He was speechless for some time. He pinched himself and thought again, but could not reconcile the fact of his late Guru Gholap being in the Masjid. Ultimately, leaving all doubt, he went up, fell at his Guru's feet and then getting up stood there with folded hands. Other people sang Baba's Arati, while Moolay Shastri chanted his Guru's name. Then casting off all pride of caste and ideas about sacredness, he fell flat at his Guru's feet and closed his eyes. When he got up and opened his eyes, he saw Baba asking for Dakshina. Seeing Baba's blissful form, and His inconceivable power, Moolay Shastri forgot himself. He was extremely pleased, his eyes were full of tears of joy. He again saluted Baba and gave the Dakshina. He said that his doubt was removed and that he saw his own Guru. On seeing his wonderful Leela of Baba all the people, including Moolay Shastri, were much moved, and they realized the meaning of Baba's words, "Bring Geru, we shall don saffron-coloured garment." Such is the wonderful Leela of Baba.

• The Cow, which is always with Him, represents the Mother Earth and Dharma. She is the wish fulfilling cow 'Kamadhenu'.
• The four dogs symbolise the four Vedas – the external repositories of Spiritual Wisdom.
• The trident indicates that He has transcended the three gunas, which constitute the illusory world:
   Sattva-illumination, Rajas-activity and Tamas-inertia.
• The 'Sudharshana chakra' , disc indicates that He is beyond the cycles of time i.e. the past, present and future and
   His holding of 'chakra' means He is the controller of time.
• The conch represents the eternal sound ‘AUM’ – which is the   manifestation of the Spirit.
   It is also the life principle in us and the cosmos.
• The 'bhasma' ashes indicated His 'Vairaagya' dispassion as well as His purity.
  Ashes indicate the evanescent nature of all created   nature of all created objects and the ultimate state of all matter.
• He always carries a begging bowl so as to teach us the lesson that we will have to share our wealth and food with others.
• The japa-mala, rosary He wears reminds us that our primary duty is chanting the sacred name of the Lord and meditating on the   feet of the Lord, and our redemption depends on this discipline alone.  
Shri Dattatreya, in order to bless His devotees and the righteous ones, wanders about in the guise of a random guest at the lunch hour. That's why it is said that a random guest has to be treated as the very embodiment of Lord Dattaterya

बाबा की पदृति अद्घितीय और अपूर्व थी । बाबा शिरडी के बाहर कभी नहीं गये, परन्तु फिर भी उन्होंने किसी को मच्छिन्द्रगढ़, किसी को कोल्हापुर या सोलापुर साधनाओं के लिये भेजा । किसी को दिन में ौर किसी को रात्रि में दर्शन दिये । किसी को काम करते हुए, तो किसी को निद्रावस्था में दर्शन दिये ओर उनकी इच्छाएँ पूर्ण की । भक्तों को शिक्षा देने के लिये उन्होंने कौन कौन-सी युक्तियाँ काम में लाई, इसका वर्णन करना असम्भव है । इस विशिष्ट घटना में उन्होंने श्री. दासगणू को विलेपार्ला भेज कर वहाँ उनकी नौकरानी द्घारा समस्या हल कराई ।

OMSAIRAM!Today went to Lodhi Sai Mandir with Sulbha and we both saw BABA smiling.

BABA ki leela BABA hi jaane.

Yesterday also i went to Lodhi Sai Mandir with Sulbha and prayed to BABA to call me soon and today again He called Sulbha and me.It was a big Surprise for both of us.

Do not bark at people and don’t be aggressive, but put up with others’ complaints.


The four sadhanas and the six Sastras are not necessary. Just have complete trust in your guru, it is enough


If anyone gets angry with another, they wound me to the quick.

If you cannot endure abuse from another, just say a simple word or two, or else leave.


If anyone offends you do not return tit for tat.


Distinguish right from wrong and be honest, upright and virtuous


Other people’s acts will affect just them. It is only your own deeds that will affect you.

Do not be idle: work, utter God’s name and read the scriptures.

If you avoid rivalry and dispute, God will protect you.


People abuse their own friends and family, but it is only after performing many meritorious acts that one gets a human birth. Why then come to Shirdi and slander people?
