Post by: saibetino1 on March 28, 2007, 01:39:27 AM
Om Sai Ram Om Sai Ram,

         Sai Ram To all

PLs don't convert this MAHA UNION INTO COMPETITION , this is just a grp of devotess , those who believe in SAI BABA  n want to spend  their  time with him . SO , try to make healthy n broad mind grp , don't say which grp or city  is leading .

If we will start comparision or competition , it won't hurt anyone else excpet our god SAI MAA , 'coz Our Sai wants only love not any comparision or competition in between us .
Everyone has their own  way to pray n to devote himself in front of god .

It is SAI wish tht we started this MAHA UNION ...... so pls.... don't take it as a compettion.

OM SHRI SAI RAM.

We need to take this happening in a positive way and Thanks SAI for this gathering.

Actually its FAITH and DEVOTION of BABA that is pulling Sai Devotees for MAHA UNION.

Its because of SAI WILL that this is happening.HE is the doer and enjoyer.

MAHA UNION is need of the hour for the SAI Devotee to share love and experience of BABA so that their Faith and Devotion become stronger at the LOTUS FEETS OF BABA.

One light, lights another light.

SAI NATH MAHARAJ KI JAI.

Neelamji Sairam
first of my thanks for making this meeting happen. And we accept your advice on the competition / comparision. Definitely, lord Sai will not like this.

Extract from SSC: The story of the Rohilla illustrates Sai Baba’s all embracing love. One Rohilla, tall and well built, strong as a bull, came to Shirdi, wearing a long Kafni (robe) and was enamoured of Sai who stayed there. Day and night he used to recite in a loud and harsh tone Kalma (verses from Holy Koran) and shout "ALLAH HO AKBAR" (God is Great). Most people of Shirdi were working in their fields by day and when they returned to their homes at night, they were welcomed with the Rohilla’s harsh cries and shouts. They could get no sleep and felt much trouble and inconvenience. They suffered in silence this nuisance for some days, and when they could stand it no longer, they approached Baba, and requested Him to check the Rohilla and stop the nuisance. Baba did not attend to their complaint. On the contrary, Baba took the villagers to task, and asked them to mind their own business, and not the Rohilla. He said to them that the Rohilla had got a very bad wife, a Zantippi, who tried to come in and trouble the Rohilla and Himself; but hearing the Rohilla’s prayers, she dare not enter and they were at peace and happy. In fact, the Rohilla had no wife and by his wife Baba meant DURBUDDHI, i.e. bad thoughts. As Baba liked prayers and cries to God better than anything else, He took the side of the Rohilla, and asked the villagers to wait and suffer the nuisance, which would abate in due course.

Thanks for the advise again. We will remember that competition is a double edged sword which can cut two ways. A competition has both positives and negatives. And spiritual competition is with the self only. I need to compete with myself and better myself. I need to surrender my ego to lord sai who is in me.

Om Sai Ram

Dear All Sai Blessed Devotees,

Sai Baba is here, there and everywhere and likewise his devotees. So It is not a matter how many devotees are in a city. It is not possible to get number of sai devotees in the world like anant Sai Mahima. So what we need is that this heavenly platform has been developed by the sai devotees with the blessings of sai. I hope that in this our dream home we are able to get resolved sukh dukh of each other. So all let us pray Baba to bless his every devotee in the universe and even if one take his name he too.

Dear Sister Neelam,

There is a lot of difference between brotherly / sisterly competition and  comparison  with jealousy. It is always good to take inspiration from people who are already there or moving towards where you want to go in life. I can assure and affirm on behalf of all Sai Bandhus that they are not  narrow minded and jealous.Healthy competition is always a positive attitude.

Just to explain  with a simple example.

In any house if you consider a brother and sister or two brothers, one sibling takes inspiration from the other to do better in studies, moral conduct or in  any other matter.Every sibling wants to become the favourite of the parents and works towards that end. Each of the sibling wants to excel. One sibling's achievement becomes the benchmark for the other. This is a very healthy competition and truly positive.Imagine if there are no benchmarks to compete, then what will happen to the development of a  child to a person. How his/her character and integrity is built.

Just wanted to talk my views about competition. No offence meant to anyone

Dear Babaji,

You know my heart  and thought process very well. You also know all SaiBandhu's passionate love towards you. Please bless the Maha Union to be a mega success.

Dear Kavitaji, Rajji, Neelamji Sairam
Baba bless us all !
Dear all, first of all, there is no room for competition, the word or it's likes in this mandir. Baba is very  much capable of assessing the devotion and the actions of the devotees. As each finger of a hand are different so are devotees and their devotions.

Please go through my following views on competition:
1. Competition is good as long as it has positive effect
2. Competition though started on positive note gradually takes negative tones and this is not because of the "competition" itself but because of the humans involved
This is based on  so many such events, contests, games, elections happening. I donot have to cite these examples.
3. Spirituality has no room for "competition" in the true form. Here competition is with oneself, I try to compete with myself to be better and better. So in other words, it is advancement rather than competition. Even during Lord Sai's period there were so many other saints and they all worked in unison. This is evident from various narrations in SSC and other books. (Tembe Sami, Appaji, G.Maharaj etc). They never worked in the "competitive" mode.

