He went to his maternal uncle Loban for shelter and after sometime he married his both the daughters. One day Jacob saw God in his dreams and when God was going away from him he asked God to give him blessings but God refused. After Jacobs fight with God, God agreed to bless him. God blessed Jacob with the new name, Israel. God also told Jacob that the place where he would settle now would be called by his name, that is, Israel. In this way, he deceived God too and fulfilled his wish.
