The Full Moon Day in the month of Ashadha (July-August) is known as Guru Purnima.
This sacred day marks the very first transmission of the yogic sciences from
Shiva – the Adiyogi or First Yogi – to the Saptarishis, the seven celebrated sages.
This momentous occasion took place on the banks of the lake Kantisarovar,
which stands a few kilometers above the Kedarnath Temple in the Himalayas.
Thus, the Adiyogi became the Adi Guru or the First Guru on this day. The
Saptarishis carried this knowing offered by Adiyogi throughout the world.
Even today, every spiritual process on the planet draws from the spine of
knowing created by Adiyogi.

In this culture, Guru Purnima was always recognized and celebrated as the
day when new possibilities opened up for the human race. But those that
ruled this country in the last 300 years had their own plans; they saw that
as long as people are spiritually rooted and strong, you cannot rule them.
Why isn’t Guru Purnima a holiday? Why should Sunday be a holiday?
What are you doing on a Sunday? Eating potato chips and watching television?
You do not even know what to do! But if there is a holiday on a full moon day
or new moon day, we know what to do. It is time that a holiday is a day that is
significant for us. At least, Guru Purnima should be a holiday, so that people know
the significance of it. When such a phenomenon got involved with the human
creature, it should not go to waste.

“Guru Purnima marks one of the greatest moments in the life of humanity.
This is a day that is reminiscent of Adiyogi opening up and offering the
possibility that a human being can evolve beyond all limitations set by his
physical nature, if willing to strive. This first full moon day after the solstice
is a time when this planet and all life upon it are most receptive to the cosmic
energy and possibilities. The next six months till the winter solstice is the
best time to strive for evolving and experiencing the divine possibility that is
innate in a human being.” - Sadhguru

Saibaba always taught importance of Guru
in one"s Spiritual ( Sadhana ) path .

Baba said that Guru will always give complete
protection to those who put their Faith in him
in return the disciple has to offer his complete
surrender , loyalty and obedience .

Once in Shirdi when someone asked about the
spiritual way .... Baba said there are many ways
leading us to the Divine destination but ....... there are
tigers and wolves in the jungles on the way .

kakasaheb asked ... But if we take help of Guru as guide
Baba answered ....... Then there will be no difficulty
the Guru will take you to destination by avoiding
the tigers and wolves on the way .

Great avtaars ....Lord Rama and Lord Krishna also
submitted themselves to Guru Vashistha and Sandipini
respectively .

Saibaba also graced the devotees by saying ........ " DO NOT
GRIEVE WHEN MY BODY PASSES AWAY , MY TOMB
WILL LIVE AND MOVE AND SPEAK WITH ALL THOSE
WHO MAKE ME THEIR SOLE REFUGEE .

Saibaba also used to say that first step of Spirituality is
....... Realizing " YOU " and " I " are one . Baba said
surrender completely to me and follow
what I teach with Shradha & Saburi .

This marked the Eve of Guru Poornima at Shirdi
Those of us who have committed some sins knowingly
or unknowingly .... if he/she takes refugee at the holy feet
of Guru than all his/her sins will be washed away
by grace of Guru .

Let us all surrender ourselves at holy feet of our
Guru/Sadguru with full Faith and devotion in his holy being
I HUMBLY BOW TO GURU/SADGURU SAINATH .
