    Dear Sai Bandhus,

Initially, I thought I will not post this painful incident. Later, I felt like releasing myself thru this forum and make myself lighter but went on postponing. I could not wish anyone on the newyear’s day or sankranti day; even if I did, it was just from lips and not from heart. The trauma of tragedy haunted me that way. It has taken almost more than a month for me to get out of it.

We (me, my hub and my daughter Sai – 11th std.) planned a trip to B’lore and Hampi during the X’mas holidays (2006). Since we planned it very late (on 25th), we had no other means than booking a car from Chennai - B’lore – Hampi – B’lore and back to Chennai starting from Chennai on 27th at 4.00 pm. Meanwhile, we went to Tirutani on 26th Dec which was a memorable trip – with Baba’s blessings and several miracles and I have posted all the details of our trip to Tiruthani under “Your experiences with Sai Baba”. We, on 26th went to sleep at about 11 pm after our dinner discussing about Baba's miracles in our trip.

We got up late on 27th morning and my hub left for an important business meeting at 1.30 pm (after lunch) telling me to finish the packing etc., and be ready that he would be back before 4.00pm. As per our practice, I arranged a security watchman from our regular security services and told him to be at home before 4 pm.

At about 2.30pm, when I started to pack the things, some labourers and servant maids 5-6 came opening the main gate and told me that they wanted to have a glance from our compound wall (back side) since there was a boy lying down on the other side of the compound wall which is a big open ground. Before I could say anything, they proceeded to our back yard. Among them was one boy of abt 18 yrs. who confirmed to me that there indeed lied a boy’s body.

None of us could see this b’coz the compound wall is so high that even that 18yr old boy had to invert a water drum lying in our back yard, climbed on that to see. I was shocked to hear this.Immediately I contacted my hub on his mobile, and as per his guidance, contacted the police control room and as per their instructions, I took the tel.ph. no. of our local police station and informed them of this.

From that moment onwards, till 7.00 pm the entire area was tense and busy with only this. Especially me becoz I gave the first information to the police. Luckily, my hub called off his meeting and rushed back. By then, the police arrived. Lot of questions, several teams of police including their top officials rushed to the spot. I did not know how I dealt with that situation. Added to this, press people, TV channels etc.  I got really tensed up though, my hub comforted me that I was doing the duty of a citizen and that I need not get tensed up. Ofcourse, we spoke ti travels person and cancelled the car. However, we retained our security watchman who came sharp by 4.00pm.

The next building which is a flats’ complex was full of people (infact a huge crowd of them) since it was visible for them from there only. Even the police would go there to see the body and come to me for questioning as to who first told me, timing etc. It was the body of a 11 year old boy who was reported missing since the previous day night.

I was all the time in tears learning that such a small boy was killed and body thrown in an open ground in our locality. In that tension I was running from main gate to back yard along with the police. Meanwhile, the news reached the boy’s father and his cries are still ringing in my ears. Even now, I am in tears. My heart is very heavy. I was all the time taking Baba’s name.

The police asked me to give them a Bedsheet when they could not fetch one from the flats people since all the police were standing in the flats complex (Our compound wall is very high and has a barbed wiring on top). Even in that moment of tragedy, how mean the people were. Just a bedsheet – even a used one could not be spared.

The moment I learnt that a bedsheet was wanted, I rushed upstairs (my bed room) and brought one double bed sheet. The body was lifted from the flats side. I did not have guts to see the body and rushed inside the hall and stood in front of Baba’s photo and started scolding him. I donot know how I was related to him in my previous birth but, now I am grief stricken like anything.

Knowing that we were to go on a tour and cancelled the same, a police higher official told us to go ahead but to wait till some other official, arrived at 6.00 pm. I was in no mood to cook dinner. No one could even guess who could have done this and how etc. Severe head ache, serving water etc. to the police. Some of the police were ladies. They were all busy with their investigation points. By 7.30pm, we bathed and I finished my pooja and aarti mechanically.

