  • Baba Sai !

     Today I learnt....

It takes strength to be firm,
It takes courage to be gentle.
It takes strength to stand guard,
It takes courage to let down your guard.
    It takes strength to conquer,
    It takes courage to surrender.
It takes strength to be certain,
It takes courage to have doubt.
It takes strength to fit in,
It takes courage to stand out.
It takes strength to feel a friend's pain,
It takes courage to feel your own pain.
It takes strength to hide your own pains,
It takes courage to show them.
It takes strength to endure abuse,
It takes courage to stop it.
It takes strength to stand alone,
It takes courage to lean on another.
    It takes strength to love,
It takes courage to be loved.
    It takes strength to survive,
    It takes courage to live.

  • Baba today I learnt...

    Always Remember To Forget
    Always remember to forget
The things that made you sad.
    But never forget to remember
The things that made you glad.

    Always remember to forget
    The friends that proved untrue.
    But never forget to remember
Those that have stuck by you.

    Always remember to forget
    The troubles that passed away.
    But never forget to remember
The blessings that come each day.

Thanks Baba Sai for your support to us. JaiSaiRam

  • A RAY OF HOPE

From the skies of life, tearing the clouds
of sadness there comes a ray of hope.
Enlightens our world and gives us strength
     to cope.

It fills in light. It fills in strength.
And teaches us never to bend.

It makes us smile. It brings us joy.
Makes us as happy as a child with toy.

A Ray of Hope is as beam of light
Which removes from our lives the darkest night
A Person, who has controlled his mind, can achieve any success in his life. How far you are trying to control your mind?

  • Increase your will power

Nothing can be achieved without willpower and self belief. If you behave deep inside that you can achieve something you will definitely achieve it. Yoga has many techniques by which you build not only but also mental strength. That's why so many people practicing yoga see the benefits spilling over to other aspects of their lives. Artistic yoga works on all five aspects of physical fitness - strength, endurance, flexibility, agility and co-ordinative ability. In addition to physical benefits like weight loss, muscle tone, higher energy levels, yoga works on the emotional and mental layers of a human being so that he or she feels more powerful and energized.

  • Be Different

    Aum Sairam

On the path of evolution, we move from being a willing and obedient member of the group to wanting to take control over our own lives. This is a necessary but difficult transition.

At this point we are afraid of being ourselves. We are afraid of being unique and different. We are afraid of being individually powerful, and even successful. For all of these things stand against the old ways that told us that conformity was right and individualism was wrong.

For as long as we possibly can, we make a compromise. We try to live both lives - the dependent tribal life and the independent personal life - as contradictory and opposite as they are.

We want approval from others. We want to be accepted and popular. We seek this comfort to overcome our fear and feel more secure. ...So, at times when we conform, we don't feel the fear of living. But we might lose the new sense of adventure, discovery, daring and enthusiasm for life that the questioning and questing have brought us.

Nature never repeats herself, and the possibilities of one human soul will never be found in another.

  • Life Is Hard

    Aum Sairam

Life's hard to live and still people make it harder to live. Just living for right takes so much that I wonder how people have time to do wrong, foolish things, to make life more complicated.

Everyday is a duty, one hundred things to do and think of, you have your family, your friends, your work, your home, your God, all to tend to in twenty four hours. You oversee cooking, cleaning, clothing. You have your daily prayer schedule or temple to go to, you have the needs of father, Mother, Brother, Sister, Children to tend to. No one day is like the other, many of the surprises are unwelcome.

We live each day working hard not knowing what tomorrow will bring. We have a life to live and to live it righteously takes a lot, each day. Morning to night is gone in no time. There is money to manage and just when you have managed to save the rare bit something unexpected comes along and you have to give it away.

You pay for your health, eat right, live right, spend to be healthy and then unexpectedly something small, something stupid comes up and big money goes, your days go. Your whole schedule goes. Life is so unexpected. You just about have time to be with the ones you love and you live in that fragile stage because you never know when the ones you love will go. We are busy living hard lives and we don't have choice but to live it.

And so far I have just dealt with the external requirements our Life demands. There are more important ones - the internal needs. We have so much to deal with everyday. Life by the time you are thirty is packed.

Disappointments, sad memories, regrets, past issues, people who went away, something is always on your mind. Something is always tugging at our heart strings. We have to clear our old deeds of another life-time and we have to make sure we succeed in this because it is the main reason of our lives, we have to undo all the wrong we have done in this lifetime because then we never knew better, we have to come to terms with certain things of our life, let go of other things, we have to make peace with the war, we have to end wars and we have to live with us, the us that no one knows.

