  • A Sai devotee
I had injured myself around 10 days back when I slipped and fell. The fall resulted in a constant pain in the lower part of my spine. I had to be careful when I sat down, stretched or bent. I ignored it because I didn't want to go to a doctor as it would mean getting into the health insurance maze. Somehow the pain kept getting worse and my movements were getting more restricted by the day. On the day before yesterday, I sent up a fervent, silent prayer to Sai asking him to cure the pain completely. As I prayed, the usual doubts haunted me -- "What if the pain doesn't go away? Will Sai actually cure it?" etc etc. I pushed down those doubts, thinking to myself firmly that Sai will cure it if I ask Him. Within a few minutes, I could feel the pain receding a bit. Of course, my doubts did not go away even then. I thought, "Maybe the pain won't go away completely". But again, I pushed the thought out and went about my day. At the end of the day, I was surprised to find very little pain and when I thought back, I realized that I had been able to move really freely through the day. The next day i.e. yesterday, the pain had all but gone and I was almost back to normal. Today morning when I woke up, I realized there was absolutely no pain (I used to have some pain when I slept in a certain way). I was overjoyed. I still cannot believe how incredibly lucky I am to have Sainath listening to me. I can hardly be called a devotee -- I have very little willpower and more often than not, my attempts at expressing my devotion succumb to my bad habits. But, He is so very merciful.

    Devi
All Sai devotees, I want to share my wonderful Sai Baba's experience with you. We went to Shirdi 18 years ago, where we met a nice family. Later on, we became good family friends. On one Sunday afternoon, our Shirdi friends told us that his colleague is looking for match for his son who is in America. Later on by Baba's grace, I got married to the groom in America. It was a dream come true for me and to my family. We never thought this is possible. Without his abhaya hasta, I cannot even imagine my life. On our wedding day Sai himself came and ate at my wedding lunch and went off as quickly as he came. People still talk about the experiences of meeting Sai at my wedding. Sai Baba, Sata Koti pranam for giving us everything and guiding us in your way. Sometimes I blame you for not responding quickly, but I understand you do things in your way. Forgive me for all mistakes that I did with ignorance. Thanks again for all your blessings and generous grace.

I had submitted my article in Sai Vichaar and that time I had thought in my mind that if my article publishes it would be a sign that I will meet my eternal love with whom I have been departed. To my surprise on 9 Feb, Wednesday evening I met him. We had a talk for hours. and to my more surprise morning on Thursday when I opened my pc, this Sai site I saw my article in the Sai Vichaar. You do not know Sai what happiness you have given me. I am humbly honored. Now I only desire and hope that this is your love to us. I do not know how to thank you. Sai maa please keep on blessing like this.

  • I am not alone-Baba is with Me

I am pleased to share my following glorious experience with innumerable Sai devotees.

It was during November, 1997. My wife and myself went to our daughter's home in the United States. I am a diabetic patient and I also had an attack of severe bronchitis before we left India. The doctors here had prescribed medication to be taken during our stay in the US.

We reached US on schedule and continued to stay with our daughter comfortably. As per our routine, we used to worship our beloved deity Sri Sainath by chanting the usual prayers everyday. We had planned our sojourn for three months. On the thirtieth day after our arrival in US, I suddenly had severe cramps in the chest. I could not bear the pain or breath. I lied down wherever I was. We were alone in the house with the infant kids of our daughter, as our daughter and son-in-law had left for their work. I was alone in the drawing room when I had these cramps. I somehow beckoned my wife who was in the kitchen. She was shocked when she saw my plight and immediately phoned my daughter at the office. It was snowing at the time and there was eighteen inches of snow on the road and approach to our home. Temperature outside was below zero. On hearing about my condition at home one of her senior colleague helped her drive through the snow and they rushed to the house within fifteen minutes.

