• What can Spirituality can do for you?

Only Spirituality can bring the lasting happiness or contentment that each of us seeks through anything we do. This is because spiritual practice is the tool to experience our divine nature (soul) or God - the only source of lasting Bliss. Everything else in this world, such as external objects, relationships, career, wealth, etc. are temporary in nature and hence, give fleeting happiness and unhappiness. In fact science of Spirituality states that the very reason we are born is to experience our true Blissful nature by completing our Destiny and making spiritual progress through spiritual practice!

The following further explains why Spirituality is important and should be practiced by one and all:

80% of our problems, especially major ones like grave illness, failure in marriage or career, etc., are due to spiritual factors like Destiny, negative energies, etc. Practicing Spirituality alone can reduce these spiritual problems, giving us a better quality of life.

As one studies and practices Spirituality one progresses spiritually and merges with the Omniscient God principle. Thus, Spirituality is the only subject that can bestow  Omniscience, that is, the knowledge/truth behind everything.

Even at the level of society, one can see the tremendous decline in spiritual and moral purity due to the decline in spiritual practice. The rampant unrighteousness, corruption, terrorism, immorality, etc., can only be eliminated if the components of society, namely the people, purify their very attitudes by undertaking the spiritual path.

Below is a glimpse of the benefits of Spirituality in day to day life:

Since spiritual practice works at the subtle, attitude level, it alone brings lasting reduction in undesirable attitudes or personality defects like anger, envy, intolerance, etc., gradually improving our day to day interactions.

By reducing unnecessary thinking or activity of the mind, Spirituality increases concentration, improving performance in any activity.

It has therapeutic benefits in mental illnesses, especially in conditions like obsessive compulsive disorders.

It also helps develop a philosophical attitude and inner strength, that help one calmly face even dire or uncontrollable circumstances like accidents or incurable disease, aging, death, etc., in our life or that of our loved ones.

It helps develop a positive attitude, increasing our joy in life.

The importance of Spirituality for our well being at all levels - physical, psychological as well as spiritual - cannot be emphasized enough. However, Spirituality is a science of experience, that is, its benefits have to be experienced by doing actual spiritual practice daily.

• Problems in our life.

When we have problems, we can not seem to really solve them. Even our friends and parents do not know what way is best.

There is somebody who knows what is best for us, and that is Baba. He is not a mental hallucination. We will be able to see Him, we will be able to hear Him, we will be able to dine with Him. He is not only our Father, but also our eternal Comrade. We have to give Him responsibility for ourselves.

His Eyes have better vision than ours. His Ears hear more quickly than our human ears. We talk to human beings who have no time to hear us; they have so many things to do in the outer world. But we very often forget that there is somebody else who is eager to listen. He is always eager to hear from us, but we do not speak to Him.

If we know how to look at a problem, half the strength of the problem goes away. But usually we try to avoid the problem; we try to run away from it. To have a problem is not a crime, so why should we be afraid to face it? Our difficulty is that when something unfortunate happens in our life, we immediately feel that we are at fault, that we have done something wrong. We must know that there are also wrong forces, undivine forces, hostile forces
around us.

By blaming ourselves and then trying to hide, we do not solve the problem. We have to face the problem and see whether we really are to blame. In order to solve the problem of ours, we have to practice the spiritual life and develop inner strength, aspiration and inner detachment. Slowly, gradually, we will become inwardly strong, and then we will be able to solve the problems caused by my own inner weaknesses.

As soon as we have conquered a difficulty, we will find that it repeats itself on a higher and subtler level. It is the same essential weakness in ourselves which we are made to face in a more refined form.

Baba Said....

Baba said "The body is the chariot, and the self is it's master; intellect is the charioteer and the mind is the reins; the senses are the horses and sense objects their paths. He, who has no understanding and whose mind is charioteer, does not reach his destination (get realization) but goes through the round of births and deaths".

……“Sitting in Shirdi Masjid, Baba had said that there are many paths, but one of the paths leads to God through Dwarkamayi. When one analyses how Baba led thousands of people towards God realization at Shirdi a certain pattern evolves. The basic principles of the Sai path are based on:

(a) The existence in physical form of a perfect being known variously as a Perfect Master, a Sadguru or a Qutub as called by the Sufis. A Qutub simply means an axis, a pivot around which others, both living and non-living, revolve. The Perfect Master, having himself experienced different stages of evolution including that of man has at last reached the stage of God. However, those among these perfect beings, who out of infinite compassion, make the greatest sacrifice of not enjoying the blissful state of God but incarnate in a human body on earth to serve the imperfect, suffering humanity are called the Perfect Masters. As Meher Baba has said, at any point of time there are five Perfect Masters on the earth in embodied form.

(b) When in human body they act both as human beings and Gods. As Gods they have infinite power, infinite knowledge, infinite happiness and infinite existence. Like God they are Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient enjoying the powers of the Almighty. They share their power, knowledge and pleasure with the millions of human beings by methods un¬perceivable by human beings and are known as Leelas or divine miracles. All miracles are based on the laws of nature, only one has to know, experience and master it. All the elemental forces of nature like fire, water, air etc. defined as deities by the Hindus, work under their command or wish. As Gods they see everything in themselves and themselves in everything. So they serve everyone without any differentiation as if they are serving themselves. They see God in everyone, even though others may not be able to see God in them. They give infinite love to others and take infinite pain from others. Once any human being or any species is linked with them in any manner, they ensure that these creatures are evolved, life after life till they merge with God from where they came. This ultimate stage of evolution is ordinarily known as Mukti or Moksha.

