Sai Baba appeared to me in my dream

  • OM SAI RAM
Last night after watching the live feed from Sai Baba's Samadhi Mandir and praying to Baba to watch over me as I sleep, I had a dream. In the dream, Sai Baba was sitting on his silver throne but it was Baba in the flesh not his idol.
He talk to me gently and said "you must submit" but his face was not angry. In fact it felt peaceful and he was smiling and reach out his hand to me! Than he showed me a big bag of beautiful white rice or grains that has been grinded down.
I know that sometimes when I am reading the Sri Satcharita, my mind is wondering to other matters and other such distractions.
Can any other fellow devotees please explain the meaning because I don't know what the bag of grains mean?

    Thank you

May Sri Sainath bless you all....

    Dear hawk,
This is truly a divine experience! You are very lucky and blessed to be guided by Baba this way :)
The reference from your dream could be related to the 'Grinding' in the first chapter of Sri Sai Satcharitra, I feel you might get your answers if you read that chapter again. In a nutshell (referenced from Sri Sai Satcharitra chapter one)-

    Philosophical Significance of Grinding

Apart from the meaning which the people of Shirdi put on this incident of grinding wheat, there is, we think, a philosophical significance too. Sai Baba lived in Shirdi for about sixty years and during this long period, He did the business of grinding almost every day - not, however, the wheat alone; but the sins, the mental and physical afflications and the miseries of His innumerable devotees. The two stones of His mill consisted of Karma and Bhakti, the former being the lower and the latter the upper one. The handle with which Baba worked the mill consisted of Jnana. It was the firm conviction of Baba that Knowledge or Self-realization is not possible, unless there is the prior act of grinding of all our impulses, desires, sins; and of the three gunas, viz. Sattva, Raja and Tama; and the Ahamkara, which is so subtle and therefore so difficult to be got rid of.

This reminds us of a similar story of Kabir who seeing a woman grinding corn said to his Guru, Nipathiranjana, "I am weeping because I feel the agony of being crushed in this wheel of wordly existence like the corn in the hand-mill." Nipathiranjana replied, "Do not be afraid; hold fast to the handle of knowledge of this mill, as I do, and do not wander far away from the same but turn inward to the Centre, and you are sure to be saved."

May Baba continue to bless and guide you always :)

    Jai Sai Ram

  • Hmm, maybe Sai Baba is telling me what I am going through in my personal life (the reason I was looking for solace in the first place) is like the grinded grains. Maybe it is my sins being grinded down with each pain that I go through but I have yet to accept it and trying to resist or control the situation instead of submitting. And the best news yet! I found a Sai Baba temple here in Singapore. I posted a message here to ask but so far no reply but today when I was going through the internet for more info on Sai Baba, I came across a site that a group a Sai Baba devotees here have set up in a hall within a temple and I can go attend the evening aarti tomorrow (THURSDAY!) Hurray. Baba knew I wants to offer prasad to his temple and I found it! OM SAI RAM. This is a leela for me.

  • Wonderful dream...

The way I would interpret it is as follows... You perhaps love baba dearly and pray to him for protection. But some how you donot submit to him like many of us... Submit means putting complete faith and knowing internally that Baba is there for us- the protector, the karma yogi our father.

He wants your love and your humble submission to his will.

The rice powder he showed you is in my opinion him grinding your sins and difficulties just like  he did to the cholera. If you submit, he will grind all that comes your way to harm you. You have soght his protection he will give it you!

The key here is a message of submission. putting to the GURU and knowing his diving form is there as a guide...

  • Thank you fellow devotees. And thanks for your explanation brother bhakta9! Yes, my mind is always wondering. Not mindful and in control of my emotions and impluses yet! Baba has my full submission. I have faith in him. And also I just read about Ram Navami which ends today(?) It seems they will change the bag of wheat that is kept in the temple yesterday! Maybe Baba is pointing the new bag of grains to me! That means I have taken his darshan!! Wow...I feel truly blessed. I heart you Baba.
    Jai Sai Ram.

  • Today (Thursday) I am happy to attend a Sai Baba evening arti for the first time. The first thing that happened when I stepped into the prayer hall was feel the tears swelled in my eyes. I felt so much emotions running through me and was so happy to see Sai Baba's idol in person. I feel blessed and hope Baba will always stay by my side to guide and watch over me. I submit myself to you my God.
