the ancients. It is so simple; you begin to wonder why it skipped you all these years.

Our dreams simply don't come true because we keep on sleeping after dreaming. We don't wake up, get out of bed, and do something about it. The best dreams come to pass when you are awake?

Sometimes we actually wake up and take one giant leap for mankind. Then we plummet back to earth, lick our wounds, convince ourselves that it is not feasible, and promptly go back to sleep. Sometime we give it a second or third shot, before we say goodbye and return to status quo avenue. Well, we gave our best shot?

For some, we keep snoring away hoping that one day; we will awaken to a glorious dawn. Oh Happy day! We hope that a unique set of circumstances will propel us to the fulfillment of our dreams. We will simply happen to be at the right place at the right time, and the rest is history?

I had always dreamed of becoming a best-selling author. I wanted to make a home in the serene countryside, close to nature, for inspiration to write my masterpieces, and travel the world with my family in-between.

On the strength of my dreams, I embarked on my first writing project, a fiction novel way back 1982. A year and two rejection slips later, I embarked on another fiction novel. That project got abandoned as I gained admission to college to study Engineering.

How did I end up reading engineering?

I was good in science subjects and I gave a kiss of life to many abandoned electrical and mechanical appliances that my parents had given up on. Conclusion, this boy is an engineer! To make it more compelling, present day realities then dictated that only professionals stood a fighting chance of getting a jobs: sweeter still, it will make my parents mighty proud. To drive the point home, my brother-in-law read Mechanical Engineering, and was doing very well. Don't I aspire to be like him? It was an ironclad case. The world of everyday reality was closer than my field of dreams. He, who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day. In 1984, I shoved my dreams into a bottom drawer and proceeded to college

My dreams lay dormant for almost 20years. December 2001, I read Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. I woke up big time. I have been awake ever since then. I am not yet a best selling author, but I am definitely edging my way there, one step at a time, one day at a time.

The only way our dreams can come true, is when we start doing something about it. Start with a baby step, one tiny step after another. With time, you will be amazed how far you had gone. The more steps you take in the direction of your dreams, the bolder you become. Soon you start seeing shafts of light at the end of the tunnel. The closer you get, the more feasible it becomes. Gradually, your fears begin to ebb away.Taking the first step is a scary business. You can determine the magnitude and direction of that first step. Some folks grab the bull by the horn, quit their day job, and go for it. Others keep their day jobs, and moonlight at sun down, till they get to the point they can comfortably fire their boss. For others still, it means a change of career.

Whichever route you take to the land of your dreams, the starting point is waking up, and doing something. Then keep on keeping on. It is only a matter of time. You will get there?

Title: How to Use the Ebb and Flow of Life to Your Advantage
Post by: pramanisa on June 27, 2007, 10:48:46 PM
Are you overwhelmed with so many activities you don't know where to start?

Are you always in a hurry but seem to getnowhere?

Do you find yourself in a state of perpetual over-drive?

Do you constantly feel tired?

Perhaps it's time to take inventory of your life.

But how?

Here is an excerpt written in the early 1900's by an author who has very wise words about thismodern day problem. Apparently this problem is notexclusive to our times.

This author makes reference to life being like the ocean'swaves: incoming waves and outflowing waves.

"Through all creation runs the same ebb and flow, ebb and flow, which you can see in the ocean. Itis the life-pulse of creation. And there is in it pulse -the long ebb and flow of spring and fall, the short ebb and flow at your own wrist. Just so there arelong spiritual spring-flows and fall-ebbs, and there are the short daily ones you can easily feel. And there are infinitely smaller ones of which you arenot yet conscious, but to which you subconsciouslyrespond. The spiritual tides of the One-Power flow in all veins. We feel them, and respond, but we as yet only dimly understand."

"But where we cannot understand we may trust. As I wandered in the wilderness of "ups and downs,"as I descended from Transfiguration Mounts to deepValleys of Shadows, and then asceded again, and yet was never quite lost, I learned more and more how to trust; until in time I came to KNOW that 'all things work together for good' to those whowork with them."

"All nature works, and then rests; works and rests.I caught its rhythm and worked and rested with it.When I felt that inertia stealing over me, I rested;and while resting my power recuperated - the tide rose in me."

I truly believe the secret to a fulfilling life is to findyour balance. For this, one of the things you must practice is listening to what yourbody tells you. If you're tired, then you may needto take time-out to unwind: read a book, meditate, take an hour off from your hectic schedule anddo something relaxing, like taking a bubble bath ora short nap.

When you see your life in synchrony with nature then it is much easier to go with the ebb and flow ofeverday living.

I hope this helps you to come more in contact withyourself and take the time to smell the roses!
Title: I Dare You To Be Successful
Post by: pramanisa on June 27, 2007, 10:52:35 PM
Just imagine how it would feel to be successful...., tohave sufficient money finding its way into your bankaccount on a monthly basis, to have absolutely no sleeplessnights about income and how you are going to pay all thebills at the end of the month. Just imagine how it wouldfeel to be able to take a vacation when you want to. Justimagine how it would feel to pay cash for your nextvehicle.......

It is good to dream! But, are we always just going to dreamabout doing things, dream about taking action, dream aboutmaking that move, dream...?

I saw an article tonight by Mike Litman. He described thedifference between successful and passive persons. Whatstruck me though was his statement at the end. It took him7 years to "find his focus". Now this is what I have beenlooking for - you see: He did not quit. He kept on trying'till he became successful - He did not quit.

Here are some of Mike's differences between successful andpassive people:

They're always passive at their jobs.
They go for their dreams very "safely".
They "La De Da" through life.
They "hope" something good happens.

From my experience, this is not the right attitude forsuccess.

"No way, Jose".

Let me share with you an ACTION of success.Let me share with you a PERSPECTIVE of success that I'veseen through people who are living their dreams, bothpersonally and financially.

