Drinking Water @ 1 Paise per Litre in Shirdi

On 23rd Jan`2014, Congress Minister for Agriculture & Marketing`Maharashtra, Mr.Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil declared
that in the year 2014-2015, the Shirdi residents would be given Drinking Water @ 1 Paise per litre and that too 24 hours !
With an estimated 36 thousand tap holders in Shirdi, for which around 45 lakh litres of water is needed daily,
this decision is good news for all especially due to the fact that Shirdi and its neighboring areas have
 rarely been blessed with ample rainfall, leading to a water scarcity in the past couple of years.
But this decision of the Minister will put an additional burden of Rs.16 crore on the Shirdi Nagar Panchayat.

In a program hosted by the Shirdi Gram Panchayat to discuss the long impending development works @ Shirdi,
he said that the problems of Shirdi residents’ are expected to be resolved with the investment
of Rs.3 Crore and 53 Lakhs on various development works in Shirdi. He added that the Maharashtra Government has
been asked for an additional fund of Rs.100 Crore to provide better facilities for the devotees and Shirdi residents.

He also inaugurated various important development works @ Shirdi like:

1) The concretization of roads & installing street lights at Kalikanagar,
Bajartal Purvabaju Galli Rasta, Pawar Galli and between Dalit Vasti division no.5 & 6.
2) Under the City development works: Embankment roads in Sakuri-shiv & Ganesh Bandhara road.
3) Important Agenda's therein:
- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Business association & its premises concretization.
- Set boundary for Shirdi Nagar Panchayat.
- Tarmac the Shirdi-Pimplewadi road & Inamwadi road repairs.
- Set graveyard wall compound.
- Concretization of road where Marathi school is located.
- Street lights for Sitanagar nala road.
- Disbursement of funds received via National family financial assistance.
4) The E-services facility.
5) The 'Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojana' wherein health cards were distributed benefiting
3500 Shirdi residents. The Govt will spend up-to Rs.1.5 lakh in individual cases for their treatment.
6) To make Shirdi Slum-Free, around 350 residential plans have been approved,
of which the work on 112 residences has been almost completed within the Shirdi council limits.

Also present on this occasion were the Mayor, Deputy-Mayor,
Panchayat Samiti Speaker, Deputy Collector & other dignitaries.
