FEW YOGA TIPS YOU CAN DO AT HOME ....

               Jalodar Nashak Mudra
     
                Jal means water. Udar means(stomach) and Nashak means to end. The little finger signifies water element. Jalodhar Nashak Mudra  controls the excess of water element in the stomach.
              Formation: The tip of the little finger is placed at the base of the thumb and the thumb is placed on the back of the little finger gently.
              Effect: Jalodar Nashak Mudra reduces the excess water element in the body, suitably affecting the water metabolism. It can thus overcome water logging within the body.
              Benefits: Jalodar is a Sanskrit term of the disease-Dropsy. The disease is caused due to excess of water content in the stomach. This Mudra is named after the curing of the disease - Jalodar
             This Mudra can cure Elephantitis; Swelling in any part of the body like face, hands, and legs can be cured with this Mudra; This Mudra cures excessive salivation, watery eyes, running nose, hyperacidity, diarrhoea(loose motion); Pleurisy, effusion in a joint is cured; Excessive menses is balanced; Excessive urination is cured.
     
                       Kidney Mudra
     
         This Mudra cures kidney disorders. This has the same qualities like Jalodar Nashak Mudra.
         Formation: The little finger and the ring finger tips are to be placed at the base of the thumb and Thumb should be placed over the two fingers.
         Benefits:  The problem of running nose is cured; throat pain is pacified immediately; Problem of Phelgam in the throat and the lungs is cured; Helps in curing kidney problems; Helps in curing Dropsy.
         Discontinue performing this mudra when ailment is cured.

  • VYAN MUDRA
       
        The current of air - Vyan Vayu, in the veins is said to be the circulator of blood in the body. When this air current starts moving very fast in the lungs, arteries and veins the disease is called the high blood pressure. Performing Vyan Mudra 2-3 times a day for 50 minutes each followed by Pran Mudra for 15 minutes helps in regulating blood pressure.
       Formation: The tips of index finger and middle fingers to be joined with the tip of the thumb.
       Effec: The speed of the air circulation of Vyan Vayu is regulated.
       Benefits: Blood pressure either high or low is regulated and balanced.
       Lack of initiative,enthusiasm,slowness of thoughts and perception is corrected with this Mudra.
       Drowsiness, excessive sleep is overcome.
       Intolerance to heat,sunstroke can be averted.
       Excessive sweating,thirst,urination, loose motions and menorrhagia can be overcome.

  •   PRAN MUDRA
           Pran Vayu is very important vayu among the ten types of Vayus which exist in the body. Pran Vayu is breath itself. It is found in the nostrils,face,heart and respiratory organs. It covers the space till the navel.
           Formation.  The tips of the little finger and ring finger are joined with the tips of the thumb.
           Effect:  The major part of our body is Prithvi and Jal. Joining the finger tipe balancing these elements results in increasing stamina,vitality,strength and immunity. This mudra starts the flow of vital energy in our body as if life dynamo has been started. While practising meditation along with this mudra, the whole body feels the vibration. Practising this mudra makes a person mentally and physically strong.
          Benefit:  Pran mudra helps to overcome the following disorders:
          Chronic fatigue,general debility,low endurance; Impaired immunity; mental tension,anger,irritability,jealousy,pride,restlessness; inflammatory disorders; forgetfiulness; scanty burning,urination; burning red dry eyes,cataract; dry red hot agin skin, skin rashes,urticaria and leprosy; any ailment of eyes is cured; eyesight is improved; the element of earth,water and fire are joined, so this helps remove the obstacles present in blood vessels resulting in improved blood circulation; this mudra removes impurities present in blood and stimulates joy,energy, delight,zeal,hope and preservance. this mudra helps remove any kind of deficiency of vitamins A,B,C,D,E,K all vitamins are provided by this mudra; any types of cramps in muscles or veins and pain in the legs cured; during fasts this mura can help control hunger and thirst; to treat any disease Pran Mudra is like a friend that helps other mudras; to cure insomnia, Jnana Mudra is to be followed by pran mudra; to cure diabetes Apan Mudra is to be followed by Pran Mudra; Numbness in any part of the body is cured by Pran Mudra.

