How to read Sai Satcharitra?

  • Jai Sai Ram to all the Forum Brother and Sisters,

I had been struggling within my self to get the right answer for my question, How to read Sai Satcharitra? No doubt that it needs to be read with full devotion and every part of it should not only be understood but should be applied to life as well. The big question is what are the Rituals behind reading the book? I know it is a holy book and should be read the way Ramayan and Gita are read, sitting on the floor, after taking a bath with the jot and possibly agarbati lit in front of Ram ji’s picture. Is this how everybody reads Satcharitra? May be I am doing something really wrong here. Please forgive me baba if I am treating this precious book as my favorite novel that is teaching me lesson at each and every step of life. There are times when I read it in bed before I go to sleep. There are times when I sleep with the book on my chest. There are times I read it in the car, plane or even online. Please, forgive me baba if I am doing something wrong. To me holding the book is holding you. Does it matter that where I am while I am holding you, on the floor in front of my home mandir with the jot and agarbati lit in front of your picture or in my bed where I just want to sleep with your thoughts in my mind.
Please, Sai devotees let’s discuss this thought of mine. Please, show me the right path if I am going in wrong direction and misusing the holy book. I don’t even have it covered in a piece of cloth like Ramayan and Gita would be. It is just sitting in a drawer next to my bed. Please, this no way means that I disrespect the book. I keep it close to my heart and read it wherever I want to. I take care of it and respect it as much as I respect my mom. Baba, please let me know if I am doing something wrong. Should I be following the rituals here?

    Jai Sai Ram!

Meenu, my dearest sister, sorry for being so naughty again to reply you as the one who may know least about rituals. [:I] But I strongly feel you've given the answer to your question yourself already. Rituals are something meant to help *us* - help us concentrate, shift our consciousness towards the divine, that's all. God does not need our rituals, they are a help, an instrument, a tool, not the goal. So if you say:

<<To me holding the book is holding you.>>

That's all it takes! No matter the place and time. This is the love and devotion SAI asks of us.
My dearest sister, you are blessed with a natural feeling of utter love and devotion - keep it up and let it flow ......
... it is also a blessing to us and all those around you. [:)][:)]

    Om Sai Ram

  • Meenji,

When Baba can bless a person who took 8 months to complete Satcharitra and that too reading most of the time like a story book and just before sleeping, but with respect towards BABA.
Then how can he not Bless you.
As our dear sister Astrid told rituals are some thing that we created for mantianing a discipline which is very esential for a stable life.

I appologize if I hurt some ones sentiments with what I said. For one thing is sure Baba only needs your attention and love towards him and Sathcaritra is his way to show how to pay attention on him and love him.[:)]
And Meenu ji you are just doing that. Baba will always be there with you.

    I love you Baba.
    I love you Baba.

  • Jai Sai Ram Praveen ji, Shammi ji and Astrid ji,

I want to say the same that I did not mean to hurt the feelings of others by posting this post. I was simply opening up my heart in front of Sai devotees to get their opinion. I agree with what you said Astrid ji is rituals are there so that we can create the enviornment where we can feel him easily. I am blessed to be part of this forum. I apprecite your response. It has taken a lot of burden off my shoulder that I am not the only one who feels this way. Shammi ji I can never let go what you said. <<Sai will guide u if he wants any from you>>. So true why didn't I think of that. Thanks again for sharing your views with me.

    Jai Sai Ram!
