Title: Some Random Thoughts--- At Baba's Lotus Feet!
Post by: SaiServant on November 28, 2006, 12:20:47 PM
Om Sri Sadguru Devaya Charanom Sharanam Prapadhyanay!!

Baba,

Kindly accept my offerings of some humble thoughts at your lotus feet. Borne out of my appreciation for spiritual giants on whose shoulders I stand (hope Newton pardons me borrowing his phrase), please help me to keep my resolve to contribute regularly to this blessed forum. It is an attempt to show my sincere appreciation for your loved devotees here. I offer at your kind feet this prayer that I recite to you in the silence of my heart otherwise. Kindly accept it:

Asto Maa Sad Gamaya
Tamso Maa Jyotir Gamaya
Mratyor Maa Amritam Gamaya!

Kindly lead us from falsehood to truth, from darkness to light, and from mortality to immortality!

My heartfelt gratitude to you for all your love and care!!

Om Sai Ram!

Seeds of disappointment cannot take roots in a heart full of gratitude. A grateful heart is a peaceful heart, because it tries to find a reason to thank Baba in every situation. In other words, an attitude of gratefulness keeps one positive under all circumstances.

JAI SAI RAM!!!

When Gurdjieff was just a child of nine, his dying father said to him, "I cannot give you anything except the one deep thing that I have experienced in my life. There is only one thing that I have gained that I can give you as my heritage: whenever someone is angry at you, don't react immediately. Wait for twenty-four hours and then reply."

Later on Gurdjieff was to say that this simple teaching transformed his whole life -- he promised his dying father that this rule would be binding on him for his whole life. If someone insulted him, scolded him, or abused him, he would remain a witness to it with no immediate reaction -- and not only outwardly but inwardly also. He would listen patiently to whatever was being said or done to him and then say, "I cannot react immediately. I will come back after twenty-four hours. This is a promise that I have given to my father. So I will come back after twenty-four hours and then I will react."

Obviously, he never reacted. He found himself coming back after twenty-four hours and saying, "At the moment I could not react because of my promise.

Now, too, I cannot react."

His whole life was changed by it, because the opening for the lower became closed. Twenty-four hours is too long a period to wait. The mind opens only when there is a certain pressure -- and then only for a moment. If you wait, the mind will close again. If you don't allow the pressure to affect you, then after twenty-four hours the situation will have become cold and dead. Only in a heated moment is the mind ready to react.

A life of reaction is a life of slavery, intellectually and spiritually.
One must live a life of action, not reaction.

Pain is a part of being alive. Pain refines our spirit just as fire purifies gold. It is integral to the process of our transition from  a state of just 'being' into our 'becoming'. A caterpillar struggles painfully to break the cocoon that encases it in order to emerge as a beautiful butterfly. In a similar way, the human spirit undergoes the throes of suffering that, in fact, has the potential to evolve it into a higher spiritual state. Blessed are those who regard pain as a trainer that can transform the soul. Thus, instead of complaining, they stay grateful to it for its purifying and uplifting potential.

Difficulties are tests from Baba. Tests of our character, endurance and faith. We may wander in the wilderness for long, but the promised land waits only for those who can remember that a difficult time is just a test. Like a potter on the wheel, Baba molds us, shapes us, and builds our character. Putting us through a bad experience or time is His way of refining us. A test well qualified brings us higher up, closer to Him. So, when in a difficult spot, let good attitude shine and impress the Master. The suffering may be intense, pain unbearable, and the heart may be cracking under existential pressures. But remember: It is just a test. A great opportunity to win the Master's heart. So, put on a smile on your face and spring in your footsteps when you feel that your world is falling off at the bottom [:)] Because, it is just a test.

Baba is everywhere, in everyone and everything. If divinity is so pervasive, any thinking person may ask, why do we have killers, rapists or dacoits in this world. In other words, if God is present in everyone, there should be no blood-shed, torture and other sorts of inhumanity around us. We may find some solace in explaining such evil things by karmic theory. That is, one gets what one sows. But by accepting this theory, we still do not deny the existence of an imperfect world.

Ramakrishna Paramhamsa, one perfect Master of our age, once told his disciples that they should respect everyone, every living and non-living thing, because God exists in all. After getting this lesson from the Master, the disciples started respecting everybody they came across. One fine day, a disciple was on his way to the market. He was happily walking on the road, right in the middle. A man riding an elephant was coming on the opposite side. People dispersed to make the way for the elephant. But, this disciple folded his hands and continued walking in the middle. The man riding the animal shouted at him repeatedly, asking him to get out of the way of the elephant. The disciple did not pay any heed. He continued marching with full confidence towrds the animal. Now, it is not hard to guess what must have happened!!

The injured disciple was carried back to the Ashram. The Master asked him gently as to how the accident took place. The disciple cried out loud, and started blaming the Guru, "You told us that God is in everyone and everything. I thought God was in that elaphant also, so kept walking towards it. You were wrong Gurudev? Look at my condition now". The Guru smiled, held his hand and said, "Why did you ignore the warnings of the man who was riding the animal? God was in him too".

This story came to my mind this morning when one of my posts annoyed some devotees on this forum. One of them cited in bold letters from Sai Satcharita about 'divinity' being in all. Yes, I agree with her. Divinity is everywhere. But, that includes me too!!

Baba, kindly make your devotees more tolerant to counter-views!! May they learn that faith need not be blind to other perspectives!!

Hi Sunita,

I agree with what you say.God is in you too.I hv read many of your posts and would love to continue reading them. You speak your heart and mind ,many people just follow like a herd without using their own wisdom and thought.
In some situations, the story of Gautama buddha should be applied.Do not take hurtful remarks personally .Those also are someones opinions.they donot reflect you bt they reflect the inside of those who say harsh words.at the same time, just continue expressing ur thoughts the way u have been doing,as people like me visit this forum as we get more convinced by lifes experiences, and words written from heart and soul rather than being one of those who are doing hours of prayers in front of god bt being disrespectful to each other as human beings.

Dear Babita ji,
Sai Ram!

Thank you for your kind words. I was a bit upset yesterday, but now I am fine. Baba used me to convey something to those He cares about truely. In that sense, I'm fortunate that I could be of some use to the Master. I'll keep posting irrespective of what some of the devotees may feel. My posts are my humble offerings to the Master that we all happen to have in common. Nobody really can take away my right to serve my Baba.

I appreciate your courage to intervene in a neutral way in that post. Silence is not always beneficial. By speaking out, you gave me hope that all is not lost after all. Kindly keep up the task of intervening in conflicts, because avoiding that makes one a party to the injustice or unfairness. I am happy that I gained a genuine sister like you through this unpleasant experience. May Baba bless you always!

Jai Sai Ram!!

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Thus wrote a political philosopher centuries ago. This principle does not apply to political world only. I think it has implications for the spiritual life also. As one advances in spiritual journey, a seeker may gain powers (Siddhis) of various sorts and degrees. Using them, the seeker impresses upon others that he or she has arrived. But, that is far from the truth. These powers are nothing but traps for the aspirant on spiritual path. You fall for them, and fall from divine grace. The challenge is to get these Siddhis, but ignore them in order to proceed to the next stage of spiritual growth. It may get tempting to use them. Because, nothing is more appealing than a desire for followers. But, using these powers invariably leads to spiritual downfall.

We have stories of spiritual aspirants who could not resist the temptation of such powers, and faced their sad end. We also have examples like Baba who never used the Siddhis consciously. His so-called 'miracles' are simply His 'grace'. And, that grace can flow to each one of us individually. We need to earn His grace by ourselves, through sincere prayers. Nobody else can do that job for us.

Jai Sai Ram!!

'Ego' plays fascinating games. Witness how it deludes you. One moment you become "Him", the next very moment you are "me" again. You try to rise higher, assigning both cause and effect to "Him', thus strive to be more enlightened. But, there you are falling back to where you were a while back. This struggle is mostly unconscious. Our ego plays the tricks to keep us trapped. We make everything into "One" and then again fragment it into "parts", sometimes consciously and at times unconsciously.

The conceptual binaries like pride/ prejudices, likes/dislikes, respect/disrespect, praise/criticism  are not just linguistic. These reflect a stronghold of 'Ego'. Pride and prejudice, likes and dislikes, praise and criticism from the substratum on which ego thrives. An honest look at ourselves may help us to see how we keep vacillating between "Baba" and "Me" as per the dictates of our ego.

What a trap! Do we need more proof of an imperfect world [:)]

JAI SAI RAM!!!

A KING WANTED TO PICK THE WISEST MAN among his subjects to be his prime minister.

When the search finally narrowed down to three men, he decided to put them to the supreme test.

Accordingly, he placed them in a room in his palace, and installed a lock which was the last word in mechanical ingenuity. The candidates were informed that whoever was able to open the door first would be appointed to the post of honour.

The three men immediately set themselves to the task.

Two of them at once began to work out complicated mathematical formulas to discover the proper lock-combination. The third man, however, just sat in his chair doing nothing. Finally, without bothering to put pen to paper, he got up, walked to the door, turned the knob, and the door opened. It had been unlocked all the time!

THIS IS THE SITUATION. Nothing is locked, the door is open. And people are pondering upon ways and means to unlock the lock. People are trying different methodologies, practising a thousand and one things, to get out. And in fact they ARE out. Unless they stop this thinking business they will not know the truth of the situation.

Man is not in bondage, only thinks so. Because he thinks so, he is in bondage. There is no difference between a Buddha and an ordinary man. But the ordinary man thinks there is a difference -- then there is.

You create your prisons, your locks. And then you try to find out the ways to get out of them.

The best remedy for stress and strain is patience and forgiveness.  Patience begets strength and confidence and leads eventually to bliss.

With no intentions to argue, just my humble thoughts. Let me admit--I think, therefore I am! I need to be honest to myself at least. By simply dismissing thought processes, I cannot get away from the 'mind'. It exists, it is real, and it is treacherous!

An ostrich buries its head in sand to avoid looking at the danger in front of it, but that does not mean that the danger does not exist. It may take me years before I reach Buddhahood, the way I understand that state. You are blessed Ramesh Bhai that you got is easily, following the method you suggest. Perhaps, by Baba's grace I may get it sooner than I think [:)]

Sunita Dear, here are some thoughts to help you - I have been reading and researching from other sources and trying to apply myself- all by HIS grace. And that is why we work on controlling/mastering our mind. When your actions become clean and good, it becomes purified, then you’ll find that your soul itself becomes elevated and mind becomes serene and calm. And the body keeps much better health than ever before. You must learn to control your mind and the senses. And for this it is necessary that you do prayers. You do prayer and meditation. Calm your mind. Don’t think of any other object, anything else except God. Then your mind comes under control. If you cannot control your mind, all sorts of things will come into your mind and upset you, therefore upsetting the body also, making you unhealthy, not only on the physical level, but also on the mental level. Your mental balance can also be threatened if you go on with terrible stress and uncontrollable thoughts. It is for this that you do prayer and meditation. You read the great books — you do parayanam of the great books and great scriptures. All these things you should read. You will find so many examples of people who have suffered and yet have gone on to the higher levels. Then you find that

‘Lives of great men, all remind us,
We can make our lives sublime;
And departing, leave behind us,
Footprints on the sands of time.’