When my daughter saw my distressed state, she did not waste time pondering. She called the emergency service and explained to them of our predicament. Within ten minutes, the emergency squad arrived at our place fully equipped. There were two doctors too in the squad. They checked my condition, took ECG on the spot and decided that it was a stroke and that I have to be immediately admitted to a hospital having facility to perform a heart surgery. There were two hospitals nearby who could perform the surgery. As it was heavily snowing, most of the roads were blocked. I was physically immobile but I was in senses. I pleaded that "I need not be taken to any hospital and I will be all right soon and that I can get necessary medical aid in India." The emergency squad insisted that I should be taken to the hospital and specialist doctors will decide the future course. They asked for our preference of hospital, and my son-in-law suggested a name known to him, where there was a specialist Indian doctor attached to them. They then put me on the stretcher and we waded through snow on the way to the hospital.

Within 30 minutes we reached the place. On arrival, the staff took me to the emergency cell. I distinctly remember that, lying on the stretcher on way to emergency room, I was continuously chanting and remembering Lord Sainath's name. Silently chanting his name I may have lapsed into an unconscious state. Within an hour I understand that they conducted various tests including catheterization. The tests suggested that there were four blocks in the arteries. A conference was held among various doctors and surgeons and it was decided that an open heart bypass surgery has to be conducted without delay.

Hospital authorities summoned the anesthetist and within two hours of arriving at the hospital the surgery was commenced. I was not aware of anything that was being performed on my physical body. I was gleefully wandering somewhere in the most pleasant gardens and lawns in a serene atmosphere. I was aware that 'I' was not alone and Lord Sainath was with me'.

It nearly took five hours for the surgeon and his assistants, to complete the task of cutting the veins from my calves and thighs and plant them firmly in place in the arteries. The operation was successful. Probably it took another six hours for me to regain my consciousness. My wife, it seems was continuously praying Baba for the success of the surgery and for my speedy recovery. Her prayers were answered. She was there to give me an assuring smile although in tears of joy.

I came to senses all right! But I was trying to find me! I was neither there nor here! It took me some time. May be a minute or two, I am not sure! Suddenly I realized that I was with Baba, and I was walking down from the inside of his heart back to my bed. I was in a state of confusion! I did not for a moment understand why I had to leave Baba and that beautiful garden and walk down to this miserable place. I started looking for him. I could not find! Then after some time, I concluded that he had walked along with me and may have entered my heart! Yes, He is still there! Always there! I am not sure when I will have another opportunity roaming those gardens with Him! Why should I worry? Let Him decide.

One thing that has entered my heart now after the surgery is not the new veins 'but that' I am not alone and Baba is always with me! He loves, provides and protects.

"I am not alone, Baba is with me" is not an exclusive privilege of mine. It is a fact decreed for every devotee. We have to be aware of His presence. He is with us hearing and looking at everything we say and do. He is witnessing our every speech and actions. The moment the awareness of his continuous presence is felt, we get transformed. The thoughts which are the cause of our speech and actions will naturally get oriented to speak and do things which have His approval. Our ego the 'I' will get a knock and a slap. Our speech will get changed to be very courteous and polite. We start appreciating others. We will start saying "Oh! You have done a great job". This is because we also feel the Lord's presence in the person, whom we are addressing. We shall start saying, "I admit I was wrong". I know how difficult it is to admit our inadequacies. But with the awareness of his presence in us it is easy. The 'I' becomes a non-entity. When the 'I' gives room for 'We' the life turns out to be a happy passing phase.

One more thing we normally say "I did this, I said this, I did that, I said that" etc. We should make it a habit to say "Let us do this, let us do that" etc. Let us include Him also in whatever we say or do. I am a non-entity without Him. It is He who does everything and we are only His instruments.

The eight words "I am not alone, Baba is with me" is a mantra that we have to repeat daily and at all times and feel His presence with us!

  • When I remember the day of 22nd January 1987, I afflict with fear. If Baba did not favour, I would have to live in the darkened world.

