Title: Sai Bhavana
Post by: SS91 on September 01, 2009, 11:51:05 AM
O, Sainath! You Are The Lord Of The Universe, Embodiment Of Truth, Knowledge And Bliss, We Prostrate To Your Feet, Our Divine Master!

O, Infinite Intelligence! You command the elements of Nature to bow to Your Will and get shaped into the vast and variegated Universe. You have no beginning and no end. When the entire Universe was submerged in flood, You lifted it from its embryonic state, caused it to multiply into variegated species. Your created species are being nurtured, sustained, protected by You, getting their tears wiped out and troubles warded off. You, our Father, Mother, Master, will lead us from darkness into Your Light of wisdom. You are the Embodiment of Eternal Truth, Wisdom-Light and Ever-New Delight.

To establish and continue the noble tradition of the Divine Master (Sadguru), You incarnated on Earth as Dattatreya, the Triple Form of God, born as son to saint Athri and his consort Anasuya. You have appeared as Sripada Vallabha at Kuruvapuram, Sri Nrusimha Saraswathi at Ganugapuram, Manik Prabhu at Maniknagar, Swami Samartha at Akkalkot and as Sri Sai Baba at Shirdi to protect all beings. O, Divine Master! In spite of entering Samadhi, You are the Absolute Reality, guarding us as closely as the eye-lid guards the eye. We prostrate before You, the King of All Kings and Yogi-Christ.

The Universe Reflects God's Great Genius

Sri Sai is the Creator. One of His pastimes is the creation of the Universe. He turns awesome galactic systems into sphere-like balls and plays with them. He prepares and executes an excellent plan for each planet. The creation of countless milky ways, the sun, stars, galaxies and the planets in them, forests, mountains, rivers, variegated species and their varieties, nature and features of the earth and other planets in a suitable manner and enabling them to revolve in their respective spheres is indeed an amazing act of Sai. The multitude of stars, planets and other stellar objects will never come into friction by moving out of their sphere. Each planet resonates to the Law of Cosmic Rhythm. The Almighty Power binds all creation together. Our soul's ears can hear the 'music of the spheres'.
The sunrise, the pleasant moonlight and the star-studded sky will give us great joy. If this ecstasy is rightly perceived, the love of Baba will be realized by us. We, who are part and parcel of God's Creation, can get that blissful feeling by not violating the rules of nature. This is the message of Baba. But we are inviting trouble by ignoring the truth and behaving at will with egoistic feelings. If we observe the regular occurrence of the sunrise and sun-set, we can hear Baba's message of living like the sun, with a sense of discipline, commitment and regularity.

The Story of the Life of Sri Guru(Gurucharitra)

For the welfare of mankind, God Himself incarnated as Sri Dattatreya-The Universal Guru (Teacher). Thus, He became the very originator of all Yogic traditions. In the recent times, He descended in various human forms like Sripada Srivallabha, Sri Nrusimha Saraswathi, Sri Manik Prabhu, Sri Akkalkot Maharaj, Sri Shirdi Saibaba. In other words, the life stories of all these Avatars is the great history of Sri Dattatreya. Saints, who are the Dattatreya incarnate, even after shedding their mortal coils, have been appearing in flesh and blood to their devotees and showering their grace on them.
Firstly, the reading of "Sri Gurucharitra" which is about the two Datta Avatars, gave the holy vision of Sri Dattatreya and liberation to several devotees. For some others, Sri Dattatreya appeared in dreams and guided them to the right Guru. However, the common-folk will not have the maturity of worshiping the true Gurus although they are present before them. Hence the reading of "Sri Gurucharitra" will offer us such an opportunity. The Divine Master Sai never revealed the method of worshipping Him. Hence, the devotees must make regular reading of "Sri Gurucharitra". Baba made Kushabhavu read the book for 108 times. "Sri Gurucharitra" guides one in reaching the feet of the right Sadguru.

Commit Yourself to Human Service, And Receive Baba's Grace

People with devotion to God, love and sympathy towards all living beings will be always ready to help others. They never expect recognition from any one. They are very important to the society. Such great people are ordinary men in the beginning. They have not come down from the heaven all of a sudden. The deep desire to acquire a saintly behaviour, to spiritually reach a higher level and the willingness to accept such transformation are the forces that have influenced them to the core. When they offer themselves as boulders to the will of God, the Cosmic Sculptor carves out a marvellous statue. Once they surrender themselves to the Will of God and dedicate their lives to God, they will be transformed into angels of mercy and divine instruments of selfless service.
Baba took Bhagojee, who was suffering from leprosy, into His lap and enlisted Him as his trusted servant in His darbar. It is our primary duty to help those suffering from ill health. With love and sympathy we must nurse and care the bed-ridden patients. Baba likes such service of love. Some people lack the motto of service. How many are there who are willing to selflessly serve with love? The more we prepare ourselves for selfless service, the more we become dearer and go nearer to Baba.

Baba Bestows Supreme Peace

A state of mind devoid of any anxiety and tension reflects peace. When thoughts are subdued in and mind is freed from fury of emotions, it is in a state of mental poise which is the basis of happy life. It is not only the order of nature but also the divine wish that all beings in the Universe should co-exist in peace and amity. However, the upsurge of selfishness and lack of knowledge of discriminating between the virtue and sin has led the present-day world to reel under the fear of war and social disorder.
Baba taught us to conquer the ego, the root cause of envy and hatred, share love with all, desist from harming others and help set up a peaceful society. Baba will safeguard one, against most dangerous and difficult conditions, if one sheds one's ego and seeks His help. Anyone could give only from what one possesses. Likewise, those who move on the path of peace could make others experience peace. We all should know the truth that Baba, the Universal Peace-Maker, alone can grant us Supreme Peace. The divine shield of Baba will provide light, both within and around and helps us lead a peaceful, secure and happy life. Hence, let us free ourselves from the vice-like grip of violence and ill-will from our hearts. Let us invite Sainath, the Bestower of Supreme Peace, into our hearts.

It is Baba Who Makes Life Meaningful

One might think as if the world is governed by ignorance when one comes across people without a basic understanding of life, jumping to feet in the dark corners and moving towards a purposeless and directionless destination. Many of us are still groping in the darkness, unaware of "Who we are"? "Where have we come from"? And "Where are we moving"? People are leading a dreary life without knowing the meaning and purpose of life. The Almighty created mankind in His own image of ever-new Delight. The root cause of all human troubles lies in our inability to discover the Fount of Bliss within us.
A complete surrender to God's will, would solve all our problems, reveals the purpose of life and shows the lovely path of realizing it. One who can understand this reality will eternally stay in His celestial light of wisdom. On tasting the nectar of His love, the earlier earthly bonds of hurdles would appear pleasant. The priceless life gifted to us would appear more purposeful. Life is delight if we look through the eyes of devotion and faith. The Omnipotent Baba blessed us with such a beautiful life, reveals us the goal of life and guides us in His Love-Light to reach Him and be with Him. Only our faith and love-devotion to Baba will make our lives meaningful and joyful. Let us pray to Baba to guide us in His Light of Grace.

Entrust Your Future to Baba and Delight in Him light

We search for the light in darkness. In the light, everything is clearly visible to us. We guide our steps to what is good in the light we see ahead of us. This is how we ordinarily walk on a pathway. We are well aware of the past and we live through the present. We cannot know the future, as we are not seers.
God not only knows the future, but knows even the future course of lives of everybody. Hence, we should pray to Baba before we commence any work. One should pray, "Baba! I want to walk on this path. I intend to do this work. I will but abide by Your decision. Please do command me what is fit to be done". We must not get restless or expect an instant reply, but must wait patiently. Sometimes, Baba would test our faith. He will not reply. Then with a resolute mind, we should pray to Baba saying, 'the lamp in my hands is little, nothing is visible after every two steps. My wisdom is limited and unless You come and hold my hand, I cannot move further'. Baba is aware of what is going on in our minds. Therefore, if our devotion is sincere and our faith is firm, He will come and hold our hand. The victims of snake bite coming back to life, the sick getting cured are, indeed, the miraculous acts of Baba's Divine Love-Grace. Even now if we invoke Baba's mercy, He would lend His helping hand and bless us overcome life's hurdles.

Cast Your Burdens on Baba and Stay Cool

In a family life, we are surrounded by several responsibilities, face hardships, problems and pains. How can one keep one's mind on God with mind rocked and swayed by tensions and worries? This very thought worries some. God assures us, 'Entrust all your responsibilities to Me and stay cool. Whatever work you do, stay detached and be an instrument only. What is the meaning of being an instrument? The doer must think that he is only a tool in the hands of God and it is God who executes all things through him to fulfill His purpose. If we think that we are instruments in the Hands of God, strive and struggle and surrender to Him, God will hug us to His heart and be our guide.
God is easily accessible to His devotees. When you are caught in the whirl-pool of troubles, a fervent call 'Baba' would stir and melt His heart and He comes running to help you. The communion with God, which is full of love and wisdom, will fill our hearts with peace, happiness, love and patience. If a faithful devotee casts his burdens and responsibilities on Baba, He will stand by him, provide refuge and bless the devotee with a worry-free life. Likewise, several devotees got rid of their diseases and got their burdens lightened when they surrendered themselves to Baba's care.

