God is one, but he has innumerable forms.

He is the creator of all and He himself takes the human form.

When you are scared or confused

and you don't know what to do

and you don't know where to turn

always remember this:

Sorrow looks back,

Worry looks around,

Faith looks up.

Yesterday is but a dream and tomorrow is only a vision,

but today well-lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness

and every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Live this day and live it  well....

An Iron curtain might be a blokade for a long time.  You might not have expressed your love and gratitude for years.  let your curtain of inhibition drop right away this very moment.  Reach out; express yourself wholeheartedly, for you may not know what the next moment holds in store.

There can be no beauty where there is misery;

There can be nothing but ugliness where there is selfishness;

there cannot be violence or hatred where there is Love.

Love is Beauty, Bliss Absolute and Baba is Beauty, Love and Truth.

Baba is the embodiment of Love because he knows only to give without

asking for anything in return.

This is true Selflessness, the force that binds mortals to mortals

and mortals to immortals.

JAI SAI RAM!!!

If you sincerely desire to have a guru to guide your spiritual progress, and if that is what is most appropriate for you, then you will certainly find one. However, don’t feel you need to put your spiritual growth on hold until you find someone. You can find the guidance you need right now through meditation. Also, be open to receiving knowledge from your experience and observations in nature. The whole cosmos is your teacher. All you need to do is learn to listen.

AVATHARAPURUSHA

The devotees of Sai Baba are believing that Sai Baba is Avathara Purusha. Once Baba said to His devotees "Be stay wherever you like, do whatever you chose, remember this well - that all what you do is known to me. I am the Inner Ruler of all and seated in their hearts. I envelope all the creatures, the movables and immovable world, I am the controller – the wire puller of this Universe. I am the Mother – Origin of all beings – the Harmony of three Gunas, the propeller of all senses, the creator, preserver and distroyer. Nothing will harm him, who turns his attention towards Me. But Maya will lash or whip him who forgets Me. All the insects, ants, the visible, movable and immovable world, is my body or form.

One day Baba was sitting as usual in the Dwarakamayi (In the year 1910).

Instead of pushing logs of wood in the ever burning Dhunif He pushed His arm into it, unmindful of burning of His arm to save a black smith's child, who slipped into the furnace at a far off place.

Is it not an indication of His Omni presence and bhaktaseva?

Once Mrs. Tarkhad, a close devotee of Baba, gives a piece of bread to a hungry dog before going to Dwarkamayi for the noon arati. Baba was pleased with this act of the lady and said to her, "Mother you have fed me sumptuously upto my throat, my afflicted pranas have been satisfied. First give bread to the hungry and then eat yourself.

The dog which you saw before meals and to which you gave bread is one with me so also other creatures (cats, pigs, flies etc.,) are one with me.

I am roaming in their forms. He who sees me in all creatures is my beloved. (Chap IX).

On another occasion Baba called Laxmibai Shindle and said "oh! Laxmi I am very hungry"

She immediately ran to her house prepared bread and vegetable and brought it to the Masjid.

Baba who was very hungry gave it to a dog.

When Laxmibai was unhappy to see that Baba did not eat her bread, Sai said to her, "The appeasement of the dog's hunger is the same as Mine.

The dog has got a soul as Mine.

The creatures may be different but the hunger of all is the same. He who feeds the hungry, really serves me with food.

Regard this as axiomatic truth".

How wonderfully Baba has taught us, His children, to see Him in all creatures?

Hence they get what they want and are grateful.

Shirdi Baba:

He was the common man's God.

He lived with them, he slept and ate with them.

Baba had a keen sense of humour.

He shared a 'chillum' (clay pipe for smoking)

indiscriminately with them to write off the cast

superiority and orthodoxy in their minds.

He had no pretensions of any kind .

He was always very playful in the presence of children.

Baba used to feed the fakirs and devotees and even cook for them.

To the devotees of Sai Baba, Dwarkamai is one of the treasures of Shirdi.

The spirit of tolerance, acceptance and welcome for all is very much alive.

Baba has said that merely going inside the mosque will confer blessings, and the experiences of devotees confirm this.

Sai Baba respected all religions and creeds, and all had free access to the mosque.

It is typically unique of Sai Baba that he regarded a place of worship – the mosque – as a mother.

He once told a visitor, “Dwarkamai is this very mosque.

She makes those who ascend her steps fearless.

This masjidmayi is very kind.

Gurusthan means “place of the Guru”.

It is both where Baba spent most of His time when He first came to Shirdi,

and also where, according to Baba, the tomb of His own Guru is located by the neem tree.

Gurusthan is therefore One of the most important places in Shirdi..

From underneath the NEEM tree there is an underground tunnel or passage

leading to the place of Dwarkamai as told by an old lady.

Once when some villagers were digging the foundations for Sathe Wada

just behind the neem tree, they came across some bricks in the soil

and what looked like the opening of a tunnel.

Uncertain whether to proceed or not, they asked Baba what they should do.

He told them that this was the site of the tombs of His ancestors and

that it would be better not to disturb them.

There are several references to Baba’s Guru recorded in the literature,

but they are somewhat enigmatic, and it is not clear whether

He was referring to a Guru in His present lifetime, or a previous one.

The first thing that catches the devotee’s eye at Gurusthan is the huge neem tree.

This tree gave shelter to Baba for a few years when He stayed beneath it.

Neem has many medicinal properties, though its leaves are notoriously bitter.

However, some people once reported that the leaves of one of the branches tested sweet.

For them it was a sign of Baba’s grace; others see it as evidence of the tree’s exceptional sanctity.