As usual I was busy with the typing-work. My eyes were turning from the script to the paper on the typewriter..... and within few minutes my right eye started paining. I thought insertion of some minor foreign body in the eye and neglected. But, as the time passed on, the pain increased. Due to this pain, I lost my concentration and attention. Two more days passed. The pain increased day by day. I felt the seriousness and thought to consult the doctor. Thus, I visited the doctor on 25th January. Doctor gave me tablets and medicament, which proved useless. Not the less from that day, I was more harassed by constant headache and frequent vomiting. I rushed to the doctor. “The pains may continue for eight days and then you will feel better,” the doctor assured me. I felt that everything would be all right as the doctor told, and returned home. From 26th January onward my ill-fate started. On that day I lost the sight of my right eye. On very next day, the sight of the left eye also became less. Subsequently I ran to the doctor. He then felt something serious. He advised me to go to Pune and consult the doctor in Ruby Hall Clinic or Sasoon. On 28th, I went to Sasoon. The doctors there asked me the history. I explained in detail. Various tests were done and injections and tablets were tried. The eye specialist examined me thoroughly. My friend Dr. Avinash Nagpure (He was studying M.B.B.S. last year) advised me to bear the trouble. At that time he was the only support for me. “It is improbable to regain the sight in such cases,” the doctor whispered. I heard his words and lost my all the inner strength. I was terribly frightened, seeing blind future with my blind eyes. At the same time I heard the doctor saying, “By the mercy of God the sight may be regained”. It gave me light of hope. I have faith in Baba, Baba’s teaching of ‘Shraddha’ and ‘Saburi’. I regained the strength with this thought.

Specially to note, when I started for Pune on 28th morning, went to Baba’s Samadhi temple and prayed Baba, “I am going to Pune with my half eye instead of two..... Please bring me here with both the eyes or finish my life there only”. Praying like this I started applying Udi to the eyes everyday. At that time my father, mother, brothers, sisters, Dr. Nagpure, Mr. Ratilalji Lodha, Mr. Sadashiv Gorade and Mr. Kailas Gaikwad gave me the courage. I am grateful to them.

From the first Thursday of February I could see little with my left eye. My mind and eyes flourished like a flower. There was progress in the sight and my happiness had no bounds. Next Thursday I could see clearly with my both eyes. I could see my beloveds and every happening around me ! I could see every thing. My sight reburied !

I was discharged after 15 days and was told to have check-up every fortnight. I returned Shirdi with satisfaction. Baba listened my prayer. My eyes were full of tears and the joy. I washed Baba’s ‘Charan’ with my tears. After 15 days eyes were clear. I successfully came out of bad dream.

Mean while there was a Charitable Eye Camp at Shri Sainath Hospital, Shirdi. Foreign eye specialist had come to attend the patients. I got my eyes checked by them. I told them detail history. Showed them all papers. They listened me and saw the record. They told me, “We will give you more effective medicine. Try it every day and you will never suffer”. I was very happy and enquired about medicine. They told me “APPLY BABA’S UDI TO YOUR EYES EVERY DAY..... YOU GOT CURED BY THE BLESSINGS OF SADGURU SHRI SAI BABA”.

This is a recent leela by Samartha Sadguru Sainatha Maharaj. I along with few friends have been planning to start a franchise and with Baba's grace, the things have been moving smoothly. The date was fixed for the signing of agreement was fixed, in fact I have asked the other party whether we can do this on Thursday, by Baba's grace they have agreed for that. Just few days before this signing day, my friend who has just returned from visit to India had emailed me saying that he had shipped the Baba's prasad to my address. I was so happy by reading that and prayed in my mind that I should get this prasad on the day we are going to sign the franchise agreement. Devotees, now you can guess what would have happened on that day, I came back home after signing the papers and opened my mail box quite nervously whether Baba had blessed me or not. I was so thrilled and overjoyed by seeing the packet with Baba's prasad from friend. There are lot of leelas by Baba ever since I started worshipping in the 90's. I am always thankful to him for his love and blessings all through these years and pray him to continue shower his love and blessings.