**Successful people...
ACT from a sense of URGENCY.

Let me say that again.
**Successful people ACT from a sense of URGENCY.

There's an URGENCY to accomplish tasks.
There's an URGENCY to live their dreams.
There's an URGENCY to get things done.
They're ATTACKING vs. WAITING.
Big difference.

Huge difference.

You have to go to dreams with a SENSE OF URGENCY.

None of us are going to live 'till 150 years old.

You have to ignite that part of you that can CATAPULT youto GREATER productivity and ACTION.

Ask yourself:
If I was going to act from a sense of URGENCY, what 2actions would I take today?

Write them down and then DO IT.

Come on, YOU can do more than you EXPECT of yourself.

You can do it.
YES, you can!

Are you ready or really ready to make your next 7 daysawesome?

I thought so, let's go!

Have a GREAT day and never give up on your dreams! (It tookme 7 years to find my focus, it's not over until youquit).

Talk to you soon.

Thought you'd enjoy this.

A while ago I offered a young man the chance to run aniche product website. He had been telling me for a whilehow important it was to him to be "in charge" of his owndestiny and how serious he was about being successful. Thisopportunity did not cost the young man anything, but his owntime - everything, including training, had been cateredfor.

It is now 6 months later. We have been losing customers andsubscribers steadily from this site/product and our youngman shows no sign or sense of urgency.

We had a discussion about this last week. What did he speakto me about - listen to this: He spoke to me about the nextproject he has lined up!! He is not concerned about thedecreasing numbers on the current project. He is notconcerned about turning it around and making a profit orsuccess out of it. In his dream he is already living thenext successful project. In his dream...

Maybe this was too big for him, maybe he was not reallyserious, maybe he did not realise how much work ittakes.... But you know what: He was not interested inmoving out of his comfort zone. Another passive indicator.

Talk is cheap. Dreams are easy, but what we need to do is:"Actively live our dream"
Title: Does Introspection Assist in Self Progression?
Post by: pramanisa on July 01, 2007, 03:24:27 AM
Why would we need to examine our lives? What benefit does ityield? Isn't it just rehashing the past?

All of these questions have merit and I will examine each in thisarticle.

Self progression has a strong tie to one's willingness to be able toreflect on pertinent decisions. Moreover, this task, if done dailyand immediately after an action or decision, can bear much fruit.

Have you ever sat and stared out at something beautiful like aglassy lake or a foggy mountain and simply thought about your lifeand what it seemingly means?

This, simply put, is the nuts and bolts of introspection. Tointrospect is, in basic terms, reflecting or self examining whatcertain things mean to you. Introspection allows you to askyourself why you should or shouldn't have done something acertain way.

Asking poignant, yet logical, questions to yourself and resolving tocome out more insightful because of this action, clears theambiguities of life.

Becoming accountable to yourself as well as others is an extremelyempowering concept. This means that whatever comes around thebend or up the hill, you are resolved to face it without the worry ofcontaminating something due to your actions or lack thereof.

This, in turn, certainly becomes a sort of purification process andeases any turmoils that rattle your subconscious. It's trulybeneficial to resist stagnation, strive for self progression, and discover introspection's significant importance.

Without a doubt, many people would argue that the past is just thepast, and rehashing it is merely a waste of time, so just moveforward.

Well, moving forward is one thing. However, dissecting yourrecent and long-term past, is truly the only way we can learn fromour mistakes, keeping those lessons learned always in our backpocket.

Don't be afraid to be critical, if your actions or lack thereof, warrant it.

In self examination, sometimes you need to be a tough critic. Thisconcept raises the bar of standards and ensures that it doesn'tnaturally slide downward due to self-neglect.

Constantly moving forward should only proceed once examinationand accountability has been achieved. It is definitely nothing lessthan horrible advice to forget about everything when people saythis. It is basically saying turn the other cheek to reality and stepaway by moving forward.

Although, there are many scenarios in life, like a breakup in arelationship, where sometimes moving forward sooner than later isindicated; however, these still need the assistance of introspection.

In the event your ego is simply too important because everythingyou do or touch usually turns to gold and silver anyway, then it'stime to check that at the door.

By not checking your ego or narcissism, your simply becoming likethat of a plant that never grows. You are always fed with waterand sunlight but, due to your lack of introspection, you stay staticamongst the many others becoming taller and stronger around you.

Committing to yourself to daily self examination will undoubtedlyimprove your moral character, but more importantly, help in youroverall self progression. Resolve to become and stay permanentlycommitted.

Transform Old Grumpy

This is a true story. A woman had Snow White and the Seven dwarfs in her yard as lawn ornaments. One morning she found that Grumpy was missing. The thorough search of the neighborhood and many inquiries were fruitless. Grumpy had vanished.

Weeks later he suddenly appeared again in his usual spot, the same grump's expression on his painted-plaster face. But attached to him with duct tape was a photo album. One picture showed Grumpy in front of London's Big Ben. Another showed him grumping in front of the Eiffel Tower. Picture after picture documented his trek around the world. Perhaps the pranksters hoped a free world tour would cheer up the little fellow. But it did no good whatsoever. He returned as sour as when he left.

Isn't it amazing that God is so patient with us? He invests a great deal in us, shows us His wonders, educates us in His ways. Through all of this do we remain unchanged, unaffected, untouched?

What does it mean to walk by the Spirit and to be led by the Spirit (Gal. 5:16,18)? Doesn't it mean a submission to what God wants to do with us and in us? Doesn't it involve at least a willingness on our part to do what we can to cooperate?

I'm not talking about subjective "leading" which is hardly more than blindly stumbling after impulses and impressions. I mean the BIG stuff: developing spiritual discernment between right and wrong and spiritual muscle to be like Jesus even in a hostile environment.

