Mumbai : With unprecedented rush in the past few days,
Shirdi Saibaba Sansthan expects the Donations to touch a record figure of Rs.250 crore this fiscal year.
The Collection in the Temple Hundi was Rs 9.9 crore between December 23rd and 31st`2009,
with the estimated footfall to be over 10 lakh during the period.
The Saibaba temple saw the highest number of devotees on 25th and 26th December`09.

In December, the collection stood at Rs 11.45 crore.
The collection in the same month in the previous two years were Rs.8 crore and Rs.7 crore respectively.
According to chief account officer Hemant Jadhavar, the collection of Rs 9.9 crore comprises Cash, Ornaments,
Offerings in kind and the returns from sale of Laddus.

“The Collection in the past 9 days was the highest ever.
The Comparative figures of December for the past two years show that the percentage
in Cash offerings is more this year as it has risen by Rs 2.50 crore from last year’s Rs.1 crore.
Hike in individual offerings could be a reason for the rise in donations,” said Jadhavar.

The highest Donations to the Sansthan come in December every year.
“We expect the annual revenue to rise over Rs. 250 crore from Rs. 231 crore in 2008-09 and Rs. 195 crore in 2007-08,” said Jadhavar.
Earlier, the Hundi was opened every eight days, but now it is opened every third day.

Though more than 2 lakh devotees visit the Temple every day on year-end, only 25,000 get official accommodation by the Sansthan.
The rest is left with the option of Private Hotels at hefty rates.

“We Accommodate 11,000 devotees in the Rooms and 15,000 in Pandals erected for the season.
The Devotees are offered meals at Rs.10/- and breakfast at Rs.4/-.
The Cost of production of the meals is double the amount that we offer,” said Yashvant Mane, chief executive officer of the Sansthan.
