BABA'S MAYA (June 1975)

It was near midnight.    Dark and gloomy.   Chilly breezes of January   welcomed   us when our train   steamed into   Kopargaon station.   The   platform looked   deserted.   Flickering   light of the oil lamps was   peeping at us from   the corners of the platform. As the train halted, we hurried to the platform with our belong­ings.    We   came   here on   our   second visit   to  saint Sai   Baba's shrine.    It was just before independence and Seenu was an eleven year old boy, only the child of his parents   This visit is of special significance to   Seenu's parents, who had a great   desire to   have another child.    During   the last   decade they   have been   visiting numerous holy   places right   from   Kanyakumari to Kashmir and Bengal   to   Bombay.   The   middle   aged   parents   of Seenu  have prostrated before many a deity and just prayed for another child. Patiently   waiting for a reply   from God they have been visiting temples wherever the   bells tolled.   Their   fervent hope in having another child was fulfilled when they first visited Shri Sai Baba's shrine   just an   year after World   War 11.   But this  visit bore a disappointment   for   Seenu's   mother,   as she   could not have the 'darshan' of the shrine since she was on her period     The husband having come on a short leave   could not oblige the wife with an extension in   their   stay.    Seenu's   mother,   with tearful eyes and disappointed   heart   returned   home without   'darshan'.    But  this was the end of their long awaited worry.    The saint has answered their prayers and Seenu's mother bore signs of motherhood.   This visit was to give first 'darshan'   to the mother and the child.

The miracle happened. All got down on the curved plat­form hurriedly. The train puffed out. Seenu's grannie with his infant sister in her arms was still in the train, Pull the chain', 'pull the chain' shouted Seenu's father- The train gained speed and the old lady baled out of the train without pulling the alarm chain Someone snatched the baby from her arms. Seenu's father tried to give his helping hand and both slipped under the train. Some bogies were still behind and all of us waited with a heavy breath. Seenu's lean and sickly mother ran along the train and pulled out her hefty husband in the next few seconds. Then what happened to Seenu's grannie? Two more carriages were still to pass and every one of us thought that she is ‘cut'. As the complete train passed we all went with utmost anxiety to peep under the platform. 'The devil is alive', I said. The old lady stood straight and complained of no injury. What a miracle? A double miracle indeed!!

Seenu's mother was asked as to how she could pull out a 240 Ibs. hefty man within seconds and with such ease although she was weak and sickly, who in the normal course would not lift even a 10 Ib. weight with such ease.

Pat came the reply - "It is Baba's Maya".

BABA'S   BLESSINGS (September 1975)

Again as a result of inner urge, I had to visit Shirdi in 1966. But this time, I went with my family and the families of my both the brothers. We were all sixteen in number. Yet our journey and sojourn at Shirdi and Pandharpur were quite pleasant and exhilarating.

Since we went with families, we carried all articles with us for preparation of food. We spent two days at Shirdi. There­after my brother suggested that we may visit Pandharpur. Before leaving for Pandharpur, when we estimated our requirements of food provisions, we found some rice and other articles in surplus. In that area scarcity of rice was so much that it was a problem for people to secure rice even for important festivals. Having come to know about such a .situation, I offered, as a token of courtesy, surplus rice of 3 Kgs. to an attendant in the 'Maha-samadhi Mandir"; but very politely he refused to accept. Here is an example of a high sense of honesty and integrity, which employees of the Samsthan imbibed with the grace of Baba.

We reached Pandharpur. I had an inspiration of Vitthal as a result of many stories i read and bhajans I heard about ardent devotees of Vitthal. While we entered the temple, a "Pandya" approached us and guided us as to what we should do to perform Pooja of Vitthal. We purchased all Pooja material. The Pandya took us to main diety, "Vitthal", where another Pandya was already conducting Pooja by some other devotees. The moment our Pandya started conducting our Pooja, the other Pandya discontinued the Pooja and picked up a quarrel with our Pandya. There was exchange of words between both the Pandyas in utter disregard to Vitthal. Such a behaviour of the Pandyas disturbed serene mental atmosphere of the devotees present in front of the deity. All this quarrel was, I was told, about the "Daksina" to be shared by them. After Pooja, I, along with other members, left Pandharpur with a confused mind.

