Title: Spiritual Blossoms

GETTING RID OF MAYA
Maya has the capacity to ruin our life. If we understand the nature of Maya well, it will go away from us in one
moment. If we give a high place to it without understanding, then it will get the upper hand and will begin to dance
on our heads.
In one village, a marriage was to take place. The party of the bridegroom came to the village and was staying in
a house. The party of the bride was staying in another house. In between these two parties, there was one individual
who wanted all kinds of comforts and was demanding them from both the parties. This individual used to go to the
bridegroom's place and tell them that they were always coming late and causing a lot of problems to the bride's party.
People belonging to the bridegroom's party thought that he was some respected elder from the side of the bride.
Similarly he went to the bride's house and told them that they were not respecting the bridegroom and members of
his party and were not giving them all the respect that was due to them.
This individual was enacting a drama. He was going to the bridegroom's party and was behaving as if he was a
respected elder from the bride's side; and he was going to the bride's people and behaving as if he was a respected
elder from the bridegroom's side. When this drama went too far, the two parties started investigating and found that
he belonged to neither side.
Once you make an inquiry and find out the origin of Maya, it will disappear; even as the individual in our story
disappeared.

THE JOURNEY OF THE SOUL TOWARDS GOD

Life is a pilgrimage to the realm of the Divine. The individual soul, in its march, enters into the stage called purification (or
purgation) when it is attacked by paroxysms of worldly desires. The
duty of sages and saints is to liberate the soul from such inhibitions and from the tentacles which entwine it. After suffering for a long period, the soul reaches the region of enlightenment and tries to be close to God. After this stage is past, it finally unites with Godhead.

The saint prays to the Lord that he should be made an instrument in
executing the Divine will and that he should always be in the holy
company of His devotees. According to him, God is "Truth
personified" and he who surrenders to this "Truth" will be
entitled to Eternity.

Sincere feeling of love, lifting one's hands before God is utter
devotion with tears symbolizing the washing away of the accumulated
sins of the past and submission without any reservation will enable one to realize God easily. A devotee should feel the presence of God
always, everywhere and in everything. Then evil ideas will totally
disappear.

I FIRMLY BELIEVE...
I firmly believe there is none kinder than You,
to shower Grace on me.
Tell me, is this not the reason why
I am at Your Lotus Feet?

I firmly believe You will respond quick
when I do pray and plead.
Tell me, is this the reason why
I am crying aloud for You?

I firmly believe You are ever beside me
to guide my steps aright.
Tell me, is this not the reason why
I am Yours thro' day and night.

I firmly believe You can never say 'No'
Whatever I ask from You.
Tell me, is this the reason why
I long for a glance from You?

What have You designed for me this time?
Why this dire delay to offer boons?

However long You make me wait and wail
I will not leave, I'll be standing still
Until Your loving eyes do turn on me.

It should be realised that there is room in the heart for only a single person. It is not to be regarded as a double sofa or a musical chair. God alone should be installed in the heart. It is because people change their loyalties from moment to moment that their devotion is diluted and their aspirations remain unfulfilled. With a pure heart and one-pointed devotion, anything can be achieved. - BABA

Though all incarnations are Divine, Krishna avatara was special in this sense that He spent all his time smiling and smiling, full of love...This is the main quality of God. God has no trace of ego or pride or jealousy whatsoever. Love has no reason. Love is the basis for love. Only through this love, we can attain God. Any other spiritual pursuits give us the temporary joy and not the permanent bliss. Only through the principle of love and its practice, we can recognize and realize the embodiment of love. Where is this love? This love is within us, but we divert this love in different ways. We have a variety of sweets, but the same sugar is present in all of them. Similarly, the Divine love is inherent and immanent in everybody. There is no human heart in which there is no love. So, we should visualize the love which is in everybody. To teach this path of love, Krishna incarnated.

Lead your lives with compassion, kindness and love. Suffuse your life with love. Love is nectarine. It has unmatched sweetness. Therefore use always polite words. Even if you come across an enemy, offer your salutations to him. Do not turn your back upon even your enemy. Be friendly with everybody.... God has given you a soft tongue. You should not speak harsh words with your tongue. The soft tongue should always speak soft and sweet words.

JAI SAI RAM!!!

Once you've given your burdens to Me, quit trying to take them back. Trust in Me. Have the faith that I will take care of all your needs, your problems and your trials. Problems with the kids? Put them on My list. Problem with finances? Put it on My list. Problems with your emotional roller coaster? For My sake, put it on My list. I want to help you. All you have to do is ask.

Do not judge others as good or bad. Do not search for the evil in others, for the evil will enter you. God tolerates the good and the bad. His grace falls equally on both. Place a surgical instrument that was used to save life and an axe that was used to cut down living trees, side by side – a magnet will attract both equally. Be equal minded and tolerant. Love all with equal fortitude.

Life and Death: Do Good Naturally, Not Out of Duty
By Swami Chinmayanada

As a teenager I always carried some cotton, antiseptic and a bandage in my pocket. After all, someone could get hurt. One day, I was in a bus. A fellow passenger got hurt. Here was my chance to become a hero, I thought excitedly. Out came my kit. I applied some antiseptic on her bruise and bandaged it.

Another passenger looked at me and said: "Do you know, you have caused this bruise - indirectly." I was taken aback. He continued: "You waited for someone to fall and get hurt so that you could use your medical kit." My take on nishkaama karma, selfless action, had failed.

Krishna says that the path of selfless service can lead you to the ultimate Truth. But even the slightest motive spoils the selfless act. Ma Sarada, the Holy Mother, was a personification of nishkaama karma. Her spiritualism was in her motherliness. She was constantly engaged in motives-free service. And we all have this Universal Mother hidden within.

Take parenting. Today, it's a duty. Parents earn money; they buy gifts and other things for children. But that's not what parenting is all about. Remember, a child can live without materialistic things but not without love.

When love is absent in a parent-child relationship, children tend to become aggressive. They demand things; they want their desires to be fulfilled. A parent who fulfils all the desires of his child is called a good parent, one who is dutiful. No one is giving love, no one is getting love. It is a loveless state.

Indian philosophers have said a lot about duty. Many of them were not fathers or mothers in the biological sense but they had inner compassion, which got reflected in their behaviour. All who came in contact with them could feel their tenderness, their love and compassion.

This is why Ma Sarada, Ramakrishna's spouse, was mother to thousands without being a biological mother. The motherliness is there in all of us. It gets manifested when you begin loving people as your very own. Love God, love the God in all, and love your children and other near ones as if they were images of God. As a karmayogi, you will not expect anything in return - you will find that you are enveloped by love and this will enable you to do your duty well.

However, Swami Vivekananda said that those who want to be karmayogis must get rid of the idea of "duty". Whatever you have to give to the world, give by all means, but not as a duty. Duty becomes compulsion. Everything that you do under compulsion goes to build up attachment. The only true duty is to be unattached and to work as free beings, to give up all work unto God. All our duties are His.

Bring up a child not out of a sense of duty, for doing so would amount to compulsion. Do so out of pure, unselfish love. Parents are out the whole day, working for their livelihood - all for the sake of the family, because it is their duty to do so. But where does one draw the line between need and greed?

During my visits to several homes, I have seen parents and children together, exchanging hardly a word. At the most they say: "Pass the plate, pass the vegetable, yes, okay, bye..."

With this kind of indifference and self-absorption, how can parents and children love and respect one another? That's why it is important to bring up the compassion latent in our hearts - not just for family, but for all. Let love blossom.

