  • One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed that he was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed two sets of Footprints in the sand,
one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the Footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of Footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest
and saddest times of his life.
This really bothered him, and he questioned the Lord about it,
"Lord, you said that once you decided to follow you,
you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed
that during the most troublesome times in my life
there is only one set of Footprints.
    I don't undestand why,
    when I needed you most,
    you would leave me."
    The Lord replied:
    "My son, My precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you have seen only one set of Footprints,
it was Then that I carried you."

i generally tend to think a lot and start feeling bad when i feel that Baba is not listening, and i came across this lovely story which shows how we shouldn't think that Baba is not with us..
everytime we feel that we are suffering and Baba isnt listening to us, if we remember this story, it'll make us peaceful :)

    Baba bless us all,
    om sai ram

  • neelu ji very nice story, yes we normally think that during bad situation we are alone, but it is not true. Our Lord is always with us, we just concentrate on our problems and forget to see him.

I would like to mention here that, being a human being sometimes we ask for what is not good for us, or we are not eligible for it. But SHREE SAI BABA being vidhata has to see before giving us our request:

    1. Is my devotee strong enough to handle his requested thing.
    2. Is the requested thing good for my requesting devotee.

If option 1. then SHREE SAI BABA first starts making his devotee eligible for what he has asked, and that takes time. The period depends on the developing quality and characteristics of requesting devotee. Hence we feel that our prayers are not listened, we dont see the process of our development for requested thing as it is invisible to our eyes. Once we are developed we get the requested thing, but few think that it was their ability. Most of them thanks their Lord.

If option 2. then SHREE SAI BABA makes the requesting devotee to forget his request. The devotee must start thinking that on my request if SHREE SAI BABA did not give me what I wanted means that thing is not good for me.

Most of the time we think we are doing right or requesting a right thing but it may not be so. It would become an bearable burden. On this point I remember  a short story which is as follows:

Once an aged poor person, collected vegetables and remains of grocery from weekly market in a bag, which was too heavy for him to lift. He was thinking what to do now, he has enough food for a week or so, but he cannot lift it up. A passerby strong man from well to do family saw this poor man and at once understood the situation. He thought that if I pick up the weight and place it on his head he can carry it home to his family, what a great thing I will do at no extra cost. He walked towards that old man and said I will help you to lift up the load and place it on your head. Old man was happy, so the load was lifted and placed over the head of old man. The Old man might have walked few steps and crumbled on ground due to the weight of load and injured himself. The young man had walked away and was not aware of the result of the helping hand extended by him.

But our Lord SHREE SAI BABA is aware when we will crumble down, so he keeps that thing away from us.

  • Sagarika Ji thanks for appreciation and Blessings.

It is our Lord SHREE SAI BABA inspires us through short stories here. As it is said in SHREE SAI SATCHARITRA

"Though Baba never left Shirdi, He sent some to Machhindragad, some to Kolhapur or Sholapur for practising sadhanas. To some He appeared in His usual form, to some He appeared in waking or dreaming state, day or night and satisfied their desires. It is impossible to describe all the methods, that Baba used in imparting instructions to His Bhaktas. In this particular case, He sent Das Ganu to Vile Parle, where he got his problem solved, through the maid-servant."

here is another short story on "In the Hands of God"

One day, the caliph Omar met a group of people who were sitting around doing nothing. He asked them who they were. "We are of those who put their affairs in the hands of God, and we trust in God," they replied.

"Indeed you do not!" he retorted. "You are nothing but freeloaders, parasites upon other people's efforts! Someone who truly trusts in God first plants seed in the belly of this earth, then puts his affairs in the hand of God, the Sustainer."

  • Here's another beautiful article i read today..
Just the perfect article to ease my thoughts regarding the same kind of worrying that im doing..
Baba, You know what is worrying me the most right now, so many negative thoughts, please clear them all Baba, ive left everything to You, please take care of it... Please Baba please..

    The Article -
When I was a little boy, my mother used to embroider a
great deal. I would sit at her knee and look up from
the floor and ask what she was doing. She informed me
that she was embroidering. I told her that it looked
like a mess from where I was. As from the underside I
watched her work within the boundaries of the little
round hoop that she held in her hand, I complained to
her that it sure looked messy from where I sat.

She would smile at me, look down and gently say, "My
son, you go about your playing for a while and when I
am finished with my embroidering, I will put you on my
knee and let you see it from my side."