The great people who have gone before us have shown the way. Follow the same way, and you will also be established in that God-consciousness, calmness, and serenity. And so much so that other people, not only your own family, but also society, your friends and relations will also learn to follow you. For this you must live a disciplined life. You will find that you are able to do it with the Grace of God. You can’t do it by yourself. Nobody can do anything by himself or herself. Without the blessings and Grace of God, it is just not possible. This we must understand. And live. Many things can happen in the world - many difficulties, troubles, sorrows, - all these things. You should not let that overcome you. You should live in the world like as the Bhagavad Gita says, like a lotus leaf on the water. A lotus leaf does not get wet. Water drips onto it, it rolls down. So, untouched by whatever happens, you must do your duty to perfection. Duty must be done to perfection and to the very best of your ability. When you do that, you get a certain satisfaction that you have done your duty. The rest you leave to God because you have no control over the events that are coming – that have to come tomorrow. Today all you can do is your duty. That is all. Leave the rest to Him.

JAI SAI RAM!!!

Its a bit lengthy but read it...May be it is of some use to someone who is in search and so dear to MY BABA SAI...searching for the trust in self....

... PATIENCE IS THE GOLDSMITH; INTELLECT IS THE ANVIL; KNOWLEDGE IS THE HAMMER;

We can use our intellect in two ways. We have already made use of it as a knapsack, but not as an anvil. We fill it with information, just as a ragman fills his bag. We hear scriptures and listen to sadgurus. Whatever we get, no matter what its source, we dump into this bag, this beggar's sack. It contains everything: scriptures, masters' teachings, newspapers, Vedas, radio advertisements, movie songs. If someone abuses you, you tuck away the abuse in the sack. If someone gives you a mantra to recite, you store it there. Your mind is a sack in which the mantra mingles with foul words. Vedas are lost in everyday news. And such a bag we constantly drag behind us.

This we call memory. It is not knowledge, just rubbish. Genuine knowledge is that which is attained from our own experience. The intellect is filled with borrowed knowledge; everything is stale. Nanak says, however, that intellect is the anvil and knowledge is the hammer.

Nanak says knowledge is the blow of the hammer. Whenever you attain knowledge, howsoever infinitesimal, every hair of your body trembles with its impact.

This is why we avoid knowledge, because we don't want to bear the shock of it. Instead we merely gather information, because this gives no shock. You read in the shastras, "God is the ultimate truth." What shock is there in that? You read, "Meditation is the way." You have learned it by heart; you even tell it to others. What impact does it have?

A little girl was playing in her courtyard when her mother called her from the top of the stairs for her bath. The little girl didn't want to leave her game. Her grandmother, who was herself sunning in the courtyard, told her daughter many times, "Let her play. You can give her a bath later on." But the mother was adamant. At last the child left her playing and began to climb the stairs. When she saw her mother she said to her, "How strange that you always tell me to 'listen to your mother' but you don't listen to your mother at all."

Do you ever heed the advice you give others? No, it's just stale stuff that you pass on to others. Once you give it away you are free of it. There's no more to it. It never did anything for you; nor will it for others.

Advice is given so freely, and taken so rarely. People feel so free to distibute knowledge, but who takes it? On the contrary, you avoid such people because they bore you. They fill your sack of intellect with all the trash that lies in their sack. The joke is they have never put it to any other use.

Real knowledge carries an impact; it is born out of life's experience, the friction of life. When you take a jump into existence, knowledge is born -- not through scriptures and words. Experience is a blow, so we try to avoid it to save ourselves.
Gurdjieff used to compare our knowledge with the buffers of a train or the springs of a car. Both are shock absorbers. When there is an impact they absorb the shock, whereas authentic knowledge is a shock in itself.

When someone close to you dies, you say, "The soul is eternal." This knowledge has never shaken you in your life. You use it merely as a shock absorber. The sages who have declared this truth of the immortality of the soul, have practiced self-restraint. They have passed through many furnaces and fires. This knowledge has been like a hammer of the anvil for them. This knowledge has completely crushed them; it has broken their skulls open, so to speak. Their ego has been reduced to dust. It has severed all their connection with the body. This knowledge has caused their whole world to reel and fall to pieces. This is the knowledge that initiated them into sannyas. This knowledge has made them as good as nobodies in the mundane world. It has uprooted them completely from samsara. It came as a hurricane and swept them away completely.

What has your knowledge done for you? It is like a lullaby.

When you do not fall asleep you hum your knowledge, and so fall asleep. When someone dies, you use it to absorb the shock, because you are afraid of death. It could also have been possible for a death in your family to become a full-fledged experience for you, by which you attained knowledge. In that case, the event of death becomes the hammer and you are the anvil; and when the hammer fell on you, the blow would have awakened you.

No one ever awakens in this world without a blow; you have placed shock absorbers all around you so you are safe inside. Nothing can affect you.

Someone dies, and you say, "The soul is immortal." You see a beggar on the road and say,  "Poor man. He is paying for his past actions." You are loathe to give him a paltry two paise! You really have to believe he is suffering from past actions or you would consider yourself partly responsible, which would be a blow to you, so you create a shock absorber. You say, "Poor man, he suffers because of his own actions." And you go on your way. His plight creates no anxiety in you, no worry, no food for thought.

You are very efficient. Your cunningness knows no bounds. The sages attain knowledge by the impact of events, and you use that very impact as a shock absorber. Whatever happens you save yourself. You take great care to protect your ego, the very thing that needs to break.

INTELLECT IS THE ANVIL; KNOWLEDGE IS THE HAMMER;

But where is the hammer to descend -- on whose head? Only if you place your own self between the anvil and the hammer can knowledge be created in you.

Only when you break into fragments -- only then! But you save yourself in a thousand ways.

Nanak says that knowledge is the hammer. Don't use your intellect as a sack or else the sack will grow and grow, while you get smaller and smaller, until one day you'll get lost in your own sack. You will die beneath its weight; that's how pundits and scholars die, crushed under their own knowledge.

Make your intellect into an anvil and its shine will improve with every experience of life.

Each blow will cleanse and polish it. If you ask a goldsmith or blacksmith they will tell you that hammers often break as they strike, but the anvil remains intact. The anvil even begins to shine more and more as the hammers break.

Lao Tzu asked why the anvil does not break. He answered that it is because it bears the blow, and the hammer breaks because it attacks. Aggression always breaks by itself. You need not worry about it, just develop the ability to endure; then every situation that is aggressive, that shakes you up, will make you all the stronger. Ask the goldsmith and he will tell you how many hammers he has broken on his anvil, while the anvil remains intact. Though you would think that the anvil should break after so many blows, what hits breaks itself, while what bears the impact is saved. The secret lies hidden in the anvil.

Nanak says the intellect is the anvil, so the intellect will not break. Don't be afraid, but make it vulnerable to the blows of experience. Let the blows fall -- as many as life lets fall on your consciousness, so shall you be purified. Make life an adventure. Don't run away from where you think the blows will fall. He who flees is defeated already; he has not accepted the challenge. His anvil will get rusted even if he sits in the Himalayas. Don't be a coward or a deserter but stand up to the challenges of life!

Writings on Baba's life tend to focus more on his healing powers

and the miracles he performed.

But Baba's real mission was to help people rise above bigotry.

He tried to initiate a thought process that would elevate the human

spirit to a divine high.

Jai Sai Ram!!

Rising above human frailities requires effort and will. Masters show the path, followers may or may not walk on that. The symbolic meaning of a Master's acts and words are reduced to literal. Knowing the meaning of His acts and words may require exertion and patience. But, many may not like to take the pains to understand the deeper meaning of His acts and words. Thus, symbolism gives way to ritualism.

Baba's apparent behaviour and His methods of interacting with His devotees, as documented in Sai Satcharita, has been reduced to literal, thus mundane. In the absence of a desire to understand what His ways really signified, followers seek His 'miracles' and not His 'grace'.

Such a phenomenon can be seen not only in Baba's followers, but of every religion today. People twist and distort the teachings of Masters to suit their narrow ends. The essence of the teachings are forgotten under human selfishness.

Jai Sai Ram.

After Rama's return from Lanka, Kaikeyi, who felt penitent about all that she had done, sought
Upadesh (spiritual guidance) from Rama to atone for her wrongs. Rama did not give her the
advice directly, but indicated it indirectly. This is characteristic of all Avatars from ancient times. Avatars seldom give advice directly. What they wish to convey, they give indirectly. The reason is: there is divinity present in each human being and it is by making man realise it that he should be enabled to correct himself. If the correctives are applied directly, man will never try to realise his divinity. The indirect method is used to give to man the capacity to understand his divinity.

Jai Sai Ram!

A magician once used his power to stop a moving train in Calcutta. As a child, I was so fascinated by the feats of another magician that I tried some tricks at home. Luckily, I was rushed to the doctor and saved. Magic has been tried in almost every society in different ways. It creates effects that inspire human awe, thus has been used to serve some or the other social function.

Baba did some mysterious things too. We have instances in Sai Satcharita that show His acts that were nothing less than magical.  Can we call Him a magician then?

Baba's magical feats were "mystical". These were infused with divinity. He didn't do them to impress anyone. His acts were unconscious, mostly unintended. Those acts were like water overflowing a flooded dam. He was a reservoir of supernatural, so it was natural for that to spill out sometime. Baba's mysticism is beyond human understanding, hence divine.

Modern day "gurus" who create such magical effcts are magicians. They do these feats to impress people. Their feats are motivated by some desire, hence far from divine. It is up to us to stay on guard, otherwise we may be mistaking a magician for "the doctor" [:)]

JAI SAI RAM!!!

Veet means beyond, sangharsh means conflict, struggle.

The greatest calamity that has happened to human beings is an inner division. Man has been divided, he no more functions as a unity.

This has been the greatest trick played upon man, a great conspiracy of the politicians and priests, because this is the only way to keep man a slave.

If a man starts fighting with himself then he becomes impotent to rebel; he is castrated. This is a psychological castration. His whole energy becomes involved in inner conflict. He has no more energy to fight with society, with the state, with the people, with the crowd and with all kinds of superstitions. Then he is so weak outside that he accepts. He has no more will to fight, his inner fight is too much. This is a psychological trick.

If a man is one inside he will not tolerate anything that is inhuman; he will not tolerate anything that goes against his intelligence. He will not tolerate anything that is stupid, superstitious, howsoever long its history and howsoever respectable it may have been considered in the past. The man who is one will be able to see through things, and not only able to see, he will be able to act according to his intelligence.

But man is a house divided against itself. And the way that he has been divided is so subtle that it is a!most difficult to understand, to comprehend. Many things have been condemned, and those things are things natural to man. The moment you condemn something natural you create division in yourself. You are against your own nature: the split arises. Now there is never going to be any moment of victory, because nobody can win. Neither you can win -- because you are also part of your being -- nor the thing that you are fighting against can win, because that too is part of your being.

It is like making your left and right hand fight, wrestle: nobody can be victorious because you are behind both. So it is only your energy being dissipated in an absurd, foolish fight.

My friends have to learn how to get out of this conspiracy. Accept yourself in toto. All that is natural is good, nature is good. And if there is ever a choice between nature and the moralist, choose nature and forget all about the moralist. If there is ever any fight between the natural and the ideal, drop the ideal immediately; it is worthless.

Listen to your nature, and slowly slowly you will be able to become one again. And the day one becomes one, life has a totally different meaning. It is vital, it is capable of rebelling, it is capable of asserting itself, it is capable of being on its own, it is capable of risking. And only the person who is a unity, who has integrity, will be able to reach god, because the journey is long, arduous. It needs great integrity. The people who are falling into parts cannot go on that journey. Their whole life is wasted in keeping themselves together somehow.

Man is born as a tabula rasa, empty, a canvas.

The painting is possible, but it will depend on you what shape, what form, it will take.

It is your choice, it is your responsibility.

Don't take life for granted.

That's how many people are missing, they think just being born is enough.

It is not: it is only a beginning of a great journey. The real has yet to happen.

