जय सांई राम।।।

When something wrong happens through you the shadow of sorrow will surround you. The greater the wrong, the greater the anxiety and worry and suffering. Don't look upon suffering as a punishment, but rather as the outcome of wrong action.

If a man leaves the straight road and wanders into a jungle and then thorns prick him, he understands that he has gone off the track. Not being on the road, there are bound to be thorns. The man looks for the right track and gets back to the road; now no thorns prick him because there are none. When you hit against a wall and hurt your head, the wall is not punishing you. What has the wall to do with you? When you find the door you can go out easily without hurting your head.

It is just like this. The day you begin to recognize the law, you will have found the door. As long as you are oblivious of the rule you will keep knocking your head against the wall. How many times have you hurt yourself, how many wounds do you bear on your head? These are wounds you have gathered over millions of births that are oozing, festering, and causing endless pain. And you think someone is punishing you.

No one is punishing you; you are reaping your own harvest. Always bear in mind whenever you are unhappy you have gone against nature; whenever you are ill you are out of harmony with nature. Illness is a warning, a hint to you; as such it is helpful and for your own good. If there were no illness you would never know when you have left nature's path, or when you have gone against the eternal arrangement of life. Then you will keep wandering with no way for you to come back. Suffering and sorrow turns you back to God. This is why you remember Him when you are in pain and sorrow. In joy you never think of Him.

The saint prays: "Oh Lord, let there always be a little suffering as a reminder, so that we remain constantly in prayer, always calling out to you. If there is no pain or sorrow, we shall have no excuse to call You. In happiness we forget you; we shall be lost!"

Suffering means just one thing: you have wavered in religion somewhere, somehow.

Do not blame others, nor your fortune, nor be angry with God. Take it as a hint, a warning, and try to find out where you have slipped. Where have you gone against nature? Then try to fall in line with nature -- for that is religion.

FROM "LIFE OF SAI BABA" BY NARASIMHA SWAMI

……“Everything on earth is liable to change or mitigation and if we remember this, we shall be very often able to meet 'the objections sometimes raised to Sai Baba’s statement about karma. In the very opening Charters of Baba’s Charters & Sayings, we find the statement of Baba. ‘If one puts his foot on Shirdi soil, his karma is abolished’. Many a man wonders whether that is possible, especially in view of the dictum quoted above, “Avascyam Anubhoktavyam”. Baba also told Chandorkar that certain broad decisions arrived at as to the birth and death of people are treated as facts resulting from previous acts of inviduals.

Regarding birth of a child, death of son-in-law, etc., about which Chandorkar was anxious to make Baba work on his behalf, Baba declared that they were the result of previous karma and could not be altered. In a sense that is true. Certain births and certain deaths are all fixed by series of antecedent events, but yet Baba is able to mould these and shape these at certain stages and modify these for the benefit of the concerned devotees.

When talking of Dr. Chidambaram Pillai, Baba explained the correct doctrine. Dr. Pillai had intense suffering from guinea worm. He told a friend to go and report to Baba that his sufferings were intolerable and to request Baba to transfer these sufferings to some ten later births of his and leave him free from the sufferings in this janma. When this was reported to Baba, the latter sent for Pillai and told him, ‘What! you want ten janmas? What has to be endured in ten janmas can be crushed into ten days by the power of satpurushas.’

So Baba ordered him to remain with his legs outstretched at Dwarakamayee and he told him that a crow would come and peck at his wound and cure him. In a few days, Abdul, Baba’s permanent attendant, carelessly put his foot down upon Pillai’s wound and crushed all the guinea worms out of it, merely by accident as he (Pillai) would have thought. But nothing done at the Mosque to Pillai could be considered as an accident, and Baba said that Abdul was the crow, and that no further crow was wanted to peck at Pillai’s wound. Pillai was then asked to go home, and in ten days, the entire suffering from guinea worm was cured.

In another case, that of Bhimaji, who had serious chest disease, asthma, tuberculosis, etc., Baba first told Shama, ‘Shama, in bringing this thief to me what a load of responsibility you are placing on me!’ Baba meant that the tuberculosis, asthma, etc., from which Bhimaji suffered were the result of Bhiinaji’s karma in a previous janma consisting of theft. Bhimaji felt Babas declaration a blow. At once he surrendered himself to Baba and said, ‘Helper of the helpless! I am helpless. Pray show thy pity and grace to me’.

Then Baba’s tone changed. Baba told him, ‘The Fakir (God) is merciful, and your disease will be cured’. He was suffering from the results of a karma but that could be mitigated, and so the man was sent to live and sleep in a wet verandah. Bhimaji did so. There, he had two very dreadful dreams.

In one dream, he was mercilessly birched by a school master. For, in the dream he fancied he was a boy and the master was birching him. So, he felt the pain in the dream and he roared out. In the second dream, it was even worse. He felt that some one was placing a stone roller and rolling it over his breast. He suffered all the horror of instant death approaching him. All the pain of a hanging sentence and whipping sentence were endured by this man in the course of one night.

Baba thus changed the punishments which he had earned by his previous karma, and told him that he was thus free from karmic effects. He then recovered his health. The above instances go to show that most of our conceptions about karma are nebulous and ungrounded, and that the safest course for us to follow would be to be guided by the dicta of Satpurushas like Sai Baba.”……

A man went to a barbershop to have
his hair cut and his beard trimmed.

As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation.

They talked about so many things and various subjects.

When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said:

'I don't believe that God exists.'

'Why do you say that?' asked the customer. 'Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist.

Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people?

Would there be abandoned children?

If God existed, there would be neither
suffering nor pain.

I can't imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things.'