One can see one's own reflection in the mirror only when a particular chemical is coated on the other side. Likewise, coat the chemical of love on your heart in order to have the vision of God. Fill your heart with love. Then there will be no place for evil qualities like jealousy, anger and hatred. Just as wax melts when it comes in contact with heat, the heart melts when the rays of love fall on it. - BABA

Spiritual Garden

First plant 5 rows of Peas:
Preparedness, Promptness, Perseverance, Politeness, Prayer

Next to them plant three rows of Squash:
Squash gossip, Squash criticism, Squash indifference

Then put in 5 rows of Lettuce:
Let us be faithful Let us be unselfish, Let us be loyal, Let us love one another, Let us be truthful.

Next to them  plant Turnips.
Turn up for prayer, Turn up with a smile, Turn up with a new idea, Turn up with real determination.

One day I decided to quit... quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality... I wanted to quit my life.
I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.
God, I said. Can you give me one good reason not to quit?
His answer surprised me...
Look around, He said. Do you see the fern and the bamboo?
Yes, I replied.
When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water.
The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the
floor. Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed.
But I did not quit on the bamboo. In the second year the Fern grew
more vibrant and plentiful.
And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on
the bamboo He said.
In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I
would not quit.
In year four, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed.  I would
not quit. He said.
Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth.  Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and       insignificant...But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over
100 feet tall.
It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong
and gave it what it needed to survive.
I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle.
He said to me. Did you know, my child, that all this time you have
been struggling, you have actually been growing roots  I would not
quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you.
Dont compare yourself to others He said. The bamboo had a different
purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest beautiful.
Your time will come, God said to me. You will rise high
How high should I rise?, I asked.
How high will the bamboo rise?, He asked in return.
As high as it can, I answered
Yes. He said, Give me glory by rising as high as you can.
I left the forest and bring back this story.
I hope these words can help you see that God will never give up on you. Never Give up - just keep the faith!!!!!

Keep the faith in the Lord undiminished; you can then safely move about in the world. No harm can come to you! Be like the village women with pots over their heads, one over the other, keeping balance even while talking and walking along the winding lane. They do not forget or ignore the burden or the goal. They are vigilant, conscious of the hardships on the way, the stones and the pits; it is the inner concentration that pays dividends.

Life is a game of football. You are the ball and you are bound to be thrown and kicked around this side and that. How long have you to bear this treatment? Until the ball is filled with air. Deflate it, and no one will kick it again. The air that inflates it is the ego. Bliss sets in when we get rid of the ego.

The Divine Drama
An Interactive Play where the Role is written just for You

By Kavitha Ramachandran

I have a role in a tough play. The
Playwright is very well known, although
there are some people who don’t really
read His work. The dialogue is wonderful,
but people are always trying to
change it. It’s difficult, but I just have
to keep trying new things until I can
really get into character. The Playwright
is also the Director. He really lets us
discover our own characters and there
is a great amount of improvisation. But
believe me, He’s always there to bring
us back when we get off track.
He doesn’t discriminate in His casting:
everyone has a part. Sometimes I
wonder if I am right for the role I have
been given, but He assures me, “No,
you are perfect for this role...it was made
for you. Everyone is just perfect for the
role I have given them.” He knows what
is right because He has planned and
prepared the script over and over again,
knowing exactly who goes where and
who should do what.

This play is timeless. Whoever you
are and wherever you may be, you can’t
help but feel connected to it. The Director
is excellent and you just want to
please Him. And if you are not ready,
He’ll hold the part for you. As He sees
it, whatever you do until you accept the
big role is preparation. He always tells
us to be natural, and not to worry about
the end result. He says, “The play will
be great. The play is already great. The
fun is in the process.” He tells us often,
“Just play your roles, play your parts and
I’ll put it together. The final result will
be something beyond what you can
imagine.”

Sometimes I get caught up in the
role and I forget that I’m just playing a
part, but He’s always there to redirect
me. It’s quite intricate, for this Playwright/
Director is amazing and He’ll
write about seemingly unhappy situations
and will then lead us to interpret
the dialogue in a happy context. Sometimes
the scenes seem scary and no one
but He can convince you that they
aren’t. He says, “Alright, go through this
scene. Remember it’s not real and that
I am here.” And you trust Him. You
then jump in with both feet and though
nervous, you do it because somewhere
beneath all that fear you know He’s
there, and what seemed so scary, really
isn’t. The Director is such an inspiration
that His words tend to linger in your
heart after they have been spoken. And
so even when the play seems to not be
a happy one, the experience of working
with Him makes up for it and you just
keep pushing through.

There are days when you say,
“Enough. I’m ready to perform.” And
He laughs and gently says, “Not yet.”
We go into this play with big egos thinking
we are special to be chosen by Him
and that our roles are so important. But
then He shows us other people’s roles
and we can’t help but realize that every
part is important. His directions seem
so simple sometimes that we try to spice
things up ourselves, only to feel dissatisfied
with the effort. Then He lovingly
repeats the directions and lets us try
again. He never judges us. He never tells
us that the play won’t work if we don’t
do it a certain way. He simply points us
in the right direction. He is so sure that
the play will be a hit that you can’t help
but believe Him.

Sometimes we question Him and
say, “This is a really long play.” And He
replies that the play is His life and so for
Him, there’s no time like the present. He
tells us to keep playing our parts. He
does admit that all of the roles only last
for so long, but that there are always new
actors.

Where the six qualities of zeal, determination, courage, intelligence, ability and heroism are present, there divinity becomes manifest. Success and prosperity comes to the one with these six virtues. However, these qualities are put to test from time to time. Just as a student has to face various tests, these qualities are also subject to trials. Such trials should be regarded as stepping stones to higher achievements. These trials are in the form of losses, troubles, pains, sufferings and calumny. One has to overcome these troubles with courage and self-confidence and forge ahead. Without self-confidence, these six qualities cannot be acquired.  - BABA

Life is a pilgrimage, where man drags his feet along the rough and thorny road. With the Name of God on his lips, he will have no thirst; with the Form of God in his heart, he will feel no exhaustion. The company of the holy will inspire him to travel in hope and faith. The assurance that God is within call, that He is ever near, will lend strength to his limbs and courage to his eye.

If God is omnipresent and all-pervasive, why is He not visible to us?" When the sun is shining, clouds which have been caused by the sun's heat hide the rays of the sun. When the sun is not visible because of the clouds, can you say that there is no sun? Likewise, the clouds of doubts and delusion, which arise in man owing to his conceit and ignorance, hide the Divine from him. When a strong wind blows, the clouds are dispelled and the sun is visible. Similarly, when the winds of love and faith blow, the clouds of doubt and egoism are scattered and God reveals Himself.

There is no greater friend for anyone than God. He is beyond the reach of praise or censure. He does not give up man on the ground of the latter's failure to come up to His expectations. That is why God has been given the appellation, Suhrid (a good friend). God desires no offerings from any devotee. God is the only one friend who confers benefits on devotees without expecting any return. Nevertheless man does not readily accept such a friend. Only the man who accepts God as such a friend and is guided by His advice can understand the full meaning of Divine friendship. Faith of this nature alone constitutes true Jnana (wisdom).

Every man is inclined to ignore his own defects and see the faults of others. The root cause of this tendency is selfishness and self-centredness. All his attachments are based on self-love. And this applies also to man's love for God. Men pretend to love God, but one who truly loves God will forget himself. Loving anyone for your own sake is anuraga (affection). But loving God for His own sake is Prema (true love).
Love is Selflessness !!

Eager expectations is the activity of the spirit; it doesn't come from some outer excitement.

Enjoy friends and don't criticize - however much the need seems to arise.

Spend time with friends and family but save some time to be alone. Peace and hope come to those who wait for them - and joy overtakes the grateful one. Even to withdraw for ten minutes breaks into the emotions to smooth away sharpness.