That is the meaning of your name.

Become aware that you are a seed.

Become aware that the seed has a great potential to become a tree,

that it can bloom in a thousand and one flowers, and that unless it is attained the work remains unfinished.

And one cannot feel fulfilled unless it is actualised,

unless all that is possible is actualised.

When your whole potential has become the real, that is the moment of great bliss.

Then one has arrived, and only then is there rest and contentment and fulfilment.

JAI SAI RAM!!!

Sufi mystics function very esoterically, so they have discovered secret ways of being recognized. Indian mystics want isolation, they want to be away from the crowd. They move to the forest, to the hills. But even if he moves to a monastery or the forest, people become aware of him, and before long he becomes known. Silence has its own message: it is its own message, conveying many things.

Sufis have tried another method. They do not go to a monastery, they do not go to a forest or to a lonely hill; rather, they become part of ordinary life. For example, a Sufi mystic may be just a cobbler. He will be so ordinary that no one will be able to recognize that he knows something, or he is something. But one who is open to higher forces will become aware of it.

Gurdjieff used to go in search for the miraculous. He followed -- without any map, without any knowledge -- and eventually came to India, to Egypt, and to Tibet. He went on and on -- just feeling his way, not knowing where he was going -- when suddenly he would feel that a particular footpath was good. He would follow it. Sometimes the footpath would end in front of a hut, and inside would be a mystic!

When you become open to the higher, things begin to happen in a very different way. But if you are only open to the lower then you have to grope in the dark for the higher.

That groping is random, accidental. Sometimes you may come to know someone or something, but that is rare. Even if you stumble upon someone or something that could change and transform your life totally, you are not aware of it.

Even if you meet Buddha, you will not be aware that you are facing a buddha. How can you be aware of it? You are not open to the higher, so even if you do meet a buddha you will only be open to his lower possibilities. You will begin to find things to disturb you even in a buddha: Why does Buddha eat like this? Why does he sleep like that? Why is he such and such? Your lower opening will give you things to think about that do not concern his buddhahood at all, and the higher will be missed. The only thing that you will do is to look in the direction of the lower: it is such a long habit.

We believe in the lower forces, we are faithful to the lower, because only the door to the lower is open in us. If someone is condemning someone else we believe him totally; there is no need for evidence. That is why rumors become true: you can create an absolutely false rumor and then, because so many people believe it, it is possible that you yourself may begin to believe it. We are led by others. If so many people are saying something, it must be true.

The opening to the lower is habitual in us. Be aware when some lower force is pulling you.

Be a witness to it. Don't allow your mind to be open to it.

Everything that you are open to becomes deeply imprinted inside you and finally begins to work.

So be aware constantly, moment to moment. Even if something is right, true, but lower, don't be open to it. Even if you know someone is a thief, still I say: don't be open to it, because while you are focused on it, it is being imprinted within you. This habit of focusing on the lower is not good because it becomes a hindrance to the opening of the higher.

Jai Sai Ram!!

One simply cannot miss a Buddha!! Even a heartless dacoit named Unglimaar could not miss Gautama Budhha. The aura and effect of Buddha was overwhelming and disarmed the killer. Anyone who stirs your  'lower' (using Ramesh Bhai's terms) may be anything, but a Budhha!

Yes, we should take the higher road always. But, focussing on the higher does not mean that one has to turn a blind eye to the lower. Knowing a thief as a thief may help. But, regarding a thief as your guardian may make you repent later.

Jesus ignored the lower, and died on the cross. His followers may glorify His tragic death as atonement of their sins, but that can be debated. Bhagwaan Krishna, Bhagwaan Ram, Gautama Budhha, Mahatama Gandhi, Swami Vivekananda and other reformers recognized the lower, but tried to use their higher selves to overcome that. Sai Baba recognized the lower in others too, and helped them to rise above them.

The 'lower', both in self and others, needs to be recognized and conquered. If you don't, then you are helping it to reproduce and perpetuate itself. Criticism can be used constructively. So, it is up to you whether you would prefer to stay indifferent to the 'lower' or help to eradicate it. It may help to grapple with the lower, both in self and others, to reach the higher. Simply ignoring the lower may never allow you to rise above it.

Divine Will acts from each of us through service to others. In my opinion, there should be a loftier purpose than to stand higher in life, as indifferent or uninterested spectators. The goal must be to stoop down and lift others higher. In my view, that is real Bhakti: Love for Baba and His creation. So, the real challenge is to engage with the ‘lower’, and lift it to the higher plane, with utmost himility [:)]

In this world, service often gets a selfish streak. It is done in return for something or with some material or non-material expectation. Unselfish service is marked by humility, a hard-to-find trait in this age of egoism, individualism and incivility.

God exalts the humble, and humbles the proud. Thus speaks the holy Bible. Like Baba, Jesus Christ stands out as an epitome of humility. It was his humility that made him ignore the ‘lower’ in people. If someone slaps you on one cheek, offer the other—-that was Jesus’s philosophy. He lived by that ideal, and died for it. Nothing in history wrenches my heart as much as the story of Jesus being put through betrayal, torture, humiliation and pain in the last few hours of his life on this earth.

I deeply love and respect Jesus for his humbleness. There can be no bigger example of forgiveness than his. His last words convey it: “God forgive them for they don’t know what they are doing”. He shouted out these words as he faded away to eternity, nailed and bleeding on the cross. My heart goes numb and cries out for him as I feel his pain. His humility and spirit of forgiveness are exemplary. But, his meekness in the face of betrayal and injustice makes me sad. He was aware about his disciple Judas’s evil intentions. Yet, he ignored it. He knew he generated animosity among the priests. Yet, he ignored it. He ignored and stayed indifferent to the manifestation of ‘lower’ in mankind. His heart-wrenching death stands out as a slap on the face of humanity and its evil tendencies.

Jesus’s followers justify his tragic death on the cross as God’s love for them. They believe that God sent His only son to die for them, for the atonement of their sins. I’m not sure how true that is. Yet, I derive great inspiration from Jesus for his spirit of forgiveness. My only regret remains his indifference and excessive tolerance for the ‘lower’ in people around him. His humility exalted him only after his death. But, personally I would have loved him more if he had stayed humbly intolerant to injustice and unfairness perpetuated against him in his lifetime.

May Baba bless us with Jesus's spirit of forgivenss!

JAI SAI RAM!!!

Whatsoever the world can give to us keeps us poor. It can't make us rich; it can at the most give us a pretension of being rich. Even Alexander the Great is a beggar. Even the richest person on earth remains empty, futile, deep down, because the riches that he has accumulated are outside and the poverty is within. Your money cannot go inside you, cannot fulfill you there. You can go on piling up money outside; it will remain outside you. You will remain poor. In fact you will start feeling more poor as the money starts piling up. In comparison a poor man never feels so poor as a rich man, because of the contrast.

The really rich is one who knows God, because that is an inner experience. Only when God fills you within are you rich. Then you may have money, may not have money, it doesn't matter, it is not relevant.

Initiation into sannyas is an inquiry, an exploration, into this inner richness.

Jesus says again and again: The kingdom of God is within you. He is indicating this richness. When he says man cannot live by bread alone; he is saying that if a man lives by bread alone he does not live at all.

He only exists, he only survives -- maybe comfortably but his life has no significance, no song arises out of him. He has not been able to know anything which is really valuable.

And what is really valuable? There is only one definition: that which you can take beyond death, only that is really valuable. All else is worthless. It may have a price to it but it has no value. Things have prices but no values. Only inner experiences have values, but they don't have any price. You cannot purchase them, you cannot sell them, but you can have them. In fact you already have them, it is just that you are not aware of the fact. One has to turn in and look, and immediately one becomes rich, immediately one is an emperor.

That is Deva Edo. Deva means divine; edo means rich -- divine richness.

MAY BABA SAI BLESS Deva Edo to each one of us here...

A deer runs helter skelter in search of the scent that actually emanates from its naval. Jesus and other realized souls tell us that God's kingdom is within us. When the Beloved is inside us, why do we run outwards?

The dark veil of ignorance hides the light of divinity within. Reaching it may involve confronting ourselves. And, that confrontation could scare most of the people. We may prefer to live happily, as the ego projects a comfortable picture of us to ourselves. When we honestly peep inside our souls, we may not like what we see. Confronting our 'lower' may not be a pleasant experience. In such a scenario, running outwards is natural. Human mind is capable of weaving fantastic lies, so it does that and prevents a seeker from getting in.

When we peel the layers of our mind, just like an onion, nothing remains in the end. That nothingness is Him. But, the process of peeling our mind, to get rid of its shackles, is an arduous and a long drawn out task. It requires immense honesty, humility, patience and perseverence. So, most of the seekers get uncomfortable or impatient when they go inwards. They give up, and seek the easy way out. In a bid to maintain the comfort zone, the direction of the search is changed to the outer world. As long as they think they are doing something spiritual, it does not matter to them how they are doing it. Such is the nature of human self-deception!

The fable of six blind men and an elephant conveys it all. None of the blind men was accurate in his discription of the elephant. Depending on which part of the elephant a blind man touched, the elephant appeared to be something similar to what already existed in that man's stock of knowledge. Thus, the elephant was understood partially by each, yet the claim was made as if that was the sole truth. Inevitably, they started fighting amongst themselves regarding the reality of the elephant. One can be sympathetic to each one of them, since they were not able to grasp the entity under examination corretly and in its totality. In fact, the whole was more than the sum of its parts that each one of them had tried to understand. Only a man with vision may have made them realize the folly of their understanding.

We cannot limit God by our limited knowledge and understanding. I may have put across my personal beliefs, yet those may represent Him   partially. Something that needs to be experienced directly cannot be reduced to words. In my view, spirituality is a personal journey. Everyone needs to follow his or her own path that suits the seeker the most. That is alright till we don't impose our beliefs on others, or become intolerant to the expression of their beliefs. In fact, that was the crux of Baba's teachings.

"DHARMAKAYA HAS NO FORM, THEREFORE, ONE SEES IT WITHOUT SEEING."

So if you want to see God, you will have to learn the art of seeing without seeing, you will have to learn the art of closing your eyes to the outside reality, to the manifest reality. You will have to close your eyes so that you can move into the unmanifest dimension.

A great mystic, Palatu, has said: Those who are blind, only they can understand me.

A rare statement, a very rare statement, I have never come across anything like it anywhere. Thousands of mystics have happened on the earth, but what Palatu says.... He is a villager: his speech is direct. He says: Unless you are blind, you will not understand what I am saying. What does he mean by blind? He means: if you know how to see WITHOUT seeing.

"DHARMA HAS NO VOICE..."

The ultimate has no voice, no language.

"... THEREFORE, ONE HEARS IT WITHOUT HEARING."

You will have to become so silent that nothing stirs in you, and then without hearing it will be heard. These are paradoxes. But the closer you come to the truth, the more paradoxical is the experience. Be prepared to encounter paradoxes. And the first paradox the disciple has to encounter is: victory through surrender. That is the first encounter, because that is how disciplehood begins. You surrender to the master -- and the rare beauty is that in that very surrender you are for the first time victorious. You become a slave to the master and in becoming a slave you are for the first time your own master. You have never been a master. And then the path is full of paradoxes.

Seeing God is not the same as living in God. In our world, there is no dearth of spiritually arrogant people. They may claim that they have seen God, in one or the other form, but that does not mean that they have become one with Him. Seeing His various manifestations does not imply that you become like Him, if not exactly Him. The act of living in God consciousness surely transforms a person, elevating him or her to the level of divinity. Then there remains no need to prove how elevated one is.