Life can be so difficult, it is for almost all. Yet we are blessed to able to go on for without the Blessing of God and His kingdom could we manage any of this? We have no control over our lives yet we live it., we have no weapons against diseases yet we go on not thinking about it, we have the old to take care of, the ill to look after, the additional difficult new twists and turns to manage our daily life. Suddenly there can be a major change, suddenly there can be a major illness, suddenly there can be a death and it has happened to many. But we continue to live on. For, to live on righteously is all we are called to do.

Which is why I wonder how those who are not like us manage to live the reckless and careless lives? yes Life is struggle, hardship, sweat, work, and everything you don't want to hear. This is Life and sooner we accept it, the better.

Life is difficult, our loved ones do fall ill, they will die someday, money is a hassle, everyday living does make demands, anything happens anytime, and we don't know anything. And the unnecessary troubles human add to our journey: deceptions, greed, and backbiting, manipulations, hurt. What can we do??

Nothing, move away from what we can move away from and continue no matter what the distractions and disturbances to live righteously the way we have committed to. It is a tough road but it id our road.

We don't want it easy, we only want goodness, honor, decency, the ability to fulfill our duties, claim our soul's belongings, love who we love, live small, live well, and live honestly. We have many like us on this path, they've made it, we will too. We have a duty towards Life and never mind the millions who make it easy by taking the unrighteous path, we will live here.

    Allah Malik
A Person, who has controlled his mind, can achieve any success in his life. How far you are trying to control your mind?

  • Living Values

    Aum Sairam

Love And Respect : Love is the principle which creates and sustains human relations with dignity and depth. Spiritual love takes one into silence, and that silence has the power to unite, guide, and free people. Love is the bedrock for the belief in equality of spirit and personhood. When love is combined with faith, that creates a strong foundation for initiative and action. Love is the catalyst for change, development, and achievement

To know one's own worth and to honor the worth of others is the true way to earn respect.
Respect is an acknowledgement of the inherent worth and innate rights of the individual and the collective. These must be recognized as the central focus to draw from people a commitment to a higher purpose in life.

Freedom And Responsibility : Full freedom functions only when rights are balanced with responsibilities and choice is balanced with conscience. The most potent power to put an end to internal and external wars is the human conscience.

A responsible person fulfills the assigned duty by staying true to the aim. Duties are carried out with integrity and a sense of purpose.

Cooperation And Simplicity : One who cooperates receives cooperation. The method to give cooperation is to use the energy of the mind to create vibrations of good wishes and pure feelings for others and for the task. By remaining detached, objective and influenced by innermost values and not external circumstances, subtle cooperation in the form of wisdom emerges.

Simplicity calls on instinct, intuition, and insight to create essenceful thoughts and empathetic feelings. Simplicity is the conscience which calls upon people to rethink their values.

Happiness And Unity : Through the power of truth there is wealth, and through the power of peace there is health. Together they give happiness. Happiness is earned by those whose actions, attitude, and attributes are pure and selfless.

Unity is harmony within and among individuals in the group. Unity is sustained by concentration, energy and focusing thought, by accepting and appreciating the value of the rich array of participants and the unique contribution each can make, and by remaining loyal not only to one another but also to the task.

Honesty And Peace : Honesty means there are no contradictions or discrepancies in thoughts, words, or actions. To be honest to one’s real self and to the purpose of a task earns trust and inspires faith in others. Honesty is never to misuse that which is given in trust.

In its purest form, peace is inner silence filled with the power of truth. Peace is the prominent characteristic of what we call ‘a civilized society,’ and the character of a society can be seen through the collective consciousness of its members.

Humility And Tolerance : A person who embodies humility will make the effort to listen to and accept others. The greater the acceptance of others, the more that person will be held in high esteem, and the more that person will be listened to. One word spoken in humility has the significance of a thousand words.

Through understanding and open-mindedness, a tolerant person attracts someone different, and by genuinely accepting and accommodating that person, demonstrates tolerance in practical form.

    Allah Malik
A Person, who has controlled his mind, can achieve any success in his life. How far you are trying to control your mind?

  • Anxiety And Sri Sai

    Aum Sairam

Anxiety is uneasiness regarding something doubtful.

Anxiety is uneasiness or distress of mind regarding some uncertain event, which may involve danger or misfortune.

Anxiety is strained or solicitous desire, as for some object or purpose or eagerness, as one’s anxiety to please all.

It is a condition of restlessness and mental agitation with a distressful feeling of tightness and oppression in the region of the heart.