As we continue on God's world-tour of life, let's soften up and de-grumpify. God wants us to make it to the end, not just unbroken, but transformed by the journey.
Title: I Am Powerful!
Post by: pramanisa on July 01, 2007, 09:28:14 AM
I am very powerful!
Whatever I set my mind on having, I will have.
Whatever I decide to be, I will be.
The evidence is all around me.
The power of my will has brought me precisely to where I am right now.
I have made the choices. I have held the thoughts.
I have taken the actions to create my current reality.
And I have the power to change it into whatever I want it to be.
With the choices I make, I am constantly fulfilling the vision I have for my life.
If that does not seem to be the case --
then I am deceiving myself about what I really want.
Because what I really, truly want, I will get!
What I truly wanted in the past, I already have.
If I want to build a billion-dollar business, I will take the actions necessary to do it.
If I want to sit comfortably watching TV night after night --
I will take the actions necessary for that.
Don’t be disappointed in my results --
they’re just the outward manifestation of my priorities.
I will be sure of what I truly want,
because I am sure to get it!

If a dog were your teacher
These are some of the lessons you might learn...

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face
to be pure ecstasy

When it's in your best interest
practice obedience
Let others know when they've invaded your territory
Take naps and stretch before rising
Run romp and play daily

Thrive on attention and let people touch you
Avoid biting, when a simple growl will do
On warm days stop to lie on your back on the grass
On hot days drink lots of water and lay under a shady tree
When you're happy dance around and wag your entire body

No matter how often you're scolded
don't buy into the guilt thing and pout
run right back and make friends

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm
Stop when you have had enough
Be loyal
Never pretend to be something you're not

If what you want lies buried
dig until you find it
When someone is having a bad day
be silent .....
...sit close by.

...and nuzzle them gently.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalaam's speech in Hyderabad, India: MUST read for
every Indian

"I have three visions for India. In 3000 years of our history people from all over the world have come and invaded us, captured our lands, conquered our minds. From Alexander onwards, the Greeks, the Turks, the Moguls, the Portuguese, the British, the French, the Dutch, all of them came and looted us, took over what was ours. Yet we have not done this to any other nation. We have not conquered anyone. We have not grabbed their land, their culture, their history and tried to enforce our way of life on them. Why? Because we respect the freedom of others.

That is why my first vision is that of FREEDOM. I believe that India got its first vision of this in 1857, when we started the war of
independence. It is this freedom that we must protect and nurture and build on. If we are not free, no one will respect us.

My second vision for India is DEVELOPMENT. For fifty years we have been a developing nation. It is time we see ourselves as a developed nation. We are among top 5 nations of the world in terms of GDP. We have 10 percent growth rate in most areas. Our poverty levels are falling. Our achievements are being globally recognized today. Yet we lack the self-confidence to see ourselves as a Developed nation, self-reliant and self-assured. Isn't this incorrect?

I have a THIRD vision. India must stand up to the world. Because I believe that unless India stands up to the world, no one will respect
us. Only strength respects strength. We must be strong not only as a military power but also as an economic power. Both must go hand-in-hand. My good fortune as to have worked with three great minds. Dr. Vikram Sarabhai of the Dept. of space, Professor Satish hawan, who succeeded him and Dr. Brahm Prakash, father of nuclear material. I was lucky to have worked with all three of them closely and consider this the great opportunity of my life.

I see four milestones in my career:

ONE: Twenty years I spent in ISRO. I was given the opportunity to be the project director for India's first satellite launch vehicle,
SLV3. The one that launched Rohini. These years played a very important role in my life of Scientist.

TWO: After my ISRO years, I joined DRDO and got a chance to be the part of India's guided missile program. It was my second bliss
when Agni met its mission requirements in 1994.

THREE: The Dept. of Atomic Energy and DRDO had this tremendous partnership in the recent nuclear tests, on May 11 and 13. This was
the third bliss. The joy of participating with my team in these nuclear tests and proving to the world that India can make it, that
we are no longer a developing nation but one of them. It made me feel very proud as an Indian. The fact that we have now developed for Agni a re-entry structures, for which we have developed this new material. A Very light material called carbon-carbon.

FOUR: One day an orthopedic surgeon from Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences visited my laboratory. He lifted the material and found it
so light that he took me to his hospital and showed me his patients. There were these little girls and boys with heavy metallic callipers
weighing over three Kg. each, dragging their feet around. He said to me: "Please remove the pain of my patients." In three weeks, we made this Floor reaction Orthosis 300-gram callipers and took them to the orthopaedic centre. The children didn't believe their eyes. From dragging around a three kg. load on their legs, they could now move around! Their parents had tears in their eyes. That was my fourth bliss!

Why is the media here so negative? Why are we in India so embarrassed to recognize our own strengths, our achievements? We are such a great nation. We have so many amazing success stories, but we refuse to acknowledge them. Why? We are the first in milk production. We are number one in Remote sensing satellites. We are the second largest producers of wheat. We
are the second largest producers of rice.
took at Dr. Sudarshan, he has transferred the tribal village into a self-sustaining, self-driving unit. There are millions of such
achievements but our media is only obsessed in the bad news and failures and disasters.

I was in Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli Newspaper. It was the day after a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had
taken place. The Hamas had struck. But the front page of the newspaper had the picture of a Jewish gentleman who in five years had
transformed his desert land into an orchid and a granary. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The gory details of
killings, bombardments, deaths, were inside in the newspaper, buried among other news. In India we only read about death, sickness,
terrorism, crime.
Why are we so NEGATIVE?

Another question: Why are we, as a nation so obsessed with foreign things? We want foreign TVs, we want foreign shirts. We want foreign technology. Why this obsession with everything imported. Do we not realize that self-respect comes with self-reliance?