We have so much religiosity around us, but does that make people divine? Baba told us that He is in every being. So, should we bow before every being, human or non-human, that we encounter? I once touched the feet of an elderly man in a temple, thinking he was an embodiment of divinity. Later, the priest who saw me doing that admonished me for it. He had seen this man indulging in all types of ungodly practices, even though he visited the temple almost everyday. It is a paradox indeed that many ills take place behind the facade of spirituality or religiosity.

Any spiritual practice that fails to make you a better person has failed you. You may think you have seen God or you have God in you, but that does not mean that you live in God. The day this understanding dawns upon those who pride in their spiritual practices without being established in God consciousness, the world may indeed take a turn towards the better.

Random Thoughts coming at its best..

Thanks for your optimistic prognosis. Infect everybody has been around a negative person at least once in life - probably many times. A negative person will bring you down and drain your energy. If you allow them, negative people will make you angry and challenge your ability to remain positive. Whether your family member, your relatives or your co-worker even your child or spouse that is chronically negative, there are things you can do to remain positive in the face of negativity.

Negativity can come in the form of cynicism, criticism, whining, attacking, pessimism, discontent, perfectionism, and hyper intensity. All of these behaviors can push people away, including spouses. Imagine being in a small boat drifting in a river. And imagine being unaware that your boat has a motor. As long as you fail to use that motor you will be a captive of the river. You will be a prisoner without any control over your destination. Yet, the boat that we’re in does have a motor. We can use it to change course. That motor is our power of choice. All we have to do is choose to look for the good, for when we do so, that is all we will find.

We must watch the negative thinking because the power of negative thinking is far greater than that of positive thinking. I will encourage all our intellectual forum’s members for their rational insight regarding negativity (s) and how is affecting your lives.

(Here's another little bonus for you. While you are blocking these negative people out of your life, you'll look around and notice a change. You'll now find yourself surrounded by a whole new set of positive people who support you and your goals. "Positive breeds more positive!")

Each of us is trying to learn from the other. Many of us acknowldge negativites in ourselves and and are trying to do human revolutions in some form or the other whereas some of us are not aware enough of the negativities we carry. Some people my write about their sins and faults and feel light here but some are aware in depth but donot announce to the world.Ultimate goal is to find and attain inner peace, tranquility and  feel ONE with Baba.None of us is perfect and none of us is Imperfect either.yes,in personal life, all of us have faced negativity, criticism and also such thoughts try to come to our minds off and own,to suspect other,to question others intention or perfection but we have to become absolute-so much that no praise and no critisism can affect our being. We have to become pure, blissful and never to forget, that life is a celebration. It is a beautiful gift which we have to cherish.Nopoint in living so seriously with too much worry or too much heaviness.Baba just gave these thoughts.so, hv penned down.I will read them again when i log in as they  apply to my own self s much as to others :)

Ramesh Bhai, thanks for your kind response. I didn't take that personally, but was surprised at the stark contradiction in your thought. You talked against "cynicism, criticism, whining, attacking, pessimism, discontent, perfectionism, and hyper intensity" in your post on the one hand. But on the other hand, you did not guage that you were indulging in the same by writing 'against' these. Yes, thoughts arise randomly and we write. But, it certainly helps if we take care to see whether we think consistently. In my view, logic needs to be applied to spirituality also.

One simply cannot be uncomfortable with status quo without being critical and discontented. In my view, perfectionism is another name for divinity. So, why talk against it!

When the hearts are apart words are needed to communicate. When hearts are together no words are needed. Words create differences and distances. Silence binds and brings harmony. Silence in its purest form is one's own self. It is the feeling of God within. Silence is meditation. Silence is energy without words, without mind. In it, it helps us to find answers to our questions and paths to our destination.

God does not speak and He communicates with all, all the time. It is not the words, but feeling. Whether it be of liking, of loving, of appreciating, of understanding that is what matters. Feeling can vibrate and reach others without having to utter a single word as the unspoken has greater power than the spoken.

JAI SAI RAM!!!

Again I must say that whatever I write I am writing in general. No specific person is in my mind.  I agree about my contradictory views on something but what to do in your day to day life when you meet some people who are so chronically negative that you have no other choice but to avoid them. If you have negative people in your life that are critically affecting your mental and physical health, you need to evaluate whether or not you want these people in your life. There are certain people like a boss, friend or co-worker that you can remove from your life or at least avoid for long periods of time. Other people, such as children and spouses, may require professional intervention if their negativity is affecting your life. Reinforce very strong boundaries with chronically negative people so you can protect your well being.

My dear Sunita once again I will say that whatever I have learnt through my life I present my side of life's view which may or may not be agreed upon in general.  Life can't be understood in simpler terms rather it has to be lived to the fullest. Life is a paradox; paradox in its nature. It is not strange.

But people are so much addicted to logic that whenever life reveals itself to them, it looks strange. Logic has been continuously taught to us -- that contradictory things cannot exist together. Logic has been teaching us that either it is day or it is night; either it is life or it is death, either it is happiness or it is unhappiness. The whole mechanism of logic is of 'either-or'.

And life is both together. Life is all together. Whenever we reach to the deepest sadness, suddenly we will see it is turning into happiness. Or, you reach to the deepest happiness and you will see that it is turning into sadness. At the centre they meet; only on the periphery are they separate.

It is just as if you make a circle, and from the centre you can draw many lines towards the periphery. On the periphery, the circumference, the lines are very far away. Move towards the centre and by and by they come closer and closer, and exactly on the centre they become one point.

All paradoxes meet within me; all paradoxes meet in existence. Only on the periphery of my mind are they separate. Deep in me, life and death are both one. Deep in me, happiness and unhappiness are both one. Deep in me, God and the devil are both me. Deep in me, this world and the other are both one, this shore and the other shore are both one.

But whenever I come for the first time to that point of realization, it looks strange, unfamiliar. But I tell you, if you are really happy, tears will come.

It is impossible if the happiness has gone really deep -- it cannot be without tears. Of course, the quality of those tears is absolutely different. It is not of sadness; it is of overflow.

And remember, if I have not known sadness together with happiness I have not known anything yet. Then my happiness is superficial; ymy sadness is also superficial. Then I have been living on the surface; then I have known only the waves; I have not known the depth of the ocean that I am.

Life is contradictory, paradoxical. It has to be so, because only then can it be so rich. If your happiness cannot cry and weep, it will be shallow, it cannot be rich. And if your tears cannot laugh, and if your sadness cannot dance, then it is superficial. In the depth, the sadness becomes a song -- a tremendous beauty of silence surrounds you, and a song is born out of the depth.

If you look into it, you will find you are not sad. The sadness is there, the happiness is there, and you are neither. This is the innermost triangle of existence; this is the point of transcendence where opposites meet. You immediately transcend. You become the third, immediately. When you see happiness and sadness meeting, suddenly you are separate from both; all identity is broken. Then you know you are a witness. Now it is for you to be identified -- either, if you want, you can be identified with sadness or you can be identified with happiness. When you are identified with happiness, sadness is suppressed; when you are identified with sadness, happiness is suppressed -- but both are two aspects of the same coin; and you are the master. The coin is in your hand; you are not the coin at all.

Thousands thought of him as a wonderful saint with miraculous powers but his innermost circle knew him to be in incarnation of God himself. Some said of Datta, others of Shiva, still others saw ecstatic visions of their own beloved Guru or chosen Ishta (personalized icon of God) while gazing at Him. He himself said only that he was the humble servant of God and pleased and furthered all who came in contact with him.

Everyone one of those who approached Baba with a preconceived

notion, either with the curiosity to know if He is really what

He is being portrayed as or with the arrogance of learnedness

had to bow in front of His humility, benevolence, compassion,

and the magnificence.

In case of all those learned men, it was the surrender either

due to the misfortune of a suffering or the providence of His

grace that provided them with the means of enlightenment.

It is true that however scholarly may man's learning be,

it just fades away in front of the one that realized the Brahman.

On this peaceful Thursday, let us contemplate on the realization

only a Sadguru can give and nothing else in the world would.

Om Sri Sainathaya Namah!!

When we step inside a temple, we try to maintain some decoram. No shouting, no fighting, no conflict of any sorts. The devotees enter the sanctum sanctorium with utmost reverence for the diety, and maintain some amount of discipline. But once inside a temple, a devotee's true thoughts and feelings are communicated to the Lord silently. A devotee may maintain outward order, but inwardly all disorder is conveyed to the Lord. But, when one enters an online temple like this, does one have a choice to talk silently to our Master? No. Words become essential. And, when you verbalise your thoughts directed at the Master, other devotees may not appreciate that. So, should one stop communicating to the Master as one likes? Absolutely not. That is our birthright sanctioned by our Beloved [:)]

When we speak to our Baba, we communicate all to Him without censoring anything. He knows everything about us, so hiding your true selves may really not serve any purpose. Nothing pleases the Master more than honesty of the disciple. Why should one pretend to be that which one is not? Sitting within our hearts, the Master is aware of all our strengths and weaknesses, our positives and negatives. So, accepting ourselves as we are and communicating that to Baba may please Him the most.

May Baba bless this online temple!!

OM SAI RAM!

SaiRam Sunita ji

Thanks for your lovely message and wishes.

Happy new Year to you too.

Baba’s personality which made all those who met him feel the urge to

surrender to him.

Sai Baba was in the deepest sense of the phrase a Guru incarnate.

He naturally attracted people, and they were willing and anxious to

surrender to him.

“Why should anyone fear, when I am near”, he said,

“Cast all your burdens on me and I will bear them”.

Who can resist such a compassionate invitation to be protected!

The master’s ways are natural, homely and human.

He never advised anyone to leave the world and retire to the forest.

He called this a shirking of one’s duties and responsibilities.

According to him, not by running away from life and its problems but

by facing them with courage and fortitude does man reach the true

understanding of his Creator.

But Sai Baba did often stress the importance of retiring into the

sanctuary, the secret place of one’s own being within, where in

solitude dwells the Self.

“Religion is what the individual does with his solitariness”,

 said the philosopher Whitehead.

It is indeed a passage from the alone to the alone.

Devotion for the most, begins with the gratitude.

Human mind normally fills itself with joy when the going gets good.

When a calamity befalls, lo, the confidence in the self crumbles,

and the mind goes in pursuit of the power that would deal with the

insolvency.

Then follows the gratitude towards the helmsman only to be

overshadowed by the power of the mythical world, the whirlpool.

This is the game of high and low and the life is one of unresolved

spirits.

Is devotion just an emotional gratitude to one's savior, a feeling

of thankfulness for a temporary material benefit?

Perhaps not! It is just a beginning of a blissful process, a sign of

more magnificient things to come.

Let us dwell on these thoughts.

Let us resolve to seek the coffers He has open for us.

Let the New Year bring the awakening, the beginning of our spiritual

journey with our beloved guide, the Saint God of Shirdi.

JAI SAI RAM!!!

People say how to find a Buddha? Two things : sincerity and mercy. His compassion will give you the idea -- his love, his overflowing love, for no reason at all.

If you can find a man of love... remember those words: "One glimpse of the real man, and you are in love." Then you are love. If you can find a man of love then don't miss the opportunity. He is the door: enter into him. And you will find sincerity.

Remember, sincerity does not mean seriousness. It means truthfulness, it means authenticity. And how will you judge whether the man is authentic, truthful, or not? There is only one thing to remember: truth is paradoxical. Only untruth is consistent. If you find a man very consistent, avoid him, because that means he is simply philosophizing. He has not yet experienced anything, he is not a sincere man.

A sincere man is one who simply says whatsoever is the case -- whether it contradicts him, whether it is consistent or inconsistent, makes no difference to him.