I am the lamp lit by Your Love

We are not self-luminous. Only when we have become true devotees does the light within us manifests. It is the glow of God's light. It appears as if the wick in the oil lamp that burns sheds light. But it is the wick dipped in oil that causes it to burn brighter. As long as the wick is dipped in the oil, it sheds light and dispels darkness. Darkness is ignorance. The wick of lamp remains in darkness when there is no oil. When the oil of Baba's mercy is added to the wick that a human being is, that illumined mind drives out the illusion of ignorance. Of what use sheer human effort without the Divine Grace of Baba?
The light in us may be put out early and our life may be in vain if we try to glow without God's Grace. We are bound to succeed in any work we undertake if we but remember Sai. Our life-wick must always stay dipped in the oil of Sai Grace. Just as the wick dipped in the oil will burn brighter, shed light to all corners, our lives, deeply engrossed in the oil of God's Grace-Power will shine as Light of Wisdom. We must pray to Baba, the Universal Teacher, to turn the lamp of our soul towards the Lord of Light. We must beg Baba to dip our life-wicks in the oil of Baba's Grace so that our lives are illumined. The light that shines in our body-temple is none other than Baba. This is a profound lesson in wisdom that an oil-lamp teaches us.

Be Obedient to Baba, Nothing can Scare You

In life, health and happiness depend on the grace of God. We get them by our fair conduct and faith in God. The reason for not getting the grace of God is due to lack of obedience and devotion. Obedience means complete surrender and just doing as commanded. This is an integral part of devotion. Obedience means to have firm faith in God as a child has in its father. "Why does father command so? Why does he do so?" such questions will not occupy a child's mind. He will simply obey his father's commands. So, we need not search for the 'cause-effect' link in everything.
We may not understand the acts of God. But we need to obey Him. Obedience will brighten our future. When devotees came to Baba to take leave, Baba used to ask them not to leave Shirdi on that day, but leave the next day. Devotees obeyed Baba's word, and re-scheduled their journey despite urgency and never did they incur any loss. Whatever happened turned out to be good. The disobedient left Shirdi much against Baba's wish and suffered a lot. Only God knows what is in store for us tomorrow. People who abide by God's command will safely reach the right destination. Violating His command might cause problems. Therefore, if we abide by Baba's word with unquestioning obedience, our life's journey will be smoother.

Whatever Happens, Good or Bad, it's Baba's Will

It is not so easy to understand the deeds of God. But one thing is certain. There is some inner meaning in whatever God does. He will always do good to His devotee-children who trust in Him. The adage that nothing shall occur except as God wills is, indeed, true. Although, we feel that certain incidents are likely to harm us, in fact, they turn out to be good for us. Sometimes the punishment given by Baba is only to perfectly train us, but not to persecute us. Just as gold cannot glitter if not burnt in fire, so also we cannot acquire spiritual wisdom unless we pass the tests and trials of life.
Nothing will ever happen in our lives which is not destined to happen. We must remember that whatever happens is for our own good and meant to shape our destiny. We go through sorrows and sufferings as God wants us to set right our wrongs, cleanse our sins and make us worthy of merging into God. A devotee feels perplexed when his car stops abruptly at a deserted place. He wonders, "why did Baba trouble me thus"? When his eyes fell on the boulders rolling from a hill and blocking the road, he realized how Baba saved his life by stopping his scooter. His grateful heart thanked Baba for saving him from death. Both tears and smiles, joys and sorrows are for our good, as long as Baba showers His Grace on us.

We Need not be a Millionaire to Give Charity

All the earthly riches are but a gift of Baba. In return for the gifts, Baba expects from us devotion, honesty, uprightness, self-surrender. Baba wants us to put the wealth, which He gifted us, in the service of the needy. It is charity. Charity is virtue. Only a few are blessed by Baba to have a heart of charity. Some people think that one can make a charity if one is very rich, but not when one has little wealth.
Baba explained through His noble deeds that riches are secondary but a desire to donate is vital. In fact, the spirit of sacrifice can be found in Nature itself. Rivers provide clean and fresh water. Trees bear the sweetest fruit and man being a part and parcel of nature must emulate the spirit of charity. When we compare the pleasure obtained by the receiver with that of the happiness of the giver, the amount given in charity seems insignificant. Liberality awakens spirituality. Greed and selfishness cause poverty. Baba taught us the value of charity by explaining it in the simplest form, "give and grow richer". We need not be a millionaire to give charity. We can give away cheerfully whatever wealth we can afford to give and Baba will increase our riches. Baba's grace will not only multiply our worldly wealth but blesses us with the spiritual wealth of merit and ever-new joy.

Baba's Words Stand Unchallenged Even if the World Turns Topsy-Turvy

It is true that words and deeds go together in the case of great souls. Their every word unfolds the spiritual realities. Words of great seers remain unaltered as the letters inscribed on a stone tablet. In the most calamitous times, even if great floods inundate the earth, the entire life on the planet gets tormented, the earth or sky or even the multitude of the planets get destroyed, still the faith in Baba would provide a safe haven for us. We should raise the mansion of life on the foundation of Baba's words of assurance. Our success and failure rest in the hands of Baba only.
In the hour of distress, we must remember Sai and recall His teachings and remain cool-headed so that Baba steels our will to live in poise and peace. Once, a devotee under the spell of disbelief had suddenly heard the thundering voice of Baba, "Won't you still believe me"? Baba would sometimes test even the faithful devotees and enjoys the sport. But the next moment He showers His nectarine grace. Sufferings, accidents, pains and fears are all part of Baba's tests. Whoever seeks His shelter is definitely rescued. Baba will never go back on His word of assurance even if the whole world turns topsy-turvy. We should offer our prayer-flowers and prostrate before Baba.

One can enjoy Perfect Health by Baba's Grace

It is said that the lives of theists are devoid of any problems. Sometimes, in spite of the faith in God, one may face hardships as a result of the accumulated sins committed in the past. But, we can understand the acts of God only by firm faith. In fact, 'adversity' provides an opportunity to come more closer to God. While some problems disturb the mind, others harm the body in the form of disease. If you think, "Baba's blessings are there, why should I fear?" and sincerely offer prayers, you will be blessed with good health in return. Baba kept the mentally disturbed Nulkar in Macchindraghad and blessed him with the much sought solace. Tumours on the body, plague and other chronic diseases were cured by Baba's sacred ash.
It is no ordinary boon to be in the presence of Baba. For this, a devotee's heart must be soaked in devotion. The minor irritants are only tests that Baba conducts to mend our ways and turn His believers as ardent devotees. With little provocations Baba will scare obedient devotees. Won't children run to the mother and embrace her in fear? Likewise, when devotees seek shelter at Baba's feet, He would hug them, drive their fears away and gives them good health. Hence, the feeling of 'I' should be given up and all our burdens must be placed on His shoulders. Baba, the Compassionate Mother grants us everlasting peace and joy.

Chavadi Celebration
[/u]

In Shirdi, after the Samadhi Mandir, the most important sacred place to visit is Chavadi. Baba used to sleep there on alternate days. One day, some devotees sent a palanquin for Baba from Vardha region. Raghuveera Purandhare decorated it with beautiful flowers. But Baba did not agree to mount it. Instead, they kept Baba's wooden footwear in it and took out a procession. Sai, being a kind mother, approved the celebration.
The Chavadi celebration is observed on alternate days since 10th December, 1909, without break. Before the great celebration done in the honour of Baba, Abdullah and Radhakrishna Mayee used to clean and wash the streets and adorn them with colorful patterns on the floor. There would be a festive occasion with drums, chorales with hand-drums, torches and lights. Clothes would be spread from the Masjid to the Chavadi. Tatya would hold Baba's hands and make Him get up from His seat. He would honour Baba by covering Him with a gold-embroidered shawl. Baba would get ready for the procession toward the Chavadi with a baton (satka) under His arm-pit and a clay smoking pipe in His hand. Sai Maharaj was escorted in a majestic manner by the devotees and accompanied by His royal horse Shyamakarna. They were fortunate to see that glorious day and let us recall the event, rejoice and be blessed.

Sai Path

A long journey begins with the first step we take. When the chosen path and the goal we want to reach are right, our journey of life become fruitful. How can we choose the path we have to traverse when we are not sure of the goal we have to reach? Once the right path is chosen, reaching the destination is certain. If not today, it will be tomorrow that we will reach the goal. God will incarnate on the Earth in human form to show the right direction to people who have lost a sense of direction and aimlessly groping in darkness of ignorance. Thus, Sri Sainath Maharaj is such a divine form descended on the Earth.
We need to get adapted to the changing times. Even our ideas must be attuned to our changing trends. We need to clearly articulate what exactly we want to achieve and accordingly choose the means. We can move ahead only by sighting the ups and downs, thorns and bushes on our way. For that, Baba incarnated on the earth and gave His message through His deeds and showed the right path to mankind. The path trod by Baba is the path of right conduct trod by many a sage. Let us bow and follow the foot-steps of Baba to make a path for ourselves and move on that by motivating others too. Our life gets blessed when we reach the destination resonating to the rhythm of life and always remembering Sai.

Blessed to be a Flute

God is all pervading. He dwells in every being. But only in a few that divinity is openly visible. The reason is that the blessed souls were freed from several impurities in order to manifest that divinity. It is the tendency of human nature to accumulate all and sundry things and having done so, one simply ignores their utility. A house gets jam-packed with unwanted articles. Likewise, our minds too get cluttered up with unwanted thoughts and there will be no scope for right thoughts. Then how come there be a place to think of God? Therefore, man must make his mind as empty as a hollow flute.
An ordinary bamboo becomes a flute on removing its core substance. Likewise, a man can produce heavenly music like a flute by getting purified. God dwells in a pure heart. He will fill his breath as musical notes in that heart. Elated, He broadcasts soul-stirring songs. The air blown through the flute of heart will become spiritual and the universe echoes with it. The bamboo eagerly awaits for the touch of the lips of Lord Krishna and gets transformed into a flute. Like a flute spreading the melody of Lord Krishna in the universe, we can also spread the melodious message of Baba with our deep yearning for universal welfare. It is not just enough to think, "I must become a flute" but practice is essential for reaching that ego-erased, hollow state.

