Q. How far is the practice of seeking answer to a specific question by turning a page of Sai Satcharitha OK?

A by A.R.Shankar, Thane, Mumbai, India

I was suffering from kidney stone. It was painful, it was a Thursday, I was reading Sai Satcharitha. That day when I opened the book I saw the story of the person suffering from kidney stone and was cured after consuming water with UDI. I prayed to Sri Sai to cure. Lo and Behold that afternoon a miracle happened, the stone fell done when I was passing urine. I was relieved of the pain and suffering. I immediately prostrated before the photo of Sri Sai and thanked him. It was really an answer, a miracle.....you may say whatever........but I bow to Sai.

He passed away without seeing his name in the Guinness Book of Records. Pt Razdan holds the credit for having written and composed the greatest number of bhajans on one subject - Sai Baba. He has 13 cassettes with various music companies who have released his work. So popular are they that different religious organizations have pinched his work and it has been passed off as theirs.

Pt Razdan, who passed away recently on the 1st of November, was a Sai bhakt and he had an interesting story to his faith in the Saint of Shirdi. For him writing bhajans was almost a calling. He started life 50 years ago as a fledgling journalist writing about films.

Somewhere in the middle of a lucrative career he decided to make a film. He signed Rajkumar - always a difficult star. After recording eight songs and completing a few shooting schedules, he ran into trouble causing him huge losses in money and more importantly in spirits. This was when he began realizing the futility of life and the temporariness of relationships.

He said in a nostalgic moment, "My wife was an avid Sai Bhakt but I had never thought of these things. I came from a family of doctors and had never even visited Shirdi. One day though as I was driving in my car I suddenly started humming quite naturally - the words 'jis haal main rakhe Sai us haal main rehte jao…' these words and the tune came to me quite spontaneously. I reached home and put down the words and as I knew nothing about music composition, I recorded the bhajan to remember it. This was in 1977.

There used to be a satsang in my mother-in-law's house on Mondays and Thursdays and I used to often sing there. People started enjoying my compositions and requesting me to sing my own bhajans like 'dheeraj rakh, who rehmat ki barkha barsa hi dega..jis Sai ne dard diya hai who dava bhi dega."

Razdan started writing in great earnest and all his bhajans were based on Sai Baba's teachings but he had never visited Shirdi. "I realized I should do so. So, along with two friends we went to Shirdi. Here we had a bath and went to the temple. During the aarti, a man came and told me 'Visit room no. 2 and meet Rambaba.'

Then we went to this room we saw a man who was seven feet tall and 127 years old. He asked me about myself and I told him. He asked to hear my bhajans and then asked what I wanted to do. I said that I'd like these bhajans recorded. He gave me five things - an apple, a bottle of perfume a towel, a banana and an orange. He blessed us and we left. Outside a man told us that this Rambaba had met Sai Baba in 1910, 1914 and 1915 and was a great devotee. He was surprised that Rambaba had given us so much importance. This was in February 1984.

This is when my career in music started off. In 1984 I recorded by first album Sai Yatra. I spent my own money but got great pleasure in doing so. In 1986, I recorded Sai Arpan in the voice of Manhar Udhas…" this kicked off an association which lasted till his death.

Razdan's intention was to record 18 albums like the 18 chapters of the Bhagvad Gita. He said that his albums fared so well because he talked about the teachings of Baba and not just repeating the name of the Saint as others do. Listeners have often claimed that they find solutions to their problems merely by listening to his bhajans. Companies like CBS, Times, Music Polygram and T series have recorded his albums. Maestros like Naushad Ali have appreciated his work. He had 11 bhajans in blank verse ready to record his next album. It remains to be seen how this will be done.

So great was his faith that after the debacle of the film, money started pouring in again and his faith in Sai made him say 'andheron se ab dar nahin lagta, ik Deepak jala diya maine'.

EV Reddy
First of all, I would like to thank Saibaba.org for providing me an opportunity to share my experiences with all the Sai devotes. I used to visit Saibaba's temple with one of my friend when I was kid. At that time, I don't know much about Saibaba's mahima, but some how I felt like visiting Saibaba every day. After I started visiting him my life changed entirely. Saibaba gave me every thing that I asked him whole-heartedly, he gave me even the things that I haven't even dreamed.