Remember the definition of truth: A truth is that whose contradictory is also true. So a man of sincerity is bound to be paradoxical. And that is where we miss. If you come across paradoxes you think, "This is an inconsistent man; how can he be true?" You have an idea that truth has to be consistent -- and that prevents you from finding Buddhas. And you fall in the trap of logicians, philosophers, thinkers.

A Buddha is basically, fundamentally, tacitly, paradox -- because he sees the truth in its totality. And the totality is paradoxical. The totality is both: night and day, love and meditation. The totality is both: this and that, visible, invisible. The totality is both birth and death, AND neither. The totality means the whole thing is so complex, you cannot make any consistent statement about it. You have to go on contradicting yourself.

If you can find a man of contradictions, you may be close to somebody who knows. Truth is that whose contradictory is also true.

Look for the sincerity through the paradox. He is so sincere that he is ready to become inconsistent. His sincerity is such that he is ready to be called mad. His sincerity is such that he does not try to convince you through logic. He is not a salesman. He is not worried about convincing you. He simply states whatsoever is the case -- whether you are convinced or not convinced, that is up to you.

He is not in any way interested in forcing something upon you. He is ready to help, but not to coerce you.

And what is mercy? It does not mean pity. Buddhas don't pity you, because pity arises out of ego. They are merciful, they are compassionate -- and the difference is great.

A compassionate man looks at the result. What devices he uses are not important. He is ready to use ANY device -- just look at the objective result. A compassionate man is not sentimental, emotional.

So whenever you can find a man of sincerity, a man of paradox, truth, whose whole concern is truth... Even if it makes him seem contradictory he is ready; he does not change the truth just to become consistent. And his whole concern is to help people become alert and aware -- even if sometimes cruel methods are needed he is ready to use them. That is the man of compassion and sincerity.
And only a man of compassion and sincerity can be a master. Avoid those who console you. Follow those who are ready to destroy you -- because only when you are destroyed, BABA SAI is born.

Jai Sai Ram!!

From Sai Satchritra--Chapter 2:

"On the first day of my arrival in Shirdi, there was a discussion between me and Balasaheb Bhate regarding the necessity of a Guru. I contended, "Why should we lose our freedom and submit to others? When we have to do our duty, why a Guru is necessary? One must try his best and save himself. What can the Guru do to a man who does nothing but sleeps indolently?" Thus I pleaded freewill, while Mr. Bhate took up the other side, viz., Destiny, and said, "Whatever is bound to happen must happen; even great men have failed, man proposes one way, but God disposes the other (contrary) way. Brush aside your cleverness; pride or egoism won't help you." This discussion, with all its pros and cons went on for an hour or so, and as usual no decision was arrived at. We had to stop the discussion ultimately as we were exhausted.

The net result of this was that I lost my peace of mind and found that unless there is strong body-consciousness and egoism, there would be no discussion; in other words, it is egoism which breeds discussion.

Then when we went to the Masjid with others, Baba asked Kakasaheb Dixit the following:- "What was going on in the (Sathe’s) Wada? What was the discussion about?" and staring at me, Baba further added, "What did this Hemadpant say?"

Hearing these words, I was much surprised. The Masjid was at a considerable distance from Sathe's Wada where I was staying and where the discussion was going on. How could Baba know our discussion unless He be omniscient and Inner Ruler of us all?

I began to think why Sai Baba should call me by the name Hemadpant. This word is a corrupt form of Hemadripant. This Hemadripant was a wellknown Minister of the kings Mahadev and Ramadev of Devgiri of the Yadav dynasty. He was very learned, good-natured and the author of good works, such as Chaturvarga Chintamani (dealing with spiritual subjects) and Rajprashasti. He invented and started new methods of accounts and was the originator of the Modi (Marathi Shorthand) script. But I was quite the opposite, an ignoramus, and of dull, mediocre intellect.

So I could not understand why the name or title was conferred upon me. But thinking seriously upon it, I thought that the title was a dart to destroy my ego, so that, I should always remain meek and humble."

Sai Ram.

The Spiritual Gems from Chapter 3 of Sai Satcharita are now placed at the Lotus Feet of Sri Sai Maharaj

"Sai Baba gave His complete assent to the writing of the Sat Charita and said, "I fully agree with you regarding the writing of Sat Charita. and if one dives deep into My Leelas, he would get precious gems of knowledge." "Turning to Shama (Madhavrao Deshpande) Sai Baba said, "If a man utters my name with love, I shall fulfill all his wishes, I shall draw out my devotees from the jaws of death." May I add, from the jaws of desire too, since desire is death? How? It is the desires, which bind us to the vicious circle of birth and death. (Page 11 of Sai Satcharita)."

Dear Sai Bandhus, this one paragraph is worth its weight in pure gold and precious gemstones! This Para or this assurance of Sai Baba is the basis for this series of articles. The author with utmost gratitude says that the Lord has entrusted different jobs to different people. The author feels that he being the jack-of-all-trades and master of none is being entitled to write Sai's story. So he feels that his job is only to continue writing with humility, as he is an instrument in Sai's hand. Sai only knows the purpose of making him write His divine story. "Neither the flute, nor the harmonium knows, how the sounds are produced. This is the concern of the player." So lets read on with the firm conviction that we are the instruments in Sai's hands.

"Blessed are the stories of the saints. When they enter our hearts through the ears, the body-consciousness or egoism and the sense of duality vanish;" Page 12 of Sat Charita. We have already learnt the nine methods of devotion. Hearing is the first. Reading skills were less in the earlier days and so good souls were used by God and saints to spread the bhakti cult through Hari Kathas etc Now, when reading skills are wide spread, eyes too help us in cultivating devotion. "The other Sadhanas, viz., Yog, Tyag (sacrifice), Dhyan (meditation) and Dhyan-Dharana (concentration) are very difficult to practice; but singing and hearing the stories and the glory of the Lord (Sai Baba) is very easy. With a very restless mind the author finds it impossible to concentrate or meditate even for a few seconds. But Sai, very kindly showed the way through the reading of Sat Charita. "The devotees may now easily read and hear these stories... get detachment and self-realization." Page 13. Slowly but steadily Mother Sai has been pulling me to Her, and thus away from materialistic desires including subtle desires for name, fame etc. So, dear Sai Bandhus please follow this easy path and realize the aim of taking the human birth in this life itself! Sai Ram.

Baba replied, "He will get some other job; but now, he should serve Me and be happy!" Page 13. Sai Baba was asking for the first and probably last Guru Dakshina from Shri Hemadpant, viz., surrender of ego! This is confirmed by His next few sentences: "His dishes will be ever full and never empty. He should turn all his attention to Me and avoid.... If he does this, he will get eternal happiness." Page 13 and 14. The question, Who is this He, Whose worship is advocated, is already answered in a note on 'Who is Sai Baba' in the prologue, at the beginning of this work. Page 14 of Sai Sat Charitra. Unfortunately in the later editions, this prologue is not to be found. But it is clear from the reading of Sat Charita, that Sai is Paramatma, Para Brahma, the in-dweller in our heart. Like Sri Krishna gave Gita to Sri Arjuna, Baba has, through Shri Hemadpant, given out this wonderful Upadesa.

Rohila's story is an excellent example of keeping bad thoughts at bay through Nama-Smaran, singing of Lord's name. That was the reason for Baba to take up the cause of Rohila. Baba chided the villagers who were unable to see through Rohila's harsh voice, his devotion. One day at noon, after the Arati, devotees were returning to their lodgings, when Baba gave the following beautiful advice: "Be wherever you like, do whatever you choose, remember this well that, all what you do is known to Me. ... but Maya will lash or whip him, who forgets Me." Page 14 and 15. Not only what we do, what we think is also known to Sai. Nothing is secret to Him. If Maya lashes us when we forget Him, can Yama be far behind? Actually Maya also is helping us to remember Sai by whipping or lashing us. So we should thank Maya and return to Sai's fold.

"All the insects, ants, is My body or form." Page 15. Sai is Viswatma, Viswaroopa. Viswam, Vishnur, Vashatkaro as how it begins in Sri Vishnu Sahsra Nama Stotram. He is all- pervasive. The same truth is expounded beautifully in Chapter 18.

"Before concluding this Chapter, I request the readers to leave out the various hindrances viz. indolence, sleep, wandering of mind, attachments to senses, etc. and turn their whole and undivided attention to these stories of Sai Baba. Let their love be natural, let them know the secret of devotion; let them not exhaust themselves by other Sadhanas, let them stick to this one simple remedy, i.e. listening to Sai Baba's stories. This will destroy their ignorance and will gain them salvation. A miser may stay at various places, but he always thinks of his buried treasure. So let Sai Baba be enthroned in the hearts of all."

Sai Ram. "Let their love be natural...," says Hematpand, the author. Forced love is also useful at times. As we eat, even neem becomes sweet, goes a proverb in Telugu A person asked Swami Shivananda Maharaj of Divine life society about the usefulness of Meditation in the absence of purity of mind. The kind Swami told him to go on repeating the Lord's name even mechanically so that the mind becomes pure. So reading Sai's wonderful stories will lead to mental purification and that in turn will lead to better success in meditation and other advanced methods. Even now, I find it difficult to concentrate or meditate, but I have found that remembering Him has become easier because of the sadhana of the last few years. After all, the Vasanas and distractions have developed over nearly 50 years and though it may not take 50 years to get rid of them, a few years of sadhana are certainly needed.

Shraddha and Saburi are the two paise that Sai is asking from us and let us offer these two at His Lotus feet.

Sai Ram.

Jai Sai Ram!!

'Ego' must go !! Hemadpant was not able to write a word till his sense of doership was intact. It was only after he surrendered his ego at Baba's lotus feet that he was he able to write the Book.

It is in the best interest of every devotee to kill the ego, which asserts itself in so many ways. You may feel that you have risen above others spiritually, but the real test is how much have you risen above your own ego. In fact, the more you advance spiritually, the more risk you have to fall into its trap.

Pride, the blatant expression of one's ego, is the worst enemy. Feel proud about your spiritual status or knowledge, and fall from the divine grace. The more your ego asserts itself as pride, the worse off you are spiritually.

Mita de apni hasti ko gar kuchh martaba chaahay
Ki daana khaak main mil kar gulo-gulzaar hota hai.

Just as a seed loses itself to soil in order to blossom into flowers, lose your ego if you want continuity of God's grace. Give up the pride in your self-identity to merge into the elevation of Baba Sai.

EGOISM is the most dangerous illusion that needs to be exploded and destroyed. Baba teaches that to us, both directly and indirectly. We simply need to be receptive to His instructions.

The Bhagvadgita emphasizes that you give up all Dharma and take refuge in Him. Then, He will save you from sin and suffering. Giving up Dharma does not mean that we bid farewell to virtue and action. It means, we have to give up our egoism that we are the doer.

Be confirmed in the faith that He is the "doer" of every deed. That is the genuine surrender, the real "giving up".

My dearest Baba,

Your ways are mysterious, and beyond my humble comprehension. You do everything as per your wish, but make a servant like me get involved in your affairs. Every time I decide that I won't visit this online temple again, you inspire me in strange ways and make me write. Master, I submit to your Will. But, you must take everything that comes back from your blessed devotees. Because, truly, that belongs to you. An instrument is merely an instrument, nothing more than that.

Your tolerance for proud, insane or deluded people who came in your contact is examplary. But Master, likes of Jowhar Ali, Nanavali, and Rohila are still around. I read their posts and sense the gap between Your word and theirs, and feel sympathetic towards them. Perhaps, nothing could be more painful but to see Your disciples gone astray. They ambitions have takes them far from You. Kindly, take care of such proud and vain devotees. Humble them Master.

