  •  MUKULA MUDRA or SAMANA MUDRA

Samanada mudra is also called Mukula Mudra. The formation of this mudra resembles a bud - Mukula in sanskrit.
Hence this mudra is called Mukula mudra. All elements get equal importance in this mudra, hence it is also called Samana - even mudra.
Formation: All the fingers get equal importance with the Agni and they get balanced. This mudra seems to be simple and is quite effective.
Benefits: When this mudra is placed on the tense or hurting part of the body, it gets relief immediately. It is like directing the energy to a specific part, so one feels instantly rejuvenated. It is like a sharp focus of healing energy, like a laser beam or a shaft of light which is directed to the area of concern. This mudra is an effective healing tool.
The electro magnetic forces generated when the five fingers come together is tremendous and that brings about the balance of all the elements.
The science of mudras states that balanced health can be attained if this mudra is performed for at least for 15 minutes a day.

  •  JNANA MUDRA

Jnana Mudra balances Vayu in our body and steadies the mind.
Formation:   This mudra is formed by joining together the tips of the thumb and the index finger.
Effect: Vayu causes movements and thoughts. Agni is related to the brain. When the tips of the index finger and the thumb join together the Vayu gets stablized. Vayu and Agni together control the mind. That is why this mudra is called Jnana Mudra-Mudra of WISDOM.
At the top of the thumb lie the points of the endocrine glands ,Pituitary and Pineal. Performing this mudra balances their secretion.
Pituitaru Gland: This gland controls air and space in the body. This is the king of all glands. So it sends orders to all other glands. This gland controls will power, sight, hearing, memory and sense of discrimination.
(Please read Pittuitary rpt Pituitary gland)
Pituitary controls the growth of the body. An overworked pituitary gland makes people physically big in size. While an underworked Pituitary may result in making them smaller in size.
This gland also governs the growth of  the  mind-brain. This gland may be damaged due to fear, injury or tension during pregnancy, leading to malfunctioning of the other glands and that in turn, could result in giving birth to mentally retarded children. An improper functioning of this gland tends to make people mean, liars and bullies.
As Pituitary and Pineal glands are situated in the heart, it is harmful to hit the children on head.
When Pituitary gland is predominant it helps people to become great genuises, eminent literary men, poets, scientist, philosophers and lovers of mankind.
                 (pineal gland...to be contd...)

  •  NAMASTE - SYMBOL OF INDIAN CULTURE

The gesture of 'Namaste' is essentially Indian. It is the symbol of greeting from ancient times.
The literal meaning of Namaste is  - 'Namah' bow 'te-to-you - I bow to you.
Namaste represents the belief that there is  a divine spark within each of us that is located at the heart Chakra.
This salutation is the essence of our culture of seeing the divine within all the creation. Hence this gesture is offered equally in emple to deities, teachers, family, friends, strangers and even before sacred rivers and trees.
Formation:  To perform 'Namaste' we join the hands together and place at the heart Chakra, close the eyes and bent the head.
Namaste also can be done by placing the hands together in front of the third eye between the brows, bowing the head and then bringing the hands down to the heart. This is the deep form of respect.
Namaste needs no occasion. It can be performed anywhere, any time and at any place. This gesture is used prominently in worship.
Effect: Namaste is a Mudra that is rich in flavour, meaning  and substance. The Electro magnetic power flowing from one hand to other is felt strongly. One feels strong in body and mind.
As we bring our hands together at the centre, we are literally connecting the right and left hemispheres of our brain. This is the yogic process of uniication. The Namaste brings the right and left side, masculine and feminine, logic and intution, strength and tenderness together as a whole.
Benefit:  This mudra frees us from the bonds of ego and makes us humble and pleasant. We feel strong in body and mind as this mudra removes fear and headache.
Namaste is uplifting. It gives a sense of gratefulness and waiting to receive blessings of good things to come.

  •  Therapeutic Mudras:

Mudras are also used daily in therapy. Such Mudras are to be praactised for not less than 50 minutes a day followed by the Pran Mudra for 15 minutes. Therapeutic mudras can be practised as many times as possible till the health is restored. But, the duration must be a minimum of 50 minutes per day, so that the proportion of elements gets changed and the health is restored gradually. After health has been restored, these mudras are to be discontinued. Therapeutic mudras decrease the elements.

All Therapeutic mudras are to be followed by Pran Mudra. For example:
    :
To control diabetes - Apan Mudra is to be followed by Pran Mudra.   For curing paralysis, parkinsons, joint pain, arthiritis, spondylitis, Vayu mudra is to be followed by Pran Mudra.  For controlling blood pressure Vyan Mudra is to be practised (50 minutes for 2-3 times a day) followed by Pran Mudra 15 minutes each

If one cannnot perform therapeutic mudras for 50 minutes at a time, then they can practise them in 3 parts - 15 minutes each, 3 times a day, followed by Pran Mudra 5 minutes each.

    Optional Mudras for daily practice
Akash Mudra - for providing calcium and during meditation.  Varun Mudra -- For acquiring a glowing skin and balancing moisture in the body.
These mudras to be practised for 10 minutes daily.
Mudras may be practised as per one's own schedule or they can be practised as and when time permits. They can also be performed one after the other.

A sample daily routine for practising Mudras:
Begin the day with a glass of water (magnetised if you wish). Then sit in front of the Tulsi plant and do OMKAR recitation for 15 times. Tulsi gives the highest Oxygen in the morning and OMKAR recitation is a form of pranayama. Perform Jnana Mudra while chanting OMKAR. Omkar can be practised as follows:
Make  the A sound for 1 second, the U for 2 seconds and MMM for 4 seconds. This way carbondioxide is continuously cleared from the lungs. Then breathe in so that lungs are filled with oxygen from Tulasi.
Then have morning tea. Later, whenever you get time perform Prithvi Mudra for 10 minutes. After lunch Vayu mudra for 10 minutes followed by Apan Mudra for digestion (or Apan+ vayu mudra together). In the evening perform Dyan mudra for 10 minutes while praying. At night practice Pran Mudra. This could even be done while watching TV or listening to music or before going to bed.