The customer thought for a moment,
but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument.

The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop.

Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard.

He looked dirty and unkempt. The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber:

'You know what? Barbers do not exist.'

'How can you say that?' asked the surprised barber. 'I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!'

'No!' the customer exclaimed. 'Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside.'

'Ah, but barbers DO exist! That's what happens when people do not come to me.'

'Exactly!' affirmed the customer. 'That's the point! God, too, DOES exist!

That's what happens when people do not go to Him and don't look to Him for help.

That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world.'

If you think God exists, send this to other people---

If you think God does not exist, delete it!

BE BLESSED & BE A BLESSING TO OTHERS !!!!! --

जय सांई राम।।।

Often we use the words "pain" and "suffering" together, as in "pain and suffering". Although somewhat related, the two are in fact very different.

Pain is something that happens to you. If an anvil falls on your toe, you will be in pain. If the love of your life leaves you to go off and marry another, you will be in pain. Pain is hat happens to you.

The immediate reaction to pain is suffering. Let's face it, the pain of the anvil cannot easily be ignored. The pain of losing a love is incredibly poignant. But once a person has the chance to get a grip on a situation, suffering is no longer a function of pain alone.

As the toe bones slowly heal, even as the pain continues to throb, you have the choice:

A) bemoan the pain, avoid moving about, essentially crippling yourself
B) living as normal a life as possible (playing soccer might still not be advisable)

As the broken heart slowly heals, even as the pain continues to throb, you have the choice:

A) bemoan the loss, avoid social activity, essentially crippling yourself
B) living as normal a life as possible (dating might still not be advisable)

What A) and A) have in common is that the suffering you choose can actually increase the pain. What B) and B) have in common is that the positivity you choose can actually decrease the pain.

Just because there is pain, there is no need to choose suffering, too.

Dukkha ( in Pali Language ) - Sorrow / Sadness / Suffering

Dukkha ( Sorrow / Sadness / Suffering ) - The First Noble Truth - The truth of sorrow

Dukkha is explaining sorrow, sadness and suffering. Not only that, it consists of incompleteness, instability, meaninglessness as well.

The Lord Buddha said that life consisted of sorrow, sadness and suffering. Human nature is not perfect. Our surroundings are not stable too. We suffer physically from pain, sickness, injury, tiredness, ageing, and death during our life time. Also we have psychological suffering such as sadness, fear, frustration, disappointment, and depression. Our life is subject to impermanence. Not only life, everything originated in this universe is impermanent. This means we are never able to keep permanently anything even our lives. We are aging. We get ill. We are becoming disfigured due to aging. We will die some day. But, we can not stop them.

There are three components we should know regarding  life and enjoyment of life.

Strong desire
Bad results due to strong desire
Relieving from the desire
For example :

When you see an attractive, beautiful person, you will like him or her. You like to look at him or her again and again. Then, you feel happiness. This is desire.

But, that particular person and his or her beauty are not stable. Not only that, also your happiness is not stable.

When you can't see the particular person, you will feel sadness, you suffer, become impatient. Sometimes you will do silly things. These are bad results due to strong desire.

If there is no desire or emotional bond, you will not feel sadness. You will not suffer. Then, you will be independent. This is the relief from desire.

There are three kinds of suffering according to the Lord Buddha.

Dukkha dukkha ( ordinary sorrow, suffering )

Dukkha dukkha ( ordinary sorrow, suffering )
Viparinama dukkha ( grief caused by change )
Sankhara dukkha ( sorrow, suffering due to six internal sense media of the body )

Dukkha dukkha ( ordinary sorrow, suffering )

This explains suffering due to birth, aging, getting sick, death, association with the unbeloved, separation from the loved, not getting what is wanted, all physical and mental suffering.

We suffer from everything mentioned above due to birth. If there is no birth, there will not be suffering. We don't like aging, getting sick, and death. But, we can not change them. So, we are suffering from them. Not only that, we feel sad, sorrow due to these factors.

Viparinama dukkha ( grief caused by change )

Everything is impermanent. From moment to moment they are changing continuously. We can not stop changing them. Once we are happy, we feel comfort. Next, we feel sad, fear, discomfort. Then, we don't like to feel them. But, we can not stop those feelings. So, we suffer. Even our feelings are changing. They are impermanent.

Sankhara dukkha ( sorrow, suffering due to six internal sense media of the body )

This is the most important component in the first noble truth. First of all, we should consider the concepts of "the animal being", "person", "I".

According to the Buddhism, "the animal being", "person", "I" consist of changeable physical and mental energies. These can be divided into five parts ( the five clinging aggregates ). We consist of these five clinging aggregates.

Bodily form ( Pali - rupa )
Faculty of perception (Pali - vedana )
Sense - Identification of physical or mental stimuli (Pali -sangna )
Mental formations (Pali - sankhara )
Knowledge ( Pali - vinknana )
These five consist of sorrow, suffering, incompleteness, instability. So, we are suffering due to these five components. Now, we should consider these five sections separately one by one.

You are authorized to perform your duty but you are not entitled for result of your doings. Neither you consider yourself the cause of your doings nor have faith in not doing your duty.

Yagya ke ruup mein karm karana chahiye, anyatha karm ke dwaara is bhautik jagat mein bandhan utpanna hota hai. Atah hey kuntiputra phalakanksha se mukta hokar niyat karm karo. Is tarah tum bandhan se sada mukta rahoge.

One should perform karm in the form of yagya, otherwise karm becomes cause of bondage in this materialistic world. Krishna directs Arjuna for doing his duty without expectation of result and tells him that in this manner he will always remain free from bonds