Let such deluded disciples of yours remember that for spiritual aspirants like me, only You know the 'Truth'. Only you have the power to make us realize our higher Self, only You are our guide, our Master. Let them know that those who have sincerely chosen "Sai Path" have no other Buddha, but You Baba Sai. That only You are our path and destination. Only You are to be hailed and trusted dear Master.

In Sai Satchritra, You clearly said that Bhakti Marg is the most difficult path, as it is full of pits, wolves and other dangers. But, you also assured us that there is no danger if You are with the aspirant. So, be with me and other sincere devotees Baba! Save us from lurking dangers and obstacles.

Glory be to you Master, and to blessed Shirdi!!

OM SAI RAM!

By getting away from samsara, one can not attain happiness.

One's closeness to Baba was the result of good deeds over many

births, and such a person was Nana Chandorkar.

He learnt many things from Baba.

He found this samsara (worldly life) to be like a fearful ocean.

The samsara appeared to him like an obstacle to his spiritual

progress.

He learnt this truth by practical experience.

In the year 1918, one day when Baba was alone, Nana said to

Him, "Baba, I am finding the samsara very fearful.

My mind is not interested in worldly affairs.

Somehow, give me salvation from this worldly affairs".

On hearing this Baba smiled and said,

"There is some truth in what you said.

But the remaining is untruth and meaningless.

You are under the impression that by taking to forests,

one can escape from trials and tribulations of the samsara.

But this is not correct.

It is only an illusion, because wherever you go, your body and mind

are with you only.

They will never leave you but will be giving you some kind of

happiness.

Our past actions are the basis for our present troubles and

happiness.

They should be faced courageously and with tact, and you should lead

a family life in the proper way.

By getting away from samsara, one can not attain happiness.

Everyone who proceeds in the spiritual way will have to face all

these problems and to think of renunciation (escape) as a solution

is not correct."

'Love'. This word fascinates me as nothing else. Can we unanimously define love? Is there one way of describing or understanding it? To simplify that, what is love?

For some, love is God. For others, only God is love. For yet others, love adopts different meanings that may have nothing to do with God.

Love is God for those who find it in His creation, in the fellow beings. They love because it connects them to that 'whole' which constitutes their world. Such lovers are mostly outward looking.

For others, only God is love. Because only He is worth loving and getting love from. He is true, permanent, unchanging, and everlasting. He is within them, as much as outside them. But, such lovers mostly look inwards in order to love the beloved who resides in their hearts.

For me, only Baba Sai is love. He accepts His devotees just as they are. One can stand with all imperfections in His presence, knowing well that He will not condemn or reject you. Because, He accepts unconditionally someone who takes refuge under His loving wings.

Once Baba gives you His love, you really don't need others. You become whole and complete in His love. It satisfies you as nothing else. He fills your heart with His glowing warmth, that unmistaken bliss that only Satchitananda Sai is capable of bestowing on you.

Glory be to the Beloved who resides in our hearts!

Jai Sai Ram!

When things seem difficult and life uphill
Don't look far ahead, keep plodding on
Inch by inch the road will shorten
Till the roughest patches are past and gone
Soon you will be surprised to find
That you have left so many miles behind
Then one day the climb will stop
And you will stand triumphant at the top.

This little poem plays in my mind whenever things get difficult. The promise of victory at the end of the tumultuous journey provides one hope and strength. However, this poem does not talk about the companion who could make this journey bearable and the victory possible. The poet seems to rely too much on self-will. But, a surrendered soul may depend entirely on the higher Will. For such a person, the victory is possible only, and only, through the mercy and grace of Baba. That true companion who stays by us through the trials and tribulations of life, our compassionate Sai.

Glory be to our merciful savior !!

Jai Sai Ram !!

To err is human, to forgive divine. As imperfect beings, we commit mistakes of various sorts and degrees during the course of our lives. The breach of God's word may be conscious or unconscious. But, the seeds of misconduct thus sown, invariably bring the undesired harvest in due course of time. Because, when the law of cause and effect works, it spares nobody. We get exactly as we have sown.

Scriptures regard transgressions of virtuous conduct as 'sin'. When we fail to live up to the guidance of perfect Masters, we are bound to suffer. We falter, and make mistakes in our conduct. This accumulates burden on our conscience, bringing loss of happiness and peace either immediately or in due season.

A sinful soul suffers. It suffers because it has distanced itself from God and His word. It suffers till it is unrepentant or ignorant about its fallen nature. But, once the soul realizes its transgression, it is saved. Just like a child who runs away from home, but repents one day and makes that life-turning decision to return to its father, a repentant soul turns back from the path that has kept it away from God. Tired, exhausted, full of remorse and tears, the child walks back to its Father's house. And, the ever-waiting Father lets the repentant child walk right into His outstretched arms. The child is home finally.

We err, but God forgives. His arms are held out for any child who realizes its mistakes, repents and makes the decision to return home. We are forgiven already, because the Father loves the child more than the child knows. So, let us turn back from the path that takes us away from our Baba Sai.

Jai Sai Ram!!

When is Baba's birthday celebrated? Thus asked a devotee. This is a nice question, and some Sai Bandhus responded well to it. I think this question leads us further into the truth of Baba.

A birthday is celebrated on the day or moment when something is born. And, that which is born dies subsequently. This cycle of birth and death, both at the macro and micro level, is regarded as 'change'. But, that occurs only at the physical plane.

The spirit is never born. It never dies. It is changeless, thus eternal. Baba is/was never born, He never dies/died, He is changeless, thus eternal. In this changing universe, only Baba is constant. So, to talk about Baba's birthday is a fallacy in itself. We cannot talk about the birth or death of 'That' which exists at all times, and which does not change ever.

For that matter, I was never born, I will never die, I am eternal.   [:)] But if we celebrate the birth of any physical change, I must say, Maya plays the trick to keep us deluded!!

JAI SAI RAM!!!

You meet people each day, some who look decent and some that wear half naked clothes, you start wondering shall I judge them on how they wear or shall I judge them on who they really are.

Unfortunately many people, including myself, at times would judge people quickly without even knowing them personally; maybe it's because of the way we were raised. We have been raised in a way that peoples in category A are bad, whereas people in category B are OK. To be honest categorizing people in such way; according to dress, nationality, gender isn't always right. We shouldn't always judge people because at times it may lead to discrimination and we don't want that to happen.

I have met many people that look very sweet, innocent and kind but when you get to know them better you would realized that you were deceived.

We should always take this quote in consideration "don't judge a book by its cover" and we should always remember that "looks can be deceiving".

We should always try to know what lies beneath the looks of a person, because personalities aren't always seen because it's intangible.

Just because a person isn't from the same country as you are, doesn't make them worse and doesn't make you any better.

We should try to work hard on fixing this flaw in order to spread peace, if we as human aren't able to think before judging then how shall we gain victory?

Judge not, lest you will be judged. Before pointing at the straw in another's eye, look at the log in your own eye. (The Bible)

Drawing conclusions about people seems an easy task. But, we need to remember that we can never know a person fully. Humans are complex beings, and one may never really get to understand all the aspects that make a person. So, NEVER judge anyone. Even when you know a person for a lifetime, you may still not understand that person well. Given the human complexity, it is simply not possible to understand anyone correctly, and completely.

Psychiatrists and spiritual Masters tell us that we should not waste our time and energy in attempting to understand, thereby judge, anyone. It does not matter for how long you may know a person, or how deeply you think you understand him or her. It may be better to simply be with people, with no attempt to draw conclusions about them. Respect them for their being alive, not for what you think they are. In fact, the latter may be a mark of your arrogance, and thus a sure way to your spiritual downfall.

Jai Sai Ram!!

A young sage lived on the outskirts of a village. He was highly revered by the villagers and all those who passed his small hut. One day, an unmarried girl of the village got pregnant. She was beaten up by her relatives who demanded that she reveals the name of her man. The girl named the sage. With that the hell broke loose. A huge mob gathered outside the sage's hut.

At that time, the sage was deep in meditation. The angry crowd did not wait. They barged into his hut, dragged him out, and beat him up mercilessly. The sage did not speak a word. When the crowd got tired of beating him, they left him lying in dust. A young boy who used to serve the sage came to his rescue. He treated his wounds and helped him till he healed fully.

After some days, the girl could not bear her guilt. She went to the village panchayat and confessed that she had lied about the father of her child. She told them that the sage was innocent, but she named him to save her lover. The villagers felt remorseful. All gathered outside his hut again. They went in one by one, prostrated before him, and sought his forgiveness. They took him outside his hut with great respect, garlanded him, and repeatedly praised him. The sage was quiet again. He stood unfazed, with everyone at his feet. He did not speak a word. After sometime, the crowd dispersed and the sage resumed his meditation.

The boy who served the sage was surprised at his behaviour. He asked him, "Master, why were you silent on both the occasions. First they came and thrashed you. Then they came and worshipped you. What kept you quiet all the while?" The sage said, "I was the same all the time. Only they changed from time to time."

The sage fascinates me. His message is valuable. He chose to remain equanimous, both in times of public respect and abuse. He did not react, even if he had the reasons to do that on both the occasions. By staying that way, he remained above the whims and fancies of people. Both respect and disrespect, praise and criticism, love and hate were the same for him. The changing behaviour of people did not affect his inner peace and equilibrium. That is indeed a liberated way to live.

i want to paint..........
i said to my lord
colors and love on all the walls
i want to change this pale grey world..
to that in whose (creation)beauty i ll be doused(contented)

i look outside and see to my fear
not one life there is,but all concrete
tall building...and runty traffic...thriving
which have but only replaced the earthly life?

i told him
lord i ll buy some color...
and paint these forms
with green and brown
and spring some life
from none over here...
so we can contend
atleast for few years..

but he said to me
why look elsewhere...
when u have urself so very near
which is but much void of these hues
why dont u color ur self inside(within)
and let the light imbues out

SUNITA JI

It is really superb thoughts which everyone should read and understand.

We have gone through this and feel it is a test which has a unique method. In our own words, we put it that our holy father tests us his children till the time you are totallly drown the last breath when you you feel BABA where are you or give me strength to face it then he just pulls you out and really fondles us in his holy hands

JAI SAI RAM

Jai Sai Ram!!

Total surrender to Baba means dying to one's 'self'. This idea is wonderfully presented in this anonymous poem:

When you are forgotten, neglected, or purposely set at naught, and you don't sting or hurt with the oversight, but your heart is happy being counted worthy to suffer for Sai ;
That is dying to self.

When your good is evil spoken of, when your wishes are crossed, your advice disregarded, your opinion ridiculed, and you refuse to let anger rise in your heart or even defend yourself, but take it all in patient, loving silence;
That is dying to self.

When you lovingly and patiently bear any disorder, any irregularity, any annoyance; when you can stand face to face with waste, folly, extravagance, spiritual insensibility, and endure it as BABA did;
That is dying to self.

When you are content with any food, and offering, any climate, any society, any solitude, any interruption by the will of God;
That is dying to self.

When you never care to refer to yourself in conversation or record your own good works or itch after commendation; when you can truly love to be unknown;
That is dying to self.

When you can see your brother prosper and have his needs met, and can honestly rejoice with him in spirit and feel no envy, nor question God, while your own needs are far greater and you are in desperate circumstances;
That is dying to self.

When you can receive correction and reproof from one of less stature than yourself and can humbly submit, inwardly as well as outwardly, finding no rebellion or resentment rising up within your heart;
That is dying to self.

May Baba bless all with the ability to 'die' in true sense in order to win His grace!!