I got very less marks in my engineering entrance test and I joined B.Sc. as it was impossible to get an engineering seat with the marks I got. After few months all of sudden I received an interview call letter from engineering seat counseling office. They offered me a last engineering seat in that year in my own city, in a premier engineering college and in an engineering branch that I dream everyday. Until today, I can't imagine how I got into engineering college and how I completed. All this happened with Saibaba's grace otherwise it would have never possible. He blessed me with a nice job few months after I finished my engineering. Few days before I got that job I went to give my resume at the same company, by looking at the crowd I thought I would never get that job and it's waste of time to give my resume there. When Sai is with us nothing is impossible. After few months, he brought me to US. When I landed in US, it was recession time and there were no jobs. But with Sai's blessing, I survived one and half years.

Harishchandra Pitale

There was a gentleman by name Harishchandra Pital in Bombay. He had a son, who suffered from epilepsy. He tried many allopathic and ayurvedic doctors, but there was no cure. There remained only one way of remedy, viz. resorting to the saints. It has been stated in Chapter XV that Das Ganu by his inimitable and splendid kirtans spread the fame of Sai Baba in the Bombay Presidency. Mr. Pitale heard some of these kirtans in 1910 and learnt therefrom and from others that Baba, by His touch and mere glance, cured many incurable diseases. Then a desire arose in his mind to see Sai Baba. Making all preparations and taking presents and fruit-baskets, Mr. Pitale came to Shirdi with family, wife and children. He then went to the Masjid with them, prostrated before Baba and placed his sick son on Baba's Feet. No sooner Baba saw the child than an untoward thing happened. The son immediately revolved his eyes and fell down senseless. His mouth began to foam and his whole body began to perspire profusely and it seemed as if he breathed himself out. Seeing this, the parents became very nervous and excited. The boy used to get such fits very often, but this fit seemed to persist long. Tears began to flow ceaselessly from the mother's eyes and she began to wail, crying that her condition was like that of a person, who being afraid of the robbers ran into a house which collapsed on him,or like a cow fearing a tiger, ran into the hands of a butcher, or like a traveller, who being tormented by the heat of the sun went to take refuge under a tree, which fell upon him, or like a devout person going for worship into a temple which collapsed upon him. Then Baba comforted her saying - "Do not wail like this, wait a bit, have patience, take the boy to your lodging, he will come to his senses within half an hour." They did as directed by Baba and found that His words came true. As soon as he was taken into the Wada, the boy recovered and all the Pitale family, husband, wife and others were very delighted and all their doubts disappeared. Then Mr. Pitale came with his wife to see Baba and prostrated himself before Him very humbly and respectfully and sat shampooing His legs and mentally thanking Baba for His help. Baba then smilingly said - "Are not all your thoughts, doubts and apprehensions calmed down now? Hari (Lord) will protect him, who has got faith and patience". Mr. Pitale was a rich and well-to-do gentleman. He distributed sweet-meat on a large scale and gave Baba excellent fruits and pan (betel-leaves). Mrs. Pitale was a very Sattwik lady, simple, loving and faithful. She used to sit near the post staring at Baba with tears of joy flowing down from her eyes. Seeing her of an amicable and loving nature, Baba was much pleased with her. Like Gods, Saints are always dependent on their devotees who surrender and worship them with their heart and soul. After passing some happy days in Baba's company, the Pitale family came to the Masjid to take Baba's leave to depart. Baba gave them Udi and blessings and called Mr. Pitale close by and said to him - "Bapu, I had given you before, Rs. two, now I give you Rs. three; keep these in your shrine for worship and you will be benefited." Mr. Pitale accepted these as Prasad, prostrated himself again before Baba and prayed for His blessings. A thought arose in his mind, that as that was his first trip to Shirdi, he could not understand what Baba meant, when He said that He had given Rs. two previously. He was curious to have this mystery solves, but Baba kept silent. When Mr. Pitale returned to Bombay, he narrated to his old mother all that had happened at Shirdi and the mystery about Baba's giving him Rs. two formerly. The mother also did not understand the mystery, but, thinking seriously about that, she was reminded of an old incident, which solved the mystery. She said to her son - "As you now went to Sai Baba with your son, so had your father done when he took you to Akkalkot, for the darshana of the Maharaj there many years ago. That Maharaj was also a Siddha, Perfect Yogi, omniscient and liberal. Your father was pure, devout and his worship was accepted. He then gave your father Rs. two for being kept in the shrine and worshipped. Your father worshipped them accordingly till his death, but thereafter the worship was neglected and the rupees were lost. After some years the memory of these two rupees also disappeared and now, as you are very fortunate, the Akkalkotkar Maharaj has appeared to you in the form of Sai Baba just to remind you to your duties and worship, and to ward off all dangers. Now beware henceforth, leave off all doubts and bad thoughts, follow your ancestors and behave well; go on worshipping the family gods and the rupees, appraise properly and take pride in the blessing of the Saints. Sai Samartha has kindly revived the spirit of Bhakti in you, cultivate it it your benefit." Hearing the remarks of the mother, Mr. Pitale was very much delighted. He came to know, and was convinced about the all-prevasiveness of Baba and the significance of His darshan. From that time he became very careful about his behaviour.