  •    SHOONYA MUDRA
     
         Middle finger of the hand represents Ether-Space-Akash. Space is all over the world, and in every cell in the body. The disturbance due to excess Akash element in the body  causes various types of diseases - like cardiac weaknesses, ear problems etc. and Shoonya Mudra helps resolve problems associated with an excess of the Akash element.
         Formation: The tip of the middle finger is to be placed at the  base of the thumb and the thumb is to be placed on the back of the middle finger gently.
        Effect: The space element is reduced.
        Benefits: Ear ache subsides immediately; audio weakness is remedied; deafness is cured; dumbness is cured if it is not by birth; numbness in the head,body parts,chest,abdomen can be remedied by this mudra; ear ailments like pain,tinnitus(noises) acquired deafness will be certainly remedied; vertigo problem will be solved instantly when it is cured. perform Akash Mudra every day 15 minutes; severe headache, ear pain, imbalance while walking, pain in the tooth, pain in the throat, pain in the heals, joint pain - Shoonya and Vayu Mudras to be performed together followed by Pran Mudra of course.

  • VAYU MUDRA
     
               When the air element in the body increases because of diet or life style, many kinds of disturbances raise their ugly head. To decrease the Vayu element perform Vayu mudra and attain balance.
               Formation: Index finger tip is to be placed at the base of the thumb and the thumb is to be placed on the back of the index finger gently. Other fingers to be straight. This is vayu mudra.
               Effect: Excess vayu is decreased., blood circulation improves and any areas of the body experiencing pain start getting relief.
               Benefits: This mudra acts slowly but steadily. Within 8 to 10 days the results are attained.
              When the vayu is in our body accumulates in any part, it causes severe pain and aches. This mudra can cure such aches.
    The feeling of restlessness or gas formation can be cured if this mudra is practised immediately' By yawning or by burping the vayu problem gets resolved; vayu diseases such as parkinsons,sciatica,paralysis, cervical spondylitis and knee pains get cured by this mudra by regular practice-till get cured; relief from joint pain can be achieved by practising these mudras in the following order: Vayu mudra for 15 minutes followed by Varun mudra for 15 minutes followed by Pran mudra for 15 minutes

       Almost 70% of the body is water. Varun Mudra keeps the water balance in the body.
       Formation: Join the tip of the small finger with the tip of the thumb.
       Effects: This mudra affects the water metabolism; it helps to rehydrate cells,tissues,muscles,skin,joints,cartilege etc The element water is associated with taste. This Mudra is useful in overcoming disorders like loss of taste sense and dryness of mouth.
       Benefits: Can be used to overcome following disorders:
        Dryness of the eyes, dryness of the digestive tract; dry cough, dryness of the skin leading to crakes,dry eczema,psoriasis,degeneration of joint cartilege; Osteo arthritis; Anaemia and cramps; deficiency of harmones; scanty urination, loss of taste tongue disorders; burns, pimples, itching and all skin diseases. This mudra helps in removing dryness from the body and adds tenderness, glow and beauty to the skin; it is beneficial in removing impurities present in the blood; this mudra preserves youthfulness; Unconsciousness due to sunstroke, accidents or overcrowdedness can be cured by rubbing the tips of the thumb and the tip of the little finger.

  • SURYA MUDRA
     
                      Surya means - the Sun. Surya Mudra generates heat in the body like Sun. This Mudra decreases Prithvi element and increases Agni element.
                     Formation;  The tip of the ring finger is to be placed at the base of the thumb and thumb is to be placed gently on the back of the ring finger.
                  Effect: The element Agni is associated with body temperature and metabolism. Practice of Soorya Mudra helps to maintain the body temperature and keeps the metabolism going.
              The element Agni is also associated with vision. Hence, this mudra strenghens eyes and improves vision.
              Benefits:
              Surya mudra can treat following disorders: Abnormally low body temperature; introlerance to cold,shivering, under activity of the thyroid gland causing slow metabolism' obesity, progressive weight gain, loss of appetite,indigestion and constipation, absence of sweating, cold problems like cough, tuberculosis, sinusitis, pleuristy and asthma, high cholestrol in the blood, cataract.
              This Mudra can be combined with Linga Mudra for better results(5 minutes each, one after the other).