After 1966,   for   about   eight   years till 1974,   I could not visit Shirdi,   although I often   tried in vain to   have the darshan of Baba,    For this,   I do not find any explicable   reasons except that I had, all the while, to encounter several  vicissitudes of life. With the blessings   of   Baba I had to sail through good and bad weather.   The sense of gratitude compels me to confess that Baba always saved me   whenever I was to be   caught in a whirlpool. Instance of perilous sickness of my lone son, who had meritorious academic career, is to   the point.    My son,   who passed M. Tech in 1st division, suddenly took ill in the 3rd week of October 1972. A band of renowned medical specialists,   who spared no pains to treat him, lost every hope and became rather frustrated, as there was swift deterioration in his condition.    It was at about 2 A. M. when one of the doctors at last gave tongue to their helplessness. Then I had   nothing in this world   except the grace of Baba,   to invoke as a last resort.    Believe me, from the very moment the sign of improvement   started appearing   to   the   utter astonishment of alt the doctors.

In March 1974, I paid my overdue visit along with my son, who with the blessings of Baba, could recover by then    After we both completed   "Abhishek"   Pooja on Thursday, we went to the office of  the Receiver   to ascertain about the   feasibility for performing "Archana" and offering "Arati" on Friday.   The gentle­man in the office informed, to our disappointment, that it would not be possible for issue of tickets for "Archana" and 'Arati’ on Friday in view of the heavy rush of devotees.    Further,   he indi­rectly expressed his   mind that   we   need not   stay on Friday for such purpose.    But we stayed   as per our   programme.   The very evening,   I suddenly   fell sick.    Another   devotee   from  Bombay, finding me in a bad condition,   got me admitted to Sainath Hos­pital and helped me by all   means.    I find no appropriate words to express my heartfelt gratitude to him.    After two days of my stay in the hospital,   the Doctor   advised me   that I could  travel safely to Hyderabad.

Difficulty in getting reservation of berths at Manmad  Junction   known to   all.    But   by the   time, we   reached Manmad all the berths except only two, were already reserve, in advance. Thus we secured, with the    blessings   of   Baba, accommodation and could come back  safely.

Quite unexpectedly and to the utter surprise of all, my son got an employment in April 1974, on a temporary basis. Soon after the temporary employment was over, he got a regular employment with Baba's Blessings.

SHRI SAI’S BLESSINGS  (August 1983)

In this materialistic world everyone is after the money and none has time to think about God.  One will not face any problem or difficulty in his own life, if one has full faith on Sai Baba.  I am giving below one important event of my life.

My elder brother’s business was not running well.   He was established at Sardhana (Meerut) while I was doing my business at Muzaffarnagar (U.P).   I was doing my business at Muzaffarnagar (U.P.) I was able to recover losses in the business with Shri Sai Baba’s kirpa since 1979, so I insisted on him to visit Shirdi.   He agreed, if he would get some business with Shri Sai Kirpa.   It happened that I was able to have brick Kiln business at Muzaffarnagar for him with Shri Sai Kirpa.   It was also decided that this business will be started by the latest fixed Kiln and chimney instead of a moving chimney, keeping in view the efficiency of the latest techniques; but there was risk in the new technique of total failure it being a new one.   It happened so in one case also.   My eldest brother is a heart patient and he takes failure seriously.   I was very much worried that if the fixed chimney failed what would happen.   I was daily remembering Shri Sai Baba for his blessings.   This brick kiln work was started in September 1981 and the construction was completed in November 1981.    Firing was to start in the second week of December 1981.   Everyone was in suspense about the success of the venture except me.  I was having firm faith in Shri Sai Baba that He cannot do harm to me.   Ultimately the day came and firing was started.  In the night the firing blocked;   but with Shri Sai Kirpa the Head Mistry was saved from death.   On the next day, firing did not start.   It was at stand still irrespective of the quantity of coal consumed and the Head Mistry declared that the Chimney was a failure and that he was unable to do the work.   This disturbed all of us and everyone was upset.  I was worried about my elder brother because of his heart disease and was remembering ‘Sai Baba’ all the time with the prayer  give me some hint or clue so that I can do some thing.   I started the prayer and remained in meditation for half an hour and I went to brick kiln afterwards to watch the position.  While I was moving hither and thither, Shri Sai Baba gave me an idea that blocking of fire was due to lack of oxygen.   The Head Mistry did not agree with me.   I remained perturbed and I took decision all of sudden to pass air by opening the holes without the consent of the Head Mistry and watch the result.   The result was a miracle.   Fire started burning immediately with high flames.   I told it to the Mistry afterwards when he was happy as the problem was solved.   Since then work is going on smoothly with ‘Shri Sai Baba’s kirpa.’    In this way ‘Sai Baba’ blessed me.