Baba's Chavadi

Though apparently and formally Baba used to go to the Chavadi,

in His super conscious HE was never asleep and used to tell

HIS devotees that in HIS everlasting awareness (consciousness)

HE will always protect HIS devotees who were asleep at night.

Chavadi means “village office”, and was the place where taxes were collected,

village records kept and visiting officials put up.

After Baba’s mahasamadhi the Sansthan acquired Chavadi,

and until the late 1930s, used it for storing books and accommodating pilgrims.

The village offices have long been relocated and

Chavadi is kept as a shrine to Baba and is open to all.

Sai Baba is intimately connected with this place,

as he used to sleep here on alternate nights,

during the last decade of his life.

The routine was started one wild and stormy night, around 1909.

It was raining heavily, and water was coming through the leaky walls of the mosque.

The devotees tired their best to persuade Baba to move out,

if only until the water had subsided, but Baba did not want to go.

Eventually, they virtually forced him to leave,

by picking him up and half-carrying him to Chavadi.

From that day on, Baba would spend alternate nights here.

Turning Water into Oil

Sai Baba was very fond of lights. He used to borrow oil from shop-keepers, and keep lamps burning the whole night in the Masjid and temple. This went on for some time.

The Banias, who supplied oil gratis, once met together and decided not to give Him oil. When, as usual, Baba went to ask for oil, they all gave Him a distinct No. Unperturbed, Baba returned to the Masjid and kept the dry wicks in the lamps.

The banias were watching Him with curiosity.

Baba took the Tumrel (tin pot) which contained very little (a few drops) of oil, put water into it and drank it and forced it fall in the container.

After consecrating the tin-pot in this way, He again took water in the tin-pot and filled all the lamps with it and lighted them.

To the surprise and dismay of the watching Banias, the lamps began to burn and kept burning the whole night.

The Banias repented and apologized. Baba forgave them and asked them to be more truthful in future.

Under normal circumstances Baba would never even change his kufni daily, let alone wear such glittering and rich clothes.

When the kufni got torn, Baba would take a thorn, and making a hole in it for the eye, patiently use it as a needle to stitch up the holes during the afternoons when he was free.

If any devotee presented him with a new kufni, he would refuse it and say, “An old kufni is good enough for this poor fakir.”

When it got too bedraggled, Tatya would come and sit with Baba, and talking of this and that, would say, “Why Baba, your kufni is indeed badly torn.”

He would slyly insert his fingers into the holes and wriggling them around would make the holes so big that further repair was impossible.

Baba would notice this, and shouting at Tatya would burn his old kufni in the dhuni and wear the new one.

Sometimes he would repair the big holes made by Tatya and wear the old one again.

Learn the art of patience. Apply discipline to your thoughts when

they become anxious over the outcome of a goal.

Impatience breeds anxiety, fear, discouragement and failure.

Patience creates confidence, decisiveness and a rational outlook,

Many people used to have doubts about Baba's transcendental powers. One day, the birth anniversary of Dattatreya was to be celebrated in the month of Margasirsha (9th month of the Hindu calendar) on Panchami (fifth day of the lunar calendar). Several devotees had assembled in Shirdi. Among them was a wealthy man, a great scholar called Kaijack. He is not to be confused with "highjack"! His name was Balmant Kaijack. As he was approaching the masjid, Baba took his stick and marked it at the devotees, asking them to get away. He even beat some of them, shouting, "Saitan! Saitan!". No one could understand why Baba was behaving like this. "I am suffering labour pains. Get away, all of you!" He shouted. In those days, Baba not only used to shout at people, but also wield the stick on them on occasions. He even used to throw the stick at fleeing persons. Everyone used to be afraid of Him. They all left the place. Sometime later, He called all of them to come. "Balmant Kaijack, come!" He said. When Balmant came, Baba went inside the masjid. Balmant went in and found that Baba was not there. He found a three-headed baby on the floor. Baba had declared that He was suffering from labour pains and there was a baby there. The three headed child appeared to represent Dattatreya. It was a small baby with a number of hands. Balmant recognised the child as Dattatreya and called other devotees to come inside. They went in and on seeing the child closed their eyes. At that instant Baba reappeared there. From that time onwards, people started looking upon Baba as the incarnation of Dattatreya.

A controversy arose among the local people as to whether Baba was a Muslim or a Hindu. At one time he used to say: "Allah Malik! Allah Malik!" At other times, he would say, "Dattatreya Malik!" Whenever he shouted "Allah Malik!" Muslims used to come to him in the masjid. His appearance was very much like that of a Muslim. Hence, many Muslims used to come to him. Hindus also used to come and offer incense to Him. The Muslims did not approve of what the Hindus were doing. The Hindus did not like the way Muslims revered Baba. Consequently, bitterness developed between the two communities.

When anyone enters this Dwarakamaayi,

his goal will be achieved.

This place is for serving people,

 but not for killing them.

If one perpetually thinks of Me,

and makes Me his sole refuge,

I am his debtor and will give My heart to save him.

If one dwells on Me in his mind and will not even taste food before

offering it to Me, I am his slave.

One's good behaviour will save him.

Act with scruples and truthfulness.

That will be the protection of God for you.

God does not like the evildoers.

Evildoers do not like the God.

It is to be noted that Baba referred to God as Allah, Ram, Datta etc.

and Himself as God's agent, though on occasions He declared,

"I am Allah, 1 am Vital, I am Datta" and He manifested Himself

as Rama, Krishna, Siva, Maruti, Vittal etc.

to different persons to demonstrate His identity with God in His different aspects.

Shraddha

'Shraddha' is a Sanskrit word, which roughly means faith with love and reverence.