Sairam, I do not have words to explain your miracles. Just one instance, which I prayed to post in Sai Vichaar. I was disturbed about my current compensation from my current employer and decided to quit and move to another organization. My current employer called me and agreed to give me 20 percent hike which I thought is not what I deserved and prayed to Baba on Wednesday night that it would be better if I get 30 percent hike and that if I get it I would post my experience in Sai Vichaar. As prayed, the merciful Baba really helped me out in such a way that when I came to office next day which was a Thursday, I was moved with tears from my eyes when I saw the mail from my leader saying that he is ready to offer me 30 percent hike. How merciful is our lord how are we to thank him than remembering his name always. Thank you Sairam

I was suffering from back-ache since last two months, went to Medical center and got checked up, and an x-ray taken out for further investigation, but could hardly find any problem, and was given only pain killing tablets. I took those tablets but did not find any improvement, rather it was increasing. Then on 25th Jan 2006, there was Annadanam going on in Shri Saibaba Temple, where I was called for assistance. Due to back pain, I decided to offer only moral support and not to take items for distribution. But, surprisingly Baba started sending one after one asking me to take Dal, Rice, or Roti etc for distribution. Thrice I expressed my inability, and was supervising the things. But He did not leave me, and again sent somebody and asked me to take Dal for distribution. This time I could not say no and took a bucket of Dal and looked at Him (through open window) and thought in my mind 'Baba! you are repeatedly testing me, I feel this must be to grace me and relieve me of back pain', and started distributing the Dal with bending and standing for number of times. Surprisingly, from the day onwards within three days my back pain was gone to a great extent and some residual pain is there, which also shall be removed by His blessings.

Our son, who is working in the US, had come to India last week on a brief visit. On his return, he was told at the Delhi airport that his flight was delayed. As a result, he missed his connecting flight from Munich, and was put to much inconvenience. The onward journey was a circuitous one, and led to a great deal of fatigue and inconvenience. As if that was not enough, on reaching his destination, New York, he found that his suitcase containing all his new, expensive clothes and other important belongings, had been lost! We were all very unhappy to hear about it as it meant a lot of trouble and inconvenience to him. This happened late at night, and he had to attend office from early next morning, which left him no time at all to even buy new clothes, shoes, toiletries etc. My only resort at this juncture was Shirdi Sai Baba. I prayed very sincerely and requested Baba to find out and send back the lost suitcase as early as possible, with all his belongings intact. Three days had passed, and there was no news of the suitcase. I told Baba that since Thursday was His day, a miracle must take place. Lo and behold, on Wednesday night we received the news that our son's lost suitcase had at last been delivered to him at home! I have absolutely no words to thank Baba. This was nothing short of a miracle, made possible only by Sai Baba's divine grace and blessings. Today being Thursday, I went to the local Sai Baba Temple to offer my thanks to Him. On my return from the temple, I was told by a friend who had just returned from Shirdi that she would be sending some "prasad" for us! Yet another instance to prove Baba's constant presence in our home. May Sai Baba's blessings be with us always! Jai Sai Ram!

    Sairam:

I would like to share how Sai saved and protected us today from a catastrophe. After we have moved into our new house,  we have fixed a large photo of Shirdi Sai from the Samadhi Mandir  facing the main entrance door, so that Baba sits there Blessing and protecting the house and everyone who visits us.

Today morning my family decided to go to Balaji temple in Aurora and do prayers. While leaving at 10.30am , I prayed at the entrance looking at Baba as usual, to protect the house and family. We went out by van by exiting through the garage door. While in the temple, I was praying to Balaji to show His presence in that big idol, which was nicely decorated. I prayed to Balaji to help me remember Sai always in my thoughts and action. I was eagerly waiting for an assurance from Him, in the form of at least one petal falling from the Balaji Moola Vigraha. Nothing noticeable happened, while I stood there for long. The time to leave the sanctum sanctorum came, I half heartedly took leave, just then not from Moola vigraha, but the small idol of Rama which was kept below the feet of Balaji, from that a petal fell down. I was thrilled and got happy with the assurance Balaji gave. I prostrated a few times conveying my gratitude to Sai.

