  • IN TUNE WITH SAI BABA

(As published in Souvenir published by Sri Shiridi Sai Baba Samajam, Hyderabad in the year 1991)

"If one  ever meditates on Me, repeats My name, sings My deeds, and is thus transformed    into  Me,  one's    karma   is    destroyed.
I stay by his side always."

    SHIRDI SAI BABA

My husband is a doctor - an old fashioned 24-hour-a- day doctor for whom 'Hospital is the temple and patient God". He will be usually up at 7 AM for the Dispensary and his hours last late in the evening till their are no more patients waiting. But he always comes home at noon, and before eating, went in the den and close the door for a half hour of quiet time alone. He calls this his 'daily dose of silence' I now know that it is this time of stillness and quiet renewal that gives him the strength to endure the long hours and that has kept alive the positive outlook that has been so much a part of his character.

In our modern, Pressure-Cooker world where the most frequently prescribed drugs are tranquilizers, the need for my husband's prescription for daily doses of silence is greater than ever
When I asked him what he did during his quiet time, he answered: " I just sit still and clear my mind - get in tune with Sai Baba. It relaxes me and brings me peace. I can't really say how. I do this. Everyone has to find his own way".

It was not until many days later that I began, in earnest, to search for' my own way'. I have always been a devotee of Sai Baba, and prayer and worship have been an integral part of my life. But the meditation I did was random and wandering and it did not bring me the relaxation and peace my husband had found.

When at last I began studying tune subject seriously, I discovered that Sai-devotees have used meditation as a means of quietening the mind and getting 'in tune with Sai Baba'.

"Simply say SAI SAI with heart overflowing ................ I rest in such devotees".

I have read these words so many times but they never really truant much to me. I had not been conscious of Sainath seated deep in my heart because I had been too busy frantically scurrying from one external goal to another. When I prayed, I would direct my attention outward, as if I were sending long-distance messages to a remote Being way off in the sky somewhere-

Then I started to meditate. I learned to withdraw my attention temporarily from external distractions and to focus deeply inward until I felt I was standing in the presence of Lord Sainath. For quite sometime, specific forms of meditation on Sai Baba have been a vital part of my prayer life, bringing me heightened awareness, increased perception and alert restfulness.

The power is Sai Baba's power; the meditation  are the lens to focus the power.

There are many ways of coming into the presence of Sai Baba through meditation, but I think probably the best way to start is with -Guided meditations'. Let me share two of them with Sai-devotees. It is best to choose one that seems to appeal you to and then plan to use it every day for at least three weeks .Even if you feel that one type of meditation is not -working' for you, don't abandon it in less than three weeks. It often takes that long for your mental, emotional and spiritual instruments to attune themselves to the new harmony.

Set aside a time when you will not be disturbed for at feast 15 or 20 minutes, Follow the directions given, visualizing each part of the meditation. Take your time- Don't go on until you truly feel and experience the scene being described. After a few times of doing this, you will be able to do the entire meditation alone-Sit on the floor or comfortably in a chair that has a straight back. For most techniques, don't try to meditate lying down. You might fall asleep, It is best not to wear any binding clothes that may interfere with your breathing or make you tense.

Don't strain, Remeber, the gate is always open. Sai Baba seeks you. All you need to do is to be still and create a space for Him to come to you.

nice message and thanks to Souvenir published by Sri Shiridi Sai Baba Samajam.I only hope  it is also useful to all us in our daily life.om sairam.

A Person, who has controlled his mind, can achieve any success in his life. How far you are trying to control your mind?
The mind that judges not others ever remains tension-free.
