NINE THURSDAY FAST CONCEPT ..Did Sai approve it??

Om Sai Ram Dear Sai Devottes,

Please read this story which I took from  Shree Sai Satcharitra chapter-32  ,

Once Mrs. Gokhale ( a devotee of sai )came to Shirdi , she came to Baba with a determination to sit at baba’s feet and
observe a three day fast . The previous day ( a day before she came) Baba said to Dada Kelkar (An other devoee of
Sai)  that he would not allow his children  to starve (fasting) during the festival “Holi”.  If they ( his devotee) have to
starve ,than why was he  there?   { we can see here,Omnipresence of Sai , that he was fully aware about her fasting
decision, before she came to him }

Next day when the woman came to Shirdi and sat at Baba’s feet , baba at once said to her- “ Where is the
necessity of fasting? Go to Dadabhat’s house and prepare the Poranpolis ( A dish ) feed his children and yourself
too ..Then Mrs Gokhale had to go to Dadabhat’s house and prepare the dish ,than fed others and herself..

This way Sai Disapproved her fast..

Baba never fasted Himself , nor did he allow others to do so , The mind of person who fast is never at ease, than how
could he attain his goal of life ? God is not attained on an empty stomach and nutritions With what eyes should we
see the God , with what tongue should we describe his greatness ,and with what ears should we hear the same?

In short , when all our organs get their proper nutrition and are sound, we can precise devotion and other Sadhnas
to attend God.

I mentioned above  story from SST , because, for many days I have been seeing ,many devotees are doing  Nine
Thursday Sai Vrat ,with this hope that they would get their desired things ( like love ,Job etc)  after completing the fast.

 I have been wondering and eagerly want to know that ,where this Nine Thursday fast concept came from ?? 

 Sai never supported  the fast , and if we called our self  Sai devotee than why we are doing such thing, when  Sai
himself  disapproved it .  Are we not hurting Sai ,by doing this ?? 

It made me remind a movie “OMG-Oh My God” which I recently watched on TV , where a guy who was totally against
self-proclaimed GOD (GODMAN ) , but when he was in “comma” ,during this period ,people made him GOD and started
his worship ....Are we not doing the same thing??   

Here my intention is not to hurt anyone , specially those , who has already started Sai Thursday  fast  or about to
complete their  9 Thursday fast , they must complete  their fast.

I just want to aware those Sai devotees, who recently added  in Forum and also want to start the same  fast  for
hoping  their desired things get only with in 2/3 month ( 9 Thursday)   , If it was this much easy to get desired things
in 2/3 months, than everyone could have got their desired things till now. (Here  I am not doubting on Sai miracles ,
nothing is impossible to Sai )

 But,Getting your desired things is depend on your dedication and passion towards that things which you want to get 
, more than Fast   , Babaji used to say – My treasury is full and I can give anyone, what he wants but I have to see,
whether he is qualified to receive My gift.

So , keep faith on Sai and patience ,

Keep faith, that whatever   Sai is doing , doing good for you , and one day you are going to get your desired things ,if
you are really capable to get it , but in the meantime, you  will have to keep  patience  without losing your faith on him
.Do help poor and needy , provide  food to hungry , get hurt yourself but don't be reason of others hurting, try to
make yourself more capable And show to Sai that you are his real follower  and you fully deserve what you want ..

Do your karmas with full dedication and rest leave on Sai ,Let Him decide for you ...

Dear Saialwayshere,

I totally agree with you that baba never supported fasting. He always said to help the poor. What i feel is most of the devotees do fasting for their satisfication and to get close to baba. I am not an exceptional. I feel more connected to him when i fast and i wait for thursdays so that i can do pooja to him and even temple looks so beautiful on thursdays. Trust me, When i start my fast on thursdays, i never feel hungry on that day nor i feel tierd. I work whole day with full energy,daily i travel around 3 hrs (to and fro) to reach office, mostly by standing in the bus, i return home by 8 then i start cooking and i have my dinner by 10. Till that time i never feel hungry. I call this as miracle

When baba came in my life the first thing i was told was " Leave all your burden to him and do 9 thursdays vrat, he will solve all your issues". I started to fast to get married to my love. Though that didnt happen till now, he solved  many issues in my life. I completed my fast last week. Everyday i read through blogs about  how sai fullfilled one's desire before completing the fast. I have been questioning baba that Why he is partial to me but at the same time  i use to console myself that may be he has some plans for me. Its all about how we see and believe in him. All above how strong you hold to him.

When i read your post, its like reading my own thoughts. I felt like baba gave answer to my questions through your post. Especially this