(c) These Perfect Masters alone are capable of leading human beings to God realization. They follow what is common and universal in all religions i.e., humanism based on love. Out of love they not only take care of the spiritual evolution of the devotees but also their temporal requirements. Once one has surrendered to them they look after all needs of the devotee as a mother would do for a child. They can go to any extent, even to sacrifice their human body, to protect their children. That’s what Baba did for many as can be read in Sri Sai Satcharitra, and as experienced by many. To develop closer and closer link with Him, one has to develop faith in Him, even patiently under the most trying circumstances. Also, to develop the qualities of humility, sacrifice, tolerance and steadfastness in devotion and actions desired by the Sadguru. One will evolve earlier than others worshipping too many deities if he follows this path of Guru. Baba used to give visions to many people in the form of their deities, like Hanuman, Ganesh etc. which convinced them that there is no difference between Baba and any other deity or even God. One can therefore, at the first stage try to see all deities in Baba, worship Him in the method in which other deities are worshipped. In short, one should try to see and seek everything in and from Baba. This path may be difficult at the initial stage but can certainly be achieved with steadfastness and faith in Baba. So let us try.”…….

•                          That's Life
We never get what we want, We never want what we get,
We never have what we like, We never like what we have.
And still we live & love.  That's life...
Giving someone all your love is never an assurance
that they'll love you back!
Don't expect love in return; Just wait for it to grow in their heart,
But if it doesn't, be content it grew in yours.
It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone,
An hour to like someone, And a day to love someone,
But it takes a lifetime to forget someone.

To those people who mean something to you,
To those who have touched your life in one way or another,
To those who make you smile when you really need it,
To those that make you see the brighter side of things When you are really down,
To those who you want to know
That you appreciate their love and friendship.

• Creator is the doer

Humility comes in when one sees that only the Creator is the Doer and one is merely a puppet in His divine will. Those who do not rise above the plane of senses, wholly or partially remain in duality. And to remain in duality is a sin. In spite of the continuous efforts to overcome the sins and prove oneself as good and pious in the eyes of others, one commits more sins and tells lies. In trying to overcome (the sins) one gathers the dirt of impious deeds and hides them inside and becomes the prey of lots of worldly diseases and continuously remains in sins.

Ego is the main hindrance in self-analysis and man-making, and with ego one ever acts as doer. Humility is not possible unless one overcomes the mind and its identification through the sense organs. If one sees the world with open eyes and with closed eyes one's self within, one can see the underlying disadvantages to some extent. Thus we can remove the physical ego, but then there is also the astral and the causal ego. When one rises above the astral body, one sees the underlying causes of ego in total. Only after removing the physical, astral and causal ego, does one obtain humility in full. Then he is a conscious co-worker of the divine plan and takes Him as the Doer.

• God doesn't partition you into pieces and loves some and not loves others. That's what people do. That's what you do. God, who created you, accepts and loves every little part of you, even those you deny and hate in yourself. So next time you try to dislike a part of you, just pause, look and remember that God loves it.

• God is always with you, seen or unseen, saint or sinner. Giving you air, supporting your footsteps, nourishing you with sunshine, God is here with you. The separateness you sometimes feel is an illusion, in truth you are never alone.

You keep wanting to know how things will play out, keep asking to see the future. God doesn't give anyone the power to know the future, because life becomes maddeningly boring when you know everything upfront. So, instead of struggling, enjoy the uncertainty - to be alive means to not know.

You don't need a special place or special time to pray. You don't need to be in a special mood to pray. Praying is like breathing, - continuous, essential, life-giving, - praying is the conversation with God you start with birth and continue into old age. Praying is your celebration of God, - everything you do, everything you think, everything you say is another word, another sentence of your prayer.

• Reduce Your Wants   ;D

Constantly discriminate between the Preya-Marga and the Sreya-Marga, the Pleasant Path and the Good Path. You will have to do this again and again every time the mind tempts you to follow the ways of the world, to imitate others. This desire to imitate others is exceedingly powerful and overpowers even a wise man. Worry not about finding money to buy a scooter (when you have no need for a scooter) just because all your friends come on scooters. Do not bother about how to send your son to the States only because your neighbors have sent theirs to California and Cambridge. Keep away from temptations of all sorts. Do not walk into places of temptation and then struggle to resist temptation. It will tax your will unnecessarily. Even if you succeed in resisting the temptation, it may leave a craving in the mind. Craving induces restlessness.

Do not multiply your wants and then feel like a beggar. Reduce your wants and feel like a king. Why should you enter a cloth shop and see many varieties presented before your eyes when you have enough clothing at home? Either you will buy unnecessary things. Or feel sad, "Oh, I don’t have this. Ah, how I wish I could buy that!" Peace of mind and material greed are incompatibles. They do not go together. Make your choice.

Reduce your wants to the barest minimum consistent with your general external activities. The fewer the wants and possessions the greater the peace of mind. Possession gives pain. The point is so obvious that it needs no explanation. Hire a taxi rather than own a car. Live in a rented flat rather than possess your own house.

Most of us suffer, not for want of right knowledge or wisdom, but for want of exercise of that wisdom in our daily life. If you want peace of mind, at once stop doing all those things which you know you should not do. And, equally important, start doing all those things which you know you should do. This will set you on the right track, and when you are on the right track, God’s Grace will flow into your life and make it more and more sublime. You will gain peace of mind and radiate peace all around you. Faith has to be exercised. Love has to be exercised. Selflessness has to be exercised. Charity has to be practiced. Dispassion has to be practiced. Devotion has to be cultivated. These qualities, these virtues do not arise, in you over night. They have to be assiduously cultivated before they can become a natural, a habitual, an integral part of your being.