Be a good friend to yourself and the sweetness of it will draw others like nectar lures the honeybee.

Open your spiritual eyes and see that you are never alone.

All relationships are incidental and temporary. Hence, each one should perform his duties. As long as one is involved in worldly life, the relationships of mother and son, husband and wife, brother and sister, and the like, have to be recognised as natural phenomena. All these relationships have no permanence. Separation is inevitable sooner or later. But between you and God, there can be no separation at any time. Even if you forget God, God will not forget you. Therefore, you have to develop faith in God and cultivate love.
Think God. Love God. Realise that there is no truer friend than God. Merge your love in His love.

God has a million Names. Select any Name of His, any Name that appeals to you, select any Form of His; every day when you awaken to the call of the brightening east, recite the Name, meditate on the Form; have the Name and Form as your companion, guide and guardian throughout the toils of the waking hours; when you retire for the night offer grateful homage to God in that Form with that Name, for being with you, by you, beside you, before you, behind you, all day long. If you stick to this discipline, you cannot falter or fail.

Do not worry about the ups and downs of life, loss or pain, joy or grief. You are yourself the maker of the ups and downs. If you so wish, everything can be on one smooth level. You label one thing as bad and something else as gain. You crave for a thing and, when you get it, you call it joy; if you don’t get it, you call it grief. Cut out the craving, and there will be no more swinging from joy to grief.

Spirituality starts with faith.  Man aspires for Bliss.  But how can he attain Bliss?

Where there is faith there is love

Where there is love there is peace

Where there is peace there is truth

Where there is truth there is God

Where there is God there is Bliss

The path of spirituality starts with faith and ends with Bliss.

There can be no sacredness in service, if good thoughts and good feelings are absent.

What should be the qualities of the actions we offer at the Lotus Feet of the Lord?... For example, if we want to offer a rose to the Lord, we first select a beautiful, fragrant bloom. Then we remove the insects from the flower. Next we remove the thorns or any imperfect leaves from the stem and in a number of other ways we make our offering as beautiful and pure as possible. Every action we perform should be like this. Our actions must be saturated with the fragrance of love and sacredness and must be good and pure. This is the true: Yoga of Action as laid down in the Gita.

God is like a postman. The postman delivers
one letter to one address and the people in the
house rejoice over the good news contained in
it. He delivers another letter at a second house
and there is a lamentation over the sad news
contained in the letter. Is the postman responsible
for the joy or the sadness of the recipients of
the letters? No. It is the contents of the respective
letters that is responsible. What you experience
by way of joy and grief is a consequence
of your own actions. God is only a witness.
It is one’s own actions that
lead to good or bad results. Man’s mind is the
cause of his bondage or liberation. Hence mind
has to be turned towards the sacred path. It
should be concentrated on actions of service to
others. It should be devoted for the welfare of
the others. Only then the purity of the mind expresses
itself. To take offence when somebody
criticizes you or to think of retaliation when one
does harm to you, is not the right way of reaching
to him or her. Consider whatever good or
bad happens to you as the consequence of your
own actions. Do not attribute them to acts of the
Divine.

It is only during rainy season that the clouds come in the way of sun rays. Similarly, it is only when our mind is wavering and disturbed we suffer from sorrows and difficulties. When our mind is steady and firm, no ‘clouds’ can disturb us. Hence, keep your mind pure and steady. Develop courage and fortitude.

Whatever other things they may possess, men suffer from lack of peace and bliss. These two can be got only from God. It is for these two that men should pray to God and not for anything else, because God alone can grant these two. When these are secured, all other things will come of their own accord by the grace of God. People should yearn for God. All other desires are worthless. The infinite Divine can be realized only through love, which is all-powerful. The devotee's love for the Lord is like the love of a child for its mother. If he is filled with love for God, that love will attract God towards him. This bond of love is inextricable.

Life on earth is, as on the ocean, ever restless, with the waves of joy and grief, of loss and gain, the swirling currents of desire, the whirlpools of passion, and the simooms of greed and hate. To cross the ocean, the only reliable raft is a heart filled with the Love of God and Man. Man is born for a high destiny as the inheritor of a rich heritage. He should not fritter his days in low pursuits and vulgar vanities. His destiny is to know the Truth, live in it and for it. The Truth along can make man free, happy and bold. If he is not prompted by this high purpose, life is a waste, a mere tossing on the waves, for the sea of life is never calm.

When a man's inner self is filled with love, his life becomes full of bliss and he is always hale and hearty.

God serves; He allows you to claim that you have served! Without His Will, not a single blade of grass can quiver in the breeze. Fill every moment with gratitude to the Giver and the Recipient of all gifts. There can be no sacredness in service, if good thoughts and good feelings are absent. There can be no sacredness in service, if good thoughts and good feelings are absent There can be no sacredness in service, if good thoughts and good feelings are absent.

Everyone has to face the consequences of his actions. Who has made the bats to hang from the branches of a tree with their heads downwards? Has anyone done it out of hatred? No. It is their Karma (fate). Likewise, nobody can escape from the consequences of Karma.

You may wonder if there is a way to escape from the consequences of Karma. Yes, it is possible for those who earn the grace of God. Once you become the recipient of God's grace, you will not be affected by Karma Phala. Hence, you should strive to earn Divine grace. Scholars say, it is impossible to escape Karma. What they say is true to a certain extent. But once you earn Divine grace, even if you have to experience the consequences of Karma, you will not feel the pain. Take for instance a bottle containing medicine. You find the expiry date mentioned on the bottle. After the expiry date, the medicine will lose its potency. Likewise, God's grace will make the Karma Phala 'expire', i.e., it nullifies the effects of Karma. Hence, it is possible to escape from the consequences of Karma. Man should cultivate the necessary strength and will power to deserve Divine grace. You will be free from the shackles of Karma once you attain Divine grace.

You may undertake any number of spiritual practices, but never forget God's Name even for a moment. Only then will you be protected. Never do anything that will take you away from God. You can achieve anything through prayer. You do not need to pray loudly, it is enough if you pray mentally. Some people have a mistaken notion that God will not come to their rescue if they do not pray loudly. God resides in your heart. He listens to your prayers. If you aspire to attain His grace, you have to contemplate on Him incessantly. Worldly difficulties come and go. One should not attach much importance to them. However, through prayer, one can overcome any difficulties. Only God's grace is true and everlasting. One should strive to attain it.

JAI SAI RAM!!!

"I am somebody. I am me. I like being me. And I need nobody to make me somebody."

Often we spend so much time taking care of all the special people in our lives, we forget that we are somebody special, too. I am special and you are special and each and every one of us is just as significant and necessary to this world as the next. It is not until we begin to realize this very important truth, however,  that we allow ourselves to recognize how very special we are. Beginning today, make a conscious effort daily to honor and celebrate the very
special somebody that is you.

So always keep smiling....BABA SAI will be more happy with this small gesture of yours.

The Grace of God cannot be won through the gymnastics of reason, the contortions of yoga or the denials of asceticism. Love alone can win it, Love that needs no requital, Love that knows no bargaining, Love that is paid gladly, as tribute to the All-loving, Love that is unwavering. Love alone can overcome obstacles, however many and mighty. There is no strength more effective than purity, no bliss more satisfying than love, no joy more restoring than bhakthi (devotion), no triumph more praiseworthy than surrender.

People have specialised in the various methods of worshipping God; there are host of rites, ceremonials, hymns, festivals, fasts, vows, pilgrimages; but, the best form of worship, the one that will bring the Grace of God in ample measure, is to obey the commands of God. Adulation is poor adoration! Placing God at a great distance from you and praising Him as Omniscient, Omnipotent and Omnipresent will not please Him. Develop nearness, proximity, kinship with God. Win Him by obedience, loyalty, humility and purity.

