  • I don’t like to start it all over again, but I just want to express my views. Baba himself encouraged the chit method. In one of the chapters of satcharitra when shama ji was not ready to accept the golden embroidered shawl then it was the chit method which helped him. Hence does that mean that he doesn’t believe baba and doubted him? Yes not only with the chit method, baba talks to us with so many sources. There are some lakhs of people who follow so many methods, to get answers from baba or rather to talk to baba. It is everyone’s belief. Keeping full control of mind and body is only possible for people with very higher spiritual level. We are all just human beings. Let me give one example.

In a village there were two brothers. One was a staunch believer of god and the other one also believed in god and was hard working too. One day their father gave them one sack full of rice grains and asked each of them to make it flour by evening. As the 2nd son was hard working he was done with his work by evening. The 1st son being an ardent follower of god prayed god as follows “god as I have to meditate your name day and night, I have some work to do today. Please do my work and change the rice to flour by evening. Meanwhile I chant your name continuously” but to his astonishment the rice grains remained the same till evening.

His faith upon god might or might not be true. But in this generation and in these days it may be impossible to get full control of our mind and taking each and everything in a positive way. It’s only possible by practice. And practice always starts from day 1 and at that time we are just a learner. One or the other day, man has to come across fear and anxiety and there is no wrong in using a source at that time which connects god to us. In fact that is the reason we come to dwarakamai every day.

I was also of the opinion that a higher spiritual level reached only over a period of time, In days when a small thing doesn't happen people question whether BABA is even there are not. Great you took the initaive to share your opinion thanks to BABA for giving me an answer through you.

You need to encourage devotees with less strength / have lot of problems on their head to slowly adopt methods whichever suits them to realise BABA's presence.

    Thanks GAYATHRI ji once again.

    Dear All Sairam

Forgive me and correct me if I am wrong !
Discussions are meant to enlighten because in the process exchange of information occurs. But discussions with ego and vanity as the motivation factor is detrimental in one's growth since the same shall occur in a way that we speak / argue / make a point with our ears and minds closed. So whenever we want to say something contradictory let's first put forth an humble apology so that the reader reads our message with an open mind. And if any hurt feelings occur, lets be spontaneous in our apologies. After all, we are here at Sai's mandir where our Lord Sai himself denotes humility.
We compete in our spiritual upliftment and the competition is between I and we, the heart and the soul, the good and the bad within one's self.

  • OM SRI SAI RAM

    Dear All, Sai Ram

I have been following this topic very interestingly since I too believe in the chit method.

When I face certain things or unable to decide upon any problem, I would go to Baba's photo and narrate him the problem as though I am talking to any other person in the family and I feel relieved - a feeling that the problem is no more mine and transfered to Baba. So there ends the problem for me.

But, when a serious problem crops up, and I am totally disturbed and unable to decide on the available options, especially when the available options are equally good or equally bad, which one to choose ?

Then I follow this chit method - YES and NO and just stick to whatever comes, even if it appears more negative. I follow it since Baba told me to do. Thats it. No need to bother or even think or analyse the result or feel that had I followed the other option..... etc.

If it turns out a loss, does not matter for, the other option should have definitely landed me in a much severe loss than the one chosen by Baba for me. It is as simple as that.

Thus, I feel the chit method enhances our faith in Baba. It shows how strong our faith is in Baba. Becoz we are just following without applying any reasoning / logic.

However, just like the question and answer Book, this is also not a child game or a fun game. The chit method is just like a guide - Baba himself showing us a way in the most difficult situation where, we are unable to apply our own intelligence.

This is a situation where a devotee prays Baba with tearful eyes and devotion filled heart for a solution having not able to decide on her/his own with her/his then intelligence levels.

Tell me whether any one depends on the decision through a chit alone under any ordinary circumstances (leaving the Baba and devotion aside)?

It is the strength of our faith that makes us stick to the decision of the Baba through Chit.