THE DUMB SPEAKS BY HIS GRACE (December 1944)

It is no exaggeration to say that Lord Sai is God Incarnate. He has
performed miracles in His lifetime and after leaving this earthly life. His
devotees have had miraculous experiences in their careers and one of the
many instances is the following fact actually experienced by one of his
devotees.

Sow. Rajalakshmi, the nine-year-old daughter of Sri. T.R.S.Mani Iyer, Sri
Rajalakshmi Vilas, Kumbakonam, well known as an ardent devotee of Lord Sai,
was dumb by birth, Much dejected by this, he worshipped the Lord Sai most
fervently and found solace in Him. One day Lord Sai ordered Sri Iyer to come
to his Samadhi at Shirdi. Much exalted. Sri Iyer with his daughter went to
Shirdi on 28-3-42. They worshipped the Lord before His Samadhi; and “Lo the
girl began to cry “ Sai Baba, Sai Baba.” Is it not a miracle? Does this not
go to prove that He is the incarnation of God?

The girl is now studying in the school and there is now a veritable
improvement in her speech. Greatly rejoicing at the mercy of Lord Sai, Iyer
is daily offering pujas to Him in his house at Kumbakonam and of late he
performed three Laksharchanas to Sri Sai Baba.

In May 1944, he again went to Shirdi to attend the Sri Ramanavami
celebration and paid homage to Lord Sai by presented Benares Silk shawl
worth about Rs.500 and also a silver lamp (Kuthivikkulu) to the height of
his daughter costing nearly Rs.400. His extreme faith in Him and ardent
devotion to Him manifested as above, have attracted many more devotees to
His doors at Shirdi. Puja as done at Shirdi, is being performed at his
residence at Kumbakonam daily.

Mastergaru explained in detail that Parayana of Guru Charitra is very important if one wants to know how one can do Guru seva. Parayana of Guru Charitra and Sri Sai Leelamrutam helps us to get blessings from Datta Swamy.

As Master garu said many devotees had the fortune of Datta Sakshatkar and Mukti through parayan of Guru Charitra. Few devotees had the blessings from Datta avatars though dreams where Datta Swamy has shown devotees the real Sadguru's.

Master garu also mentioned it is very difficult for people to get Guru Krupa as many do not have the spiritual maturity. Baba has shown us the way to get that maturity which in turn helps to get his blessings ie through parayana of "Guru Charitra".

Baba made KushBhav Thakre to do Guru charitra Parayana 108 times. Sathe, HemadPanth also got Baba's blessings through Guru Charitra Parayana as Master garu said.

Mastergaru also mentioned it's his own experience that Guru Charitra Parayana gifted him with Mahatma's Darshan and Sadguru Krupa.

In 2004, Baba blessed our Satsang members with Mastergari Books that includes Sri Leelamrutam and Guru Charitra. With all the devotion, all our Sai Bandhu's are doing Parayana of both the books consistently for the last few years and share their experiences about Sai Leela's.

This year Baba has been showing us that he is with all of us through many of his Leela's.

Let us share with you all about a recent Saileela happened to our satsang members.

