  •  Mudras  in the present context
     
       Mudras are an excellent alternative therapy; Mudras are not only therapeutic but also prevent ailments. They are very effective; Modern medicines can be double edged swords. They hav an immediate impact but can have side effects too. They are very expensive, whereas Mudra therapy is cost free; Mudras are natural, simple and gentle. They are miraculous; Though Mudra is a delicate therapy, we can regain our health without very difficulty; There is no medication in Mudras. Therefore there is no reaction of chemicals; There are no ultra sophisticated instruments involved; Mudras can be performed by self so they are independent. We need not depend on anybody for treatment; Mudras being universal they can be performed anywhere and any time and by anybody; Mudras cure all kinds of illnesses simple or serious; By performing Mudras one can utilize time profitably and can attain radiant health; Mudras help who are entirely new to it.They help young children and even insane people so the question of belief does not arise; Mudras can help semi conscious or unconscious people. Rubber bands can be used to maintain thumbs and fingers in specific positions; Many doctors and researchers have approved Mudras and they have faith in this technique.(Health at your fingertips by Dr.Dhiren Gala). Everyone needs to practise Mudras with open mind. Mudras seem to be simple; but then so are all the basic things in life. Aren't they?

  • Mudras add to facial beauty
     
             In the case of some Mudras, performing them with the right hand, have a positive effect on the left side and vice versa. For wexample, there is only one artery that supplies pure blood to both sides of the body. When we perform Vayu Mudra with the right hand, the flow of blood within this artery gets redirected to the left side and thus helping reduce the pain in the knee joint of the left side.
             Life is beautiful and one needs the proper attitude to realise it. Mudras like Gyan Mudra, Prithvi Mudra and Prana Mudra help in building a positive attitude.
             Some Mudras like the Shoonya Mudra (performed to combat the effects of Vertigo) and Apaan-Vayu Mudra(to combat the effects of heart attack) produce the dsired effect with great speed while other Mudras show their efficacy gradually but definitely.
              Knowledge of Mudras can prove to be of immense help in the progress and protection of the entire human race.

  • All Comprehensive Mudras
     
             According to the renowned researcher Acharya Keshav Deo, discoveries made thousands of years ago by our Rishis and Yogis are being found to be true.
             Mudras try to achieve harmony at individual level and universal level; Mudras have very extra ordinary powers. The practice of Mudras bring about a quick and fundamental reversion of destructive changes in the human body. They develop virtuous,socially amicable nonviolent,pious and courteous disposition.
    Mudras are universal in application. They will benefit all who practise them. There are numerous Mudras that are performed during worship, Yogasanas and Bandhas. The science of Mudras is very exact and perfect. Like the universe our body is composed of five elements. A balance among these five elements brings good health while an imbalance causes disease. By the practice of mudras an element in the body can be increased/decreased to bring it to an optimal level. The optimal level of the element in the body indicates health and happiness. Excess or deficiency of the element induces sickness. Specifically, the practice of mudras can bring about substantial change in the tendons,arteries and glands. Mudras are like yogic injection and yogic tranquiliser. Some of the mudras can balance an element within the body in 45 minutes or less, whereas some other Mudras have an immediate effect Practising mudras regularly can cure sleeplessness, arthiritis,memory loss, heart problems, impaired hearing, gray hair, incurable infections, blood pressure, diabetes, congested chess and many more ailments.

  •  Therapeutic Mudras
     
              Daily practice of 6 Mudras to be performed for 10 minutes. They are Jnana,Prithvi,Apana,Prana,Dhyana and Vayu - by which diseases can be prevented. All should perform these Mudras every day.
               When Mudras are performed for therapy they have to be performed for 50 minutes. One can perform these Mudras several times if time permits. When the disease is controlled then Mudras are to be discontinued. Therapeutic Mudras are followed by Prana Mudra.
              Linga Mudra is to be performed only for 15 minutes at a time.

  •   Chanting of Mantras
     
              We can chant any one of these Mantras while performing Mudras. According o Mudra Science Mudras and Mantas together haved a better influence on the body and mind.
             1. Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha, 2. Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya, 3. Om Shree Laxmi Narayanabhyam Namah, 4. Om Uma Mahaeshwarabhyam Namah, 5. Om Shree Seetaramabhyam Namah, 6. Om Shree Ram Jayaram Jaya Jaya Ram, 7. Om Surya Narayanaya Namah, 8. Om Pundarikakshaya Namah, 9. Om Maha Vishnave Namah, 10. Om Shivayai Namah, 11. Om Dhana Dhanya Vivardhinai Namah, etc etc
     
           (Please Note: You have to chant only one of the above mantras while performing mudras)

  •   Significance of Mudras
     
           Through preseverance in meditation and contemplation, the Rishis and Yogis made innumerable discoveries. They could awaken Kundalini power and acquired vitality. They also achieved clairvoyance, clairaudience and telepathy. They perceived the cosmic sound, formed thirty-three alphabets of Sanskrit language and realised the vibrations in the body. Accordingly they composed Mudras and Mudras for physical,mental and spiritual well-being.
         Nature was their laboratory. They realised that there are innumerable species in nature but among them the man is unique in many aspects. He can think, express his ideas, can rediscover the higher planes of spirit hidden within him. The discriminative faculty - the intellect is the rarest gift of nature to man

              Man's constitution is based on a particular balance of five fundamental vital elements, five winds (air) - Prana, Apana, Udana, Samana and Vyana and three Doshas - Kapha, Vata and Pitta.
               Man is not only the mind-body but also emotions and desires. Therefore the Rishis and Yogis designed Dharma - the set of ethical rules that would complete the process of his evolution in a profound manner. To aid in adherence of Dharma, they combined Mudras and Mantras with:
            worship, the performance of Sandhya Vandan at dawn and dusk and Japa - the repetition of the divine name of God.

            Fatigue: Prana Mudra/Surya Mudra, Fear - Jnana Mudra + Prana Mudra, For painless delivery - Apana Mudra(from 8th month of pregnancy, 10 minutes daily), For a healthy baby mother has to practice: Jnana Mudra + Prithvi Mudra + Prana Mudra (daily 10 minutes each). Fever due to cold - Surya Mudra + Pankaja Mudra, Fever - Prithvi Mudra, Fits: Vayu Mudra + Varuna Mudra + Prana Mudra.
