How to start meditation?

I am a new member here. Want to learn meditation, to relax and control my mind. Please friends, brothers and sisters, help me to learn it. All steps to do it, how and when? It would be helpful to other new members also.

Thx john, yea i will try to practice it as u said.. Its kind of very difficult for me to concentrate, coz weneva i try it, my mind jz starts hovering here n dere... Bt still I ll try..

Ya its hard to concentrate with so much stress around us....i try my best to put my hand on heart and then think about Sai baba ji sitting there and try to focus on Sai ji's feet....Hope it helps.

Meditation is not to be had by forcing the mind to do it. It happens automatically, when your heart is filled with love.