  • LINGA MUDRA
     
          This mudra increases bodily heat as it reinforces the fire element.
          Formation: Linga mudra is formed by inter locking the palm but keeping the left thumb erect pointing upwards. This mudra can be done by reversing the hand too.
          Effect: The fire in the thumb is activated and is able to increase uninhibited.
          Benefits:  Hypothermia - Shivering and chills due to cold weather can be controlled; ailments caused by over production of mucus such as wet cough,colds,sinusitis etc., can be cured; Asthma,bronchitis,T.B. Pleurisy are cured; Discomfort experienced in air-conditioned room is relieved by this mudra; Increase digestive powers and also melts excess fat in the body. Give better resiults when performed together with Soorya Mudra- both 15 minutes eacg. one after the other.; difficulty in breathing can be relieved by this mudra; congested nose can be relieved by this mudra immediately and one can get good sleep; regulates the flow of the menstrual cycle. give better results when performed with Surya mudra - both 15 minutes each, one after the other. When navel centre is shifted from its original place, comes back to is place by this mudra.
       Special note"  This mudra increases heat in the body so this mudra is to be performed only for 15 minutes or less. Since this mudra generates heat, one must consume a lot of liquids like water, fruit juices,milk,buttermilk, etc.
        Any one suffering from acidity, fever, and stomach ulcers should not perform this mudra.
        This mudra is to be performed only till the problem persists and then it should be discontinued.

  • SHANKHA MUDRA
     
             In Sanskrit Shankha means Conch.
             This mudra resembles the shape of a Conch and hence is called the Shankha Mudra.
              In ancient times it was believed that blowing the Conch could send sound waves far and wide, thereby removing ill effects of the bad elements.
              This mudra is used during worship while chanting hymns and mantras.
              Formation: Place the thumb of the left hand at the base of the right thumb. This is the point of Thyroid gland in the palm. Fold the fingers of the right hand covering the left thumb, Join the index finger of the left hand with the thumb tip of the right hand. The other three fingers of the left hand are to be placed on the back of the right palm
             This mudra can be performed with reversing the hands too.
             Effect: Thus mudra puts pressure on the point of thyroid gland, thus making it active to remove illnesses related to thyroid gland; this mudra purifies 72,000 nerves connected to the navel centre, thereby rejuvenating the whole body; this mudra makes the voice melodious and clean. Removes strain in the voice. Therefore, singers, teachers, doctors, lawyers and leaders must perform this mudra every day for 10 minutes; this mudra relieves allergies, caused by dust and smoke, so throat becomes clean; also relieves from skin rashes; tonsillitis and other throat  infections are cured; relieves feverish feeling in the body; relieves burning sensation in the body or body parts; any trouble of stammering, stuttering in speech can be rectified by this mudra; after a paralytic attack, this mudra helps in dealing with speech problems and speech becomes clear; helps in increasing height of childre.

  •  AKASH MUDRA
     
                  Space within the body is a part of outer space. A person becomes very broad minded when it is balanced.
                  Formation; Formed by joining together the tips of the thumb and the middle finger.
                  Effect: This is a detoxifying Mudra that helps in increasing the space within the body and helps elimination of metabolic waste. Negative emotions like anger, fear and sorrow are replaced by positive emotions:
                  Benefits:  helps to detoxify the body by the elimination of metabolic wastes through exhaled air,sweat,urine stools; helps to overcome feeling of fullness, heaviness in the body; helps to overcome discomfort caused by over eating;helps to relieve congestion and pain in the head due to migraine or sinusitis, ears due to infection, chest congestion, infection,asthma,etc; relieves  pain in angina pectoris, regularises heart beats and high blood pressure. Practise this mudra daily for 50 minutes. This mudra aids in meditation. It helps purity emotions and thoughts. Vibrations can be felt on the top of the head at Sahasra Chakra and one gets divine power with an incrwase in intution and alertness. this mudra is beneficial for any  bone related diseases, as the calcium content within the body increases. this mudra removes tooth problems and makes the teeth strong. locked jaws caused due to yawning can be cured with the flip of middle and thumb fingers. That is why, traditionally, during yawning fingers are flipped. If the rosary beads are placed on the middle finger and rotated with the help of the thumb, mind enjoys prosperity, power and material happiness. Heart gets strong; this mudra is more beneficial at dawn; Akash mudra is an excellent mudra which stimulates noble thoughts and helps the practitioner to take rapid strides along the path to liberation from worldly desires.

