IS LISTENING TO SAISATCHARITRA AS GOOD AS READING IT ?

DEAR FELLOW DEVOTEES, OM SAIRAM. SOME TIME BACK I HAD DOWNLOADED A RECITATION OF SHRI SAI SATCHARITRA BY SHRI SHAILENDRA BHARATI IN HINDI . I LISTEN TO IT WHENEVER I DRIVE TO WORK AND BACK. SHAILENDRA JI HAS DONE TOTAL AND ABSOLUTE JUSTICE TO SHRI SAI SATCHARITRA, HIS RECITATION IS INCREDIBLE AND IT GIVES ME IMMENSE PEACE OF MIND. I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO DO JUSTICE TO THE CHARITRA  WHETHER IN ENGLISH, HINDI OR MARATHI ALTHOUGH I READ AND WRITE ALL THE LANGUAGES. BUT I HAVE A DOUBT IN MY MIND , IS LISTENING ENOUGH , OR I SHOULD DEFINITELY READ IT TO GET THE FULL EFFECTS OF READING THE SAI SATCHARITRA. ANY HELP OR ADVISE WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED. Sai Ram.

You must follow your heart in this matter. If you feel happy and peaceful listening to Shri Sai Satcharitra while driving, you must continue it. But, if you feel an urge to read it also, so you must do that. Since Baba resides in our hearts, He guides each devottee in the way that befits his/her stage of evolution on the spiritual path.  If you listen to that small still voice in your inner being, you will get an answer to your dilemma.

Having said that, I think that the emphasis on reading Shri Sai Satcharitra has been laid for the following reasons. In the process of reading, our mind and senses get focused on the text and our attention is fully concentrated on it. During the process of just listening to SSC, we may get distracted by other senses that are involved in other tasks. For instance, while driving your eyes are on the road, your body focused on controlling the vehicle, and your mind divided between these various tasks. In order to avoid distractions, we are advised to read Shri Sai Satcharitra in one sitting. But, that does not mean that someone can not listen to it at other times or read it in breaks. Baba's path is very liberal, so we have no hard and fast rules and regulations in it. Just do what gives you happiness and peace. Hope my humble thoughts help you in some way. May Baba bless you.

I admire your intelligence and am surprised at this leela of Sai. Here is my answer to your question: 'drashta' was born a few days after I left this forum some months back. After being on this temple for three years, I left it following an unpleasant incident among some fellow devotees. Though I meant to return at some later date, I was not keen on retaining my old name. Names carry too much baggage, and people perceive you in a particular way going by those names or the labels they carry. So, I changed my name to serve this temple as an ordinary devotee. I was happy in my new identity and the service I was rendering to Baba through my posts. But, He had other plans. Recently, when drashta's posts were deleted by some moderator, Baba inspired me to return to this forum under my old name. Only Baba knows the reason behind the recent experience of drashta, and the return of saiservant to this forum. His ways are mysterious, and He is the sole wirepuller in the lives of His devotees. I merely follow the commands of our Master.

Mind uses  sense organs to propel thoughts. Hearing, Sight, touch and Speech are Powerful and easy gateways for the mind to gain control and Smell the least in any reasonable environment. There should be no difference in using any of the powerful gateways towards Sai as long as there is Love.
For people new to Meditations who want to go full throttle
1. see his picture/idol
2. Smell his incense/Flower
3. Use the Rosary (Touch)
4. Recite Aloud (Speech and hearing)
5. When you are done Taste his Prasad (Food)

Dear Ravi Bhai, thanks much for your thoughtful note. Please don't worry about my deleted posts. It was all a part of Baba's plan, His amazing leela. Mr. Ganesh, I would like to remind you that in Shree SAI SATCHARITRA, author himself says that please give your ears to me, that means listening attentively is as eqaul as reading attentively.

Our SHREE SAI BABA use to narrate stories and incidents and people listen to it carefully and were blessed and found their answers in it.

When you are listening it while driving, means during that time you are under special care of SHREE SAI BABA and in a way you secure your life as well as people on the road, cause you will not face an accident even if it is mistake of other driver. Your activity can be a inspiration to other SHREE SAI BABA devotees who may be passing time by listening music while driving. You are getting full effects of reading the SAI SATCHARITRA while you listen to it.

i maybe a little too young to advice u on it, but i sincerely and earnestly believe that it doesnt matter whether we read the Satcharitha ourselves or we hear a recitation of it by others, all that matters and is wanted on our part is total surrender and whole hearted love, faith and devotion to Baba. As long as we realise the values imparted by each and every word of the Satcharitha, it doesnt matter how we read or hear them Baba bless us all. Om sai ram