Cast Your Burden on Baba and He Will Bear it

Baba will show an easy path to people who feel life burdensome. God will not put burdens on our shoulders which we cannot bear or troubles which we cannot pass through. If the faith in God is proved to be true, He not only gives us the strength to bear the burden happily but will clear the hurdles. He enthuses us to forget tiredness. Although our path is full of thorns, bushes and pits, with an unbearable load on the head and even if none comes to our help, it is enough to go ahead by thinking of God. He takes care that we will not fall down, that our legs will not get hurt by thorns and bushes and thus makes the load lighter by lending us His Invisible Hand. We wonder whether we were really shouldering the burden when we cast it on Baba. Baba will guide us and we can be care-free.
When Baba, the Heavenly Father, who protects those who repose faith in Him is with us, where is the need to fear? Baba is the Ocean of Compassion who takes everyone in this world into His arms and treats them with love. Baba is the nectarine cloud that rains incessant love. Those who get soaked in that nectar of Baba's love will acquire the capacity to endure any pain or trouble by the grace of Baba. We should, therefore, cast our burdens on Baba who would protect His devotees from all kinds of troubles and hardships, fears and anxieties.

Only God-Guru's Feet can still our Minds

The sensual pleasures, though appear to be heavenly, are in fact, the pits of hell. "If the mind moves towards carnal desires, you draw it back and offer it to Me", so says Baba. If the physical desires are offered at the lotus feet of the Sadguru, the desires will perish on their own. When the mind is aware that the Guru is always beside, it will not behave as it wills. Whenever the physical desires arise, the thought that 'Baba is beside me' will weaken that desire. The practitioner will become ever-vigilant. Then he will attempt to restrain his desires.
On seeking shelter at the feet of the God-Guru, on one hand, wisdom blossoms; while on the other, love for the body decreases. Then, one attempts to abide by the words of the Guru. He will treat the problems as tests and offer them at the feet of the Guru. He will never challenge or question 'Maya' or the illusion, but remains a silent spectator. He will believe in Baba with complete faith. A matured devotee will understand the absolute truth that acquiring devotion, wisdom and relinquishing desires are very important. He will realize that the Guru and God are one and therefore renders service to the Guru. Despite, leading a mundane life, he will continue to pray to Baba in his mind. Ultimately, he accepts the truth that it is only at the feet of Sadguru like Sai that one's mind rests in peace.

The Rewards of Reading Sri Sai Satcharitra

The life work and teachings of Sadguru Sri Sainath are recorded in Sri Sai Satcharitra (holy book). Daily reading of the holy book and deep meditation on the teachings of Sai will ward off our sins. Every devotee has to personally experience the immense relief by devoutly reading the holy book everyday.
Generally, people start reading the holy book with the sole object of getting their worldly desires fulfilled. It is good to make such a beginning as every good act had such a start. Definitely one must pray to Baba to fulfil one's material desires. By experiencing a worry-free, worldly life, one would, one day, look to Baba and pray, "Baba! I want to be with You alone". Once a devotee savours the syrup of joy he gets from the constant reading of the holy book, he would think how petty and trivial are worldly desires are and will start reading the book only for the deep divine delight. Reading makes them ponder over the deeper meaning of Baba's teachings and one gets inspired to apply them in one's life. And the day dawns, eventually, when one's mind gets attuned to Sai Love. Then, everything is full of Sai. Parayana, literally means 'to be through with Sai's philosophy'. That is to say to cross over the outer meaning of words and grasp the essence of Sai Love in His teachings. This is the result of devout reading of the holy book, Sri Sai Satcharitra.

Service with a Loving Heart is true Service of Sai

Love alone rules the world. Love is holy, selfless, stain-free and love with integrity and simplicity is the form of God. Human heart is as vast as the Universe. When we churn the human heart, what results in is the golden chalice of ambrosia of love. The love a mother showers on her child and the love God rains on His devotees are too sweet to be savoured. It cannot be explained in plain words. Our true love is expressed, without expecting anything in return, for those whose faces we want to see glow in joy and they prosper and be peaceful. God's love is, indeed, true love.
What can we give as a gift to Baba who is the very embodiment of Divine Love? Pure love for Baba is the flower one can offer at His Feet. There are several people in this world who are needy, orphaned, handicapped and suffering from dreaded diseases. Providing the needy with desired help at appropriate time is the true love we can express for Baba. Visiting old-age homes, hospitals and offering food, sweets and other gifts may provide a short-time solace for them. But, the love and concern with which we care for and serve the helpless and the sick is like a cool breeze in hot summer. The service rendered with love to the society will be blessed by Baba and we will be led on the right path to reach Baba's Feet of Felicity.

Gathering of Like-Minded Spiritual Souls is not Common but should be Cultivated like a Garden

An association is a get-together of people. Generally a person intends to tread a path trodden by the most. If one is among the good, he will naturally select the right path and thereby reap good results. So, one needs sincere practice and the association of spiritually charged souls. This should be cultivated like a garden. Time and again, it should be watered, weeds plucked and plants protected. Hence, we all must assemble, listen to and contemplate on the God-Guru Sai and keep assimilating and applying His teachings and emulate His life of love and good deeds.
Spiritual practice is the listening of the stories of God. Valmiki's "Ramayana" and Vyasa's "Bhagavatham" were propagated by his learned disciples throughout this vast country. Thus, even the illiterate masses are familiar with the philosophical truths, epics and right conduct. By listening to such great ideas and getting our hearts purified, devotion and dedication would grow like healthy plants. So, once in a week we should invite our neighbours and make them listen to stories of God's love, do arathi to Sai's idol, pray and sing bhajans, offer food and share it with one and all. The company of such noble souls alone will be our flowery path to reach Sainath Maharaj.

Baba will Mould Your Weakness into Strength And Prove its Might

A person used to carry river water in two pots tied to the two ends of a pole positioned across his shoulder and used to serve it to the master. One of the pots had a crack. By the time he reached home one pot was full as it was, while the cracked pot had only half of the water in it. One day the leaking pot said, "I am feeling sad. Pardon me. You are carrying the load of two pots with difficulty to such a distance. But I am able to provide only half the quantity of the water". The man felt pity on the pot.
Looking at the pot, the man carrying the pots had a hearty smile and said, "Look at the beautiful plants along the path that are blooming fragrant flowers. I offer all those flowers to our master. You have not understood yet. I have been observing the drops of water trickling down from you. So I have planted flower-bearing plants all along the path. They are getting wet by your trickling water and are now fully grown to the extent of giving flowers. You are repenting for giving half of your water, but the beautiful flowers have blossomed because of you" On hearing the words, the leaking pot felt elated and trickled few more drops of water. It is Baba who provides strength or weakness. If we reckon our mistakes and seek forgiveness, Baba will mould our weaknesses into pathways that yield good results.

The Perusal of Scriptures

For every individual, a careful reading of sacred books will be highly rewarding. The dormant feelings of heart should be regulated by thoughts of God. As soon as we get up in the morning, we should pay our respect to God, with a grateful heart, and attend to our daily chores. After the morning ablutions, the reading of 'Holy Scriptures' provides us with peace of mind. The sharing of good thoughts that we gather from holy books, with others will be useful for our spiritual progress. Although we are not so competent to read scriptures or Vedas, reading the books available in simple language about the sayings of sages will be similar to the perusal of holy books.
By reading such holy books, the picture of God will get embossed on our hearts and thus we long for God-realization. Baba also used to present books like Vishnu Sahasranama, Ramavijayam etc., and used to ask them to read the books. We must remember Sai before we go to bed in the night so that Sai will be pleased and will shower His grace on us. Reading of Holy Scriptures will boost our self-confidence. There will be a remarkable change in our thinking and, thus, our mind becomes pure. We will know ways and means of acquiring Baba's grace. We understand that there is no Master as perfect as Baba and no scripture as good as Sri Sai Satcharitra.

Baba is the Source of Peace in Times of Crisis

Even if a war, agitation, chaos or difficult situation persists outside, Baba protects us with His Divine Power by throwing His hands around us. We, being in His protection, will get rid of fear and pain and find peace of mind. It is common experience to face troubles in life and preventing them is not in our hands. We need a tough heart to weather the storm of struggles. The Grace of God gives us that power. Then, the impact of the external events cannot touch us. Things or expressions of the external world are mere physical and pains from such sufferings are inevitable. Sometimes we feel that we are helpless in controlling such adversities. However, the Omnipotent Baba would bless His staunch devotees to endure pains with ease and calm.
Baba makes us wise as to not to torment our minds and hearts by the pain of the harsh times we face. We get totally assured that Baba will set right the things. We reach such a stage that even if the sky falls down, we think; "It's all right! I have not bothered since Baba is there to take care of". Those in the Protective Arms of Baba will be like a grand-daughter reading peacefully nestled in the lap of her grand father without feeling uneasy or troubled. Then, there will be no hurdle for meditation, for reading, for Sadhana. Being in His protective arms, peace would be at heart. That serenity, only Baba can give us.

Baba's Charity of Feeding the Hungry

Whenever Baba wanted to serve food to others, He himself used to arrange for everything from the beginning to the end. He would lit fire in the open space before the masjid and prepare food. He had two vessels. The bigger one was meant for cooking food for a hundred, while the small vessel was sufficient for fifty persons. Sometimes Baba would cook sweet rice. At times, He would cook mutton biryani. While preparing soup, He would drop flat bread of wheat flour into it. He would grind all spicy items well before adding them to food. He would make every effort to cook and make the food tastier.
Sometimes, Baba would cook porridge. He would not hesitate to dip His hand into the boiling cauldron to test whether it was properly cooked or not. There would be no sign of fear in His face or scars of any burns on His hand. As soon as the food was cooked, Baba would bring them into the Masjid and ask the moulvi to offer it to God. Only after sending some sanctified food to Tatya and Mhalspathy, He would distribute the rest to the satisfaction of the poor and hungry. Baba gets immense pleasure in feeding His children. Those who were fed with the food cooked and served by Baba's hand were indeed virtuous and fortunate souls. Let us cherish in our memory Baba's charity of feeding the hungry and the poor and emulate Baba.

