GOOD NEWS for Shirdi's Ladoo Prasad lovers: From 15th August`2013, the Shirdi Sai Baba Sansthan has started
to distribute free Ladoo Prasad packets to all devotees visiting the Shirdi Shrine.
This decision was taken with after due permission of the Bombay High Court.
Every devotee will be given 1 FREE packet of 2 Ladoo's weighing 100 gms.
These Packets will be distributed to the devotees standing in the Darshan Queue only.
For any extra prasad packet over and above the free one given, the devotee will have
to purchase it separately from the Ladoo prasad counter of the Temple complex.
These prasad packets of 3 Ladoo's weighing 150 gms, will be sold at the prasad counter
at Rs.20/- per packet, instead of the normal Rs.10/- per packet.
With around 50,000 devotees visiting Shirdi each day,
the Trust will require around 2 lakh Ladoo's daily and over 2.25 crore each year.
On weekends, the footfall easily crosses one lakh and during festivals it swells upto 4 Lakh.
Thus, this free prasad scheme is expected to cost the Shirdi Sansthan approx. Rs.15 crore annually.
The actual cost of making 1 Ladoo is Rs.5.95/- taking the cost of per packet of 3 Ladoo's to approx.Rs.18/-,
which since its inception in 1993, was being sold by the Shirdi Trust at a subsidized rate of Rs.10/-.
Thus the Trust spent Rs.13 crores annually on making these Ladoo's,
while it earned approx.Rs.20 crore per year by their sales.
And now with the cost of the Ladoo Packets consisting of 3 Ladoo's each has gone up to Rs.20/-
from the earlier Rs.10/-, the Shirdi Trust is said to make approx.Rs.40 crore each year
while spending Rs.15 crore on distributing Free Ladoo's to the devotees in the Darshan Queue.
The distribution of free Ladoo's has been widely welcomed.
This will make SSST the first temple Trust in the country to provide free prasad to all devotees.
To be noted that during the 3-day Gurupurnima Utsav`2013,
there was a record sale of these prasad Ladoo's which were being sold
for Rs.8/- per packet of 3 Ladoo's instead of the normal Rs.10/- per packet,
earning the Sansthan Rs.25 lakhs, as more than 1 lakh packets were sold each day.