It is beyond any doubt and needs a lot of faith in Baba. Yes, we may not have confidence in the future made by our own selves. But, through chit, we believe the future as the prasad of Baba. What else is needed ?

Once the devotee uplifts himself/herself by offering the two pice that Baba wants from him/her,  he/she feels that divinity in herself/himself and thus at that stage, the necessity of chit etc. does not arise for, the devotee knows Baba himself sitting in his heart and he/she is no different from Baba.

    Baba bless us all
    Baba be our guide always
    Baba be with us all

    Jai Sai Ram

  • Hi Keerti ( i hope i can call u by ur name, or sud i suffix JI, TOO?? AS U SAY. ???)

If i hurt you tons of sorry to u. plz forgive me, i u have been hurt by n e of my gestures :

after reading sureshji's view, i think i sud talk in a serious tone, and apologise each time i talk to n e one. BCOZ AM GETTING CONFUSED ALL OVER AGAINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN ::) ::) ::) ::)

do i need to apologise, even if i am not contradicting n e ones view?? plz, lets not be so strict abt all these  and  make rules for it. ???

i mean, if unless u r not attacked on personal front, its perfectly ok for others to express their views, whether its pro aur anti-topic..

apologising each time, will itself mar ONE OF THE PURPOSE of this forum, i.e to express freely abt the feelings and wishes to baba.

my head is going round and round.....am ending up being more confused. ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

I WILL BE MY ORIGINAL SELF, WHETHER N E ONE LIKES IT OR NOT :D :D

AND YES, KEERTI JI, AT LAST I FOUND AIR, BUT WHETHER HE  IS BHAI SAHAAB AUR BHENJI, WOH TO BAAD MEIN H  PATAA CHALEGA

  • Any method is subjective and when done with firm conviction yields great results. So instead 'your preferences' versus mine, I'd like elucidate briefly the powers of mind.
All great philosophers in the world agree on one thing. All things happened from one source and its intelligence and all things continue to evolve from that single source. You can call this source God. Everything is made up of God. So is your Mind. Mind has miraculous powers that can cure an incurable disease and can make miracles and can cut business deals.

Most of the times in life we think we fight against circumstances like poverty, ill-luck, bad relationships, loss of money etc. We only fight and lose to the resistance within us which springs from our upbringing and other negative thoughts or limitations in our belief scales.

If you get accustomed to being a receiver and condition it to your mind you need not resort to chits at all for anything irrespective of criticalness in decision making.

Key words to remember are Total Surrender, Faith, and Patience.
A chit method has its own disadvantages – you force baba to give an answer in an either or format. Who are we to force baba to choose one among the two choices which we have narrowed down? Keep an open mind, narrate your problem once to baba. Just once. Turn your focus inward and ask baba to give an answer. Send out prayers with utter faith. The answer will manifest in your mind. Baba will speak to you directly or it might come as an intuition. Here the choice is Baba's and not the two that you have narrowed down with your analytical mind. If you don't get an answer in one day, Wait. It means the circumstances are unsuitable to continue what you want to do.

Some common misconceptions are this works only for advanced devotees. No. To baba, a shama and some XYZ are the same because both are his children. What separates Shama from Mr.XYZ is Shama has enough experiences to testify his faith unlike XYZ.
Anyone can be a receiver when he has faith irrespective of his spiritual background, he or she needs to shed their resistance through negative beliefs that I will not get an answer.

Ask and it shall be given, knock it shall be open. God is least interested in judging anyone, when you trust him irrespective of your Karmic state in life you get answers.
    All in my humble opinion.

PS: I've used the chit method only once in life and am glad i never used it again. It is helping me walk baby steps in the journey of Faith.

Past and Future exist in the Mind. Present is the Only Reality. Mind loves habitual waiting to deny the present. Meditation helps one merge with Nature. One no longer feels Separate from the Whole. It is easy to live with the whole than against it.
Regular Meditation suppresses unwanted thoughts and strengthens the Mind. A less noisy mind is so near to God.