Kite Points the Path to Success

The will of Almighty God and collective human effort are the two ingredients of success. A kite flies high in the sky. Why does the kite fly at such a height? The boy flying the kite would instantly reply "Yes, I am the cause for letting the kite fly high". Will the wind be silent? It will counter with the words 'I'. 'It is I alone who am showing right direction and causing it to fly'. The long string in the boy's hand will interrupt and say, "If I am snapped, what does the air do and how can the kite fly? I am the propeller for the kite to fly", so saying it would retaliate. Immediately, the tail of the kite fluttering at the bottom would quibble "what's the use of all of you, I alone did keep it right and it is all due to my effort that the kite does not turn upside down". Yes, for the kite to fly in the air, tail, string and the hand are all equally important.
The five fingers folded together make a powerful fist. However arduous the task might be, success can be achieved by collective effort. It is made possible only when everyone shoulders equal responsibility with an honest intent. We, the humans, must know our duty and responsibility and strive to accomplish it with unity, co-ordination and sincerity. Just as a long string makes the kite fly, so does the love of Baba forms the support and the base to our labour and ensures our success.

Total Surrender to Sainath

All human beings are the beautiful flowers raised in the garden of God. He is their Protector. Baba used to tell that He incarnated on the Earth to promote our material and spiritual well-being. Hence, whatever actions or duties we perform, they should be offered to Baba in word, spirit and deed. This is known as complete surrender. Every minute we need to observe Baba in our heart. If we could implement the words of Baba in practice, He would definitely make a place for us in His heart. We have to believe in Baba as our everything and live in His Light.
On one occasion, a Swami from Alandi approached Baba with a severe ear-ache and sought His blessings. In spite of undergoing an operation, he found no relief. Baba blessed him assuring, "Allah Achha karega", that 'God would cure him'. Keeping faith in Baba's words, he returned to Pune and within a week the pain miraculously disappeared. It is all due to the complete surrender and faith that the ear -ache vanished by the Grace of Baba. Whatever work we do, we should think of Baba and feel that it is Baba who works through us. There should be no feeling of "I" or "mine", except a conscious feeling that it is done as per His Will. Then, there is no possibility of making a mistake. Moreover, the ego, "I am doing" would get erased. We have to seek His protection by our total surrender to Him.

The Lendi Garden

The little green plants make the surroundings beautiful and give happiness to people. The lovely flowers, like the hearts of good souls, please the eyes of the on-lookers. Trees provide shelter to many birds. They protect living beings from sun-stroke and comfort them under the shade. The group of trees is called a garden. In such beautiful gardens like the Naimisaranya, several ascetics did penance and became the blessed ones. Likewise, our Shirdi Sainath groomed a garden and named it 'Lendi garden'. On seeing Baba as a gardener carrying a pot-full of water, some saints praised Him as, 'this Great Soul is not for Shirdi alone but a Jewel for the entire World'. In the Lendi Garden, Baba Himself lit an eternal lamp and kept a grill around to safeguard it. He called it an Eternal Lamp that burns out the layers of illusion clouding the human mind.
Everyday Vaman Tatya, the potter, used to offer two unbaked earthen pots to Baba. Sai used to regularly water the plants. By evening He kept the pots upturned underneath the neem tree and they got broken the next day. A beautiful garden came up in a short period of time. Sai raised the beautiful garden to reveal us that the human heart and universe is the Lendi bagh, the Garden of God's abundant love and that every soul, as a fragrant flower, has to be offered to the Feet of Sainath

Not a Probing Mind but a Pure Mind

No one can completely grasp the mystery of God. There is as big a difference between Heaven and Earth as between our limited intelligence, thinking and the path of heavenly vision. In order to realize God, either searching Him or singling out His Omnipresence or installing Him in a particular place is not possible. It would be better to desist from such futile attempts.
To have firm faith in Baba who is the Living God visible to our eyes and apply His teachings in our lives is the right method. Baba laid emphasis on austerity and purity. Time and again Baba proved that by neither reading the scriptures nor by scientific research or even by dry logic can God be realized. One should give up logical debate, futile research and become an innocent child. Then, our heart becomes pure and selfless and can easily grasp Baba. The taste of sugar will instantly be felt on the palate. No knowledge, test or research is needed. The books on sugar making, scientific principles and equipment can only help produce sugar, but can never reveal its sweetness. Instead of searching for God, it is better to know oneself through soul-searching. Then, Baba within us will be felt. Don't regret that you have wasted time in searching for Baba who dwells within you. Unalloyed bliss can be an experience when you love Baba with a pure heart and sense His presence within you.

Sai Love-Consciousness

Baba is Omnipresent. His Supreme Spirit fills every inch of the Universe. To understand this thought, we need to contemplate on it. Contemplation is but a thought or a feeling. It is constantly pondering over it and trying to apply the essence of the thought to our day-to-day living. Then, it turns into a habit. Later, it continues without effort. Finally, it becomes a part and parcel of us. In other words, the thought and our mind become inseparably one. To be more precise, the very thought and the thinker get infused into one. Instead of feeling it, we become the very experience of itself. It is the metamorphosis of thought getting transformed into the experience of thought.
Cumin cured in lemonade will become cured cumin. Then the lemon and cumin become one. So does the Sai philosophy which will be the lemon in which the devotee gets immersed, cured and absorbed. The one immersed in Sai's Love will install Sai in one's temple of soul very much like the cumin. The devotee will gradually, during the process of spreading Sai's Love in the surroundings, get absorbed into the Infinite Absolute Reality. Sai's philosophy would get mingled in every atom of one's very being. Then, one sheds one's ego and gets dissolved in Baba's devotion. Thus, the true meaning of Baba's message is "those who trust in Me will surely reach Me".

No Doctor can Excel Baba in the Universe

The deeds of past lives will torment the mankind in the form of disease. Yet, by taking the prescribed medicines of doctors, we pray to God. But the devotees of Baba are the fortunate ones. Where is the need for a doctor when they have Baba? The Divine Doctor Baba can cure both physical and mental ailments as well as the very 'disease of life'. His mode of treatment is amazing and unique. Baba effected instant cures. Bhimajee Patil suffered from chronic T.B. which doctors gave up as a lost case. He wiped Baba's Feet with tears and the Merciful Baba ordered him to stay in Bhimbhai's house. He cured Patil's deadly disease by absolving him from sins by twice appearing in his dreams.
Once Balashimpi Ganapathi suffered from cold chill fever for which Baba suggested to feed the black dog at the temple with curd rice. In other instance Kaka Mahajan was seen repairing the Masjid despite his diarrhea. Chiding, Baba fed him with pea-nuts and advised rest. His diarrhea instantly stopped and happily he attended to the Masjid repairs. Baba cured Dattopant's stomach-ache with His grace, while sonamukhi potion cured that of Shyama's. Even now, Baba has been curing many patients by His miracles and millions are blessed with good health by His grace. There is no other doctor except Baba who can cure patients by wiping their past sins away.

Life Blessed With the God-Guru is A Shining Pearl

Scholars often compare life to a bubble, given the ephemeral nature of it from the beginning to end. The running stream would turn into foam and glitters. It looks bright like a row of corals in twilight, like the gold melted twinkle in the dawn. But, it turns again into water by the next moment. The foam is a drop of water, which is but our existence. Sometimes it looks queer to compare life with a drop of water on the lotus. But close scrutiny reveals its truth. Life gets meaning by our conduct.
Just as the water droplet on a hot pan evaporates instantly, life full of jealousy and envy will extinguish even before treading on the right path. In the early hours, the dew-drops on the green leaves shine like radiant pearls. Again, life, which is a bed of roses amidst wealth and pleasure is not purposeful. It might make the observer feel great and fill the heart with happiness. However, one drop of water trickled into the oyster at the right season would transform it into a beautiful pearl. The moment a raindrop falls into the oyster, it closes and reaches the rock bottom of the sea. It could be perseverance or penance. But it becomes a priceless pearl. Thus, life becomes fruitful if a Perfect Master like Sainath comes and gives the right message.

Life is like a drop turned into a pearl of the supreme bliss.

With Baba's Grace, Our future Unfolds Like an Open Book

Caught in the earthly concerns, treating life as a struggle, people are in the mad pursuit of running after mirages. They do not even know where they go. To really know the future, one need not go anywhere. It is very easy to foretell the future when the All-pervasive God is sighted in the heart. God is the very form of Time and even beyond it. Those who realized God can see the past, present and the future, as clearly as an image reflected in a mirror. If we listen attentively to the Voice of God, we can clearly hear the Divine Command which directs us to the good. We might not know every bit of life, but can get a broad vision of why and how of the things that are going to happen.
To those who have full faith in God and observe the rules of right conduct to the letter and spirit, life is like an open book. They do not worry about the future. Baba clearly promises His devotees a glorious future through His words. Baba objected twice by saying "no" to Damu Anna's wish for starting a new business venture. Faith in Baba saved Damu Anna from incurring huge financial losses. We should be willing to readily accept anything that will happen to us before we want to know our future. We should firmly believe that whatever Baba does is for our own good. Let us place our lives in His secure hands.