I was in Hyderabad giving this lecture, when a 14-year-old girl asked me for my autograph. I asked her what her goal in life is: She
replied: "I want to live in a developed India." For her, you and I will have to build this developed India. You must proclaim. India is
not a under-developed nation, it is a highly developed nation. "

Got 10 minutes for your country? If yes, then read; otherwise, choice is yours. YOU say that our government is inefficient. YOU say that
our laws are too old. YOU say that the municipality does not pick up the garbage. YOU say that the phones don't work, the railways are
a joke, the airline is the worst in the world, and mails never reach their destination. YOU say that our country has been fed to the dogs
and is the absolute pits. YOU say, say and say. What do YOU do about it? Take a person on his way to Singapore. Give him a name - YOURS. Give him a face - YOURS. YOU walk out of the airport and you are at your International best. In Singapore you don't throw cigarette butts on the roads or eat in the stores. YOU are as proud of their Underground Links as they are. You pay $5 (approx. Rs. 60) to drive through Orchard Road (equivalent of Mahim Causeway or Pedder Road) between 5 PM and 8 PM. YOU comeback to the parking lot to punch your parking ticket if you have over stayed in a restaurant or a shopping mall irrespective of your status identity.
In Singapore you don't say anything, DO YOU? YOU wouldn't dare to eat in public during Ramadan, in Dubai. YOU would not dare to go out without your head covered in Jeddah. YOU would not dare to buy an employee of the telephone exchange in London at 10 pounds (Rs. 650) a month to, "see to it that my STD and ISD calls are billed to someone else." YOU would not dare to speed beyond 55 mph (88 km/h) in Washington and then tell the traffic cop, "Jaanta hai sala main kaun hoon (Do you know who I am?). I am so and so's son.
Take your two bucks and get lost. " YOU wouldn't chuck an empty coconut shell anywhere other than the garbage pail on the beaches in Australia and New Zealand. Why don't YOU spit Paan on the streets of Tokyo? Why don't YOU use examination jockeys or buy fake
certificates in Boston? We are still talking of the same YOU. YOU who can respect and conform to a foreign system in other countries but cannot in your own. You who will throw papers and cigarettes on the road the moment you touch Indian ground. If you can be an involved and appreciative citizen in an alien country why cannot you be the same here in India.

Once in an interview, the famous Ex-municipal commissioner of Bombay Mr. Tinaikar had a point to make. "Rich people's dogs are
walked on the streets to leave their affluent droppings all over the place," he said. "And then the same people turn around to criticize and blame the authorities for inefficiency and dirty pavements. What do they expect the officers to do? Go down with a broom every time their dog feels the pressure in his bowels? In America every dog owner has to clean up after his pet has done the job. Same in Japan. Will the Indian citizen do that here?" He's right. We go to the polls to choose a government and after that forfeit all responsibility. We sit back wanting to be pampered and expect the government to do everything for us whilst our contribution is totally negative. We expect the government to clean up but we are not going to stop chucking garbage all over the place nor are we going to stop to pick an up a stray piece of paper and throw it in the bin. We expect the railways to provide clean bathrooms but we are not
going to learn the proper use of bathrooms. We want Indian Airlines and Air India to provide the best of food and toiletries but we are
not going to stop pilfering at the least opportunity. This applies even to the staff who is known not to pass on the service to the
public.

When it comes to burning social issues like those related to women, dowry, girl child and others, we make loud drawing room
protestations and continue to do the reverse at home. Our excuse? "It's the whole system, which has to change, how will
it matter if I alone forego my sons' rights to a dowry." So who's going to change the system? & work miracles for us with a majestic sweep of his hand. Or we leave the country and run away.

Like lazy cowards hounded by our fears we run to America to bask in their glory and praise their system. When New York becomes insecure we run to England. When England experiences unemployment, we take the next flight out to the Gulf. When the Gulf is war struck, we demand to be rescued and brought home by the Indian government. Everybody is out to abuse and rape the country. Nobody thinks of feeding the system. Our conscience is mortgaged to money.

Dear Indians, The article is highly thought inductive, calls for a great deal of introspection and pricks one's conscience too.... I
am echoing John F. Kennedy's words to his fellow Americans to relate to Indians.....

"ASK WHAT WE CAN DO FOR INDIA AND DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO MAKE
INDIA WHAT AMERICA AND OTHER WESTERN COUNTRIES ARE TODAY"

Let's do
what India needs from us.
Title: Failure is celebration time!
Post by: pramanisa on July 04, 2007, 03:59:39 AM
Hi folks,

A nice piece…

Failure is my favorite subject. For I have spent my life failing. My failures have not been once in a lifetime event. They have been too numerous even to begin listing them here. Let me brag a bit more. My failures have never been ordinary failures. Whenever I failed, I was literally on the street not knowing where my next meal would come from.

Jim Rohn, the foremost success and motivational guru of our century, and a person I admire most, once said failures should conduct seminars so that we can learn from their failures. That is why I got inspired to write this piece.

Failure is celebration time!

The history is full of people who failed even thousands of times and what they did with those failures have made humankind lead a life which would have been unimaginable but for those failures. Whether it be Thomas Edison or a Colonel Sanders, their failure have created products and lifestyles which have changed the way the world lives.

Therefore, what happens when a determined individual fails and how does failures ultimately become a celebration?

People who fail often are natural leaders

Leaders Do. They re-do. They do not wait for precedence and play safe. They are looking at the future and willing to take calculated risks to embrace a future that would make life better for others. They are perfectly willing to fail in the bargain. They take responsibility for their failures and learn from it. They have passion for what they do and improve upon their failures and persist until they make a success of it.