Anxiety is the rust of life. It destroys its brightness and weakens its power.

Anxiety is the poison of human life. Do not anticipate trouble or worry about what may never happen. Sufficient to each day are the duties to be done and the trials to be endured.

Full faith in Sri Sai puts an end to anxiety. A childlike and abiding trust in Sri Sai is its best preventive and remedy.

The cares of tomorrow weigh a man down. Do not torment yourself with imaginary dangers or trials or reverses. Be always happy and cheerful. Trust in Sri Sai and do the right. Leave the rest to Sri Sai.

Sri Sai looks after everybody. He feeds even the frog that lives between the strata of rocks. Be not, therefore, anxious, and say “What will become of my fate next year? What shall I eat tomorrow? What shall I do for my clothing and blanket? How can I arrange for the education of my son or the marriage of my daughter?” Sri Sai knows that you have need for all these things. He will do everything for you.

Do not make yourself wretched by imagining catastrophes unforeseen in the distant future. Do not anticipate misfortune.

Be always busy. Keep yourself ever occupied. Anxiety will take to its heels.

He who worships Sri Sai, who sings His glory, who recites His Name, is raised above anxiety for earthly wants.

You anticipate calamities, dangers and troubles. But they seldom come. Why do you unnecessarily worry yourself and waste your time, energy and strength?

Be of good cheer. Never bother about trouble till trouble actually troubles you.

Anxiety is choking disquiet. Anxiety is mental. It is in regard to the unknown, or what may happen. It refers to some future event, always suggesting hopeful possibility.

Worry is a more petty, restless and manifested anxiety. Anxiety may be quiet and silent. Worry is communicated to all around.

    Solicitude is a milder anxiety.

Perplexity often involves anxiety, but may be quite free from it. A student may be perplexed regarding a translation, yet, if he has time enough, he is not at all anxious regarding it.

Assurance, calmness, carelessness, confidence, ease, light-heartiness, satisfaction, tranquility are the opposites of anxiety.

    Allah Malik
A Person, who has controlled his mind, can achieve any success in his life. How far you are trying to control your mind?
The mind that judges not others ever remains tension-free.

  • Now
    Aum Sairam
Forget about your life situation for a while and pay attention to your life.

    What is the difference?
Your life situation exists in time.
    Your life is now.
    Your life situation is mind-stuff.
    Your life is real.

Find the "narrow gate that leads to life." It is called the Now.
Narrow your life down to this moment. Your life situation may be full of problems - most life situations are - but find out if you have any problem at this moment. Not tomorrow or in ten minutes, but now. Do you have a problem now? When you are full of problems, there is no room for anything new to enter, no room for a solution. So whenever you can, make some room, create some space, so that you find the life underneath your life situation.

    Allah Malik
A Person, who has controlled his mind, can achieve any success in his life. How far you are trying to control your mind?

  • Variety in Upadesh -- Slanderer Condemned  Sai Baba required no special place, nor any special time for giving instructions. Whenever any occasion demanded, He gave them freely. Once it so happened that a Bhakta of Baba, reviled another behind his back, before other people. On leaving aside merits, he dwelt on the faults of his brother, and spoke so sarcastically, that the hearers were disgusted. Generally, we see that people have a tendency to scandalize others, un-necessarily; and this brings on hatred and ill-will. Saints see scandal, in another light. They say that there are various ways of cleansing or removing dirt, viz. by means of earth, water and soap etc., but a scandal-monger has got a way of his own. He removes the dirt (faults) of others by his tongue; so in a way of obliges the person, whom he reviles and for this he is to be thanked. Sai Baba had his own method of correcting the scandal-monger. He knew by his omniscience what the slanderer had done and when He met him at noon near the Lendi, Baba pointed out to him a pig that was eating filth near the fence and said to him - "Behold how, with what relish it is gorging dung. Your conduct is similar. You go on reviling your own brethren to your heart's content. After performing many deeds of merit, you are born a man, and if you act like this, will Shirdi help you in any way?" Needless to say, that the Bhakta took the lesson to his heart, and went away.

Baba said that He was omnipresent, occupying land, air, country, world, light and heaven, and that He was not limited. To remove the misunderstanding of those, who thought that Baba was only His body - three cubits and a half in length, He incarnated Himself in this form and if any devotee meditated on Him day and night with complete self-surrender, he experienced complete union (without any difference) with Him like sweetness and sugar, waves and sea, eye and its luster. He, who wants to get rid of the cycle of births and deaths, should lead a righteous life, with his mind calm and composed. He should always engage himself in good actions, should do his duties and surrender himself, heart and soul to Him. He need not then be afraid of anything. He who trusts Him entirely, hears and expounds His Leelas and does not think of anything else, is sure to attain Self-realization.