Only the Body gets Aged, not the Mind

Old age is the last phase of life. It is another stage of childhood. Mind should get mellowed in old age. If one spends the old age with noble ideals, love towards all living beings and devotion to Baba, one can be immensely happy. Thus, the last phase of life can be turned into the best phase. It is unfortunate to consider old age as miserable and gloomy. With the advancing age, we can live happily and get contentment by praying to Baba and singing hymns in praise of His glory. Of what use old age if it is spent, devoid of devotion and urge for self-liberation and without the constant remembrance of Sainath?
Baba starts any work beautifully and accomplishes it with excellence. He will make lives meaningful of those who repose trust in Him. For this, we should give and share true love, affection, intimacy and show more concern in old age, when compared to the concern we had during youth. The conjugal relationship will become perfect only when the couple assist each other in spiritual pursuits during their old age. We should know that the different phases of life gifted by God are equally important. "Not merely adding years to life, but to ably fill life into years". Our duty is to know this truth and then be thankful to Baba who fills sweetness in every second of our life. Old age is not a burden, but a boon to reach Baba.

As Body Needs Nourishment, so also the Soul Needs Meditation

The individual soul is part of the Universal Soul. The soul in the body makes it a home and experiences the piled-up sins and merits of past life and finally frees itself from the bondage. Some people deny the presence of soul within their being by showing utmost care and concern only for their bodies. While not neglecting the care of the human body, we must strive to awaken the awareness of the Soul-presence within us. We have to leave behind wealth amassed when we breathe our last. What accompanies us when soul departs from body are the deeds of merit and sin committed when we were alive. Material wealth, name and fame we acquired never help our self-purification.
If we keep aside the need for spirituality and crave for the ephemeral physical needs, what remains is only dissatisfaction. Just as the nutritious food is necessary for body's strength, spiritual nourishment through meditation is as much a necessity. Without physical strength, human body will not last long. So also the pace of spiritual practice gets halted by lack of soul-strength. Daily meditation on the Divine One not only energizes the soul but also rids us of negative thoughts and leads to Self-realization. By regular reading of Sai's teachings, we can put into practice His sayings for our Self-enlightenment.

I shall be Ever Active and Vigorous Even After Leaving this Earthly Body

A doubt creeps in many, whether God would protect them or not despite offering regular prayers. But, we need not get such a doubt in the case of Baba, because He assured "I am Ever-Active and vigorous even after leaving My Earthly Body". God will assume human form to save the humanity, console them and move them on to the right path by teaching human values and finally makes them to be like Him. "Though I am shedding My mortal coil, I shall never leave the precincts of your minds", thus assured Baba. Physical body is composed of five elements viz., earth, water, fire, air and sky.
'Ever-Active' is one of the key words in Baba's assurance to us. Despite His absence in body, the ever-watchful Sai protects His devotees at all times. He is aware of the pregnancy of Mainatayi, daughter of Nana Saheb in Jamnagar and saved her life from the pangs of birth and blessed her deliver a baby safely by sending the sacred ash with Bhavagiri Bapu. Likewise, He slaked Nanachandorkar's thirst on the hill of Harischandra. Again by thrusting His hand into the fire-place at Dwarakamayi, Baba could hold and save a child from falling into the burning furnace in the house of an iron smith. Even after His Samadhi, Baba has been safeguarding the lives of millions of His devotees.

Why do We Worship Baba in Human Form?

In every age, God incarnates on the earth in the human form to reveal us the right path. He established righteousness by incarnating as Lord Rama, Sri Krishna, Jesus Christ, Prophet Mohammed, Buddha and Mahavir to show us the right path of worship. Again, He incarnated as Sai Baba at Shirdi to teach us the gospel of religious tolerance. Although Baba was born in flesh and blood, the mind-boggling love-miracles that Baba performed testify that He is a God-Man. Baba attended to the worldly duties not with the desires of an ordinary human being. In fact, He is not bound by any duty in any of the three worlds. Yet, Baba performed His duty without any disregard, so that people may follow the example set by His Life.
It is a gross mistake to assume that there exists no difference between Baba and us simply because He moved among us as a normal being. Baba assumed the human form out of His free will and infinite love to liberate His erring children from past life deeds. Baba, the God Incarnate, descended to restore the Law of Moral Order and to install the spirit of divine life in all souls. The veil of illusion blinds us from beholding the divine human form of Baba. Only the Eye of Faith can see Baba in all creatures and beings. To sense the presence of Baba, everywhere and in everyone is to deserve His Divine Grace.

Why Do You Fear, When Baba is Near?

In this world, man gets frightened for two reasons. One is sorrow about the past and another is worry about the future. Baba wants us not to fear anything. He assured that He will always be with us. Baba is our Father. When we firmly believe that we are His children, where is the need to fear? If we are afraid of everything, it means we have no faith in Baba. Lack of faith causes more stress, tension and fear. When we cast all our burdens and rely on Him in confident expectation, our bodies and minds rest in peace and solace and experience ever-new delight. We get so much satisfaction and happiness that it cannot be expressed in words. It is the experience of our elders that they did not worry about anything, as long as they looked to God installed in their hearts.
The moment we begin to believe in Baba, our sorrows will vanish. Baba has questioned His devotees a number of times "Don't you still believe Me"? If our faith in Baba is firm, we can lead a peaceful life, because it is Baba who will be always with us. God will grant us power, love and peace, but not fear. Armed with this faith, let us make use of our thought, time, intellect and life in the contemplation of God. If all our burdens are cast on Baba, as a Compassionate Protector, He would take us into His fold. Why should we fear, when Baba is near and is within us?

Only by Ardent wish we get Spiritual Bliss

Ego and arrogance will lead to the fall of a man. If we seek refuge in God with confessions, even the most heinous crimes will be burnt to ashes. True confession means repenting for the sins done earlier and resolving not to repeat them. God knows a sincere heart. Those who regret sincerely will be much disturbed with their sins, seek Baba's shelter and beg for the spiritual alms. Then, their sins get destroyed in the divine contemplation and the earnest souls receive the grace of God. The Almighty will illumine them with right thoughts.
Some deceptive people claim themselves to be the paragons of moral values and ethical conduct and assume inwardly that they are the ideal men. They think that their crimes are not so big and need not take refuge at the Feet of Baba. Such people who feign honesty and pray to God to destroy the incidental sins will not be graced by Baba and are never allowed near. Since their minds are bloated with ego and pride, they will either be in a mood to receive what Baba wants to give or try to understand and apply Baba's teachings for their good. Thus, Baba did not permit the arrogant inside Dwarakamayi. Only when their minds get purified by sincere repentance, Baba would permit them into His darbar. So, upon our ardent longing to belong to Baba only, we are assured of living in His Presence.

Grace and Faith Equals Liberation

It is true, none will perish who repose faith in Baba and it is equally true that Baba blesses the faithful devotees. When faith and grace are combined, it ensures liberation. It is a state where the devotee and God only exist. To reach this state, faith must flow from the devotee so that God showers His Grace. Concentration is required to stabilize faith. Human mind is very fickle by nature and hence its attention gets distracted. But, when once the mind concentrates on a concept or form, all our sense organs and feelings will get centered around it.
Once, such power of concentrated attention is attained, no force can distract us. The Omnipotent Baba will activate this state of mind and thereby stabilize our unflinching loyalty to Him. It is a Herculean task to attain self-liberation by our own efforts. Only the Merciful Baba's grace can ensure our self-liberation. Even the most wicked person will become pious and get liberated by faithfully surrendering to the will of the Divine One. Without faith, even a pious person cannot attempt to experience bliss. Let the belief remain strong that the abundant grace of the All-powerful Baba will grant liberation. We should be conscious that Baba grants all that we need. Thus, when our faith in God enjoins with the Omnipresent Baba's Grace, attaining salvation becomes easier.

Baba's Lotus Feet - A Confluence Of Holy Rivers

The river water contains several medicinal properties. Taking a dip in the currents of holy rivers would purify both the external body and internal soul. Thus, Dasganu sought Baba's permission to take a bath in the holy Godavari river. But Baba wished to grant a holy bath of Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswathi rivers to his beloved devotee. "Why do you go such far? Our prayaga is here now, Believe Me" Baba said so. And Lo! From Baba's Lotus Feet gushed the waters of the three holy rivers, Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswathi. Immediately Dasganu bowed to Baba's Feet with reverence. Spell-bound and elated, Dasganu sang psalms in praise of Baba's Glory. Thus, for His devotees Baba would prove His boundless power as the Highest of the High and would teach the way to be at peace with oneself.
Although God moved among us in human form, His incredible miracles and deeds of mercy proved His Divine Power. Baba is the Merciful God who would rush to save the devotees who fervently pray to Him. Baba's miracles attracted many to Shirdi, the Source of Abundant Life and Joy. Dasganu, an intimate devotee of Baba and a ballad singer, composed Baba's Glory into story and songs and used to sing them. Several others like Cholkar heard them, prayed and received Baba's blessings. Let us implore Baba, to be always with us and protect us.

Awaiting For Baba's Love In The Evening Of One's Life

Indeed, this is the sunset hour
The bygone life's final juncture
It's time, children like sparrows flew away
It's time, like an orphan, I ought to remain at bay
I imagined, yes, everyone as mine
I accede now, I am alone
My journey is towards You, O! Baba
Can't You cast Your look on me, O! Baba
After shouldering family burdens, I feel tired
Unable to move, with old age I feel retired
Before You I stand, seeking shelter
Shower mercy and protect me, O Sai dear
Indeed "Sai's Lap" is a pleasant place,
To rest in the evening of one's life's phase.

