Dear fellow devotees,
As I look around this Forum, I see sad, suffering and anxious souls, in the midst of many of life’s travails, problems and desperately praying for divine help. A few get what they sought but many others often don’t. Some wait for an eternity for good things to happen but they don’t.
Even for those who get answers, there are some who wonder why it took so long for Bhagwan Sai to give you what you asked for. Some question if Sai is really listening to their appeals. I was one of those people in the past, extremely impatient for good things to happen… It is hard to be patient in the midst of calamities but that is where your Faith is tested. Yes, Sai tests ALL of His devotees before he answers their prayers.
Before you contemplate this issue:
Please remember that Divine Blessings are a privilege earned with sustained faith and belief. We must deserve what we seek. There is no time frame for God to give out boons. One must also know WHAT to ask of Sai. His “khajaana” (treasury) is open to everyone but one has to know WHAT to take from there. That is where the answers and solutions to all your problems will be.
I have always opined that if one seeks to understand Sai and what HE really is, then one must read Sri Guru Charitra. The misery of this Kaliyuga is fully explained in the opening chapters of SGC. The tragedies of the times (war, terrorism, disease, greed, poverty) are all prophesied in GC. The most-important insight of GC is that salvation in Kaliyuga is best obtained via a Sadguru, not by vratams, sacrifices or rituals. Other yugas are associated with bhakti, karma, jnana and vairagya modes of reaching God; but the Path of Sadguru is the only one specified for Kaliyuga.
The next time you pray to any God of your choice don't ask for frivolous things, like a job or car or kids or passing an exam. ASK FOR SADGURU'S GRACE. That is the ONLY thing that can help you face this challenge of existence.
Sai is Dattatreya. Period. So, no matter how difficult life is, just chant a few times a day: 'Jai Gurudeva Datta' or “Om Dattatreyaya Namah” and ask not for mundane stuff but for His Grace. Still not convinced? Read Sri Guru Charitra once. You will know what I mean.
Best Wishes,
= Sriram