Mr.Shevade

Mr. Sapatneker of Akkalkot (Sholapur District) was studying for law. A co-student Mr.Shevade met him. Other fellow students also gathered together and compared notes of their study. It was found by the questions and answers amongst themselves, that Mr.Shevade was the least prepared of all for the examination, and therefore all the students derided him. But he said that though he was not prepared, he was sure to pass the examination, as his Sai Baba was there to get him through it successfully. Mr.Sapatnekar was surprised at this remark. He took Mr.Shevade aside and asked him who this Sai Baba was whom he extolled so high. He replied - "There lives in a Masjid in Shirdi (Ahmednagar District) a fakir. He is a great Sat-purusha. There may be other saints, but this is unique. Unless there is a great store of merits on one's account, one can't see Him. I fully believe in Him, and what He says will be never untrue. He has assured me that I will pass definitely next year and I am confident that I will get through the final examination also with His grace." Mr.Sapatneker laughed at his friend's confidence and jeered at him and Baba.

Sapatnekars

Mr.Sapatnekar passed his examination, settled at Akkalkot and practised as a pleader there. Ten years after this, i.e., in 1913 he lost his only son on account of a throat disease. This broke his heart. He sought relief by making a pilgrimage to Pandharpur, Ganagapur and other holy places. He got no peace of mind. Then he read Vedanta, which also did not help him. In the meanwhile he remembered Mr.Shevade's remarks and his faith in Baba, and he thought that he too should go to Shirdi and see Baba. He went to Shirdi with his younger brother Panditrao and was much pleased to see Baba from a distance. When he went near and prostrated himself and placed a coconut before Baba with pure feeling (devotion), the latter at once cried out "Get away." Saptnekar hung down his head, moved back and sat aside. He wanted to consult somebody who would advise him how to proceed. Somebody mentioned Bala Shimpi's name. Sapatnekar saw him and sought his help. They bought Baba's photos and came with them to the Masjid. Baba Shimpi took a photo in his hand, gave it to Baba and asked him whose photo it was. Baba said that this photo was the 'Yara' (Lover) of him, pointing to Sapatnekar. Saying this Baba laughed and all others joined. Bala asked Baba the significance of the laugh and beckoned Sapatnekar to come forward and take darshan. When Saptnakar began to prostrate himself, Baba again cried "Get out." Sapatnekar did not know what to do. Then they both joined their hands and sat before Baba, praying. Baba finally ordered sapatnekar to clear out immediately. Both were sad and dejected. As Baba's order had to be obeyed, Sapatnekar left Shirdi with a heavy heart praying that he should be allowed to take darshan next time.

Mrs.Saptnekar

One year elapsed. Still his mind was not at peace. He went to Gangapur, where he felt more restless. Then he went to Madhegaon for rest and finally decided to go to Kashi. Two days before starting, his wife got a vision. In her dream she was going with a pitcher to Lakadsha's well. There a fakir with a piece of cloth round his head, who was sitting at the foot of the Neem tree, came close to her and said - "My dear lassie, why get exhausted for nothing? I get your pitcher filled with pure water." She was afraid of the fakir and hastened back with the empty pitcher. The fakir followed her. At this she was awakened and opened her eyes. She told this vision to her husband. They thought that this was an auspicious sign and they both left for Shirdi. When they reached the Masjid, Baba was absent. He had gone to Lendi. They waited till His return. When He returned, she was surprised to see that the fakir she saw in her vision, resembled exactly Baba. She reverentially prostrated herself before Baba and sat looking at him. Seeing her humility Baba was much pleased and began to tell a story in his peculiar characteristic fashion to a third party. He said - "My arms, abdomen and waist are paining for a long time. I took many medicines, the pains did not abate. I got sick of the medicines as they gave me no relief, but I am surprised to see now that all the pains have disappeared at once." Though no name was mentioned it was the story of Mrs.Sapatnekar herself. Her pains, as described by Baba, left her soon and she was happy.