Sai Baba used to address "Dwarakamayi" as "Mother". Baba is like a Father to those who take refuge in Him. Baba is God, Preceptor, Father and the Holy Light which dispels the darkness in our minds. Parents are capable of not only providing physical strength but also spiritual strength. Though Mhalsapathy did not know the name of Baba, sensing the Divine Aura around, he addressed Baba for the first time, as, 'Sai! Please do come'. 'Sai' means 'saint' or 'swami'. The calling of the name 'Sai' by the great devotee Mhalsapathy was accepted by all and it became a permanent name. Nobody knew whether He had any earlier name or not. Sa means Sat or 'Truth' or Satya, Aayi means 'Mother' and Baba means 'Father'. It can be elaborated as union of the Purusha (Supreme Soul) with Prakrithi (Nature). The unique name 'Sai Baba' reveals that the Truth-Light as the Heavenly Father and the Divine Mother manifested at Shirdi.
Even the science of mantra says, 'Sai' means the 'integrated soul of Purusha and Prakriti'. 'Sa' is the Supreme Soul's Bijakshara (holy seed letter). 'Ee' is the holy seed letter of Cosmic Mother. On combining the two Bijaksharas, they become 'Sayee'. And, Baba means Father and God. Baba is the Divine Manifestation who holds within Him the love of biological parents who give human birth to us and the Preceptor and Protector of all.

It is Enough to Follow the Foot-Prints of God

God is All-knowing. Although we may not know what we are doing, but He is quite aware of everything we do. As long as we remain loyal and follow in His foot-steps, He would lead us on the right path like a True Leader. He would be walking ahead and leading us on the right path of upright behaviour. Then His path becomes our path and the destination is what He leads to. We should never feel arrogant with our limited knowledge and skills. We have to move under the supervision of Baba, who is beyond our imagination and who is Omnipotent. If Baba says 'No' to someone's request for leaving Shirdi, it would mean that the journey would not be safe. On some occasions, Baba would ask people longing to stay to immediately leave Shirdi. That journey proved to be very good for them. If we obediently follow His commands, there is no possibility of committing mistakes.
When we are going ahead fearlessly under the protective arms of Baba, even the most severe of calamities would recede on seeing us. Baba is the one with great spiritual powers to keep us safe even in the face of most dangerous times. When the nature caused havoc in Shirdi, He controlled it and protected people who sought His shelter by commanding the furious elements to calm down. Therefore, with sincere faith, we should follow Baba and it will do immense good for us.

Om Sai, Sri..Sai.... Jaya... Jaya... Sai

'Omkaram' is the combination of Au, Vu and Um. This is the primordial sound eternally vibrating in the animate and in-animate beings. Omkara is the root of our Vedas. Sai Maharaj who manifested Himself in Shirdi as Sadguru awakens the divine power of Omkara within us through His teachings and leelas. Sai is the Creator, Savior and the Witness of this world.
If we utter 'Om Sai', Sai will kindle the power of Omkara in us. Shri means 'all good, happiness and wealth'. Only if we utter Shri Sai, He will shower on us all the good things in the world with kindness. The utterance of Sri Sai is the blessed mantra that absolves us from all sins. Jaya means 'victory'. 'Jaya, Jaya' means a series of grand victories. If we utter Jaya jaya Sai, Sai Maharaj will bestow on us all the victories we yearn. If we constantly chant Om Sai, Sri Sai, Jaya Jaya Sai or sing bhajans in thought, word and deed, it will cause such a powerful impact that Baba will free us from the Karmic cage of birth-death-re-birth and liberates our souls. The place where the non-stop chanting of Sai's Name is done, gets charged and purified by the holy vibrations. Sainath will manifest and shower His blessings on us and fulfil the goal of our human birth. Now, let us move on... Let us ceaselessly chant Sai's Name and become worthy of attaining self-liberation.

We Need not be a Millionaire to Give Charity
(http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SSnfuByYfmw/TVd9FwQk9zI/AAAAAAAAOh0/FV-1Ob8Sj9o/s1600/We%2BNeed%2Bnot%2Bbe%2Ba%2BMillionaire%2Bto%2BGive%2BCharity.Eng.jpg)

An Abode of The Divine Master

In Shirdi village, at the age of sixteen, Sri Sai Baba appeared under a neem tree for His devotees. By that time, He was an enlightened soul and no one knew His parentage and lineage.
On one occasion god Khandoba possessed on the bodies of two men who were asked by the people gathered there to announce who the great soul underneath the neem tree was. They were commanded to dig with a crow bar under the tree. On so digging up, they found bricks and on removal of which a big stone-like door was sighted. When it was pushed aside, a stair-way led to an underground structure, where on the cemented floor, four wick lamps, beautiful rosaries and a cloth for placing them were seen. God Khandoba announced that the boy did penance there for twelve years. Thereupon, the humble villagers questioned the boy about it and He replied that it was His Guru's abode, a very holy place and, therefore, as in the past, it would be better to close and keep it safe. People did as he said so. The boy, who left Shirdi returned as Sai Baba, hallowed Shirdi for sixty years by His presence and healed, helped and enlightened whoever met Him by His miracles and message of love and service. Baba assured that whoever performs Guru Pooja on Thursday at the abode of His Guru will be blessed of self-liberation.

Your smile makes me happy

Baba...Your smile makes me happy
Baba you are the tallest of all
I am the smallest of all
You are elder and made me milder
I am younger and thought, to me you are closer
I am your servant and you are my Savior
I am indebted to you; you have every right on me
I am selfish Yet you love me
You love me as the ocean loves a wave
And in turn I love you as a drop loves the wave

When the lights go out

If Darkness surrounds and night breaks
Fear wakes up and looks
Mother would suggest to sleep with closed lids
But who dares to chase out the dark ghosts
Baba heard my voice and saw my fear
Told me that nothing to worry when I' am here
Truth always hails
How Baba would narrate stories and It's all fun,
He never fails
I listen to the stories told by Baba
Mother would praise, Baba is Baba
Whoever obeys his commandments?
Would always get compliments.

With Baba's Grace, Our future Unfolds
Like an Open Book

If We follow Health Rules, we can never fall Sick
Human life is a great boon. We should do virtuous deeds with this body, purify the soul and reach God. Thus, our body which is meant for getting liberation from the cycle of birth and death should be carefully taken care of. But it does not mean that we must have too much attachment with the body. Both the body and mind must be kept pure. We should purify the heart as soon as we wake up in the morning. Proper food and exercise will keep the body fit and healthy. Only when the body is healthy, the mind too can be firm and longs to meditate on Baba.
Talkativeness breeds troubles. So, we should speak to the point in a pleasant tone. Our conduct is also important to our health. Just as the dragon-fly sucks nectar without disturbing the pollen, so also we should behave without hurting others. We should take fresh and tasty food in limited quantities. But some people observe fast in the name of devotion. But, Baba never encouraged such practice. By ensuring discipline during the day, we have to take limited food at dusk and meditate for a while on Baba before going to bed. Rules that regulate and restrain our body and mind, help keep them healthier too. Those who have the wealth of health can peacefully render service to Baba and the society. We should not ignore the truth that by using this mortal body we can reach the eternal abode of Baba.

Old age is not a burden, but a boon to reach Baba

Baba will Mould Your Weakness into Strength And Prove its Might
(http://www.saispoorthi.org/images/bhavana/sbg_24.jpg)

How Wonderful Human Birth is!

For each individual, a mission in life is fixed by God. Only those who have grasped their objective in life will succeed. Baba used to comment, "There is nothing wrong in failing to accomplish an objective, but having no objective is a blunder". Trees give us the comfort of cool shade, flowers and fruits, without anticipating anything in return from us. Cows yield milk as a mark of gratitude for the fodder we feed them. Selflessly, the clouds shower rain and the rivers share their waters to irrigate the farm lands. On a deeper analysis, we could understand that every creature in this universe, by one way or other, possess the noble quality of sacrifice. It is not justified if we, the humans, blessed as we are with the power of discretion and intellect, live lazily without any sense of direction or mission in life.
Baba loves us as dearly as He loves every living being in the Universe. Our inner voice of the soul would guide us on the right path to successful living once we know the truth that we should fulfil the definite mission in our lives blessed by the Divine Love and Grace of Baba. The power in our hands can carve out a statue from a stone or leave it as a boulder. So, let us not waste our precious life and keep praying to Baba to help us achieve the definite purpose of our life.

Lap of the Sai
This is the twilight of life and sun vanishes
When the strength of youth diminishes
Children have gone out like swans
We remain here alone as orphans
Believed all as my kith and kin and fine
But learnt, none is mine
My journey is towards you Sainath
Show mercy lead me into a right path
Tired of mundane life and household
Lost the strength but I am in your fold
Sai, support me this is my request
Sai's lap is the best in East or West
I bow to you, I asked you heaven never
I surrender, always Oh, Sree Sai to you for ever...

Lend a Helping Hand of Love

Everyone in the world faces the wrath of suffering and feels perturbed and tormented with one or the other problem, disturbance or grief. Love is something like a drop of nectar or a beam of light that gives relief from such unrest. Who will not yearn for such love? Everyone needs love, kind looks, sympathy and a cool touch that makes us bold. We, as devotees of Baba, should share it with one and all. Pure love, in fact, is the other form of God. At times, even a trivial problem might create mounting tension in man. God is nowhere else but in the hearts of everyone who has a kind and loving heart. We, the devotees of Baba, who is Love-Incarnate, should understand the problems of others, pat their back with love and encourage them by saying 'Do not fear, God is great. You will definitely get the desired results'. By doing so, even we get the love and grace of Baba. He would shower His blessings on us.
A simple smile that spreads love, a word of courage and solace will have enormous beneficial impact on the suffering lot. They dare to go ahead with such an assurance from us. All are the children of God. If someone deviates from the right path or suffers from agony and despair, we should lift their spirits, lend them a helping hand and lead them on the right path. By these actions of love and care, Baba showers His Grace on us.