People who fail learn more

The leaders thrive on failures. They in fact seem to welcome and embrace it. Because they know they can make a difference, they never fear failure. They persevere in spite of failures. Every failure for them is learning on how not to do something or how to do it better. For the achievers failure is the way of life. Every failure makes them that much more determined to succeed.

Failure as a weapon

Failure is a weapon for true blue leaders. They learn the disciplines through their failures. They sharpen themselves against the grindstone of failure. There is no excuse for failure, only a determination to succeed.

Failures programs you to success

Every failure has a built in mechanism to auto correct and reprograms you for success. Therefore, failures are just a way of programming you to improved success. You only need to activate the auto correct mechanism and give it all you got for it to work successfully.

Fear of failure is the biggest roadblock to your success. When you have overcome the fear of failure, you have overcome your procrastination and excuses for inaction. Thereafter you are well on your way to fail, learn, and succeed like never before.

If you have started to fail is not it time for celebration? You are already well on the road to success!

Not everyone is healthy enough to have a front row seat in our lives.
There are some people in your life that need to be loved from a DISTANCE.
It's amazing what you can accomplish when you let go of, or at least
minimize your time with, draining, negative, incompatible,
not-going-anywhere relationships/friendships.
Observe the relationships around you. Pay attention.
Which ones lift and which ones lean?
Which ones encourage and which ones discourage?
Which ones are on a path of growth uphill and which ones are going downhill?
When you leave certain people do you feel better or feel worse?
Which ones always have drama or don't really understand, know or appreciate you?
The more you seek quality, respect, growth, peace of mind, love and truth around you...the easier it will become for you to decide who gets to sit in the front row and who should be moved to the balcony of Your Life.
"If you cannot change the people around you, CHANGE the people you are around."
Remember that the people we hang with will have an impact on both our lives and our income. And so we must be careful to choose the people we hang out with, as well as the information with which we feed our minds.
We should not share our dreams with negative people, Nor feed our dreams with negative thoughts.
It's your choice and your life..... It's up to you who and what you let in it......

Steps To Happiness…

Everybody Knows:
You can't be all things to all people.
You can't do all things at once.
You can't do all things equally well.
You can't do all things better than everyone else.
Your humanity is showing just like everyone else's.

So:

You have to find out who you are, and be that.
You have to decide what comes first, and do that.
You have to discover your strengths, and use them.
You have to learn not to compete with others,
Because no one else is in the contest of *being you*.

Then:

You will have learned to accept your own uniqueness.
You will have learned to set priorities and make decisions.
You will have learned to live with your limitations.
You will have learned to give yourself the respect that is due.
And you'll be a most vital mortal.

Dare To Believe:

That you are a wonderful, unique person.
That you are a once-in-all-history event.
That it's more than a right, it's your duty, to be who you are.
That life is not a problem to solve, but a gift to cherish.
And we'll be able to stay one up on what used to get us.

May God Bless you and keep you safe.

Strength of a Man & Beauty of a Woman...

Strength of a Man

The strength of a man isn't seen in the width of his shoulders.
It is seen in the width of his arms that encircle you.

The strength of a man isn't in the deep tone of his voice.
It is in the gentle words he whispers.

The strength of a man isn't how many buddies he has.
It is how good a buddy he is with his kids.

The strength of a man isn't in how respected he is at work.
It is in how respected he is at home.

The strength of a man isn't in how hard he hits.
It is in how tender he touches.

The strength of a man isn't how many women he's Loved by.
It is in can he be true to one woman.

The strength of a man isn't in the weight he can lift.
It is in the burdens he can understand and overcome.

Beauty of a Woman

The beauty of a woman
Is not in the clothes she wears,
The figure she carries,
Or the way she combs her hair.

The beauty of a woman
Must be
seen from her eyes,
Because that is the doorway to her heart,
The place where love resides.

The beauty of a woman
Is not in a facial mole,
But true beauty in a woman
Is reflected in her soul.

It is the caring that she lovingly gives,
The passion that she shows,
The beauty of a woman
With passing years-only grows.

If you woke up this morning
with more health than illness,
you are more blessed than the
million who won't survive the week.

If you have never experienced
the danger of battle,
the loneliness of imprisonment,
the agony of torture or
the pangs of starvation,
you are ahead of 20 million people
around the world.

If you attend a church meeting
without fear of harassment,
arrest, torture, or death,
you are more blessed than almost
three billion people in the world.

If you have food in your refrigerator,
clothes on your back, a roof over
your head and a place to sleep,
you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank,
in your wallet, and spare change
in a dish someplace, you are among
the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If your parents are still married and alive,
you are very rare.

If you hold up your head with a smile
on your face and are truly thankful,
you are blessed because the majority can,
but most do not.

If you can hold someone's hand, hug them
or even touch them on the shoulder,
you are blessed because you can
offer God's healing touch.

If you can read this message,
you are more blessed than over
two billion people in the world
that cannot read anything at all.

You are so blessed in ways
you may never even know.

Don't miss the boat!
"All I Really Need to Know About Life, I Learned from Noah's Ark"
(1) Don't miss the boat.
(2) Don't forget we're all in the same boat.
(3) Plan ahead--it wasn't raining when Noah built the ark.
(4) Stay fit--when you're 600 years old someone might ask you to do something
really big.
(5) Don't listen to critics, just get on with what has to be done.
(6) For safety's sake, travel in pairs.
(7) Two heads are better than one.
(8) Build your future on high ground.
(9) Speed isn't always an advantage; after all, the snails were on the same ark
as the cheetahs.
(10) When you're stressed, float awhile.
(11) Remember, amateurs built the ark; professionals built the Titanic.
(12) Remember that the woodpeckers inside are a larger threat than the storm
outside.
(13) No matter what the storm, when God is with you, there's a rainbow waiting.

What can you do TODAY...this very moment?

A central teaching in most spiritual traditions is:
What you wish to experience, provide for another.