Then Mr.Sapatnekar went ahead to take darshan. He was again welcomed with the former "Get out." This time he was more penitent and persevering. He said that Baba's displeasure was due to his past deeds and resolved to make amends for the same. He determined to see Baba alone and ask his pardon for his past actions. This he did. He placed his head on Baba's feet and Baba placed His hand on it and Sapatnekar sat stroking Baba's leg. Then a shepherdess came and sat massaging Baba's waist. Baba in his characteristic way began to tell the story of a bania. He related the various vicissitudes of all his life, including the death of his only son. Sapatnekar was surprised to see that the story which Baba related was his own, and he wondered how Baba knew every detail of it. He came to know that He was omniscient and knew the hearts of all. When this thought crossed his mind, Baba still addressing the shepherdess and pointing to Sapatnekar said - "This fellow blames Me and charges Me with killing his son. Do I kill people's children? Why does this fellow come to the Masjid and cry? Now I will do this I will again bring that very child back in his wife's womb." WIth these words He placed His blessing and on his head and comforted him saying - "These feet are old and holy, you are care-free now; place entire faith in Me and you will soon get your object." Sapatnekar was much moved with emotion, he bathed Baba's feet with his tears and then returned to his residence.

Then he made preparations of worship and naivedya and came with his wife to the Masjid. He offered all this to Baba daily and accepted prasad from Him. There was a crowd in the Masjid and Sapatnekar went there and saluted Baba again and again. Seeing heads clashing against heads Baba said to Sapatnekar - "Oh, why do you prostrate yourself now and then? The one Namaskar offered with love and humility is enough." Then Sapatnekar witnessed that night the chavadi procession described before. In that procession Baba looked like a veritable Pandurang (Vithal).

At parting next day, Sapatnekar thought that he should first pay one rupee as dakshina and if Baba asked again, instead of saying no, he should pay one more, reserving with him sufficient amount as expenses for the journey. When he went to the Masjid and offered one rupee, Baba asked for another as per his intention and when it was paid, Baba blessed him him saying - "Take the coconut, put it in your wife's oti (upper fold of her sari), and go away at ease without the least anxiety." He did so, and within a year a son was born to him and with an infant of 8 months the pair came to Shirdi, placed it at Baba's feet and prayed thus - "Oh, Sainath, we do not know how to redeem Your obligations, therefore we prostrate ourselves before You, bless us poor helpless fellows, henceforth let Your holy feet be our sole refuge. Many thoughts and ideas trouble us in waking and dream states, so turn away our minds from them to Your bhajan and bless us."

The son was named Murlidhar. Two others (Bhaskar and Dinkar) were born afterwards. The Sapatnekar pair thus realized that Baba's words were never untrue and unfulfilled, but turned out literally true.

Bow to Shri sai - Peace be to all

Experiences of Devotees

K. Navin Chander, India
(Originally posted in the magazine "Sai Padananda" issued Oct. 1998, published by Sri R. Seshadri for Sri Sai Spiritual Center, Bangalore, India 560 028)

It was on 3rd February 1998. I was about to complete an article on Sai Baba. I heard a sharp rap at the gate of my house. I shouted; who is there?” Promptly the reply came: "Khaana Lav" (give me food). From where I sat, I could not see him. Nevertheless, I called my wife to serve food to him. She bought rice and dhal but oddly, he did not have anything on him to receive it. My wife did not feel like serving in the plate she brought. So she came back to the house, took a small cardboard and served the fare on it outside the gate. He sat on his haunches preparatory to eating.

Meanwhile, my wife came inside to fetch water for him. It did not take a couple of minutes for her to do so. But the stranger was not to be seen anywhere. There were telltale marks of his having taken the food. He did not even wash his hands. It was impossible to eat the food, that too without water, and walk away out of sight in less than a couple of minutes.