Baba asked many to remember His name and to surrender to Him. One who always engages himself in good actions, does his duties and surrender himself, heart and soul to Him, he need not then be afraid of anything. He who trusts Him entirely, hears and expounds His Leelas and does not think of anything else, is sure to attain Self-Realization. (Chapter xvii & xix Sri Sai Satcharitra ). Surrendering Unconditionally to the Almighty is one way of expressing our confidence in the Divine, for faith works wonders. May we develop such faith and confidence in our beloved SAI.

And when my voice is lost in death.
Praise shall employ my nobler powers;
My days of praise shall never be past,
While life, and thought, and being last,
Or immortality endures.

Happy the man whose hopes rely
On Baba Sai !! He made the sky,
And earth, and sea, with all their train;
His truth for ever stands secure;
He saves the oppressed, He feeds the poor,
And none shall find His promise vain.
I'll Praise My Maker While I've Breath.

Jai Sai Ram!!

Before God we are all equally wise and equally foolish. Thus wrote a thinker. Another one added: There is so much good in the worst of us, and so much bad in the best of us; that it hardly becomes any of us, to talk about the rest of us. These ideas about the inherent equality of humanity finds its spiritual equivalent in Sai Baba's life and teachings.

Baba treated everyone equally. Through His conduct and teachings, he set an example for us to break hierarchies that categorize people as us and them, higher and lower, better and worse, superior and inferior. In a caste, class, gender and religion ridden society like ours, Baba broke all the barriers that categorized humanity differentially. He challenged the hold of prejudices, biases and orthodoxies on human mind. For Him,, nobody was a favorite, none was an authority or more privileged than another. All were equal before our Master. Using His scale of love and compassion, Baba levelled all beings. Though Sai Satcharitra documents His special concern for some of His devotees, the fact remains that Baba never gave preferential treatment to anyone based on His likes or dislikes. He did not uphold favoritism, nepotism or elitism of any kind.

As His humble devotees, we need to introspect whether we are successfully following our Master in this respect. Are we trying to rise above our personal biases and prejudices, likes and dislikes? How much have we succeeded in becoming egalitarian, treating all equally? This introspection is necessary, otherwise we may be negating the very fundamentals of our dearest Master.

May Baba bless all His devotees with an ability to uphold equality!!

Jai Sai Ram!!

Pride, conceit, vanity. Call it by any name, this vice can blind even the most learned souls. In fact, knowledge has the potential to make one proud. All scriptures tell us that one should stay away from pride, because it has a sure fall. Just as rust corrodes iron, pride eats away the finest of spirits slowly.

The well-known stories of Ravana, Kamsa and Dhuryodhana show how pride brought down kingdoms. God intervened Himself to raze pride of learned kings to ground. Besides these, three other mythological stories about pride impress me much. The stories of Nachiketa, Bhakt Prahlad, and Bhakt Dhruv.

In Nachiketa's story, the child was scorned and cursed by a proud father. The kind and compassionate son tried to teach his father a lesson in generosity. Under the influence of pride that stood thus challanged, the father lost his mind. He cursed the child by giving him to Yama. The rest is a story of the child journeying to and from the Yama loka and earning God's grace.

In Bhakt Prahlad's story, the child challenged the arrogance of a father who had realized God once, thus had the boon of immortality under certain conditions. The son did not give up his devotion to Lord Vishnu even under the threats and punishments from his arrogant father. The rest is the story of the child's divine survival, and the father's death at the hands of an Avtaar of Lord Vishnu.

In Bhakt Dhruv's story, the child was ridiculed and harrassed by a proud step-mother who was jealous of the child. She broke his heart by denying him access to his father's lap. The child was directed by his own mother to worship God for His loving lap. The innocent child followed his mother's advice, went alone into a forest and worshipped Narayana. The rest is the story  about his hard penance, and how God manifested Himself to shower His love on the child.

In all these three stories, there are many lessons for us. The common thread running through all of them is that of the victory of innocent love over elderly conceit. All these remarkable devotees of God were much younger in age to their proud parents. We learn that in devotion and spiritual elevation, age really does not matter. Also, that elders should remain open to learn from their younger ones. Above all, the stories tell us to stay guarded against pride. Because, it surely brings the wrath of our divine Father, sooner or later.

Om Sri Sadguru Devaya Namah!!

My dearest Baba,

Yesterday, I followed your instruction strictly. You have said, “If you cannot endure abuse from another, just say a simple word or two, or else leave". I did precisely that in order to maintain peace on this blessed forum.

Baba you know all, and nothing is hidden from you. This is all your leela. I have been a mere instrument in your hands. You led me to this forum, and used me for some of your work. I am happy for that. As I hear from you now, I understand that the time has come for me to move on. But, before I take a temporary leave from this forum, I would like to submit some of my humble thoughts at your lotus feet. With all my respects for my dear Sai Bandhus who have listened to me kindly and patiently for around six months now:

We often project on others what lies in our own minds. In other words, we construct a reality that is the reflection of our own thoughts. So sometimes we tend to project on others what we think and feel ourselves. In other words, we look at others using our own perceptual lens, which may or may not be the accurate depiction of them. The mind may distort the real, or may deceive one in believing in things that may not really exist. This idea may be accepted by some, and rejected by others. Yet some others may uphold it, but only for others and not for themselves. This last category is my concern.

Any spiritual aspirant who has a gap between what he  preaches and does himself commits, what Bible calls, a ‘sin of hypocrisy’. The difference between one’s words and conduct shows that the aspirant has two standards. One for himself, and another for others. This duplicity has been regarded a sin because it involves a judgment of others, depending on one’s own mental projection and belief.  Glorifying oneself and condemning others based on one’s own judgment, scriptures say, is the worst kind of sin unacceptable to the ‘Judge’ of all.

So, when we judge others, using our own mental projections and draw conclusions about them, we stand the risk of being judged harshly by God Himself. He is watching us all the time. Any verdict that we pass on others may be wrong, and annoys Him the most. So, what should one do to avoid this sin ?

We need to be humble, and stay humble all the time. Humility is the best anti-dote to such mental delusions that construct a larger image of self and belittle others. When we brag and boast about ourselves and our spiritual blessings, we actually demean others who choose humility and don’t talk about their own.  And worse, we may draw unfair and wrong conclusions about them. In short, we may mistake their silence as our rightness. Nothing could be more hurtful to Baba than this.

With these humble  thoughts, I take leave of this forum.  It has been a wonderful experience to be on this blessed temple. Baba, kindly bless all my dear brothers and sisters whom I have come to love now. Hope I can make it back to this forum someday, if You so wish. Till then, take care of all my Bandhus. Please bless them with happiness, health and peace !!

I submit this topic at your lotus feet. Forgive me for any mistakes that I may have made unknowingly. Forgive me if I hurt someone unintentionally. Kindly overlook my imperfections dear Master..

Jai Sai Ram.

We will miss you dear Sunita ji in this blessed Dwarkamayi.

I can only think of this section from BhagavadGita..which is also my guideline ever since I learnt abt it. Certainly look fwd to seeing you back in Baba's blessed Mandir again.

Whatever happened, it happened for good.
Whatever is happening, is happening for good.
Whatever that will happen, it will be for good.
What have you lost for which you cry?
What did you bring with you, which you have lost?
What did you produce, which has destroyed?
You did not bring anything when you were born.
Whatever you have, you have received from Him.
Whatever you will give, you will give to Him.
You came empty handed and
you will go the same way.
Whatever is yours today was somebody else's yesterday and will be somebody else's tomorrow.
Change is the law of the universe.

May Baba Sai's blessings be on dear sister always!

Surrender means to yield ownership, to relinquish control over what we consider ours: our property, our time, our "rights."

When we surrender to God, we are simply acknowledging that what we "own" actually belongs to Him.

He is the giver of all good things.

We are responsible to care for what God has given us, as stewards of His property, but by surrendering to God, we admit that He is ultimately in control of everything, including our present circumstances.

Surrendering to God helps us to let go of whatever has been holding us back from God's best for our lives.

By surrendering to God, we let go of whatever has kept us from wanting God's ways first.

If we sit in a circle and put an object in the center of the circle and we all described what we saw, everyone would see different points of view from each other. Some would even see opposites because they would be sitting on opposite sides of the circle. In other words, you don't have to see what I see for you to be right. In fact, everyone in the circle is right based on their own point of view. If we are willing to listen to everyone's point of view, then we can get a more accurate description of the object in the center.

This is one way to put our minds together. When we get the clarity from each other, we should give thanks and be grateful to each other. ....Have a Fragrance full day always...

Everything is Possible With Baba's Help

Baba can help us accomplish a great task in a fraction of time. At times it could take a few hours to make an impossible task possible. But we should not conclude that God does not exist and should not stop our loving devotion to please Baba. Whatever we plead, Baba will never respond as, "nothing or not possible". He gives us an opportunity to discover and tap into our own potential. With complete faith in Baba, we must make our every little effort. In this attempt we understand that Baba is all-powerful and there is no work He cannot accomplish. We must only pray to Him with a pure heart to support our human effort.

It is with the blessings of Sri Ram that Hanuman could cross the vast ocean, which otherwise was an impossible task. Just by chanting Lord Rama's name, the monkey-army could easily lay a bridge across the great ocean.

Likewise, Baba will bridge the two ends of the abyss and help us cross over to safety. This abyss might be in the form of fear, agony or even the sea of worldly life. Nothing is impossible to Baba's will and He is capable of making the impossible, possible.

When Baba is with us, our efforts will be crowned with success. We should not think that a particular work is impossible. Like a shadow, Baba will follow at every step of those who repose faith in Him.

Om Sai Ram.

Nothing is permanent in this world. People change, relationships change, situations change, circumstances change. In this world of constant change, the only unchanging reality is Sai. People may leave you, forsake you, desert you, betray you, disappoint you, and let you down in countless ways. But, Baba Sai stands by you like a rock. Like a strong shield, Baba ever protects us from harm and troubles. He is loyal, faithful and dependable for those who take His refuge. When you are left helpless and vulnerable, remember Baba is besides you with an eagerness to wipe your tears of anguish and pain.

He knows each of your scars, and has the power to convert those into stars. Only He can change a victim into a victor, a loser into a winner. So, rely on Him. Have faith and patience to allow Him to work in your lives. Never doubt His merciful presence, never doubt His love, never doubt His reliability. He is truth, beauty and goodness incarnate; Sai is Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram. Where there is truth, beauty and goodness, how can there be grief, sorrow and suffering. So, turn your faces away from this illusory world, and face His radiant presence. With humility rest in His boundless love and grace. Praise, glory and vistory be to our Master!

Humbly yours...

I don't know but I differ with most of the genral perception.  I consider all HIS as mine because I feel that everything in this universe is created by HIM specially for me keeping me in HIS  mind.  I have been brought by HIM here as per my past Karmas to enjoy and live in HIS Kingdom.  If I had done good karma I will eat sweet fruit and if I had bad karmas in my account I will have to eat sour fruit in HIS Kingdom.

Does there any need arise for asking?  I don't think so.  But the real fight starts when instead of living here as custodian I start claiming everything as mine and gets attached to whatever is given to me and consider everything as mine.  Begging from HIM only arise when I think all HIS as separate from me.  Everything is interwooven here. Here whatever I need I have to work for it. HE is not going to give anything in alms without my doing any karmas.  If I want big house or a big car I have to work my way for it and work hard for it.  Even for any autosuggestion I have to be make myself capable of that suggestion.  HE has given us free will and I don't think we should ask for those from HIM which we can accomplish ourselves we ask for it from HIM.