Tortoise Grows under its Watchful Mother's Eye
(http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_-l3O7o5jJVE/S9k7RUSUlRI/AAAAAAAAKAo/7--82lp7t6M/s700/apr_29.jpg)

A great amount of knowledge is hidden in the human mind. But the light of wisdom is veiled by the illusion of ignorance and nescience. Education or learning is an attempt to remove them. A teacher will help the student grow and glow in the light of the teachings. A disciple is like a plant and the teachings are like water, manure and sunlight which are vital for the growth. So also an enlightened master helps his disciple grow wiser and stronger. The words of a teacher are like adding yoghurt to milk. On adding a drop of curd into milk, it becomes curd. Sai, God Incarnate, descended to the earth as the Perfect Master to light the lamp of wisdom in us. To illustrate this point, He used to give the example of the baby tortoise that grows under the love-exuding watchful eyes of its mother. Sai Baba's presence is like adding a drop of curd to milk. We have to remember and chant His name and feel that He is close around us. Then, with the divine support of His teachings, we can gradually acquire wealth of spiritual wisdom. When Baba is our Constant Companion, our mind illumined by His words, our life becomes meaningful and joyful by His Grace.

Self-Realization is but God-Realization
(http://www.saispoorthi.com/sai_images/apr_30.jpg)

On seeing a beautiful flower, it is but natural to exclaim 'how beautiful!' However, we will not acknowledge God who created it. The desire to possess a beautiful object of the nature is a sign of sheer selfishness. With this egoistic view, a person cannot identify his relationship with God. Thus, Baba would at first fulfil the material desires of His devotees in order to slowly kindle the spark of devotion. A person with a spiritual bent of mind would long for a glimpse of God. Narendranath used to meet every saint and would ask 'have you seen God? Can you show me God?' Thus, concentration and longing would increase in a person who yearns to see God. In fact, the sages who realized God told Narendranath, 'You are the other form of God'.
In the Bhagavad Geeta, Lord Krishna proclaimed 'I shall dwell as fire in the living beings'. But, the devotee would be agitated before he acquires perfection in practice to see God who dwells within him. The musk deer would search for the musk in the entire forest unaware of the fragrance oozing out from its navel. Likewise, the practicing devotee would wander in the path of knowledge and devotion in search of God. The moment he comes across a spiritual teacher, who lights the lamp of wisdom, he will get self-realization and experience the ever-new joy by seeing the Blissful Sai within His own being.

We should not think, ours is the Only Right Path
Having faith in God and moving on the right path, a person acquires merit. Even what we receive through practice should be deemed as if bestowed by the grace of God. We should never think that we alone are the great practitioners or noble persons. If we assume so, even little mistakes of others would appear magnified. The path of righteousness is paved with love and not through microscopic examination of other's mistakes. The quality of love is mercy. To err is human; to forgive is divine. We are able to live as good persons because Merciful God forgives our mistakes and puts us on the right path. We have to set right the mistakes of others and try to put them back on the right path.
We come across instances where parents punish children or husband reprimands his wife for trivial issues. Instead, if we make them realize what their mistakes were, there is every possibility that they may mend their mistakes. Tears of repentance would wash their sins. "In fact, who are we to punish? What right do we have to punish others? Are there not pitfalls in the path we think as right?" The right thing is to give advice and persuade them with love. We, therefore, have to shed ego that we alone are great. We should always pray to Baba to forgive our mistakes done out of ignorance, enrich the quality of mercy and take us nearer to Him and make us dearer to Him.

Adoring the Teacher
Word is the divine power which throws light on the Unmanifested Supreme Soul. However powerful one may be, without education one is branded as a dumb brute. Education is knowledge. That is true education which imparts the knowledge that the visible world is not long lasting and the attainment of the Supreme Reality, the embodiment of ever-new joy, is the prime purpose of life. A teacher dispels darkness and equips one with knowledge; whereas, an enlightened teacher guides a disciple in the light of wisdom to realize God. For the teacher who helps unite the individual soul with the Universal Soul, we should bow with deep reverence saying "glory be to the Guru, the God". While protecting the body for the maintenance of dharma, we should restrain the mind and sense organs. The very purpose of human life is to merge with God by the practice of the priceless spiritual wisdom acquired by the grace of Guru.
God descends as the World-Teacher in the Age of Kaliyuga when the humans digress from the path of righteousness. The Triple Form of the Divine Absolute incarnates as Lord Dattatreya to set the tradition of master and disciple. Sai, God Incarnate, by the touch of His grace, turned many an atheist and the arrogant as His devotees and showed them the path to divinity. We get several instances of proof of Shirdi Sai's Grace.

The Five Elements at the Command of Baba
God initially created the five elements before He created the Universe. They are very vital to creation. The sky, wind, fire, water and earth are the five creative elements to be venerated. We respect the Mother Earth. Only when the five elements maintain balance, coordination and calm, all beings can live in peace and order. If not, earthquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions, thunder storms will frighten us.
When the five elements raise there heads and unleash fury, mankind would firmly hold on to the Divine Feet. The inhabitants of Shirdi did the same thing. They believed that Baba was an ordinary Fakir who sat under the neem tree. When rain caused havoc with lightening, thunder and fierce wind, a few true believers flocked Baba. True to their faith in Baba, He controlled the nature's fury with ire-filled eyes. The weather became calm again. In the horizon, the Sun God burst into light. Baba's aura evenly spread out like the sunlight. The faith in Baba among the masses gained strength. When the tongues of flame in the Dhuni, fire-place, leaped up, Baba controlled them with a stroke of His Satka, a small stick. Baba, the Creator of the five elements, commanded them to calm down for the welfare of the people. We, the children of God, should similarly inculcate the spirit of kindness and work for universal welfare.

I shall be Ever Active and Vigorous Even
After Leaving this Earthly Body

To establish an Old Age Home "SAI ODI" (The lap of Sai)
and give shelter to the abandoned, decrepit Senior Citizens
.
Lap of the Sai
This is the twilight of life and sun vanishes
When the strength of youth diminishes
Children have gone out like swans
We remain here alone as orphans
Believed all as my kith and kin and fine
But learnt, none is mine
My journey is towards you Sainath
Show mercy lead me into a right path
Tired of mundane life and household
Lost the strength but I am in your fold
Sai, support me this is my request
Sai's lap is the best in East or West
I bow to you, I asked you heaven never
I surrender, always Oh, Sree Sai to you for ever...

Aum Sai Sri Sai Jai Jai Sai

Money Cannot Buy Everything

Human greed for money is increasing day by day, so also avarice and selfishness. People have started believing that money and wealth are very important. Assuming that money is the world's key factor, they want to make money by any means. But money cannot buy peace of mind which is very crucial to one's life. Medicines will not work when mind is in disorder. It is a reality that money plays an important role in certain things. Money serves as a useful tool to those who are financially helped in their dire need. We should realize the fact that money would be useful to fulfil earthly needs, but not helpful to attain salvation. One Swamiji had scores of devotees, disciples in different parts of the world. Among them, one rich but greedy devotee accumulated lots of money by not even spending on his own food. One day he called on the Swamiji. Having heard about his nature before, Swamiji gave a needle to him and asked him to carefully preserve it and it could be returned on reaching heaven. The rich man asked as to how can a needle be carried with him after death. Swamiji questioned him with a gleam of smile, 'what is the use of your piled up money'? You cannot carry it after death. Is it not! Baba used to accept dakshina from several people but distributed it on the same day. We should, therefore, donate part of our money to the needy. Charity is the heart of Divinity.

Those who cannot Render Social Service can Help those who Serve Others
(http://www.saispoorthi.com/sai_images/apr_15.jpg)
Man always wants to live in happiness in whichever state he is placed. To experience such happiness, man should search for God and not for mere food or clothing. But, where does God dwell? It is told that the place of worship of the devotee is God's Abode. Indeed, God dwells in the hearts of those who love Him. Self-realized people have to offer themselves at the altar of God by serving people around them. Serving the needy among the society is indeed serving the Divinity.
God comes to the rescue of the people in the form of fellow human beings. God makes use of us as His instruments to fulfill His Will of helping the needy. However, every one of us may not have the capacity to determine the path that leads to God-realization. Yet, we need not despair. There are several means of rendering social service. We could help the weak and the helpless within our capacity. To a dedicated social worker, help and support can be given either in cash or kind or by labour. If we plant a tiny seed, it grows into a big tree, gives shelter and satisfies the hunger of many. Same is the case with our service to the society. Likewise, if we render selfless and whole-hearted service to the best of our ability, we will become worthy of enjoying Baba's boundless grace.

There shall be no want in the house of My devotees
Spiritual values mark the life of a devotee. We must forgive our enemies and love all. Our mind must be freed from thoughts of greed, cruelty, scandal-mongering and selfishness. We must be contented and live in peace, realizing the truth that money cannot buy peace of mind. We must erase our ego and savour the spiritual treasure of dwelling in the Divine Presence of Baba and restrain from getting lured by the worldly pleasures. Nothing will be lacking in the house of a God-conscious devotee. One may lack good health, peace of mind or material riches. Wants are endless and of course multiply upon fulfilling them. Being a slave to wants, man is never content or happy. But Baba's devotees are an exception as they have strong will-power and rock-like faith in His Grace. 'Want' or 'lack' does not bother them as they are aware that nothing can be obtained without His Grace and whatever they really deserve is provided at the right time. They believe that Baba is the ruler of their lives. Irrespective of the onerous responsibilities one has to shoulder, Baba's devotees live without fear or anxiety as they know that whatever will happen will be at His Will and whatever one enjoys is also gifted by God. Hence, Baba, in His Eleventh Divine Assurance, promises: "There shall be no want in the house of My devotees".

