Arabian Proverb
He who has health has hope; and he who has hope has everything.
Elie Weisel
Just as despair can come to one only from other human beings, hope, too, can be given to one only by other human beings.
Matthew Prior
For hope is but the dream of those that wake.
Aristotle
Hope is a waking dream.
La Rochefoucauld
Hope and fear are inseparable.
Thomas Fuller
If it were not for hopes, the heart would break.
He who has health has hope; and he who has hope has everything.
Unknown
Never deprive someone of hope — it may be all they have.
Alfred Bernhard Nobel
Hope is nature's veil for hiding truth's nakedness.

May God Fill Your Heart with Hope
Hope is a word that
every hurting heart understands.
Hope shines brighter
than the darkest night.
Faith is bigger
than the highest mountain.
And God is greater
than any obstacle
in your path.
Anything can be accomplished
by those who
fully put their hearts into it.
The time to start is now;
the place to start is here.
May hope cast its special light
upon your path
and God bless everything you touch
in the hours, days,
and moments still to come.

Hope
Hope is a candle in the night
hope is a long respite
Hope is a feather
Once lifted, it'll only get higher
Hope is an oasis in a desert
Hope is a diamond in the dirt
Hope is everywhere
Yet hope is scarcely there
Hope is the dream of better days
Hope is the passion ablaze
Hope is beautiful
And hope is tranquil
Hope is there for everyone
Hope is an asset that all has in abundance

Hope
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all,
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.
Dickinson defines hope by comparing it to a bird (a metaphor) .
Hope is a "thing" because it is a feeling; the thing/feeling is like a bird.