With the resolution of remembering Sai's name, we drove back home around 4pm. It was very windy, cold and snow flurries have been falling continuously from the time we left the house. When we reached home, as usual we parked the van in the garage. We entered the house through the garage door. From the road we drove and entered, we cannot see our main entrance door. Everything looked normal as I came into the house, but my wife who had gone inside before me, shouted loud and called me to come and see the main entrance. Without removing the shoes, I ran inside thinking something had gone wrong. We both noticed that our front door was widely open, with snow fallen inside the house, it looked as if someone had entered through that door left it open. It was freezing inside the house, in that floor. I immediately ran upstairs and checked every room and the valuables. All were intact, nothing was stolen, though the door was kept open, there is no evidence of anyone entered the house. In the second floor, it was very hot, due to the heating going on continuously. We were shocked how the door was opened. It then came to our thinking, that the door was not locked fully when we went out, due to heavy wind it would have got opened.

Even though many people would have passed by seeing the open door, we were thankful that no theft has taken place. There was no fire hazard too, due to the increased heating because of low temperature in the first floor, which had heated up heavily the second floor rooms. We both stood prayerfully staring at the Shirdi Sai's photo decorating the entrance. We are thankful to Baba for protecting us and the house, as He only saved us from great mishap, by constantly watching and taking care of the house. This miracle further assured me of Sai's presence and my resolution of constantly remembering Him.

    Sridhar.

Baba is just great. I was searching for a job for the past 4 months. Many devotees may know because I used to write regular prayers. Now I got a job. I was really tensed and told Baba that I will not eat non-veg on Thursdays. After 2nd Thursday, I got it. I will continue with my prayer. In between, these days I went to see an astrologer and he told I won't get job. But I had faith in Baba and continued to pray. On Monday, I will join. Just chant Baba's name you will be blessed.

I am into recruitment section in consultancy. Last month I had to face difficult situation. I got short listing of candidates for interview from my client side. That time I called one of my previous short listed candidates also. Next day when I confirmed with my client, he directly refused to call old candidates so I called that old candidate again but he told that he had booked his airfare ticket. I was shocked so I requested him to cancel his ticket. But that air flight has no provision for cancellation of tickets. I felt very bad that without confirming his appointment, I called him up for an interview. Not only did I give him a false hope but also wasted his money in air tickets, which he will not get back on cancellation. That time I prayed to Saibaba to save this candidate's money. In lunch hour I was very depressed, before starting my lunch I took Baba's name and again called up client officer, the same person who was earlier quite reluctant, this time said that he would try to manage and arrange that candidate interview. After 1 to 2 hours, he confirmed me with specific date and time. The next day that candidate was called for an interview. In the evening that candidate called me up and told me that among all other candidates he has been selected. I was so surprised and happy. How Baba managed all things and helped me. Yesterday that candidate had an offer letter also. Thanks Baba for everything. Baba, always be with me and bless me and my family members.

I just wanted to share my experience of how Baba was with me through out my sickness, surgery and recovery period. A month back I started having severe headaches. Initially the attacks were once in two days and then they reached three times a day. The headaches were so severe that I wanted to take apart my head. Fortunately for us, Baba called us to the Sai mandir in Baldwin, NY and blessed us with vibhuti. During one of the attacks, my wife put that vibhuti and in five minutes, my attack got over. From that day onwards whenever I used to get the attack, we used to put vibhuti and both me and my wife used to chant Om Sairam and it reduced my attack period from two hours to 30 minutes. When we met the doctor, he diagnosed that I had polyps in my sinuses and hence my infection is not curing. He asked us to go for surgery. In the Operation Theatre, I went under general anesthesia with the thoughts of Sai Ram. Luckily, during surgery doctor found out that it was a fungus ball and he did not had to cut anything. Sai Ram helped me during my recovery phase too. Due to general anesthesia and morphine, I developed severe constipation. Baba pulled me out through it too. Sai devotees please never get depressed, He is always with us and will always come to over rescue.