It was then the truth hit me like a whiplash. I should have known much better when he said, "Khaana laav". It was truly a command. Even during his begging rounds sometimes, Sai Baba never begged. He simply commanded, "Lassie, roti laav". I asked my wife as to how he looked like. She said, "He was lean aged and looked like a village Muslim of the old order, with a sharp beard. He was wearing a faded green lungi with brownish checks on it and a soiled white long-sleeved kurtha with a black vest on it. His head was turbaned leaving the top crown open". Though the description did not actually tally with that of Sai Baba, I was by then more than convinced who He was. I cursed myself because the food that was served was overnight food and served on cardboard outside the gate.

Later when I slowly composed myself, I went into the pooja room and begged His pardon for my lapse. At that stage my own conscience began to reply, "Your repentance is enough for me. Keep on feeding the hungry, who come to your doorstep, as best as you can. Believe me, charity especially that of food, is indeed a great spiritual virtue"

Dasganu's plight!
It is our nature to enthusiastically share our convictions about Sai devotion with others and expect them to follow the same. Those who have seen the miracles of Lord Sai tend to wish that the grace that they have received should also be bestowed upon others. Thus, every Sai devotee is a Sai servant involving in spreading the love and message of Sai. While some indulge in Sai activities with voluntary willingness, others accomplish the same indirectly by sharing their experiences with Sai. It is natural that the good results of everyone's such actions depend on their capabilities and the extent of their involvement. However, what God wants is the true love and devotion but not the magnitude of their gross efforts! In the great epic Ramayana, the efforts put forth by the squirrel on the sand is considered equal to that of mighty Hanuman. Lord Rama looked at the specks of sands that squirrel contributed to the bridge with the same love and appreciation as that of the boulders moved effortlessly by the monkey God.

Occasionally, an intense participation in spreading God's words and involvement in such service leads some to believe that their service to Sai is superior and not those of others. This leads to feelings of jealousy and hatred amongst Sai children eventually leading to their spiritual downfall. Only Lord Sai, the merciful Sadguru can save those from such eventuality.

Once, Dasganu Maharaj had to face a similar situation. The one that inspired thousands of listeners through his spellbinding Sai gospel, Dasganu was averse to one particular female devotee in Shirdi Village. He used to criticize her in others' presence, some times in a very acrid tone. Once, as Dasganu was indulging himself in such a deplorable act, Sainath Maharaj summoned Dasganu and chided him for his behavior. Baba scolded Dasganu that people involved with God's work must not possess arrogance and that Dasganu should seek forgiveness at the feet of the woman devotee who was the subject of Dasganu's contempt. It was not easy for Dasganu, the most revered kirtankar of his times who commanded respect from his followers, to scoop down and fall at the feet of a woman. However, he had to obey the Great Master and in the process he was reformed to a humble servant of God and not an arrogant apostle who thought himself to be superior to others!

Sai Devotee
Sai vichar of Jan 23 moved me very much after reading Sai sister's letter from Canberra. Glad that she shared it with other devotees. Sai will always help in the utmost time of need.Patience and perseverence are his special teachings. He will prove his presence when he feels that it is the right time to whole heartredly realise him. This is not a general statement but from personal experiences as well.

My wife and I are doctors who came to UK in june 2002 for higher studies or work. No success with any application for various jobs along the entire length and breadth of the country. My visa was to expire on dec 7th and my wife's on dec 25th,2002. We had no job until then, pressure mounted, tension headaches for my wife and sleepless nights for me (at home people make fun of me for such great tendency to fall asleep easily). In the cold UK weather I used to get up at 3-5 am everyday when the whole neighbourhood was dark and the sunrise was not earlier than 7 am. Not knowing what to do I read few chapters of Satcharitra everyday. Sai was testing us really. He showered his blessings to give my wife a job first ,so I became a dependent on her and our stay in UK for the next year was sorted. Then Baba graced me with a job in another 3 weeks time. Patience and perseverence were truly his lessons.Henceforth I request all Sai devotees to hold HIS feet and never doubt HIM. Who can if HE cant? Jai bolo Sri Sainath maharaj ki jai.