Asking from HIM for anything I as single entity has to work for it.  I don't think my autosuggestion can bring me Mercedes. HE has given us free will.

"You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye." (Holy Bible)

Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary:

"We must judge ourselves, and judge of our own acts, but not make our word a law to everybody. We must not judge rashly, nor pass judgment upon our brother without any ground. We must not make the worst of people. Here is a just reproof to those who quarrel with their brethren for small faults, while they allow themselves in greater ones. Some sins are as motes, while others are as beams; some as a gnat, others as a camel. Not that there is any sin little; if it be a mote, or splinter, it is in the eye; if a gnat, it is in the throat; both are painful and dangerous, and we cannot be easy or well till they are got out. That which charity teaches us to call but a splinter in our brother's eye, true repentance and godly sorrow will teach us to call a beam in our own. It is as strange that a man can be in a sinful, miserable condition, and not be aware of it, as that a man should have a beam in his eye, and not consider it; but the god of this world blinds their minds. Here is a good rule for reprovers; first reform thyself."

"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts" (Isaiah 55:9, Holy Bible).

Every person has things they're believing for, situations they want to see changed, and dreams God has placed in their hearts. But sometimes, we try to figure out how it's all going to happen. If we're not careful, we'll put God in a box and try to tell Him how to do it, when to do it, and where to do it. Scriptures tell us that God's ways are not our ways. They are higher and better than our ways.

If you don't get your way, if things don't happen on your timetable, instead of getting discouraged, why don't you believe that God has something better in store? Just because it doesn't happen your way doesn't mean it's not going to happen. Remember, God has a plan. He's got it all figured out. Don't limit Him by trying to get it done your way. Instead, simply say, "God, I'm trusting You. I know You have my best interest at heart. And even if I don't get my way, I'm going to stay open and believe that You're still directing my steps into the abundant life You have for me."

Baba, I choose to trust You. I cast my cares on You. Thank You for working behind the scenes on my behalf. Give me Your peace as I wait patiently to see Your plan unfold.

Om Sai Ram.

Love alone rules the world. Love is holy, selfless, stain-free and love with integrity and simplicity is the form of God. Human heart is as vast as the Universe. When we churn the human heart, what results in is the golden chalice of ambrosia of love. The love a mother showers on her child and the love God rains on His devotees are too sweet to be savoured. It cannot be explained in plain words. Our true love is expressed, without expecting anything in return, for those whose faces we want to see glow in joy and they prosper and be peaceful. God's love is, indeed, true love.

What can we give as a gift to Baba who is the very embodiment of Divine Love?

Pure love for Baba is the flower one can offer at His Feet. There are several people in this world who are needy, orphaned, handicapped and suffering from dreaded diseases. Providing the needy with desired help at appropriate time is the true love we can express for Baba. Visiting old-age homes, hospitals and offering food, sweets and other gifts may provide a short-time solace for them. But, the love and concern with which we care for and serve the helpless and the sick is like a cool breeze in hot summer. The service rendered with love to the society will be blessed by Baba and we will be led on the right path to reach Baba's Feet of Felicity.

Om Sai Ram.

"Laugh, and the world will laugh with you. Cry, and you will have to cry alone". Thus spoke some wise sage. By making His devotees pass through unbearable suffering, Baba brings forth this unsettling truth about human relationships. He shows us how unreal and temporary human love is. And, how unlikely it is to find selfless and everlasting love in this world. Human love is conditional and selfish. God's love is unconditional and selfless. Seek Him, not people. People invariably forsake us one day through betrayal, separation or death.

Your life is a learning process - you can only become wiser from learning.

Sometimes you might have to attract making a painful mistake to learn something important, but after the mistake you have far greater wisdom.

Wisdom cannot be bought with money - it can only be acquired through living life.

With wisdom comes strength, courage, knowing, and an ever-increasing peace.

May our Baba Sai bless us all with  such  wonderful wisdom.

There are two words that, when spoken, have the most unfathomable power to completely change your life.

Two words that, when they pass your lips, will be the cause of bringing absolute joy and happiness to you.

Two words that will create miracles in your life, wipe out negativity, and bring you abundance in all things.

Two words that, when uttered and sincerely felt, will summon all the forces in the Universe to move all things for you.

There are just two words standing between you, happiness, and the life of your dreams . . .

THANK YOU.

May  we continue to say "Thank you " to our Baba Sai for all His wonderful blessings  and the joy He gives us everyday.

Natural Joy

It is possible to be happy and joyful most of the time.

You just have to look at little children and see their natural joy.

You may say that little children are free and don't have anything to worry about, but you are free too!

You are free to choose worry or to choose joy, and whatever you choose will attract exactly that.

Worry attracts more worry. Joy attracts more joy.

Let us  not think of our Baba Sai only during worry but we should thank Him during our Joy.

Thanks Baba Sai.... ;D for everything

Faith
Every religion on the planet has told us to have FAITH.

Faith is when you cannot see how, but you absolutely know that the moment you have the dream it is given to you, and all you have to do is relax and allow the Universe to magnetize you to your dream and your dream to you.

May the joy be with you. What really happened was you didn't think any thoughts or speak any words which contradicted what you wanted, so the law of attraction was able to do its work.

May our Baba Sai bless us all to have more Faith on Him always!

Thanks Baba Sai  ;D for everything

To allow the Universe to move you in your life to happier and better things, you are going to need to look around you and appreciate the good things here and now.

Seek the beautiful things and count the blessings of where you are.

Dissatisfaction will not bring the happier and the better into your life.

Dissatisfaction roots you to the spot where you currently are, but appreciation for what you have attracts the happier and better to you.

Remember that you are a magnet! Appreciation attracts appreciation!

Lets us always practice to appreciate others and I pray Baba to bless me to practice the same.

JaiSaiRam... ;D Thanks Baba for everything...

Tears convey more than what words can ever say…

In resolving conflict how you say it, is as important as what you say...

To be kind is more important than to be right…sometimes what a person needs is not a brilliant mind that speaks but a patient heart that listens… have a wonderful day…

Look out for one another’s interests not just your own… God expects you to make the move…

Humility is not thinking less of you… it is thinking yourself less…

Speaking loudly is to disturb others. Don't say," My voice is like that." You can become the conquerors of Maya and yet you can't become the conqueror of your own voice! So don't speak wasteful words or words that disturb others.

The power of your intention
You create your future with the power of your intention. Intention is simply the conscious act of determining your future now. Health, harmony in relationships, happiness, money, creativity, and love will come to you in the future, based on your intentions now.
Intend every day and create your future life.
Baba Sai bless us all with healthy intention always...

Giving opens up the door to receiving. You have so many opportunities to give every day.

Give kind words. Give a smile. Give appreciation and love. Give compliments. You can give courtesy to other motorists while you are driving. You can give a smile to the car parking attendant. You can give a warm greeting to the newspaper stand person or the person who makes your coffee. You can give by allowing a stranger to go ahead of you into an elevator, and you can give by asking which floor they are going to and pressing the button for them. If someone drops something you can give a helping hand and pick it up for them. You can give warm embraces to those you love. And you can give appreciation and encouragement to everyone.

There are so many opportunities for you to give and thereby open the door to receiving.

May our Baba Sai bless us all with such opportunity to help others!

Good in all that Exists

Good is underneath every single thing that appears to be negative.

If we can know that good is all there is, including in a negative situation,

then we will see a negative situation transform into all good.

Most people keep the good away from themselves because they label something as bad, and then, of course,

that becomes their reality.

But there is no bad in the Universe; it is just our inability to see things clearly from the bigger perspective.

Peace comes from knowing that good is all that exists.

May Baba Sai bless us all.

SaiRam...

Peace is found within but not outside.
We are peaceful beings but external situations pull us away from our peace if we let them. When there is not a very positive situation that we are confronted with, we need to save ourselves from the pull of the outside situation and rely on the peace within. Every morning practice being a peaceful being who is totally in charge of yourself. When you make this practice firm when difficult situations do come you will be able to rely more on your internal peace instead of getting carried away by the external situations
Baba Sai bless us with peace and harmony always... JaiSaiRam :)

Decide

Decide that this day will be productive and consequential, and it will be.

Decide to rise above the petty distractions, and you’re already on your way.

Decide that there are valuable opportunities in the challenges, and you’ll find those opportunities.

Decide to make a positive difference, and you’ll have what is necessary to do so.

There are many factors in life over which you have no direct control.

And yet even with those things, you can decide how to handle them.

Decide to live and work and play from a perspective of love and gratitude.

Decide to greet each day, each moment, and each new situation with a determination to

make the world a better place.

Life is a continuous series of choices.

Decide where you want those choices to lead, and put yourself on your own path to fulfillment.

When you know what you desire, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to bring it about.

Decide to live the very best life you can imagine, and delight in making it happen. :)

ASK FOR EVERYONE

When you pray everyday... Pray to Sai for everyone. :)

When you ask for happiness and a beautiful life, ask not just for you, but for everyone.

When you ask for something better, ask not just for you, but for everyone.

By all means ask for abundance and health for you, but also ask for it to be given to everyone.

May our Baba Sai bless us all to have such thoughts always!

Just as the bird has to let go of the branch in order to fly, in the same way we also need to let go to experience and express love.

The branches we hold on to are... our attachments (people and objects). When we mentally hold on to something or someone, we open ourselves to feel fear, pain, anger and possessiveness.

Love is about letting go and letting others be. It's about appreciating and accepting without dependency and expectation.

May our Baba Sai bless us all.

Volumes have been written on the human mind. What does it mean? How does it work? etc. But, for all practical purposes, we know that our thought is our mind. Our thoughts are the building blocks of our life. Our thought determines what we are, and what we shall be in the future..

Our mind has two parts:-

1. Conscious mind, 2. Unconscious mind.
Our mind is like an iceberg in the ocean. We know that out of ten, only one part of the iceberg is visible and nine tenth of it is under water. Similarly, the large part of our mind known as the subconscious is hidden from our conscious mind. Only a very small part of it is known to us. This is our conscious mind.
There is a great secret in it. This small part - the conscious mind, can control and mould the whole of the unconscious mind. All saints and sages of the world have proved this fact. They tell that what we think intensely and constantly for a sufficiently long time, enters into our conscious mind and makes the necessary changes. What our unconscious mind accepts, that we feel and what we feel, that we become. If you feel like Buddha, you become Buddha. If you feel like Christ, you shall become Christ.

Thus, we find that our thoughts make or mar our life. Our mind is our greatest friend and greatest enemy also. It is the cause of our bondage as well as our liberation....

A Light of Hope

You swing in God's lap; lost in love and remembrance , it is as if you merge into his lap, merge into God's remembrance and become lost in His love. This spiritual love enables you, in a second, to forget the pain and sorrow of many births.

Human souls today experience of elevated attainment but for a short time only. The happiness may be through people or through possessions. The temporary happiness changes into worry which means that possessions and people do not remove worry, but become the instruments to create worry. Contact even for a short time with souls who have good wishes for others becomes a support and a means to remove innumerable worries.

Good Wishes For Others Makes A Positive Effect !
Today there is a need for souls who have good wishes for others. Therefore you jewels who have good wishes for others are extremely loved by the world. To have pure thoughts is the special basis needed to become the one who conatlantly has good wishes for others.  If sometimes there are wasteful thoughts, or waste thoughts about others then you cannot be the ones who have constant good wishes for others.

"It is not good to dispute and argue. So, don't argue, don't emulate others".

" If anyone does any evil unto you, do not retaliate. If you can do anything, do some good unto others."

"Friends and foes were alike to Him. Disinterested and balanced, He obliged the evil-doers as well as the pious."

"He was the same in Prosperity and adversity."
