With an aim to tap the higher middle class, foreigners and leisure travelers,
the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), plans to operate the
Air-conditioned Luxury Train 'Deccan Odyssey' on the Mumbai to Shirdi route from October`2014.

This Train, a culmination of efforts of Indian Railways and Maharashtra Government,
not only serves as a great tourist train, but also operates as a mobile five-star hotel
and can accommodate a total of 84 passengers at a time.

It is going to start off with 2 different Tour's:
1) Soul Quest Journey: Mumbai-Shirdi-Mumbai
2) Spiritual Sahyadari Journey: Mumbai-Nashik-Shirdi-Mumbai

This decision, first taken in 2011, was welcomed by the Shirdi Sai Baba Sansthan,
but they too were skeptical with the feasibility of this tour, as regards to
the steep fare per passenger for a round trip because of which it didn’t garner
enough positive feedback from passengers, and thus, was put on hold.

"Here is the Engineer-Driver....
yOu need Only tO attach the bOgies tO the Engine.
The rest Of the jOb will be dOne by the Engineer-Driver.
There is nOt the least dOubt abOut it.

HE will take everyOne tO the desired DestinatiOn.
But then, tO see that the bOgies dO nOt get Derailed,
the Track has tO be made firm by Ballast.
Such ballast will be yOur Own ‘Vairagya’ & ‘Shudh Bhavana’.

OccasiOnally, there is a steep ascent On the Track
and the Onward mOtiOn will naturally gO SlOw.
But there is nOthing tO despair.
Ultimately the Engineer-Driver will surely pull up
the attached bOgies & take it tO its ‘Great DestinatiOn’ !"