K. Varadarajan
We started to Shirdi by 05:30 am, enjoying the trip by site seeing and talking on various matters. When we reached Shirdi about 09.00 am we entered the hall and started moving through the queue thinking that we will reach the prayer within some time. But it took more than 4 hours to arrive at the main hall by when my daughters were feeling tired. Particularly our younger daughter became nervous, almost exhausted. She did not say but we felt she was not happy anymore to worship or remain even half an hour. Somehow we managed and finished the darshan and came out. We felt so much about the darshan we had and also the way, the authorities had arranged the darshan system, etc, we even praised them. On our way home I was telling my wife that I have to visit Shirdi again if things go ok. Next morning, my wife casually narrated about the Shirdi trip with our landlord at Pune who was living upstairs of my daughter's residence. Within a few minutes, the landlord called me and said that he had arranged a trip to Shirdi and I should come with him. I was stunned and surprised. I was enjoying his words and told, "yes" to him. Accordingly, next day at 3 am we started to Shirdi..Oh, Baba, what was your mercy! He gave His darshan within 15 min. from the time of our arrival there at Shirdi. I couldn't believe myself what's going on. I could standing in front of him for any number of minutes I liked. How graceful He was and is. The same daughter was told that she had fever, which should be attended immediately and that she should continue medicines for the next 6 months. I prayed to Shirdi Baba and also made my daughter consume the medicines regularly. Normally she was not very much keen on taking proper food or medicines, but after the visit to Baba's place she is very regular and she completely recovered from all illnesses.

Sai Devotee
Blessed are the people who have heard, read or experienced mother Baba. It is difficult to pinpoint when Baba's blessings and love has not touched me because I have felt his love at all corners of life. I was born with his blessings as my mother had on a visit to Shirdi when she was pregnant with me, prayed that if she had a daughter she would bring her(ie me) to Shirdi for darshan. That was 31 years ago and we were, due to one reason or the other not able to fulfil this prayer. Two years back I came to Gulf and that made it even more impossible for us to go as I could visit my hometown only once a year. But as they say, nothing is impossible if Baba wills.

On my last visit to India, as though by the push of an invisible hand, we were able to make arrangements to go to Shirdi. I understand what the other devotee said about tears flowing when we see Baba's beautiful statue. The feeling is indescribable. On route our trip to Shirdi, in the train we encountered a person carrying Baba's photo. When a station came, this person got down and placed the photo of Baba in front of our compartment, outside our window itself. Had better way of showing us that we had his blessings. We needed vibhuthi to be brought to Gulf. Even though they were only distributing one packet per person, I got extra packets. All these years I wanted to go to Shirdi and always wondered when he will call me. This trip was my kasi yatra. My family's sins were washed away. Baba continue to place your loving hand on us. Please help my uncle who is suffering from cancer and my friend who has been in coma for the past two years. Whenever I am depressed or sad I read the Sai Satcharita and I immediately feel peace. It is my bible. I came to know about Sai Satcharita after coming to Gulf. I am really thankful to my colleague, who introduced me to this. Today my entire family has a copy. Thank you Baba.

I am a devotee of Sai Baba since many years. Whenever I have prayed to him, he has always showered his blessings on me. Since few years, I have been trying to sell my property in India. This time I prayed to Lord Sai to help me. There were few days left for me to come back to USA. And I was very much worried. Before coming I went to Shirdi and prayed to Sai Baba, on the next day I had a buyer who was ready to buy and give money in few days. I was so happy with tears in my eyes that I have no words to describe my Lord Sai's grace.

I am very much devoted to Shirdi Saibaba. I often read Sai Satcharitha. One day when I was reading in the book, it was written that whoever prays whole-heartedly for Sai Baba to visit their house that would happen. He may come in any form. So, I prayed Sai whole-heartedly with great devotion to visit my house in India. Believe me it happened after two or three days of my prayer. One man with Sai's photo came home begging. My mother went to give him some rice, I was inside my house. I just looked outside who it was, then I found a man with Sai's photo standing in front of my house. I ran to touch Sai's feet in the photo. When I was touching Baba's feet, the person with the photo smiled at me as if " you asked me to visit your house see I have come". After that, the person left my house in a few seconds. I went outside to see the photo again. I could find no one there. I went and searched the whole street I could not find him. In a few seconds, he should be in the next house or 2, 3 houses after, right! So, I thought that Baba himself visited my house in person. I really felt very happy. It was a very nice experience for me. Like this, I had so many experiences in which Baba saved me from so many troubles.

Sai devotee
Thank you Lord, You are so kind, as a kind mother you have given me what I asked for. I had sent a prayer to You through Sai Vichaar and took a vow that I would be writing if it comes true and today I am writing, thanking you for the favor. But Baba please bless me in my new job. I do not know how I will manage but I have faith in you.