Do not lead a pompous life. Adambara (pomposity) is the root cause of Ashanti (restlessness). Give up Adambara and strive to attain Ananda (bliss). True bliss cannot be acquired from outside; it lies in your heart. In fact, bliss pervades the entire world. Your mental perversions are responsible for seeing evil in it. Hence, purify your mind. Only then can you become a true human being. Perform meritorious deeds. Speak good words. Lead a sacred life. In this manner, you can find fulfillment in life.

Does belief come spontaneously or by effort?

Belief comes spontaneously. Belief comes by effort. In the spiritual life, a sincere, advanced and surrendered seeker can and will have spontaneous belief. Belief by personal effort, without the divine grace and God's unconditional protection, cannot be as effective as spontaneous belief.

We see a tree. The tree bears flowers, and soon afterwards we see fruits. The flower is the harbinger of the fruit. In the spiritual life, belief is the flower. Belief is a divine angel which enters into us as the harbinger of the Lord Supreme.

If we do not have belief, we can develop belief. How? We can do it by mixing with sincere spiritual people who care more for God than for pleasure. There are also people who care only for God in human beings, and if we mix with those people we can cultivate belief. When we have belief, we can walk with God in His Garden of Light and Delight.

Belief by personal effort is a human earthly discovery,

Just a small candle of trust is enough to destroy the darkness of ages. The darkness cannot say, 'I have lived in this place for so long, I cannot leave so easily and I cannot leave only because of this small candle.' Even a small candle is more potential than the darkness of ages, of centuries, of thousands of lives. But it will have to go... once the light is there it has to go.

Good conduct alone is our real wealth. Good qualities alone constitute our real treasure. An unsullied character, expressing itself in a pure and perfect life, constitutes the most precious riches one can possess. But men today have given up these three and are seeking worldly goods and, immersed in their own concerns, are imagining that they are leading pious lives. The Divine cannot be attained through such delusions. All the teachings one listens to, the books one studies and the education one receives, are only serving to nourish these delusions and not helping men to seek the Divine. To realise the Divine, one has to get rid of these delusions.

The Three Dolls

A sage presented a prince with a set of three small dolls. The prince was not amused.

"Am I a girl that you give me dolls?" he asked.

"This is a gift for a future king," said the man. "If you look carefully, you'll see a hole in the ear of each doll."

"So?"

The sage handed him a piece of string. "Pass it through each doll," he said. Intrigued, the prince picked up the first doll and put the string into the ear. It came out from the other ear.

"This is one type of person," said the man. "Whatever you tell him, comes out from the other ear. He doesn't retain anything."

The prince put the string into the second doll. It came out from the mouth.

"This is the second type of person," said the man. "Whatever you tell him, he tells everybody else."

The prince picked up the third doll and repeated the process. The string did not reappear from anywhere else.

"This is the third type of person," said the man. "Whatever you tell him is locked up within him. It never comes out."

"What is the best type of person?" asked the prince. The man handed him a fourth doll, in answer.

When the prince put the string into the doll, it came out from the other ear.

"Do it again," said the sage. The prince repeated the process. This time the string came out from the mouth. When he put the string in a third time, it did not come out at all.

"This is the best type of person," said the sage. "To be trustworthy, a man must know when not to listen, when to remain silent and when to speak out."

On the journey of earthly life, people take some wealth for expenses and when they finish the journey and reach the goal, they hand over the balance to some trustworthy friend and sleep soundly. Everyone brings the wealth of love from the moment of his birth. In this Karmakshetra (field of activity) that is the world, it is difficult to safeguard the treasure of Prema (love). Therefore, everyone should look for a faithful friend. Today, the only true friend is God. When you hand over the wealth of love to God, it will be easy for you to lead a life of security and peace.

Om SaiRam.

Eko devah sarvabhuteshu gudhah (God, Who is one only, is hidden in all beings).

It is hidden because of Its subtlety.

It is hidden because It is by nature a principle, an essence, beyond and devoid of name and

form, whereas the human mind and intellect are conditioned only to think on the basis of names

and forms. The only things the eyes can see are size, shape and colour. But behind and beyond

the names and forms there is the nameless and formless Being, a Being Who exists, a Being Who is

of the nature of luminous consciousness, a Being Who is endowed with the quality of pure bliss—

sat-chit-ananda Brahman.

In the Katha Upanishad there is a beautiful declaration: uttishthata jagrata—wake up! No one else can do this for you. You can be the disciple of God Almighty Himself, but even He will not be able to wake up on your behalf. If you feel hungry, you yourself must eat. The guru is not going to do the eating for you. The guru may indicate to you, but it is your problem. And if you feel it is your problem, then you awaken, and then you are awake to the problem.

Unless you stop blaming others, including yourself, for the state you are in, you are not awake. When you are walking through a tunnel, you see the light in front of you and the light behind you. Even so, when you are in darkness you think you see some light in the past or in the future. It is an absurd pastime.

Therefore, a major qualification for the student of yoga is to realise that no one is responsible for the state you are in. No one can bring about a spiritual awakening in you. Someone can help, anyone can help, but you have to do it. This spiritual awakening is brought about by life itself, but even to be awakened by life, a certain grace and a certain inner alertness is necessary.

Waking up is easy, but to remain awake is not so easy. Those of you who have attempted to wake up early in the morning in order to meditate will appreciate this. You set an alarm clock, it rings and you wake up. But to remain awake after that is not so easy. The mind loves to sleep. Why? Because the mind is born of ignorance and therefore it loves sleep and it loves a thick psychological blanket.

Therefore, wake up! That is your problem, your responsibility, not the teacher’s. From there on, ever be vigilant. Whenever I use this word ‘vigilant’, I am reminded of Buddha’s famous teaching. In some texts it is said that during one of the Buddha’s last sermons, he told his disciples: "Live in this world as you would if you were living in a room with a live cobra at the door." Can you imagine that? If you were in a small single room which had only one door and no windows, nothing to escape by, and you found a cobra sitting by that door in the middle of the night, what would you do? Would you sleep? Would you even nod? How vigilant you would be! Such must be the vigilance of the seeker.

It is possible for us to develop this vigilance if we understand that we are trapped and that whatever we do to get out of this trap leads us into a greater trap. Because the mind arises in ignorance and plays in ignorance, it can only create restlessness and disturb our peace. It may at times generate a feeling of happiness—which is a mere state of confusion. (If you have ever had true happiness for fifteen seconds, why did you give it up? Because it was not happiness at all!) If everything that we did ended in failure, we would stop doing anything. So the mind leads us from one unhappiness to another, and makes us feel sometimes that we are enjoying ourselves. That is the game the mind plays. When this understanding arises, what happens is vigilance.

If you are awake and alert, can you not discover the truth concerning life? With what does one discover the truth? Thought and mind cannot discover the truth because they are born of ignorance. What else do we have? There the questioner comes to an end. We can sit and think, but we have already understood that thinking leads us nowhere. We are awake, we are vigilant, but we do not know what else to do. Where do we go from there? Go to some enlightened person and be enlightened. Awakening is our job, our privilege. Enlightenment is possible with the help of the master. (Otherwise the danger is that we might regard ourselves as enlightened because our mind suggests we are enlightened—another trap.) So the commandment of the Upanishads is: uttishthata, jagrata—"awake, remain alert. Go to the enlightened ones and attain enlightenment.

One day a man received a brand new car from his older brother. He had just gotten off from work and was about to take a ride in his new car when a young boy stopped him.