Look to see, now, what it is you wish to experience
in your own life, and in the world. Then see if there
is another for whom you may be the source of that.

If you wish to experience peace, provide peace for another.

If you wish to know that you are safe, cause another to
know that they are safe.

If you wish to better understand seemingly incomprehensible
things, help another to better understand.

If you wish to heal your own sadness or anger, seek to heal
the sadness or anger of another.

Those others are waiting for you now. They are looking to
you for guidance, for help, for courage, for strength, for
understanding, and for assurance at this hour. Most of all,
they are looking to you for love.

My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.

A--Accept
Accept others for who they are and for the choices they've made even if you have
difficulty understanding their beliefs, motives, or actions.

B--Break Away
Break away from everything that stands in the way of what you hope to accomplish
with your life.

C--Create
Create a family of friends whom you can share your hopes, dreams, sorrows, and
happiness with.

D--Decide
Decide that you'll be successful and happy come what may, and good things will
find you. The roadblocks are only minor obstacles along the way.

E--Explore
Explore and experiment. The world has much to offer, and you have much to give.
And every time you try something new, you'll learn more about yourself.

F--Forgive
Forgive and forget. Grudges only weigh you down and inspire unhappiness and
grief. Soar above it, and remember that everyone makes mistakes.

G--Grow
Leave the childhood monsters behind. They can no longer hurt you or stand in
your way.

H--Hope
Hope for the best and never forget that anything is possible as long as you
remain dedicated to the task.

I--Ignore
Ignore the negative voice inside your head. Focus instead on your goals and
remember your accomplishments. Your past success is only a small inkling of what
the future holds.

J--Journey
Journey to new worlds, new possibilities, by remaining open-minded. Try to learn
something new every day, and you'll grow.

K--Know
Know that no matter how bad things seem, they'll always get better. The warmth
of spring always follows the harshest winter.

L--Love
Let love fill your heart instead of hate. When hate is in your heart, there's
room for nothing else, but when love is in your heart, there's room for endless
happiness.

M--Manage
Manage your time and your expenses wisely, and you'll suffer less stress and
worry. Then you'll be able to focus on the important things in life.

N--Notice
Never ignore the poor, infirm, helpless, weak, or suffering. Offer your
assistance when possible, and always your kindness and understanding.

O--Open
Open your eyes and take in all the beauty around you. Even during the worst of
times, there's still much to be thankful for.

P--Play
Never forget to have fun along the way. Success means nothing without happiness.

Q--Question
Ask many questions, because you're here to learn.

R--Relax
Refuse to let worry and stress rule your life, and remember that things always
have a way of working out in the end.

S--Share

invest in others will return to you many times over.

T--Try
Even when your dreams seem impossible to reach, try anyway. You'll be amazed by
what you can accomplish.

U--Use
Use your gifts to your best ability. Talent that's wasted has no value. Talent
that's used will bring unexpected rewards.

V--Value
Value the friends and family members who've supported and encouraged you, and be
there for them as well.

W--Work
Work hard every day to be the best person you can be, but never feel guilty if
you fall short of your goals. Every sunrise offers a second chance.

X--X-Ray
Look deep inside the hearts of those around you and you'll see the goodness and

Title: used track
Post by: pramanisa on July 13, 2007, 04:42:08 AM

A group of children were playing near two railway tracks, one still in use while
the other disused. Only one child played on the disused track, the rest on the
operational track.

The train is coming, and you are just beside the track interchange. You can make
the train change its course to the disused track and save most of the kids.
However, that would also mean the lone child playing by the disused track would
be sacrificed. Or would you rather let the train go its way?

Let's take a pause to think what kind of decision we could make................

Most people might choose to divert the course of the train, and sacrifice only
one child. You might think the same way, I guess. Exactly, I thought the same
way initially because to save most of the children at the expense of only one
child was rational decision most people would make, morally and emotionally.
But, have you ever thought that the child choosing to play on the disused track
had in fact made the right decision to play at a safe place?

Nevertheless, he had to be sacrificed because of his ignorant friends who chose
to play where the danger was. This kind of dilemma happens around us everyday.
In the office, community, in politics and especially in a democratic society,
the minority is often sacrificed for the interest of the majority, no matter how
foolish or ignorant the majority are, and how farsighted and knowledgeable the
minority are. The child who chose not to play with the rest on the operational
track was sidelined. And in the case he was sacrificed, no one would shed a tear
for him.

The great critic Leo Velski Julian who told the story said he would not try to
change the course of the train because he believed that the kids playing on the
operational track should have known very well that track was still in use, and
that they should have run away if they heard the train's sirens. If the train
was diverted, that lone child would definitely die because he never thought the
train could come over to that track! Moreover, that track was not in use
probably because it was not safe. If the train was diverted to the track, we
could put the lives of all passengers on board at stake! And in your attempt to
save a few kids by sacrificing one child, you might end up sacrificing hundreds
of people to save these few kids.

While we are all aware that life is full of tough decisions that need to be
made, we may not realize that hasty decisions may not always be the right one.

"Remember that what's right isn't always popular... and what's popular isn't
always right." Everybody makes mistakes; that's why they put erasers on
pencils.

Difficult by Design

Joshua 7-9, Luke 1:21-38
Key Verse: Luke 1:38

Smooth sailing is preferred over rough seas; paved roads over potholes. But sometimes the rough seas and potholes are by God's design to accomplish His purpose. At that point, the follower of Christ must decide whether to follow God in the tough times or not.

Mary experienced a time that was difficult by design. These verses record part of her predicament: an unexpected pregnancy. Imagine as best you can the full emotion of the situation. She, an unmarried virgin, was asked to have a baby. Undoubtedly she would become the object of much doubt and ridicule. The truth would be too unimaginable for people to believe. She would bear the shame. In Matthew's account, it is noted that Joseph even considered divorcing her (1:19).

