Shirdi Sai Baba Temple, Second Richest in Country

KOPARGAON: The famous Shirdi Sai Baba shrine in Maharashtra has become the second richest in the country in terms of income after the Balaji temple in Tirupati, trustees said on Friday.

The temple has collected Rs 81 crore in cash, 920 kgs of gold and 440 kgs of silver in the form of donations during 2008, creating a record, Ashok Khambekar, a trustee of Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust, said.

The temple also collected a record amount of close to Rs four crore and fifteen lakh in its cash donation box between December 29, 2008 and January six, 2009, Khambekar said.

During 2007, about 104 kgs of gold, 235 kgs of silver and Rs 60 crore in cash was received by the temple through donations, he said.

The trust, which was formed in 1992, has an annual budget of Rs 200 crore which is used for development works such as construction of hospitals, new buildings and roads in and around Shirdi, Khambekar said adding a super speciality hospital and a 'prasadalaya' (dining hall) had already been constructed.

It is very happy to know about the donations and all but on the other hand it is really strange that even after collecting so many donations, the accommodations are always full and there is no huge complex with around 1000 rooms (as far as I know). Darshan wise there are no complaints though .

It's good to see that people really opened their hearts while donating to Sai baba, but it's painful to see the money is not at all utilized. Anyone can clearly notice that Sansthan is not able to utilize the money. While millions of rupess are already there, I see no point in donating to Sai Baba temple again as even that donation will go as waste.

People must understand that SAI Baba Sansthan is not SAI BABA. because of the poor managemnet Sansthan is not able to utilize it.

They must learn from Sathya Sai Baba Sansthan. Sathya Sai Sansthan is running thousand of things which are useful for a common man.

So next time when you donate to Shirdi Sansthan, please keep in mind, it will be added to another pile of money and will not be utilized. Better try to find out a way to help someone with that money.

I totally agree with you.
The amount of services and the oppurtunity given at Satya Saibaba Sansthan is amazing.
So many NRI's who go from from here, are always having a good stay and they make it a habit to go every year.
Maybe very soon we may also get such kind in Shirdi Sansthan.