"Is that your car?" he asked somewhat shyly "Yes it is. I just received it as a gift from my older brother."

"You received it as a gift from your brother - you mean you didn't have to pay a thing?"

"Yes that's right" replied the man.

"I wish. I wish I could." suddenly the boy stopped.  The man knew what the boy was about say.

"Yes?" he enquired

"I wish I could be a brother like that.and be able to give my younger brother a car."

The man was astounded because this was not the answer he had expected from the young boy, "Would you like to take a ride in the car with me?" asked the man "Sure" replied the boy.

As they were driving along the boy asked if they could stop at his house. The man agreed thinking that of course the boy would want to show off to all his friends and neighbors that he was riding around in a new car.

"Can you wait for just a min?" the boy asked when they reached his house.

"Of course" said the man After a long while the boy reappeared outside holding his younger crippled brother in his arms.

"See," he said. "I told you. That is the car which the man received from his brother and didn't pay a single penny for. Someday I want to buy a car like that for you so that you can go and see the world."

The man was so touched by the experience. The young boy and his brother both got into the car and went for a wonderful ride.

This story reminds me of a sentence in which our great saints instructed us to want for our brothers what we would want for ourselves. The young boy's only thought was that he could help his younger brother by getting him a car someday. He did not think of himself first.

Jai Sai Ram.

"If God is omnipresent and all-pervasive, why is He not visible to us?" Many in their ignorance ask this question. When the sun is shining, clouds which have been caused by the sun's heat hide the rays of the sun.

Meera says: "main to prem divani -- I am madly in love, so madly loved that I am mad, mad, mad!" Perhaps this may give you a little hint what kind of songs she sang. Playing her veena she danced in the marketplace, from village to village, town to town, city to city, singing her heart out, pouring herself totally.

Treat every one as your own people and even if you cannot do them any good, desist from causing them any injury. Burn the lamp of love inside the niche of your heart and then the nocturnal birds of greed and envy will fly away, unable to bear the light. Love makes you humble; it makes you bend and bow when you see greatness and glory. An unbending person is infected with egoism of the worst type; remember man is the only animal that can recognise and revere the great and the glorious. Nanak used to sing while Mardana played on his sitar, and that's how they roamed around the world spreading the fragrance of the ultimate. His songs are so beautiful, they bring tears to my eyes. Just because of his songs a new language was created. Because he wouldn't listen to any grammar, any rules of language, regulations, he created Punjabi just by his songs. It is a tremendously strong language, just like the sharp edge of a sword.

For the bird in mid-ocean flying over the dark deep blue waters, the only resting place is the mast of a ship that is sailing across. In the same way, the Lord is the only refuge for a man who is swept by storms over a restless sea. However far the bird may fly, it knows where it can rest; that knowledge gives it confidence. It has the picture of that mast steady in its mind; its form is fixed in the eye. The Name of the Lord is the mast for you; remember it ever. Associate it with the Form and have that Form fixed in your mind’s eye. It is a lamp shedding light in the recesses of your heart. Have the Name on your tongue and it will drive away the inner, as well as the outer, darkness.

Karma, Bhakthi, Gnana and Yoga are said to be the different roads leading to the same destination. Sai Baba has stressed once and several times, the importance of Devotion and surrender of the Self. For the material man, this may sound like a forfeiture of the self, a passive giving in to some unknown entity. Does this surrender demean the human spirit? Does this by any means make a man less divine? Not at all! The ability to even raise this question is a function of human enterprise, the ability to analyze, discriminate and identify with a particular attribute. If we let the self, give itself away, we are divine! Dispel the darkness and what we have is light!

JAI SAI RAM!!!

One of the greatest injustice anyone can do to his destiny is to have a fatalistic approach to destiny and to accept the forces of limitation. Great men realize that to become achievers, one has to become a master at the act of turning scars into stars. Henry David Thoreau said; “What a man thinks of himself; that is what determines, or rather indicates, his fate.”

Never accept limitation. That is a recipe for achievers that never fail to hit the mark.

Jai Sai Ram.

I knelt to pray but not for long,
I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work
For bills would soon be due.

So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My duty toward god was now done
My soul could rest at ease.

All day long I had no time
To spread a word of cheer.
No time to speak of God to friends,
They'd laugh at me I'd fear.

No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constant cry,
No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time the time to die.

I went before the Lord,
I came, I stood with downcast eyes.
For in his hands God held a book;
It was the book of life.

God looked into his book and said
"Your name I cannot find.
I once was going to write it down...
But never found the time"

JAI SAI RAM.

Why are you unnecessarily worrying?
Whom do you fear?
Who can kill you?
Soul is not born, nor does it die.

What has happened has happened for the best. What is happening is happening for the best. What will happen will happen for the best.

Do not brood over the past. Do not, worry about the future. The present is on.

What have you lost, that you are weeping? What have you brought, that you have lost? What have you made, that has been destroyed? You brought not anything. What you have, you got from here. What was given, was given here. What you took, you took from this universe. What you gave, you gave unto this universe. You have come empty handed and shall go empty handed. What is yours today was somebody else’s in the past and will be somebody else’s in future. You think it is yours and are deeply engrossed in it.
This attachment is the cause of all your sorrow. Change is the Law of Life. What you call Death is Life itself. In a moment you are a millionaire in the very next you are poor. Mine-Yours; Small-Big; Ours-Theirs; Remove this from your mind, then everything is yours and you are: everybody’s.

This Body is not yours, nor you are of this body. Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Ether comprisee this body and unto this shall it turn. But the Soul is Immortal, then what are you? Surrender unto the Lord, he is ultimate support. He who experiences this is completely free from Fear, Worry and Despair. Whatever you do, offer it unto Him. By this you shall forever experience Eternal Bliss.

God doesn't exist.

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed.

As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation.

They talked about so many things and various subjects. When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: "I don't believe that God exists."

" Why do you say that?"asked the customer.

"Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist.

Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine loving a God who would allow all of these things."

The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument.

The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and un-kept.

The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber: "You know what? Barbers do not exist."

" How can you say that?"asked the surprised barber. "I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!"

"No!" the customer exclaimed. "Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside."

"Ah, but barbers DO exist! What happens is, people do not come to me."

"Exactly !"- affirmed the customer. "That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! What happens, is, people don't go to Him and do not look for Him. That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world."

JAI SAI RAM!!!

In these modern times we put too much emphasis on material things and on money. We believe that money is power. If we have money, people will respect us. If we have money, people will admire us. If we have money, we can have anything we want. Maybe we can purchase anything in the material world, but we cannot purchase anything in the Unseen World. The Unseen World is not for sale. It can only be given away. Love, affection, admiration, trust, respect, commitment -- these must be earned or given away. If we use these things from the Unseen World, we are using real power.

O'My Sai, let me demonstrate Your power today. Let me be loving to all I meet.

CHATTING WITH BABA

BABA : Hello. Did you call me?

Me: Called you? No.. who is this?

BABA : This is BABA. I heard your prayers. So I thought I will chat.

Me: I do pray. Just makes me feel good. I am actually busy now. I am in the midst of something.

BABA : What are you busy at? Ants are busy too.

Me: Don't know. But I cant find free time. Life has become hectic. It's rush hour all the time.

BABA : Sure. Activity gets you busy. But productivity gets you results. Activity consumes time. Productivity frees it.

Me: I understand. But I still can't figure out. By the way, I was not expecting YOU to buzz me on instant messaging chat.

BABA : Well I wanted to resolve your! fight for time, by giving you some clarity. In this net era, I wanted to reach you through the medium you are comfortable with.

Me: Tell me, why has life become complicated now?