Yet Mary's attitude was remarkable. She said to the angel, "May it be to me as you have said" (v. 38). Her statement revealed her character. She was ready to endure the doubt and ridicule. God's work was more important to her than her reputation.

Following God will take you down rough roads at times. Sometimes you'll be tempted to find the easier path. The best road to travel, however, is always the one of God's choosing.

Are you on the right path, doing God's will? When the way is rough, pray like Mary did, surrendering to God's work in your life.

Learning From Mistakes

Thomas Edison tried two thousand different materials in search of a filament for the light bulb. When none worked satisfactorily, his assistant complained, "All our work is in vain. We have learned nothing."

Edison replied very confidently, "Oh, we have come a long way and we have learned a lot. We now know that there are two thousand elements which we cannot use to make a good light bulb."

Perhaps……
You have forgotten how it feels to laugh simply to laugh. How it feels to know for certain the depths and source of your feelings.

Perhaps…..
You've forgotten how it feels to reach out, knowing with certainty that you will touch what you reach for.

Perhaps…..
You've forgotten the tingle of your body when what you reach for, reaches back to you……and touches you.

Perhaps…..
You've forgotten what it's like to live in the innocence and purity of love. And since perhaps you've forgotten, I have to once again remind you. For I have not forgotten…….and I still believe.

You ask me what it is that I believe in, and my answer to you is simple. I believe in…….. the possibilities.

Title: 90 /10 principle - something to learn
Post by: pramanisa on July 14, 2007, 02:46:42 AM
Hi,

Be patient enough to go thru' the following, its really good & does make

you realise the tiny-miny mistakes that we all make in our day to day life.

Title: The 90/10 principle Author : Stephen Covey

Discover the 90/10 Principle. It will change your life (at least the way

you react to situations). What is this principle?

10% of life is made up of what happens to you. 90% of life is decided by

how you react.

What does this mean? We really have no control over 10% of what happens to

us. We cannot stop the car from breaking down. The plane will be late

arriving, which throws our whole schedule off. A driver may cut us off in

traffic. We have no control over this 10%. The other 90% is different. You

determine the other 90%. How? By your reaction. You cannot control a red

light., but you can control your reaction. Don't let people fool you; YOU

can control how you react.

Let's use an example. You are eating breakfast with your family. Your

daughter knocks over a cup of coffee onto your business shirt. You have no

control over what just what happened. What happens when the next will be

determined by how you react. You curse. You harshly scold your daughter for

knocking the cup over. She breaks down in tears. After scolding her, you

turn to your spouse and criticize her for placing the cup too close to the

edge of the table. A short verbal battle follows. You storm upstairs and

change your shirt. Back downstairs, you find your daughter has been too

busy crying to finish breakfast and get ready for school. She misses the

bus. Your spouse must leave immediately for work. You rush to the car and

drive your daughter to school. Because you are late, you drive 40 miles an

hour in a 30 mph speed limit. After a 15-minute delay and throwing $60

traffic fine away, you arrive at school. Your daughter runs into the

building without saying goodbye. After arriving at the office 20 minutes

late, you find you forgot your briefcase. Your day has started terrible. As

it continues, it seems to get worse and worse. You look forward to coming

home, When you arrive home, you find small wedge in your relationship with

your spouse and daughter.

Why? Because of how you reacted in the morning. Why did you have a bad day?

A) Did the coffee cause it?

B) Did your daughter cause it?

C) Did the policeman cause it?

D) Did you cause it?

The answer is D. You had no control over what happened with the coffee. How

you reacted in those 5 seconds is what caused your bad day. Here is what

could have and should have happened. Coffee splashes over you. Your

daughter is about to cry. You gently say, "It's ok honey, you just need, to

be more careful next time". Grabbing a towel you rush upstairs. After

grabbing a new shirt and your briefcase, you come back down in time to look

through the window and see your child getting on the bus. She turns and

waves. You arrive 5 minutes early and cheerfully greet the staff. Your boss

comments on how good the day you are having.

Notice the difference? Two different scenarios. Both started the same. Both

ended different. Why? Because of how you REACTED. You really do not have

any control over 10% of what happens. The other 90% was determined by your

reaction.

Here are some ways to apply the 90/10 principle.

If someone says something negative about you, don't be a sponge. Let the

attack roll off like water on glass. You don't have to let the negative

comment affect you! React properly and it will not ruin your day. A wrong

reaction could result in losing a friend, being fired, getting stressed out

etc.

How do you react if someone cuts you off in traffic? Do you lose your

temper? Pound on the steering wheel? (A friend of mine had the steering

wheel fall off) Do you curse? Does your blood pressure sky-rocket? Do you

try and bump them? WHO CARES if you arrive ten seconds later at work? Why

let the cars ruin your drive? Remember the 90/10 principle, and do not

worry about it.

You are told you lost your job. Why lose sleep and get irritated? It will

work out. Use your worrying energy and time into finding another job.

The plane is late; it is going to mangle your schedule for the day. Why

take out your frustration on the flight attendant? She has no control over

what is going on. Use your time to study, get to know the other passenger.

Why get stressed out? It will just make things worse. Now you know the

90/10 principle. Apply it and you will be amazed at the results. You will

lose nothing if you try it.

The 90/10 principle is incredible. Very few know and apply this principle.

The result? Millions of people are suffering from undeserved stress,

trials, problems and heartache. There never seem to be a success in life.

Bad days follow bad days. Terrible things seem to be constantly happening.

There is constant stress, lack of joy, and broken relationships. Worry

consumes time. Anger breaks friendships and life seems dreary and is not

enjoyed to the fullest. Friends are lost. Life is a bore and often seems

cruel. Does this describe you? If so, do not

be discouraged .

