- TRAVEL BILL REIMBURSEMENT SCAM HITS SHIRDI SANSTHAN TRUST -

For meetings / Official work, the Trustees of the Shri Sai Baba Sansthan Trust`Shirdi have to regularly travel to places
for which, apart from the 20 odd Cars owned by the Shirdi Sansthan Trust, the Trustees are allowed to rent a car also.
In doing so, the travel expenses incurred are then later reimbursed to the trustees by the Shirdi Sansthan Trust.

But now a 'Travel Bill Reimbursement Scam' of the Shri Sai Baba Sansthan Trust`Shirdi has come to light.
Using the RTI (Right To Information) Act, Shri.Sanjay Kale, an RTI activist sought the Travel Expenses information
of 4 of the total 17 trustees and found that the Travel Bill expenses of just these 4 Trustees in the past 8 years
was around Rs.6 lakhs which they had falsely claimed from the Shirdi Sai Baba Sansthan.

As evidence, Shri.Sanjay Kale has collected the copies of their Travel Bills & the Registration Certificate of the vehicles used by them.
These copies clearly show the Date of Travel, Used Vehicles Number, Kilometers Traveled and the Amount Claimed as reimbursement.

From the RTO (Regional Transport Office) Shri.Kale found that the Vehicle Numbers mentioned on these Bills were not of Cars
as specified by the Sansthan's rules but were of someone's Motorcycles, Scooters, Truck, Company & Govt Cars.
Citing the registration numbers of these vehicles the Trustees traveled thousands of kilometers for official/personal work
and later claimed an Reimbursement calculated @ Rs.7/- to Rs.8/- per Kilometer.
Whereas according to the rules of the Shirdi Sansthan Trust the Trustees can claim only Rs.4/- per Kilometer
while traveling for any Official work and that even by Cars like Innova, Scorpio or Xylo only.

In its investigations NDTV news also found that the Actual Owners of the Vehicles mentioned by the Trustees in their Bill,
were also not aware about any of this. So, why do the Trustees prefer taking rented cars for long distance travels
 when the Sansthan itself owns 20 Cars.

The Sansthan also took special Registration Numbers for 5 Cars @ Rs.10,000/- for each Car Number
and the Bill was paid from the donations received by the Sansthan from devotees.
This expense was not shown officially in the donation slip book.

Shri.Sanjay Kale also plans to use the RTI act to find out the Travel Bill claims made by the remaining Trustees also,
because if the Travel expenses Claims of just these 4 Trustees is so much then it has to be seen as to how much
will it all add up to when the details of the claims made by the remaining Trustees also comes forward.

For the time being, Shri.Sanjay Kale, taking Legal Action against these Trustees,
has filed a complaint in the Court of Judicial magistrate (first class) S D Kamath at Rahata.
 He said that there was no need to seek prior permission for filing the case against the trustees of the Temple.
The complaint has been filed under the sections dealing with preparing bogus documents & indulging
in irregularities & malpractices resulting in a total misuse of the funds donated by lakhs of devotees.

On the other hand, when the Shirdi Sansthan was questioned about this Scam, they said that
there might have been some mistake in mentioning the Vehicles Registration Numbers
and so they could only comment after investigating it further.

SCAMS & LEGAL PROBES:
- SHIRDI SAI BABA SANSTHAN IN A FIX -

On 16th Nov`2011, Shri.Sanjay Kale, an RTI activist had filed a case
with a Judicial Magistrate First Class court at Rahata, alleging that Shirdi Sansthan's four trustees,
with the help of the Sansthan's vehicle department Chief, prepared fake bills and recovered Rs 1.67 lakh
as transport allowance from the Shirdi Sansthan Trust.

On, 02nd Mar`2012, under Section 156(3) of CRPC act,
the Judicial Magistrate First Class of Maharashtra's Ahmadnagar district's Local court
directed the Shirdi police to conduct a probe & register a case against
these trustees of the Shri Sai Baba Sansthan,
who are accused of swindling funds to the tune of Rs 1.67 lakh between 2004-2007,
from the Shirdi Sansthan Charitable Trust by allegedly submitting fake travelling bills.



Also, in separate RTI investigations a News Channel found another Scam in Shirdi's Shri Sai Baba Hospital.
It was revealed that the Doctors who were operating at this Hospital for a Salary of Rs.35,000/-
were being given Incentives to the tune of Rs.50 Lakh, Rs.60 Lakh and also Rs.95 Lakh by the Shirdi Sansthan !
And due to such incentives the Doctors have been said to be operating on some poor people
who did not even need any operation !

And more than the poor patients, preference was being given to the patients who had
any influence or reference of the Shirdi Sansthan Trustees or Politicians.



Also, Sai Devotee & Social Activist Shri.Manu Gidwani, who has been long visiting Shirdi,
has several allegations against the Shirdi Sansthan Trustees regarding which he had also written several times
to the Chairman and the CEO of the Shirdi Sansthan, but till date had got no reply from any of them.

His allegations:
1) Some of the Trustees from outside Maharashtra have given forged addresses
of within Maharashtra so as to become a Trustee of Shirdi Sansthan Trust.
2) Do the Sansthan Trustees belong to the common-man or Politicians
because if Shri Anna Hazare was told by the Government to not to enter politics
then why was the Government meddling into the affairs & running of a Temple.
3) Why were Politicians made Trustees of Temples and not devotees
like the Grand Children of Mahalsapati, Laxmi Bai etc who had done true seva for Baba.
4) There are Agents in the temple who charge a fat amount from devotees for a fast and easy Darshan.
And the Amount they get is the divided amongst several people in the temple.
5) Why VIP's / devotees who come by Helicopter get Darshan ahead of the other non VIP devotees.