BABA : Stop analyzing life. Just live it. Analysis is what makes it
complicated.

Me: why are we then constantly unhappy?

BABA : Your today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. You are worrying because you are analyzing. Worrying has become your habit. That's why you are not happy.

Me: But how can we not worry when there is so much uncertainty?

BABA : Uncertainty is inevitable, but worrying is optional.

Me: But then, there is so much pain due to uncertainty. .

BABA : Pain is inevitable able, but suffering is optional.

Me: If suffering is optional, why do good people always suffer?

BABA : Diamond cannot be polished without friction. Gold cannot be purified without fire. Good people go through trials, but don't suffer. With that experience their life become better not bitter.

Me: You mean to say such experience is useful?

BABA : Yes. In every terms, Experience is a hard teacher. She gives the test first and the lessons afterwards.

Me: But still, why should we go through such tests? Why cant we be free from problems?

BABA : Problems are Purposeful Roadblocks Offering Beneficial Lessons (to) Enhance Mental Strength.

When you are born, you are not born with garlands and necklaces. You have no pearls or diamonds... no golden ornaments. But around your neck hangs the garland of your past Karma (actions) and acquired “samskaras” (subtle impressions). When you die you do not take anything with you except the consequences of your good and evil actions. You are always decked with the invisible garland of your inexorable Karma, which pursues and burdens you. This burden of Karma can be lightened by God’s grace and your own realization of the oneness of your soul with the universal soul. Karma can be destroyed by Karma alone.

All the pains and pleasures man experiences are the results of his own actions
and not due to any act of the Divine.

The Lady And The Basket

A funny story tells about an old lady who was living in the village. She had never owned nor even been in a car before. One day, she was returning home from the market carrying a big heavy basket on her head, when a rich man riding his car passed by. Kindly, he offered to drive the lady to her home. She thanked him and got into the car with her basket.

On the way, the man glanced at the lady in the mirror, still holding her basket over her head. Astonished, he asked her to lay the basket down in the car and rest. The old lady naively replied, "Oh my son, your car is carrying me; this is enough, I should not burden it carrying my basket too!" What an innocently funny response!

We sometimes do the same with BABA SAI.  Everyday, BABA carries us during the day. Still, we insist on carrying our heavy baskets of worries and fear of the future, for family, kids, spouses, money, jobs, etc...  We are carried by Almighty  BABA's Hands, watched over by Sleepless Eyes and BABA plans our future. Let us then relax and lay down everything in BABA's Hands. The old lady, if she agreed to lay down the basket, would have to carry it again when she returned home. But the beautiful thing about BABA is that once we cast our heavy basket in HIS Hands we do not need to think about it anymore.

"Delight yourself also in the BABA, and HE shall give you the desires of your heart."

HAPPINESS

Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

To speak of health, happiness, and prosperity to every person that you meet.

To make all your friends aware of the special qualities within them.

To look at the sunny side of every thing and let your optimism work to make your dreams come true.

To think, work for, and expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others, as you are about your own.

To forget past mistakes and press on towards a greater future.

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times, as a smile radiates warmth and love.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time left to criticize others.

To be too wise for worry, too tolerant for anger,
and too courageous for fear.

To Be Happy.

Devotion, direct experience of the Supreme Lord, and detachment from other things — these three occur simultaneously for one who has taken shelter of the Lord,  in the same way that pleasure, nourishment and relief from hunger come simultaneously and increasingly, with each bite, for a person engaged in eating.

When you are depressed by what appears to be loss or calamity, engage yourselves in Naamasmarana, the recitation and recollection of the Names of the Lord; that will give you consolation, courage and true perspective. Remember the distress and calamity that the saints underwent with enthusiastic welcome and be calm during every storm. People laughed at them and called them mad; but they knew that they were in the Grace Hospital of God, not the mental hospital of man. They had full faith in their destiny and so they had full faith in God; they laughed when calamities tried to cow their eagerness, for they knew their latent strength of the Atma (spirit) within.

HAre Krsna ! Jai Sai Ram.

A screw that is connected with a machine is valuable because it is working with the whole machine. And if the screw is taken away from the machine, or if it is faulty, it is worthless. My finger is worth millions of dollars as long it is attached to this body and is serving the body. And if it is cut off from this body, then what is it's worth ? Nothing. Similarly, our relationship is that we are very small particles of God; therefore our duty is to dovetail our energies with Him and cooperate with Him. That is our relationship. Otherwise we are worthless. We are cut off. When the finger becomes useless the doctor says, "Oh, amputate this finger. Otherwise the body will be poisoned." Similarly, when we become godless we are cut off from our relationship with God and suffer in this material world. If we try to join again with the Supreme Lord, then our relationship is revived.

Hare Krsna ! Jai Sai Ram !

The soul in its materially conditioned state perpetually travels through time and space. By the cosmic law of karma, it takes up residence in different bodies on different planets within the material universes. But wherever the soul journeys, it encounters the same conditions. As Lord Krsna says in Bhagavad-gita (8.16): "From the highest planet in the material world down to the lowest, all are places of misery wherein repeated birth and death take place. But one who attains to My abode .. never takes birth again." The Gita and other Vedic literatures are instruction manuals that teach us the real goal of life's journey. By understanding the science of reincarnation, we free ourselves from the forces of karma and return to the spiritual abode of knowledge, bliss, and eternity.

The form and appearance of God manifestation are determined by the mind of the devotee but it is not the finality, there is a sense of duality - Bhagwan Ramana Maharishi.

Paramatma is an ocean and Jeevatma a bubble in that ocean.

Properties of a bubble and ocean are one and same except that one is finite the other infinite. -  Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.

A drop in an ocean is not separate from the ocean.

It is a bubble over the drop that gives it an appearance of separateness, but when the bubble bursts the drop is not, and the indivisible ocean is.

When the bubble of ignorance bursts the self realizes its oneness with the indivisible Self - Meher Baba.

The only Real Existence is that of the One and only God; who is the Self in every (finite) self - Meher Baba.

Meditate always on my formless nature, which is knowledge incarnate, consciousness and bliss.

If you cannot do this, meditate on My Form from top to toe as you see here night and day.

As you go on doing this, your Vrittis will concentrate on one point and the distinction between the Dhyata (meditator), Dhyana (act of meditation), Dhyeya (this meditated upon) will be lost and the meditator will be one with the Consciousness and be merged in the Brahman.  - Sri Sai Samarth to Hemadpanth.

OM SRI SAI RAM

God is infinite intelligence.

Infinite intelligence is a phenomenon and not a body that has size and shape.

It's much like 'The Truth' that cannot be visually described.

This Infinite Intelligence or Paramatma or Spirit or Eternal Brahman is not bound by the World which is a Time and Space concept.

In Srimad Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna says "you need special eyes to see my Vishwaroopa".

With a naked eye we can attempt to perceive infinity from his creation, we can look unto the sky, stars, mountains and oceans but they are only a finite view of Infinity which runs the show Creation, preservation and destruction.

Jai Sai Ram. Hare Krsna!