Subhadra
Baba would also refer to the sounding of the drum of the beginning of eternity within the soul. This "aahat" sound emerged from Baba's heart, from every limb, every bone and pore of his body. It was permeated with divine essence and Baba claimed that though one day his physical body will not exist, his remains will communicate from the grave. Therefore, the most important place in Shirdi, is Baba's temple - the Samadhi Mandir, is his grave, which literally millions have visited and still.

Om Sai Ram. Dear baba thank you for answering my prayers. I had lot of problems publishing my research in scientific journals. There were always few reviewers who were skeptical about my contributions to the science. Review process lasted about year and half and were rejected. This was major blow to my academic career. With only by Baba's grace, we resubmitted the paper again and it was accepted in the premier journal. Shri Sai Maharaj please accept my prayers for helping me achieve the milestone.

I started feeling Baba's presence in my life 4 years ago. I want to share a recent experience. I am moving to a new home and in that process I wanted to sell the current home. My down payment for the new home is based on the profit I make in the current home. I prayed to Baba saying Please send me a good buyer for a reasonable rate. The day before selling I got a dream in which Baba assured me Don't worry about the house Every thing will be ok. On the day of the open house, I went to Baba Temple and read Satcharitha and then I went to my friend's house still being tense about my property sale. There was a surprise waiting for me. My friend gave me a Baba Calendar. He told me that he went to an expo and when he saw the Baba calendar there, he immediately thought about me and got it for me. Baba appeared second time in front of me to assure that he was there for me. I am very happy to say that I got a contract the next day for a reasonable amount and eventually it so happened that the closing date for my new home is on a Thursday.

Sai devotee
Dear Sai, thankyou very much for the abundant blessings showered on me. Thanks for giving me this job right in time when my family needed the most. Please bless us all to keep complete faith in You. Bless me to deliver this baby hail and healthy Baba.

My Experiences with Shri Sai Baba (May 1984) V.K.Thakur  leedharart

My wife, accompanied by a neighbouring lady, reached the maternity home in
the Taxi. I followed the Taxi on a Scooterette, On the way, I had been
praying to 'Baba' for help to my wife, who was in quite serious condition,
owing to severe pain.

After 3 minutes of reaching the maternity home, she delivered a male child.
Thus 'Baba' heard my prayer, and extended timely help.
This incident occurred in July '71, I was returning from my office. On the
main road of M. P. Electricity Board, there are 'C’ Type Residential
Quarters where there is a blind turning on account of the Quarters
constructed in round shape. While overtaking a bullock cart there a 'Leyland
tractor trolly' came on the way speedily from the front, leaving very
marginal distance and my scooter came in between these two. I applied the
brake, but it had failed.

I don't know how I could be saved at this crucial moment. When I stopped my
scooter, and took a clear breath, I saw that Baba's locket fixed in the key
ring, installed in the ignition hole of the scooter, was separated from its
original place and was lying on the foot-board of the scooter. I am very
sure that the locket was tightly fixed in the key ring and how it came out
of it was a question. 'Baba’, who saved me, can only reply.

In August 1977, I was admitted to M. P. Electricity Board Hospital for
treatment of low blood pressure. I came back after 'X.Ray* of 'KUB region'
at about 1 P. M., from the Medical College. I saw my wife sitting on the
bench at the hospital entrance. She was quite nervous. I asked her, whether
all was well.

She said, "Neeta, who had high temperature last night, is having urinery
trouble. She has not passed urine for the last 24 hours."
By this time I saw Dr. G. L. Goswami and lady Medical Officer Mrs. S. B.
Jain, coming hastily towards my wife.

Dr. Goswami told us that the baby was not permitting to insert tube, to
outlet the urine accumulation. If this stage continues, urinery bladder is
likely to burst. Mrs. Jain advised us to take her to the Medical College
Hospital in the ambulance.

On way to Medical College when the ambulance, stopped for fuel at the
petrol pump, I prayed to 'Baba* "What you are doing Baba? On the one
hand, I am under treatment, feeling too weak, and this baby... Baba
shower mercy on us, "kripa karo Gurudev."

I keep Baba's ‘Udi’ in my purse all the time. I dropped a little of 'Udi'
in the mouth of my daughter and also put it on her forehead, praying to
Baba, to save her.