Short And purposeful life is better than A worthless long life

Life is like a water-bubble. But philanthropic pursuits and prayers to God would direct us to reach Him. This mundane world may end up, but the Will of God is eternal. All the external embellishments are momentary, except the invisible and eternal Omnipotent Universal Power of God. The cycle of birth and death recurs as per the divine will. Therefore, every individual must lead a purposeful life, love everyone and spend time in Godly thoughts. "Loving neighbors is virtue, harming others is sin", is the message one finds in the scriptures. In a bid to save Sita, bird Jatayu fought with Ravana and sacrified its life. Though Ravana lived a long life, he met a ghastly end. The short-lived life of Jatayu is thus an example of a noble life of self-sacrifice for a better cause rather than living a long, worthless life.
One has to totally surrender to God instead of wasting time to fulfil worldly pleasures. A little bit of service we render will be priceless in the eyes of God. A short-lived, purposeful life is far better than a worthless, long life. One should not count the years one lived, but how the years were spent. Serving the needy and compassion for one and all would draw us more closer to God. Better to live like a swan for a short span rather than a long-living crow.

Wealth Multiplies as We Share it With Others

God has provided us with abundant wealth and thereby assigned us the duty of making good use of it. But the wealth given to us is meant for sharing it with others. By hoarding it greedily, it becomes the cause of abject poverty. Baba makes use of us as His instruments to fulfil His nobler ends. The major objective of the Sai Master is to uplift the poor and the helpless. We are only the custodians and trustees of the wealth but not its owners. The wealth Baba gives us is endless. It multiplies upon sharing it with others. If we fail to discharge the duty of a trustee, we may have to lose the wealth gifted to us by the Merciful Baba.
By virtue of good past life, some wealthy people are treated as "trustees of wealth" by Baba. However, the possession of wealth does not mean construction of granaries and iron safes to store it with a greedy mind. We should never get enslaved by gross selfishness and greediness when Baba blesses us grow richer and prosperous. Unspent and hoarded wealth may go waste or get lost by theft. Then, nothing remains with us. Therefore, we must give up our ego and greed and donate money for good cause. The Supreme Master, Sai Baba would appreciate our service and increase our fund of wealth by many folds. We must always remember and follow the ideal of Baba set before us, viz. 'The wealth gets multiplied by sharing it with the needy'.

A devotee feels perplexed when his scooter stops abruptly at a deserted place. He wonders, "why did Baba trouble me thus"? When he noticed boulders rolling down the hill and blocking the road, he realized how Baba saved his and his family's lives by stopping his scooter. His grateful heart thanked Baba for saving him from death. Both tears and smiles, joys and sorrows are for our good, as long as Baba showers His Grace on us.

Whoever Puts His Feet on Shirdi Soil
His Sufferings Would Come to an End

Baba shows us the peaceful path by assuring that 'Whoever puts his feet on Shirdi soil, his sufferings would come to an end. The entry to Shirdi itself is an end of all misery'. Human life is a mixture of pain and pleasure. Darkness is followed by light. We become diffident and impatient in grief. For people caught in the mid-sea of sorrows, Shirdi shrine is an Abode of Peace. The Power of Sai's Divinity, which envelops Shirdi, answers our every right prayer. Baba directly assures us "Come, come to Shirdi! Mother Sai waits for you in all times, to soothe your sorrow-stricken hearts with love". To the Merciful Sai Mother, all, irrespective of their caste or creed, are Her children. The soil of Shirdi is eager to feel the touch of the foot-prints of her children.

We should become Sai's children before entering Shirdi. And to become worthy children of Baba, we have to offer, 'faith and patience' in the form of two spiritual coins of donation. Those who enter Shirdi in full faith, will get rid of all troubles and problems. Assuring that Shirdi is not an ordinary land but the land of the Spirit-Power, Baba has been comforting the grief- stricken and relieving the hardships of the mankind

even today. Shirdi, in fact, is our heavenly abode. Let us seek the shelter of Shirdi and live in Supreme Peace and Ever-new Bliss.

Baba's unique Feats of Dhouti and Khanda Yoga

Sri Sai Baba is the Great Seer and Maha Yogi. He is the Supreme Spirit who meditated on His Guru, chanting Allah Malik. He is, indeed, the Highest of the High who did not reveal the secrets of His incarnation and lived as a Fakir. He excelled in the yogic practices like dhouti, Khanda yoga etc.

There was a well far away from the Mosque. Baba used to go there every three days to wash his face or take bath. At that time Baba used to disembowel his entrails, clean them with water and dry them on the branch of a black apple tree. Some persons in Shirdi witnessed it. Normally in the dhouti method of Yoga, a cloth of 22 feet in length and 3 inches in width is swallowed and kept in the stomach for half an hour. Then it was taken out after it cleansed the intestines. But Baba's dhouti technique was unique and incredible. Baba's performance of Khanda Yoga was even greater. One day a person went to the Mosque and there he found Baba's head, torso and feet lying scattered. Fearing that Baba was murdered, he ran out. He did not tell anybody about it, afraid that people would hold him as a culprit. Yet, out of curiosity, he went to the mosque with other devotees, and was stunned to see Baba was alive, flashing His cool benign smile as that of the moon. Through these incredible yogic feats, Baba revealed His Divinity.

Blessed to be a Flute-------------
God is all pervading.

Baba is waiting for Your call
God is the greatest one who has created the vast universe. Therefore, the relationship between God and His devotee is like that of a father and child. Devotees cannot keep quiet without thinking of 'Baba' in heart. While taking food or asleep or in joy or sorrow, devotees would always chant the name 'Sai' or 'Baba'. And Baba too always waits for our call and is ever-awake to solve our problems. Engrossed in mundane life, we call Baba only when we are in dire need of His help. Once our hardships are overcome, we forget Baba-our minds clouded by illusion. One thought of remembrance of Ever-Blissful Baba wards off our difficulties. How much more Ever-New Joy we can experience once we install Sai on the silver throne of our hearts-Baba, the Wish-fulfilling Tree?
We have love and devotion to Baba. But it has been mixed up with various desires and selfishness. Now, let us pray to Baba with a pure, desire-free heart and unflinching faith, "Baba! I have no desires; I need Your holy presence. Please do make our hearts the foot-stool of Your Lotus Feet". And see how Baba runs to us and rains His grace on us. Baba, the Mother of Mercy, who has been fulfilling our desires, will readily respond to our heart-felt calls and gets Himself seated on the throne of our hearts.

Do not Imitate Others in the Mode of Worship
God is the Embodiment of Eternal Light. There are many paths to reach Him. We must choose the one which we like. In whichever path we move, we should not forget that we can reach God only with single-minded devotion. To some, the path of devotion appears simple. There are devotees who realize God by listening to His glories, chanting His Name and meditating on Him. Some others treat God as a mother, friend, lover and a master. No need for the mastery of logic to realize the Divine Master. Fervent prayers and firm devotion would please God.One devotee objected to another devotee who was serving Baba by vigorously massaging the stomach and torso of Baba. Baba felt annoyed. Baba would see the intensity of pure love-devotion of a devotee before he accepts his or her service to Him. Moreover, He would manifest in whatever form we worship Him. None can interfere between a devotee and God. If true love springs in heart, the intensity of such divine love guides us to reach God through any one or other medium. We need not imitate others who may worship God by offering golden flowers or serve tasty dishes. Although Mhalsapathy was very poor, the All-Compassionate Baba embraced him and even saved his family too. We must totally offer our mind to God and not imitate or worry about the religious rituals practised by others.

Baba Touches and Blesses the Scriptures

The words in the holy utterances are also like the words in our common speech. Yet, by the teaching of Guru, the words get sanctified and empowered. Likewise, the words in an ordinary book, when taught by a Guru, come alive, reveal the Truth-Light and become sweet and immortal. Like a mother who knows what food to feed the child, a Guru is well aware of what to teach and which book to be read by whom. Baba, the Living God of our times, used to touch and treat the Holy Scriptures with great respect in order to make His faithful devotees appreciate the importance of reading holy books.
When, Bapusaheb Jog received a parcel of Tilak's book on Geeta Rahasya, Baba returned it, after touching and placing a rupee coin on it, as a mark of respect. Once Baba presented a copy of Vishnu Sahasranama owned by one Ramadasi, to His close devotee Shyama and instructed him to read it. Again, Baba asked Shyama to present his copy of Pancharatna Geeta to Ramadasi who was peeved at the presentation of his book to Shyama. Baba advised him to shed attachment and cultivate the spirit of sacrifice. Shyama who got the book from Baba and Ramadasi who got the book from Shyama were doubly blessed. Not only did Baba present books but threw light on the teachings of the scriptures.

Let us Offer it to Baba Before We Partake the Food
(http://www.saispoorthi.com/sai_images/mar_26.jpg)
We should not partake any item of food before we first offer it to Baba. Usually our mind and intellect will experience these things before the senses. Therefore, by offering them to God, our worldly desires get diminished. Taking food is one of the important daily activities. Ordinary food becomes sanctified by offering it to God. But very few people have the habit of offering food to God before eating it.
There used to be a fair organized on each Sunday at Shirdi. On one Sunday, Hemadpant visited the fair and returned to masjid. Very surprisingly, edible grains fell from his shirt. Teasingly, Baba said, "this fellow is in the bad habit of eating alone. He has purchased and eaten grains". To this, Hemadpant replied that he neither purchased nor ate them. Baba then questioned him "Before eating anything, are you remembering Me"? Thus, Baba taught us that we should offer anything first to God. If we remember Baba and partake anything, we will be delighted. It is God who creates and sustains us. Whatever we get is because of His grace and kindness. To our Baba, the Sustainer, Protector and Father should be offered everything we acquire. Our humble duty is to offer all that we have and accept what Baba gives us back as sacred.
