How Saibaba was introduced in the South?

  • Sairam! People of South are greatly indebted to Shri B.V.Narasima Swamiji for his monumental and onerous work of introducing Saibaba to the households here. Prior to that only a handful might have heard about Baba. Though he was a prominent advocate in Salem in Tamilnadu and member of the local bodies and some times as the Chairman of Panchayat Board, he was not after name and fame. He was an humble devotee  who had a loving family with two sons. Sometimes every one has to meet the stark realities of Life. As fate has decreed, both his sons died in an accidental fall in a well. No doubt, his personal life was shattered with this grief. But God was willing otherwise. He developed supreme detachment from the family life and left his home and family in search of Truth. He was wandering here and there seeking solace from Realized souls like Bagawan Ramana Maharishi and stayed with him in Thiruvannamalai seeking to know from Ramana whether He is his spiritual mentor. Shri Ramana told him "NO". Your Guru is somewhere in the West but he too has not clarified it further. After staying with Ramana and writing a beautiful book on Ramana, Shri B.V.Narasimha Swamy left the place seeking his Master. In the course of his wanderings, he heard about one mysterious Sai Baba who was living in Shirdi once but took Mahasamadhi. Somewhere during 1930s Shri Narasimha Swamy reached Shirdi and he required a sign whether Saibaba is his preceptor and Guru? He mentally made a test on Sai. There was a sparrow on a tree. If Saibaba is his real Guru, the sparrow should sit on my shoulder was the prayer of Narasimha. Instantaneously, the sparrow dashed towards his shoulder and stood on his shoulder. Tears welled up in the eyes of Narasimha. He decided that he would devote his entire life for the propagation of Saibaba! Thus a great moment has come and a grand movement has started flowering. Soon a small platform in the name of "All India Sai Samaj" was inaugurated in Chennai(Mylapore) A small temple leading to the worship of Sai started in the South which enabled many to come to Sai in the South. Sairam, Sayipriya.