When Raj bhai initially conveyed his best wishes to the chennaites it was more in his happiness and as true to his nature, to encourage devotion and well being amongst us.. The "chennaites" was more a mode of address rather than creating a team or group.

So Lets all desist from using the word competition.

And forgive me if I hurt any of your feelings.

Following extract shall explain how baba took care of things in his unique manner :

Anna Chinchanikar vs. Mavsibai
Hemadpant, now describes another witty incident, in which Baba played a peace-maker's part. There was one devotee by name Damodar Ghanashyama Babare alias Anna Chinchanikar. He was simple, rough and straightforward. He cared for nobody, always spoke plainly and carried all dealings in cash. Though he looked outwardly harsh and uncompromising, he was good natured and guileless. So Sai Baba loved him. One day, like others serving Baba in their own way, this Anna was, one noon standing prone and was shampooing the left arm of Baba, which rested on the kathada (railing). On the right side, one old widow named Venubai Koujalgi whom Baba called mother and all others Mavsibai, was serving Baba in her own way. This Mavsibai was an elderly woman of pure heart. She clasped the fingers of both her hands round the trunk of Baba and was at this time kneading Baba's abdomen. She did this so forcibly that Baba's back and abdomen became flat (one) and Baba moved from side to side. Anna on the other side was steady, but Mavsibai's face moved up and down with her strokes. Once it so happened that her face came very close to Anna's. Being of a witty disposition she remarked - "Oh, this Anna is a lewd (bad) fellow, he wants to kiss me. Even being so old with grey hair he feels no shame in kissing me." These words enraged Anna and he pulled up his sleeves and said - "You say that I am an old bad fellow, am I quite a fool? It is you that have picked up a quarrel and are quarreling with me". All the persons, present there were enjoying this encounter between them. Baba Who loved both of them equally and wanted to pacify them, managed the affair very skillfully. Lovingly He said - "Oh Anna, why are you unnecessarily raising this hue and cry? I do not understand what harm or impropriety is there, when the mother is kissed?" Hearing these words of Baba, both of them were satisfied and all the persons laughed merrily and enjoyed Baba's wit to their heart's content.
Baba's Characteristics -- His Dependency on Bhaktas
Baba allowed His devotees to serve Him in their own way, and did not like any other persons interfering in this. To quote an instance, the same Mavsibai was on another occasion, kneading Baba's abdomen. Seeing the fury and force used by her, all the other devotees felt nervous and anxious. They said, "Oh mother, be more considerate and moderate, otherwise you will break Baba's arteries and nerves". At this Baba got up at once from His seat, dashed His satka on the ground. He got enraged and His eyes became red like a live charcoal. None dared to stand before or face Baba. Then He took hold of one end of the Satka with both hands and pressed it in the hollow of his abdomen. The other end He fixed to the post and began to press His abdomen against it. The satka which was about two or three feet in length seemed all to go into the abdomen and the people feared that the abdomen would be ruptured in a short time. The post was fixed and immovable and Baba began to go closer and closer to it and clasped the post firmly. Every moment the rupture was expected, and they were all dismayed, did not know what to do, and stood dumb with wonder and fear. Baba suffered this ordeal for the sake of His Bhakta. The other devotees wanted only to give a hint to the Mavsibai to be moderate in her service and not cause any trouble or pain to Baba. This they did with good intention, but Baba did not brook even this. They were surprised to see that their well-intentioned effort had resulted in this catastrophe; and they could do nothing but to wait and see. Fortunately, Baba's rage soon cooled down. He left the satka and resumed His seat. From this time onward, the devotees took the lesson that they should not meddle with anybody but allow him to serve Baba as the chooses, as He was capable to gauge the merits and worth of the service rendered unto Him.
Bow to Shri Sai - Peace be to all

Dear all Sairam
Please correct me if I am wrong. Baba speaks through the members. This is the reason we gain spiritual benefit. So lets not edify each other. Let's ever thank baba. And those who unknowingly err, lets pray to our Lord Sai and forgive.

OM SRI SAI RAM

Thammudu, Sai Ram!

I am feeling very happy to see the positive thoughts that are being expressed by you, Raj Bhai this morning.

First of all, I thank Raj Bhai for his post which is  followed by yours with SSC excerpts.

We should make the essence of SSC our way of life. Infact that is the very purpose of SSC Parayana.

I Feel, Baba has started teaching us right from the planning stage it self before the commencement of our meeting it self.

I can compare this with the incident Hemadpant ji had experienced (SSC) in context to Upadesh.

Thanks Baba! You make us learn many from each and every incident.

Baba bless us all
Baba be with us all

Dear Suresh Bhai,

You have rightly said that we have to compete with ourselves to become better and better. To know what is better we need to know where we need to improve. To know where we need to improve we need to  take inspiration from somebody's work. To  take inspiration we need to shed our ego.Once when we shed our ego ,there is no question of any negetive tones.
