  • OM SAIRAM JAI SAIRAM!

There is a proverb" It is more blessed to give than to receive."-That means if we give or donate, we will be more blessed. If we donate for the welfare of poor or ailing people, there is no need for us to advertise about it. I have seen a lot of people who gave ten or fifteen rupees to some poor boys and highlight it as a big incident in their life. They will tell ten other people about ' the donation'. Some pther people seek medias to get their name highlited while contributing to the poor. These are all bogus services and the people who are engaging in the said type of donations are biased also.

If you have a desire to help others, do it. There is no need for them to communicate it with others. Why should others know about it?

Anotherthing, if you have a desire to help others, do it with your finance. Why should you eye on others fund to help the poor and needy?

As I mentioned in my earlier message, " Charity starts at Home". You do not have to search for the needy to help. They will be availabe in your own home or around it. Only thing needed is the "will to do it."

Charity starts from home. I am not aware of such sites but I guess the best thing you can do which requires a bit of physical labor that you can try to find out some orphanage or old age home type of organization in r city and try to spend with them with some goodies

There are organizations like "CRY" and Spastics Society of India who utilizes the fund received by them properly.

Those who are interested to donate may contact them.

  • Very good observation & thoughts by gunj ji.
While giving to the deserving, it is good if we can see that the person also progresses spiritually.

  • Sorry I do not know much, maybe I'am wrong, but the enligtened persons have diffrentiated between DAAN(Donation) and DAYA (compassion). The scriptures say that the giving to the poor and needy is absolutely necessary and should be done, but it is given as compassion, while the donations to spiritual organizations and temples is true DAAN in literal sense as it is used for  GYAAN DAAN (spiritual upliftment of people). Also we as a giver should not be judgemental in giving (if we want to give) because the use and misuse becomes the KARMA of the taker, the giver shud not create a KARMA by judging. Yes there maybe problems with SHIRDI SAI SANSTHAN, mainly because the WORST OF THE CREED OF ANIMALS THE USELESS, DEMONIAC, DEVILS, THE POLITICIANS (VIA THE CORRUPT GOVTS) STILL CONTROL THE CHARITIES. But we as givers are returning to to SAI, a part of what he has given out of his unlimited love, and he knows it. And the looters will be punished for their evil sins let SAI decide that.
As for the organizations doing yeoman services, there is very good work being done for poor polio patients and spastics by NARAYAN SEVA SANSTHAN; JODHPUR (www.narayanseva.org). They do operations for polio and deformity affected patients, give them free calipers, tricycles etc, for poor FREE OF COST, INCLUDING ALL MEDICINES, STAY IN THEIR HOSPITALS FOR THE FAMILY ABSOLUTELY FREE. Many times their volunteers or Sansthan also pays the train and bus fares of the patients and family

  • It is incorrect to look down upon Shri Sai baba Sansthan. It is a pillar of religion and it will stay that way. I can remember, even when i was a child, when we used to go to Shirdi, i enjoyed the food there & it was at a nominal cost of Rs 2/- then (Re 1/- for children).
It is only on the basis of DHARMA done like this, that a person gets ARTHA & KAMA in the future, is what Lord Krishna says.

  • jai sai ram, urvashi has a desire to help, she would also would like to know where she can donate money as she is from uk, would appreciate if credit card is accepted om sai raam
    OM SAIRAM JAI SAIRAM!

It is nice to see that atleast one person has come out with the desire to help. Money is not the matter, it is the will, it is the intention, it is the inspiration which needs and which leads us. In India there are a lot of trusts and organizations which keeps on collecting money in the name of helping poor and the said money is being used for their own welfare.

One has to formulate the area and ways to help others. Proper accounting procedures should be followed. Simply collecting money in personal bank account and spending the same according to one's will is not going to help.

I have got an Old Age Home in Kolkata (Gobindapur) which is running with the help of my friend. We have got around twenty inmates there. We are running it with the help of some locals there and monetory help is being done by us only. Stll there is a proper accounting system in place and any one has the access to check it.

I welcome your desire to help the poor.

One thing I want to stress here is that if one want to help, please do not look at the fund available with organizations like Sai Sansthan or other trusts. One can do it himself.

    Sairam Urvashi ji,

I appreciate your wish to help the poor and needy. Rather I would consdier it as SaiNath's wish . He inspired you to do it. There are millions of Indians staying abroad and very few had the wish to help others. You are defenitely an exception. May SAINATH bless you always.
Now, it is the hard earned money which you are going to spend in the name of charity or helping the poor, whatever may be. My advise is to spend the same through a proper media. There are numerous institutions with out 'head and tail' and claim that " helping the poor" and collect money. Please do not fall into their trap.

If you are interested, please collect the details of "CRY"( which would be available in net or if you  want I would send you the same) and donate through them. If you have some other institutions in your mind please you can proceed also, but please ask for the registration number and accounting details.

May SAINATH help you and bless you

  • A reply to :- could someone recommend a good site for donation? or good charity?

http://www.akshayatrust.org/   may be one of the best place i feel where one can donate.  The trust is made to support the work of N Krishnan.

N Krishnan feeds 400 mentally ill people on the streets of Madurai three times a day, every day, all 365 days of the year. The 28 year old has been doing this for seven years via a charity called the Akshaya Trust.

'I don't feed beggars. They can look after themselves. The mentally ill won't ask anyone for food or money,' says N Krishnan who has been feeding them thrice a day for the past seven years.

The food costs Rs 8,000 a day, but that doesn't worry him. "I have donors for 22 days. The remaining days, I manage myself. I am sure I will get donors for that too, people who can afford it are generally generous, particularly when they know that their hard earned money is actually going to the poor. That is why I maintain my accounts correctly and scrupulously."He then pulled out a bill from the cabinet and showed it. It was a bill for groceries he had bought seven years ago. "This bill has sentimental value. It is the first one after I started Akshaya."

I hope it may be a suitable place for anyone to donate and help the needy.

    Jai Sai Ram