In the Bhagavad-gita (18.65) we find this verse:

man-mana bhava mad-bhakto mad-yaji mam namaskuru
mam evaisyasi satyam te pratijane priyo ‘si me

“Absorb your mind and heart in Me, become My devotee, worship Me, offer your obeisances to Me, and certainly you will come to Me. I make this promise to you because you are
very dear to Me.“

This is the best of all verses in the Bhagavad-gita It is even
better than the verse after it (18.66), in which Krishna’s says,
sarva dharman parityajya:

“Give up all forms of religiosity and come exclusively to My shelter. I will free you from all sinful
reactions. Do not fear.“

Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 11.11.29-32
The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: O Uddhava, a saintly person is merciful and never injures others. Even if others are aggressive he is tolerant and forgiving toward all living entities. His strength and meaning in life come from the truth itself, he is free from all envy and jealousy, and his mind is equal in material happiness and distress. Thus, he dedicates his time to work for the welfare of all others. His intelligence is never bewildered by material desires, and he has controlled his senses. His behavior is always pleasing, never harsh and always exemplary, and he is free from possessiveness. He never endeavors in ordinary, worldly activities, and he strictly controls his eating. He therefore always remains peaceful and steady. A saintly person is thoughtful and accepts Me as his only shelter. Such a person is very cautious in the execution of his duties and is never subject to superficial transformations, because he is steady and noble, even in a distressing situation. He has conquered over the six material qualities — namely hunger, thirst, lamentation, illusion, old age and death. He is free from all desire for prestige and offers honor to others. He is expert in reviving the Kṛṣṇa consciousness of others and therefore never cheats anyone. Rather, he is a well-wishing friend to all, being most merciful. Such a saintly person must be considered the most learned of men. He perfectly understands that the ordinary religious duties prescribed by Me in various Vedic scriptures possess favorable qualities that purify the performer, and he knows that neglect of such duties constitutes a discrepancy in one's life. Having taken complete shelter at My lotus feet, however, a saintly person ultimately renounces such ordinary religious duties and worships Me alone. He is thus considered to be the best among all living entities.

The gate was opened to me ... in one quarter of an hour I saw and knew more than if I had been many years together at a University ... I saw it as in a great deep in the internal; for I had a thorough view of the Universe, as a complex moving fullness wherein all things are couched and wrapped up.     (Jacob Boehme, Mystic)

Our true nature is not limited ... it is like the vast ocean. ... When we touch Supreme Consciousness through meditation, then we are boundless, we are everywhere, we are eternal.  (Amma Karunamayi)

God-consciousness is 10 million times more blissful than sexual experience.
 (Sage Ramakrishna Paramahamsa)

To the enlightened one, the world as he knew it ceases to be, and everything now stands enmantled (shrouded) by a shining vesture of divine effulgence, hitherto invisible to his normal vision.(Swami Chidananda, Light Fountain Divine Life Society)

If I were to spend years and years imagining how to invent anything so beautiful, I could not do it, and I do not even know how I should try, for, even in its whiteness and radiance alone, it exceeds all that we can imagine.     (Saint Teresa of Avila)

Everything that occurred to me while I was in this state of consciousness was vastly beyond anything that I had ever experienced and yet at the same time it was familiar - as if I had always known of its existence. Even now when I try to describe something so beautiful I am mute with awe. There are no words in any language to describe such grandeur.

Diverse Expressions of One Great Truth

When rain pours down from the sky, its pure water falls on the earth, mountains, rivers, and the sea. but the pure rain water acquires the colour and taste of the region or spot where it falls. Likewise, prophets and messiahs, coming down in different parts of the world at different times, imparted their message in terms appropriate to the time, the place and the conditions of the people concerned. Religions cannot be considered different from each other for this reason. All religions have taught only what is good for humanity. Religion should be practised with this awareness. If the minds are pure, how can religion be bad?

Truth is one. It is beyond mind and speech. It transcends the categories of time and space. Innumerable seekers have pursued different paths to recognise this Truth. There are notable differences among the seekers of Truth. These differences do not affect the nature of the universe. On the contrary, these differences must be viewed as different stages in the understanding of the Cosmic process. It is the existence of these differences that has prompted the continuous search for a unifying principle

All faiths are inter-related and mutually indebted to each other for the principles they teach and the disciplines they recommend. The Vedic Religion was the first in time; Buddhism which appeared about 2800 years ago, was its son; Christianity, which was influenced much by the Orient was its grand-son. And Islam, which has the Prophets of Christianity as its base was like the great-grandson. All have Love as the Fundamental Discipline of the Mind, in order to chasten it and merge man with the Divine.

The followers of every religion, in their own way and style, call upon the one God who is omnipresent. It is the same God who confers upon all mankind health, prosperity, peace, and happiness. No religion has a separate God showering grace upon those who profess to abide by that faith alone. God is one, whatever the name or form in which he is worshipped. God blesses a devotee according to the depth of his devotion, without regard to the name or form used for worship. It is not mentioned anywhere that the Grace of God is available only for certain classes or races or grades of people. From the smallest to the biggest all are entitled to it. The Lord is everywhere, everything.
The Great Teachers belong to mankind. It is wrong to believe that Jesus belongs only to the Christians and that Christmas is a Holy Festival for the West only. To accept One of them as one's own and discard the rest as belonging to others, is a sign of pettiness. Christ, Rama, Krishna, - they are for all men everywhere

Let the different faiths exist. Let them flourish and let the glory of God be sung in all the languages of the world and in a variety of tunes. Respect the differences between the faiths and recognise them as valid as long as they do not extinguish the flame of unity.

Becoming Free
A Reminder of the Principles of Life

1: Life does not work through indecision. Indecision promotes blocks, confusion and stress. Make a decision and allow life to find movement through you. Trust yourself.

2: The 3 C's of life are Courage, Capacity and Commitment. It takes Courage and a commitment to make many of life's decisions, and capacity to follow them through. The 3 C's of a successful relationship are Caring, Consideration and Communication. Communication opens the door between us, consideration allows us to pass through it and our ability to care for each other unites us.

3: Truth is not truth out of timing- yet it remains truth. We are the timing to recognize truth.

4: The mind recoils from the unknown, so we seek to make everything known, and, thus sage. Imagination is the key to the unknown- positive, uplifting imagination.

5: For as long as we search for Our God Self, we deny that we are it. Loving your self reveals your truth.

6: Becoming free is not changing yourself into someone you think you should be. Becoming free is falling in love with who you are- right now.

7: Imagine a room of pitch dark and a room of bright light connected by a door. When you open the door what happens? Light floods into the dark room, illuminating it. Live accordingly, think thoughts of light.

8: F.E.A.R- False Evidence Appearing Real

9: Anything of the past that is unresolved is unresolved now. Living NOW resolves the past.

10: Life flows from the inside out, never the reverse. Understand this and you cease to be a victim.

11: Love responds- fear reacts. Love connects- fear separates. Love uplifts- fear deflates. Love creates- fear destroys.

12: There is no such thing as a mistake- only experience. There is no such thing as failure- only people's condemnation. There is no such thing as success- only people's approval. Let life live through you.

13: Do not get caught up in modifying your life, allow life to change YOU. Modification is a superficial exterior veneer, change is an inner shift in consciousness.

14: Pain is a measure of your resistance to change.

15: Decide whether you want to be an onlooker of life or a participant. This is the birthplace of choice.

16: You hear with your ears- but you listen with your mind. You look with your eyes- but you see from the heart.

17: Consciousness is not contained in your body- you are the consciousness that contains the body. Consciousness draws to itself form through which to express

18: Your mind cannot exist in the moment. You cannot think your way into the moment, you can only think your way out of it. This indicates that your mind/intellect cannot set you free. Only your consciousness is aware of NOW. True freedom is a state of consciousness.

19: We each live in our own universe, a universe of our making. It is designed to support our beliefs and our focus. Our thoughts are our focus, so observe your thoughts, focus on your blessings, and trust. This is how you become a participant.

20: Practise seeing all life around you as an aspect of yourself. In this way you shatter the illusion of separation.

21: Your mind does now know the difference between what you do want or what you don't want, it only knows what you focus on. Many people focus on what they don't have, what they are incapable of doing and their sicknesses.