Again another higher official from the police dept. came to talk to me and they all thanked me for the timely report etc. and told us we need not cancel our trip. My face looked so tensed up that my hub decided to move me out from Chennai first. We just dumped some clothes - about 4 pairs each and went to the state bus stand. There we got reservation in a Volvo bus to B’lore meant for 11.30pm. We sat in a corner bench in the bus stand and my hub got some light dinner. We all had. Then, I got energies and burst out. Sai told me to calm down but hub told me to release out. Even in the bus, till we reached B’lore, I continued to weep. I saw the police carrying bed sheet in which the body was wrapped. That scene was not moving out from my eyes and mind.

We reached B’lore on 28th (cousin’s place) and that day went for B’lore sight seeing and the only place I felt better was Isckon temple. That night we left for Hampi and reached Hampi on 29th Friday morning. By then, I felt settled and able to concentrate on surroundings. No news paper; and no news; no time first of all. Too many places to visit in two days. Our return journey was on the next day –Saturday night to reach B’lore by Sunday mng. All the time I was praying Baba a lot that entire problem should be over by the time we reach Chennai.

That day was Friday 29th Dec - my Sai’s birthday. At about 3.00pm, the exact time when Sai was born, we were in an auto proceeding from one place to some other place, SUDDENLY, WE HEARD BABA BHAJANS. FROM OUR OPPOSITE SIDE, ONE HUGE CROWD – ALL IN SAFFRON CLOTHES - IN LENGTHY ROWS HAVING A BIG BABA’S PHOTO IN FRONT ON A CART WERE COMING WALKING. WE STOPPED THE AUTO, CROSSED THE ROAD AND THE CART STOPPED. THEY GAVE AARTI TO BABA, AND BLESSED US WITH UDI, PRASAD, FLOWERS AND A BABA’S PHOTO. THAT WAS THE EXACT TIME WHEN SAI WAS BORN. WE WERE SO HAPPY THAT SAI WAS BLESSED ON HER BIRTHDAY AND THAT TOO AT THE EXACT TIME. ON ENQUIRY THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE ON A PAADA YATRA FROM AADONI (A.P.) TO HOSUR(12KM FROM HAMPI) ON A MISSION AND THAT WAS THE LAST DAY IN THEIR PAADA YATRA. I PRAYED ONCE AGAIN THAT ALL THE PROBLEMS AND TENSIONS SHOULD END BY THE TIME WE REACH HOME.

We reached B’lore on Sunday early hours – my cousin’s place and learnt from news papers that the murderers – all the three were teanagers - arrested and the murder was planned for want of cell phones and a byke demanding a ransom of Rs.5 lakh from his parents.

The same night we got our reservation again in a Volvo bus and reached home at 5.00am on 1st of January 2007 and learnt from the localites that the murderers were arrested on Friday when we got the darshan of MY DEAREST BABA – MY DADDY/MUMMY/SISTER/BROTHER/HUSBAND – MY LOVE AND MY EVERYTHING.

But, I could not come out of this trauma and the thoughts, especially thinking about the mother of that boy – who is the only child for her. However, no one on this earth can console that mother.

Baba! May that boy’s soul rest in peace.

Dear Sharu ji and Teju ji, Sai Ram!

Thank you for your supporting words.

Indeed you are right. It was a bad time. It was all handled by Baba only. I am sure it was not me. It was not one or two persons for us to answer that day. On one side police, other side press, TV Channels, so many people. The whole area was a mess. Infact, many telephones in our area were tapped till the murderers were caught including ours. Few of my friends called me up after seeing the 'bedsheet' (which I gave to police to take the body), on the TV channels ( in all channels such as NDTV, Cnn and Aaj Tak , regional channels everywhere this was telecast) to ascertain whether it happened in my area.

Whatever has happened, we can not bring back that boy to that mother. Only Baba can console to some extent by giving back her the same child / another child.

But what makes me feel surprised and happy even in this tragedy is, the culprits were caught by the police exactly on the day when  we got the Darshan of our Dear Baba during our trip in Hampi.

BABA ! THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR BEING WITH US EVERY MOMENT AND MAKING US FEEL YOUR PRESENCE ALWAYS. BE WITH US BABA! MAKE US GOOD THAT WE DESERVE ALL YOUR BLESSINGS.