When we reached the Medical College Hospital, the lady doctor on duty in
the emergency room listened to us patiently, and took my baby to the
attached bathroom. The baby was asked to keep her hands in water in a ‘tub’
and try to pass urine. She passed the urine without any trouble. Was it not,
that Baba's 'Udi' saved her at that crucial juncture?" Since then she has no
trouble, and is well with the blessings of Shri Sai Baba.

Sai Baba the Master  leedharart

By about 10 a.m. Baba returned from Lendibaugh and then for an hour and a
half he sat with visitors. A detailed picture of these items of Sai Baba’s
daily life are given as recorded by Khaparde in his “Shirdi Diary” in a
latter section. Sometimes, during this period, he would again go out for
another round of begging. At about noon, arti was performed by the
devotees, at the end of which Baba distributed ‘udi’ to all of them and
they left for lunch. Devotees used to get the first portions of their lunch
or some other special delicacy prepared for the occasion as offering to
Baba. Baba sometimes took the whole offering and distributed it to all and
left a little for the devotee. Along with some devotees like Bade Baba and
Shama, Sai Baba sat inside the musjid for lunch and usually curtains were
drawn for privacy for his devotees. None was expected to enter the musjid
once the curtain was lowered.

The mosque was an old mud structure in such a bad shape that now and then
some of the earth and stones used to fall off from the ceiling. One day
Baba, along with some of his devotees, was having his lunch. Suddenly a
crackling sound was heard overhead by all. At once Baba lifted his hand up
in a gesture and said, “Sabar Sabar” (i.e., “wait, wait”). The noise
stopped. When everyone had finished his meal, along with the devotees Baba
also came out. At once a huge part of the ceiling - earth, stones and parts
of the rafters fell down with a loud noise exactly in the spot where Baba
was seated earlier. Only then did every one understand that Baba said,
“Wait” to the crashing roof and it did wait.
Once Sai Baba appeared to a lady at Burhampore in her dream, standing at
her door and begging for kichadi (i.e., rice cooked with dal or pulses and
salt). Later, when her husband was transferred to Akola, they went to
Shirdi and stayed there for two months. The lady longed very much to serve
kichadi to Baba as he asked her for it in her dream-vision but for some
reason or the other she could not do so for sixteen days. On the
seventeenth day she could at last prepare kichadi. By the time she arrived
there, Baba already sat for lunch and the curtain was lowered. At first she
was a little disappointed. But soon she threw up the curtain and entred
with the offering. Precisely Sai Baba was saying that he wanted kichadi
first and the devotees were in a fix as there was no kichadi. Exactly at
the moment, the lady of Burhampore was there with it! Baba took it eagerly
and ate it. Baba wanted to demonstrate to her that the experience she had
at her home town was not just a dream, but a vision which he graciously
vouched her.

Baba - A Successful Physician (May 1984)- J. R. Laroiyi  leedharart

Baba - A Successful Physician (May 1984)

It is said that whosoever puts his feet on the soil of Shirdi his sufferings
would come to an end. This universal fact was experienced very recently by
us.

Dear readers, my wife had been suffering from throat trouble for the last
many years. It started as an ordinary 'cough & cold' problem; but it went on
increasing day by day inspite of usual medical treatment. During my service
as a pay & Accounts Officer in the Central Excise, Indore, I consulted many
physicians of repute but there was hardly any improvement. At time she was
very miserable when she could not even eat or drink properly.

Apart from the treatment from various doctors, she had to take many
precautionary steps like avoiding quite a large number food items.

Recently, when we had the invitation to attend the Annual Gathering of
Writers at Shirdi, we were in a fix whether to go or not due to her
ailment. It, however, appears that Baba issued latent instructions to
my wife, who suddenly insisted that we must attend despite her
problem. Immediately after we reached the pious city of Shirdi, both of
us presented ourselves before the lotus feet of Sai Baba and submitted
our prayer to Him to rid her of her long suffering.

Dear readers, you will be glad to know that before leaving Shirdi after the
'Summelcn,1 surprisingly, my wife felt that had no throat trouble at all.
Lest it should be only a temporary relief, we did not mention it to anybody
then and there. Will the passage of so many days now, we are able to openly
tell that she has completely recovered from her long outstanding throat
trouble. Not only that, she has since given up the various precautionary
steps and is able to take anything she normal likes to take.

The miraculous recovery is simply on account of Baba super-human
powers as a successful physician,