Dear Sir, thanks a lot again for sending me the Sai Vichaar. Here I want to share my experience. My son is a case of cerebral palsy. He was not able to sit. Only the day after my wife cried and prayed in front of Baba, he sat on his own. I got an opportunity to do my MTech at IIT by praying to Baba. Now my son is walking independently. Of course, he is not able to speak. But we have great faith on Baba that he will talk with us soon. He is now 4 yrs old. Really, Baba takes away our sorrows when we pray with faith and patience. Sai bless us.

Sai baba let your holy lotus feet be our sole refuge.OMSAIRAM

I wish to write my recent experience I had and I was out of it just due to Sai's grace. I work for a major automobile company here in North America and I was given a project to handle by our management, which was beyond my area of expertise. Things turned worse, project failed to be delivered on the deadline for various reasons, and I was held accountable for it. This came right before the time when the company was choosing candidates for lay-offs within the company After suffering for sometime and not knowing which way to go, I finally approached my immediate supervisor. Much to my amazement, my supervisor did not feel I was at fault, but rather found the fault at the original source from where the request for the project came from. He not only personally made it a point to get me the correct expertise and help needed to get the project completed, but also volunteered to talk to the top management in my favor. Not only did the project get underway, I also got away from a mistake, which could have cost me my job. During the time of going through the agony and pain, not once did it occur that I should talk to my supervisor. It was only when I prayed to Shree Sai to get me out of this and my promise to write my experience on Sai Vichaar, that I got the thought(buddhi) to talk to my supervisor.

The 15th September, happened to be my birthday, morning 5.30 am, the telephone rings and when I pick up, a voice tells me "Rohitbhai, your factory has caught fire". The earth under my feet is shaken. The first words that come out of my mouth, "Baba please save me, what wrong have I done? Please don't punish me like this. I shall be ruined. When we reach there, black smoke was coming out from all ventilators and window gaps of my factory on the first floor; which I could see from under the building. I just collapse, still chanting Baba, Baba and started crying profusely, as it was apparent that my garment manufacturing factory, which I had made with lot of hard work and with blessings of Baba in fifteen years, was gutted. I opened one shutter of the main entrance and went up. It was too Smokey and I couldn't stay there for long. The fire brigade van came. They went up my main entrance but could not understand the source of fire. So they broke open the other shutter and there a fierce fire was burning in the middle of the unit on the ground floor. In minutes, the fire brigade took control of the fire. It most obviously looked to be a fire in my factory on first floor from all angles; whereas at the end of it all, not even a spark had reached my premises. It so happened that the fire took in the ground unit and the smoke found its way through the other entrance of my factory. That day my entire career or fifteen years in garment manufacturing industry would have finished, as my entire premises of 4000 sq.ft. Area was fully packed with festive season's finished and unfinished goods worth much more (4 times more) than my insurance. I realized the existence of Baba with me!!! It was Him and only Him, who stood in front of the fire and my factory that morning.

I thank you from the core of heart for spreading Sai's teachings throughout the world by this Newsletter and by Heritage of Shirdi Sai Magazine. Om Shri Sai Ram. I don't know how to write but still I want to share my experiences with everyone. I have been a Sai devotee since 2003. I have myself experienced Sai's grace in a number of ways. My older son does not work and younger son has some skin problem. I always pray to Baba and asks, why this happened and please shower grace on both of them. In the early morning of Thursday I saw Baba standing by side of pool. I touched Baba's feet and He blessed me. Exactly next Thursday my younger son went for an interview and he got the Job. Thank you Baba so much. I don't have words to say thanks. These are the ways of Sai. Have faith in Baba I am sure He will fulfill desires of everyone. Please Baba show my older son the right direction, so that he will finish his degree and get a job and set in his life. Please shower grace on everyone who believes in You