A Person, who has controlled his mind, can achieve any success in his life. How far you are trying to control your mind?
The mind that judges not others ever remains tension-free.

  • Mind considered a formidable barrier

Mind in its present state is burdened with huge karmic load of past lives. It is enthralled by the outgoing faculties of senses and is thus driven helplessly into the mire of sense-gratification. The alphabet of spiritual progress commences with the control of mind. It is said that unless mind is controlled, senses are disciplined, and intellect is stilled, we cannot have experience of Self- realization. Human body is just like a chariot wherein soul is the rider, mind is the driver, intellect is the reins and senses are the powerful steeds running amuck in the mire of sensuous gratification. It is for this reason that having a retrace of the facts, the senses are to be disciplined, intellect stilled and mind controlled so that inner experience of soul can be had. Mind is accustomed to roam about externally through ages. Unless it is offered something more joyous within, it cannot be controlled. The four main attributes of mind as discussed above have to be divinised before any perceptible right understanding of the subject can be arrived at. Just as at present we are so greatly impressed by the facts of externality of life that we have little or no knowledge of the higher spiritual truths Full or Divine beatitude; which is gross ignorance, similarly unless we have firm conviction of the life of the Beyond, there is no hope of our mind taking the right turn. It is only in the presence of the Living Master, who has full command and control on His mind, that we find radiant reflections of inner stillness and equipoise of the mind. A Saint has exclaimed aptly:

"If you are firmly resolved to proceed to the Beloved Lord, you should put one foot on the mind and the other will enable you to reach the alley of the Friend."

Self is the friend of self and self is the foe of self. The mind, acting as a slave to the senses, running after the sense-objects, debases itself. As a reckless sower of the karmic seeds, it has, per force, to reap and garner an abundant harvest, in life after life, in an endless series. The poor soul in the light and life of which the mind works is hopelessly and helplessly relegated to the background and the mind assumes the supreme command of the citadel of the body. What a pity ! The princess of the royal blood is swayed by the wiles of a trickster who himself is being pleasurably duped by the siren-songs of the senses and, is unwittingly dancing to their tunes on the stage of mundane life. No wonder that it poses menace to the security and integrity of the soul, running a handicap race with formidable and at times insurmountable hurdles in the way. We have, therefore, to subdue this inveterate foe before we can smoothly tread the spiritual path. To subdue the mind by force is impracticable. It has to be won over steadily by persuasion and by giving it some foretaste of the real happiness which a Master-Saint alone can do.
A Person, who has controlled his mind, can achieve any success in his life. How far you are trying to control your mind?
The mind that judges not others ever remains tension-free.

  • Gurur   Brahma, Gurur  Vishnu, Gurur  Devoh Maheshwara
Guru Sakshat  Parabrahmah Tasmai  Shree  Guru  Veh  Namah !

You are yourself the creation of Truth, in fact one with Truth. Self confidence is the main thing. One who is self-confident also has confidence in Self.

Always remember Supreme is within. Know the Supreme Self. Through Him you can know yourself easily and properly as a being in Him. You cannot know yourself but through the Love which is He. You are not chemicals, you are the Temple of the Divine. Body or mental chemistry may break down, but chemistry of the Spirit is untouchable. There is only one substance, constantly changing form. He is both within and without, giving you life and loving you constantly. You are pregnant with Him. You are full of Him. Let this consciousness dawn upon you from within.

Who are you? You are a helpless being. Hold fast to Baba.

You have come with mind, senses, desires and attachments. You shall have to give something to them. If you stop giving, they will revolt. Follow your desires. Do not force them into a special pattern. Neither resist nor indulge. The ego keeps you apart from Mahanam (God's Name within). Your ego, that is, suppose whatever you do you say, "I am doing". Don't go pretending to be the doer. Shake off the sense of ego and be a servant of God, and you will feel His Presence. Everything is being done by Him through you.

It is only your individual sense, your ego, that shuts out the awareness of constant communion with God. You are born with Mahanam (God's Name) within. His Name is your own being. You are His Temple. But, with birth you forgot, forgot your true nature, your divine nature. As the veil of ego evolves in your mind, your awareness of God disappears.

A Person, who has controlled his mind, can achieve any success in his life. How far you are trying to control your mind?
The mind that judges not others ever remains tension-free.