You can be different! Understand and apply the 90/10 principle. It will

change your life.

AND REMEMBER WE MUST LEARN TO CONTROL OUR EMOTIONS & NOT LET OUR EMOTIONS

CONTROL US...

Take care

Never stop caring
about the little things in life,
never stop dreaming
or give in to strife.

Never stop building bridges
that lead to promising tomorrows,
never stop trying
or give in to sorrows.

Never stop smiling
and looking forward to each new day,
But most of all my friend...
never stop shining in you own special way.

Never forget that all storms can clear,
the grayest sky can turn pure blue.
Remember, brighter tomorrows are near...
And of course, I'm always here for you.

The clue to attain the state of God

Every one desires to have bliss.  Bliss means very intensive happiness, which exists continuously.  Such bliss exists only with God.  To get such bliss, you have to attain the state of God. But the main condition to attain the state of God is not to aspire for that state and hence not to aspire for bliss.  One has to start in the spiritual path with this fundamental correction.  But every one starts with this fundamental mistake of aspiration for bliss.  Some start to achieve the state of God with hidden reference to this bliss.  In any way both are one and the same since bliss is possible only for the state of God.  You have to get the clue from God only to get such bliss.  The clue means the special knowledge (Prajnanam).

The clue is not like the industrial secret, which can be obtained somehow, and then disposing the clue-giver forever.  Such disposal cannot harm you because the clue is not at the grace of clue-giver.  This clue is special because the application of this clue is simply based on the grace of the clue-giver (God).  You have to continuously remain in the divine service of God so that the application of the clue is continuously successful. Therefore, the continuity of the application of this clue to get continuous bliss by maintaining yourself continuously in the state of God is purely based on the grace of God.

The grace of God does not end with the handing over of the clue to you.   The grace has to continue forever for its continuous successful application.  If you are not aiming at this bliss from the beginning and since your aim is only to serve God continuously without aspiring for any fruit including bliss, the point of disposal of God after getting the clue does not arise at all in your case. If you are aiming for the bliss at any time before giving the clue, the clue will not be given by God.  Even if you happen to know this clue from some human preachers or from the divine knowledge directly, the clue will not work at all.

Even after getting the clue from God, if your aim turns towards bliss, this clue shall not work from that moment.  Even after application of this clue and subsequent attainment of bliss for some time, if your aim turns towards the bliss, the clue stops functioning from that time onwards.  I am clearly stressing on this point, which is very important, because the diversion towards bliss is inevitable to human psychology at any time, which is the only possible poision.  One should be aware of this point continuously.  You have to enjoy the bliss in the state of God, which is granted to you by the grace of God feeling that you are enjoying the bliss since that is the wish of God.  By following His wish, God gets pleased.  For such pleasure of God only you are enjoying the bliss and at anytime your aim is not the bliss.

For any action (Karma), for any sacrifice (Tyaga) and for any enjoyment (Bhoga) from your side, the basis should be only the wish and pleasure of God.  Therefore, if your aim is always to give bliss to God and not to enjoy the bliss, God will be just a mirror reflection of your attitude.  Then His aim will not be to enjoy the bliss but to give you the bliss and for the fulfillment of such wish of God, God will not mind to transfer all your sins on to Him and get relieve you from the punishments (if you are unable to enjoy your own punishments in the initial stage.  In course of time you may become capable of enjoying the misery in the world and derive bliss from it).

You have to find out source of such divine knowledge. Lord is the source of divine knowldge and He comes down in human form in every generation, and He is available to you now here itself. You find Him out from His divine knoweldge.

Service to Lord in human form is the only way to please Lord. Because He is the correct place of Lord and whatever service done to Him is the service done directly to the Lord in Heaven.

Anyway

People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered.

Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.

Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies.

Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.

Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.

Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.

Build anyway.

People really need help but may attack you if you help them.

Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.

Give the world the best you've got anyway.

Imagine there is a bank that credits your account each morning with $86,400.

It carries over no balance from day to day. Every evening the bank deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day.

What would you do? Draw out every cent, of course!

Each of us has such a bank. Its name is TIME.

Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose.

It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day. If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours. There is no going back. There is no drawing against the "tomorrow."

You must live in the present on today's deposits. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness, and success! The clock is running. Make the most of today.

To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade.

To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby.

To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.

To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.

To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed the train.

To realize the value of ONE-SECOND, ask a person who just avoided an accident.

Treasure every moment that you have! And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time.

Remember that time waits for no one. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it's called the present!

CREATE HAPPINESS :  :) ;) :D ;D

Many times we develop negative thinking patterns because we become frustrated by our own
challenges and frequent adverse situations. Practicing positive thinking allows us to focus on our strengths
and accomplishments and increases our happiness and motivation. This in turn allows us to spend more time
making progress and less time feeling down and stuck. Get what you want while maintaining self respect
and good relations.

Killers of Happiness:

After you realize the Self, you see the mind for what it is - a self-created principle.
That is the mind ever creating itself. The mind is form ever creating form,
preserving form, creating new forms and destroying old forms. That is the mind,
the illusion, the great unreality, the part of you that in your thinking mind you dare
to think is real. What gives the mind that power? Does the mind have power if it is unreal?
What difference whether it has power or hasn't power, or the very words that I am saying
when the Self exists because of itself? You could live in the dream and become disturbed by it.
Or you can seek and desire with a burning desire to cognize reality and be blissful because of it.
Man's destiny leads him back to himself. Man's destiny leads him into the cognition
of his own Being; leads him further into the realization of his True Being. They say you
must step onto the spiritual path to realize the Self. You only step on the spiritual path
when you and you alone are ready, when what appears real to you loses its appearance of reality.
Then and only then are you able to detach yourself enough to seek to find a new and
permanent reality.