22: If you focus on what you do have, it increases. If you focus on what you don't have, you will have even less. If you focus on your capabilities, they grow, if you focus on your health, it improves.

23: Your mind does not know the difference between a powerfully imagined reality and a physical happening reality. Why? Because there is no difference.

24: You only have a problem if you believe you have a problem.

25: Live these principles and you will be practising reality. Practise reality until you overcome the illusion. It is only an illusion that you are not free, now!

Life As A Jewel

One afternoon Guru Nanak and his company were resting on the banks of the Ganges at Patna. Mardana was idly inspecting a stone he had picked up along the road, thinking of the vast throngs who had come to hear the Guru. "Master," said Mardana, "you teach a way for every person to find liberation. But many of those who listen still seem to spend much of their time in conflict, and in seeking out excitement and other idle pursuits. Why do they waste away their lives so?"

"Most people don't recognize its value," replied the Guru, "although human life is the dearest treasure on this earth."

"Surly everyone can see the value of life," said Mardana.

"No," said Nanak. "Each man places his own value on things according to what he thinks. A different man with different knowledge will place a different value. That stone you found in the dirt will make a good example. Take it to the marketplace and see what you can get for it."

Puzzled, Mardana took the stone to the marketplace and at a stall that sold sweets asked what the vendor would trade for it. The man laughed. "Go away, you're wasting my time."

He next tried a produce seller. "I have paying customers to wait on," said the grocer. "I'll give you an onion for it just to get you out of here."

Mardana tried several more shops with no better response. Finally he came to the shop of Salis Raj, the jeweler. Salis Raj's eyes opened wide when he saw the stone. "I'm sorry," he said, "I don't have enough money to buy your gem. But I will give you a hundred rupees if you will let me look at it a while longer."

Mardana hurried back to the Guru to tell him what had happened.

"See," said Guru Nanak, "how when we are ignorant we mistake a valuable gem for a worthless stone. If someone had told you its value before you knew what it was, you would have thought they were crazy. Such a jewel is human life, and whatever you've traded for it, that is what is yours."

"A man has served the family with heart and soul throughout the whole life, and when he is old man, if he asks permission from his wife, "My dear wife, now I have served so much. Let me take sannyasa now," the wife will never give permission. She will say, "What you have done? This son is not yet settled up; this daughter is not yet married. How you can take sannyasa? So you cannot do." So actually, he is the servant of the wife, but he is thinking, "I am master of the family." This is called maya."

Waves in an Ocean

A little wave was bobbing along in the ocean, having a grand old time. He's enjoying the wind and the fresh air--until he notip'=ces the other waves in front of him, crashing against the shore.

"My God, this is terrible," the wave says. "Look what's going to happen to me!"

Then along comes another wave. It sees the first wave, looking grim, and it says to him, "Why do you look so sad?"

The first wave says, "You don't understand! We're all going to crash! All of us waves are going to be nothing! Isn't this terrible?"

The second wave says, "No, YOU don't understand. You're not a wave, you're part of the ocean."

By sweetness is meant sociability, civility, broadmindedness, polite speaking, cheerfulness and forbearance. It is necessary for a beautiful face to have good habits, otherwise the beauty is useless. If there is a beautiful house in a beautiful city, but only owls reside there, what is its beauty?

There may be a green tree, but if there are no flowers or fruits on it, then what use can it be? A gold watch which does not tell time, or a beautiful lamp which does not give light, is of no value. Similarly, a man may be very beautiful, and may wear costly clothes, but if he is not social, is not good mannered, courteous and polite, then he is without human virtues. What makes a man really a man are his sociability and cheerfulness.

The bounties of the BABA SAI are reserved for the person who greets others with a cheerful heart and an open mind. Sweet speech full of humility goes to the bottom of another man’s heart, and this is the real glory and embellishment of man.

However, serious the difficulty, use politeness, sweetness and melody. It can succeed better than use of the sword or violence. Think before you speak. Even if there is an occasion, ask to be excused, as a matter of courtesy. It takes sweet to take bitter pills from a cheerful person. It, however, becomes difficult to take even a sweet thing from the hands of a rude man.

The mind is like a crow, which has no other wish than to annoy people. But as soon as it is steeped in love, it becomes a swan and troubles no one.

The heart is the true Dwarkamai of BABA. It is the temple of the BABA. Everyone’s heart is the Temple like. He who causes pain to hearts strikes and breaks that temple.

He who causes pain to others not only desecrates and ruins the temples of others, but demolishes the temple of his own heart also.

How can we be happy if we injure any organic. If one understands this, he does not injure any living being or any other animate object, to say nothing of injuring a man. To think ill of others is a sin of the mind. Jealousy, hatred and enmity are evils of the mind. Harsh words, criticism of others, speaking ill of them and abusing them are sins of speech; wrong actions are sins of the body.

When you meet another person cheerfully, you shower flowers, and the other man becomes full of its scent. Be cheerful like a flower. Whoever would meet you would share your happiness. Whoever comes in contact with you would be pleased with you. To be courteous on a particular occasion is called politeness, but when one is always courteous and mild he is called civil. This virtue is very helpful in spiritual matters.

No amount of money can procure the bliss that you attain by serving others. Money comes and goes, but morality comes and grows. There have been many men of affluence in this land, but what happened to them ultimately? They had to leave the world empty-handed. No one can carry e.en a fistful of dust at the time of departing from the world. Otherwise, there would have been rationing even for dust in the country! When you leave the body, you carry with you only the good and bad that you have done in your life.

Anand means bliss, giri means mountain -- a bliss mountain.

And bliss has something to do with height, with plenitude.  It takes you to the peaks, it takes you to the ultimate plenitude, beyond which one cannot go.

Bliss is the omega point, and everybody is seeking that peak.  Sometimes one may be seeking a wrong way, may be moving in a cul-de-sac or may be thinking that one is going up and is actually going down, but still the unconscious desire is for the peak.  One who is going deeper into the dark valley, even he is searching for that bliss.  He is not going into the valley deliberately. He is misguided, he is confused, but as far as his longing is concerned, it is the same.

The sinner and the saint, both are searching for bliss; the poor and the rich, the respected and the condemned, the famous and the non-famous -- their humanity is one. At that point all human beings have the same heart.'Then there is nobody who is rich and nobody who is poor, and nobody is a sinner and nobody is a saint, nobody is American and nobody is Indian, nobody is Chinese, nobody black, nobody white, because the greatest desire and the deepest desire is the same. There we exist as human beings, not even man and woman; we exist just as human beings.  And if you look deep into reality you will see that it is not so only of human beings, because trees and birds and animals and rocks are also searching.

.. in their own way.  Everybody is groping in the dark but the longing is the same, the dream is the same.

And bliss is like a mountain: the higher you go, the more pure air becomes available. And one cannot go very fast; one has to get accustomed to the purified atmosphere, because we live in pollution, we live in heavy dust; we are accustomed to darkness. So those peaks are dizzying too; the higher the flight, the more the dizzying. One has to go very slowly so that one becomes accustomed to each step and each step leads to a higher step.

Your growth will be very very slow.  And it is good. Never imitate anybody, never think that the other is going very fast. Keep to your pace, be true to your pace.  There are slow-growing trees and fast-growing trees. The slow-growing trees cannot move with the fast-growing trees.

Everybody is so individual that it is difficult even to find a single other person who is exactly like you.
So remember that: never imitate.  Just look inside, listen to your own heart, and always go with your own heart, howsoever long it takes.

Spiritual Blossoms means. If ones u feel or getting that God is in your self only, U will get everything I can say, Because after that you do not try to do anything just trust on your self and God the things are automatically come towards you, This is the Spiritual thing.