I would wonder why she was using some dark threads
along with the bright ones and why they seemed so
jumbled from my view. A few minutes would pass and
then I would hear Mother's voice say, "Son, come and
sit on my knee." This I did only to be surprised and
thrilled to see a beautiful flower or a sunset. I
could not believe it, because from underneath it
    looked so messy.

Then Mother would say to me, "My son, from underneath
it did look messy and jumbled, but you did not realize
that there was a pre-drawn plan on the top. It was a
design. I was only following it. Now look at it from
my side and you will see what I was doing."

    om sai ram
    allah mallik

  • neeluji nice to see this page active again, its a nice story. I too read two short stories which are worth reading:

Being a toy maker, children use to bring their broken toys, with tears, for me to mend. Once I took my broken dreams to God so that he could mend it, because he is my friend.

But then, instead of leaving Him in peace to work alone on my broken dreams, I hung around and tried to help . . . with ways that were my own.

At last I snatched my dreams back and cried, How can You be so slow? And I added to my cry, God don’t you see how I repair children toys and they become happy. God replied "My child, What could I do?  You never let me do it as I should. Didn’t you see, that children never interrupt in your mending work. How can I make you happy if you interfere in my job."

The second short story is heart touching:

    Touching life story.....

A young man was getting ready to graduate college. For
many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's
showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told
him that was all he wanted.

As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited
signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the
morning  of his graduation his father called him into his private
study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine
son, and  told him how much he loved him. He handed his son
    a beautiful   wrapped gift box.

Curious, but somewhat disappointed the young man
opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible. Angrily,
he raised his voice at his father and said, "With all your money you
give  me  a Bible?" and stormed out of the house, leaving the holy
    book.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in
    business.
He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his
father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He
had   not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make
arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had
passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He
needed   to come home immediately and take care things.
When he arrived at  his father's house, sudden sadness and
    regret filled his heart.

He began to search his father's important papers and
saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With
tears,  he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. As he
read those   words, a car key dropped from an envelope
    taped behind the Bible.
It  had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the
sports  car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation,
         and the words...PAID IN FULL.

How many times do we miss God's blessings because they are not
         packaged as we expected?

Its Wise to accept then expect

  • Here's another beautiful story i read today :)

A warrior died in war and went to heaven. He said to the gatekeeper, "Before I enter heaven, I would like to have a tour of hell." The gatekeeper agreed.

When they got to hell, the warrior was astonished to see a great table piled high with every tasty food he could imagine - anything one could possibly want to eat or drink. The warrior then looked at the people. They all looked lean, pale and suffering. "How could this be?" he asked the guide. "Are they not allowed to eat?"

"Oh yes, they can eat," said the guide "but they must use the chopsticks they are given. Chopsticks are five feet long and they must hold them at the end. Just look at them. They miss their mouths every time!"

"Enough," said the warrior, "This is hell, indeed! Please take me back to heaven."

In heaven, to his surprise, he saw a similar room, with a similar table loaded with all the same food. But, the people were in radiant health, happy and well-nourished. The guide said "These people have to use the same 5-foot long chopsticks."

The warrior turned to the guide and said, "How then are these people doing so good?" The guide replied: "The difference is people in heaven know how to feed each other. People sit 5 feet apart and feed each other with chopsticks."

Helping each other out, living in harmony is the main teaching of Sri Shirdi Sai

Very Touching Lines and absolute Truth!

neelu ji very nice story, yes we normally think that during bad situation we are alone, but it is not true. Our Lord is always with us, we just concentrate on our problems and forget to see him.

I would like to mention here that, being a human being sometimes we ask for what is not good for us, or we are not eligible for it. But SHREE SAI BABA being vidhata has to see before giving us our request:

  • Here's another very nice article i read today..

    Rules for happiness -

This 92-years old lady was dropped off at a nursing home by her family to live on her own. When the nursing home staff described that only a small room is available in the nursing home, she said "I love it!" as if she is an eight-year-old receiving a wonderful toy.

"Mrs. Jones, you haven't seen the room yet; just wait till you see the room," said the attendant.

"That doesn't have anything to do with it," she replied. "Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged... it's how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it."

"It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do."

"Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away.  So, my advice to you would be to remember the five rules to be happy:

    1. Free your heart from hatred.
    2. Free your mind from worries.
    3. Live simply.
    4. Give more.
    5. Expect less."