  • Worry

We should not worry. We should have implicit faith in Baba, in our Inner Pilot or in our spiritual Master. We have to feel that not only does Baba know what is best for us, but He will do what is best for us. We worry because we do not know what is going to happen to us tomorrow, or even the next minute. We feel that if we do not do something for ourselves, then who is going to do it? But if we can feel that there is someone who thinks of us infinitely more than we think of ourselves, and if we can consciously offer our responsibility to Him, saying, "You be responsible. You be responsible for what I do and say and grow into," then our past, our present and our future become His problem. As long as we try to be responsible for our own life, we will be miserable. We will not be able to properly utilize even two minutes out of every twenty-four hours we have. When we can feel that we are Baba's conscious instruments and He is the Doer, then we will not worry about our destiny; we will not be afraid of our destiny, for we will know and feel that it is in the all-loving Hands of Sai Ma, who will do everything in us, through us and for us.

Let us consciously offer our very existence - what we have and what we are - to Baba. What we have is aspiration to grow into the very image of Shirdi Sai, into infinite peace, Light and bliss. And what we are right now is just ignorance, the ignorance-sea. If we can offer our aspiration-cry and our ignorance-sea to Baba, then our problem is solved. We should not and we need not ever worry about destiny. On the strength of our surrender, we become inseparably one with Baba's cosmic Will.

  • A short story on Divinity and ego

There lived a Sage, who was very pious & was doing penance for the interest of mankind. By caste, he was a Brahmin and was known to Lord Krishna. He was wandering in secluded areas and had no fixed house for him. He had no desire, no lust, no hatred, and no greed & was in different world of his own.

Lord Krishna was very happy with his PRAYERS & Lord Krishna showed him His Virat Swaroop & asked him for any boon. Sage Uttanga told Him that he was desire less and he did not want anything, but Lord Krishna insisted for some boon to be granted to him as a reward for his penance. As Lord Krishna insisted, the latter asked for a boon that whenever he was in need of water (and since this area is a desert area) & whenever he felt thirsty, water may be provided to him. Lord Krishna granted him the boon & disappeared.

One day, the Sage Uttanga after walking for a long distance in the desert area felt thirsty, but there was no trace of water. Then he remembered that the Lord Krishna had granted him a boon that he would find water. The moment this thought was within his system, he saw a hunter dressed in torn rags accompanied by furious dog, carrying water in a leather pouch and asked him, “Sir, would you like to have some water.” Looking at the apparent condition of the hunter, being a staunch Brahmin, the sage felt repelled. He politely refused “No, Thank you”. The hunter again approached him for the water, but in utter disgust & in anger the sage told the hunter to go way and that he was not interested in the water. The hunter and the dogs disappeared. Witnessing this, he realized that it must be God, who disguised Himself and came to quench his thirst. He felt hurt how Lord Krishna could send water to me through a Scheduled Caste. How could He expect a Brahmin to accept and drink water from the leather pouch?

Meantime, Lord Krishna appeared, smiled and asked him ‘Who was the Chandala? He had asked the Indra Devta to fetch the water, who instead of water, had actually brought nectar to make you immortal, but on one condition to test whether you could see the Divinity in all. ‘Hence I allowed him to do so’.

Sage Uttanga understood how he had failed in the test. It was his Ego, which made him refuse the nectar, which came in the form of water and through Indra Devta.

When sages like Uttanga could fail when tested, what are we? Are we capable and fully equipped to understand the Leela or Maya of God? We, therefore, have to be constantly on guard and develop sharp sense to understand the real meaning of life. He always puts us to test. He always does good for us. There cannot be any negative in His actions, whatever He does, is always good for us.

There is a similar incident given in sacred book Shri Sai SatCharitra Chapter 23, Sai Baba testing his devotees if His devotees were devoted enough to go against the conditioned mind, or ego and trust the Sadguru, or did the conditioned mind go against the order of Sadguru. Kakasaheb Dixit a devotee who left all the material wealth and built a Wada ( a building for free accommodation for all the visitors of Shirdi) passed this test and proved that material wealth was not the only thing that he renounced but the conditioned mind too. Sadguru Sai Baba was everything for him and not even the teachings of his life would prevent him to obey his Sadguru. Rare are such devotees. Another similar incident mentioned in Shri Sai SatCharitra chapter 38 about sending the Brahmin Dada Kelkar to shop for mutton also is on the same theme.
A Person, who has controlled his mind, can achieve any success in his life. How far you are trying to control your mind?
The mind that judges not others ever remains tension-free.