  •    Sahaja Shankha Mudra
     
             This Mudra is a version of Shankha Mudra. Benefits are also the same with a few exceptions:     
              Formation:  Join both hands together interlocking the fingers and press the palms together. Apply a gentle pressure with both the thumbs by laying them parallel to each other on the index finger.
             This forms the Sahaja Sankha Mudra.
              Effect: According to Yoga physiology, all 10 main nerves get activated and the body becomes very strong. The ten nerves are Sushumna,Ida,Pingala,Gandhari,Hasti,Jiva,Poosha,Yashwini, Alamboosha, Kuhoo and Shankini.
               Benefits: There is growth in alertness;  The nerve Shankhini would activate Mooladhara Chakra. The serpent power Kundalini rises towards higher levels;  removes the problems associated eith the reproductive system;  cures piles and problems related to the anus; The spinal cord becomes straight and gains flexibility; like the Shankh Mudra this mudra helps in solving problems related to speech, voice, digestive power, stomach and intestine

                  Formation: Place the tip of the thumb at the base of the ring finger.
                   Effect: This finger represents Prithvi and the Thumb represents Agni. When the Agni touches at the base to the ring finger there is a growth of Prithvi element and also growth of Agni. Therefore there will be weight gain with improvement stamina.
                  Benefits:   One can gain weight by a regular practice of 50 minutes followed by rana Mudra. There will be remarkable weight gain.
                  P{roblem of sneezing continuously in the morning can be cured with the practice of this mudra. Yawning and sneezing during meditation can be pprevented by practising th

  • KUNDALINI MUDRA
     
                     This mudra is associated with thw reproductive energy.
                     Formation:  Form a fist of the left hand and extend the index finger. Cover the index finger with the right hand fingers and place the right thumb on the top.
                     Hold this mudra in front of the abdomen for 15 minutes, thre times a day.
                     Effect: This mudra enhances the Kundalini force and the energy is released.
                     Benefits: This mudra promotes vigour in the couple.

  •  PANKAJ MUDRA
     
                 Pankaj means lotus. It grows in water and is considered very sacred in India. A number of gods and goddesses like Brahma,Laxmi and Saraswati have lotus as their seat.
               It is a part of worship and we form Pankaj Mudra as a symbol of purity and offering.
                Formation: Join the too palms facing each other. Join the thumbs and the little fingers. Form the other fingers like a blooming Lotus.
               Effect: The thumbs represent fire and the little fingers represent water. Joining these fingers means purifying body and mind.
               Benefit: The mind becomes calm and pure. The body becomes cool. This mudra pacifies fever in a short time. The beauty of the face is also enhanced by this mudra.

  •    DHARANA SHAKTI MUDRA
     
               Dharana means to retain the breath for longer time.
              Formation:  This mudra has three stages.
            1) Start inhaling with the thumb tips pressing the tip of the index finger. This helps the retention of the breath for longer time.
            2) Next press the middle part of the thumb and keep on inhaling for some more time. Retention of breath is still longer.
            3) Then press the base part of the thumb and retention of the breath can be still longer.
            Effect: The lungs get more oxygen by retention of breath.
            Benefits: The longer the breath the more is the oxygenation of the body resulting in pure blood and a stronger body. To a large extent, practising this mudra reduces the total number of breaths in the day. This, in turn, increases longevity.