One recent Saturday, we were all invited to a baby shower of one of satsang member. They are pious couple and did Guru Charitra Parayana. While going to the dinner, Sailaja asked Baba to come to the dinner to the place where the baby shower was arranged.

The Baby Shower starts at 7.00PM. Uttam asked Pallavi before they left the home to attend Baby Shower, whether she is arranging dinner to Baba. She said we would offer when we are going to have dinner at the Baby Shower party.

At the party Sailaja forgot to offer the dinner to Baba. Later after coming back to home, she realized her mistake and asked Baba for forgiveness.

Monday morning she got a call from her sister who resides in New Jersey and during the normal chat, she narrated a dream she got on Saturday night. The dream is as follows…

She went to Baba’s temple with her husband and prayed Baba. Before they were about to return her husband felt that Baba is coming out of the statue. He told the same to his wife. Both of them got stunned to see Baba coming out of the statue. They were thinking whether it’s true or not. Baba came out and asked them “I want to attend a dinner at 8 PM. Can you drop me there? The person who invited me, did not turn up.”. They said yes, definitely but she was feeling nervous seeing him in person so close. She asked whether Baba wants to sit in the front seat. Baba asked her to sit in the front seat and sat in the back seat. She was totally nervous and scared to turn her head and look back at Baba. She could notice Baba was chatting with her husband.

They reached a place, Baba got down from the car and asked them to follow him inside and have dinner there. Baba led them in to the basement where lot of men were having chat.. No one over there could see Baba and they were just having their conversations. Baba just walked pass them and entered into the idol . The couple were just wondering about Baba’s ride back. Then a tall person came to them and said ‘Don’t worry. I will give Baba a ride back’.

Sailaja by hearing about this dream from her sister, got stunned and speechless because she invited Baba but forgot to offer the dinner. But He took all the pains to catch a ride through her sister and came to the party at the exact time for dinner. All descriptions mentioned in the above dream are exactly matching to the venue where the party was arranged. The Baby Shower and dinner were in the Basement and her sister had no prior idea about the party or the venue as she lives in NewJersey and the party was in Southborough.

When all the satsang members shared this SaiLeela they concluded that this is all Saileela

1) To bless the couple who have done Saptaha’s of Guru Charitra.
2) To take dinner from Sailaja and Pallavi who invited Baba before they left their homes.
3) To prove that He will be there when the devotee welcomes whole-heartedly whether the devotee remembers or not.
4) To remind us all that whenever you are eating anything, anywhere remember to offer first to Baba.


There is one question unanswered at that moment which none of us imagined ie

Sailajagaru forgot to offer the food to Baba in the party. But Baba came all the way to the party at 8PM. What happened to Sailajagari vow?

We pray Baba to let us share about another Sai Leela soon..

Here I would like to share one Baba leela with you.
This happens to my friend Uma. She resides in Khammam - AP.

Every morning she do Leelamrutham parayana and goes to Office, 2 months back she applied for a new job at vijayawada.
On interview day she comes to Vijayawada and missed to bring Parayana Book with her.
Totally 80+ members are applied for that job. At the time of interview she is feeling for her negligence and paying Baba to get success in the Interview.
Suddenly one person kalyani who came for interview picks SaiLeelamrutham from her bag and starts reading. Fortunately she sits besides Uma!

Uma felt very happy and asked her the book and closed that day's parayana!!
If we really wants to do Parayana then definately BABA comes to us.
(Nuvvu naa vaipu oka Adugu vesthe Nenu nee vaipu 10 Adugulu Vesthanu)

Final word : Totally 4 members are succeded in the interview, Uma is one of them, where as kalyani was not selected!!

Dear Blessed Sai Devotees ! Om Sri Sai Ram !!

Though I  am blessed with innumerable experiences / leelas of Sai personally, I would like to share the latest with you all.

Recently I went to Srisailam  ( Andhra Pradesh) – known as Dakshina Kailasam to take part in Lalitha Laksha Archana along with two of my friends which we have been planning to attend since May 06. The  Family who have performed this pooja fixed it on Aswayuja Pournami – 07.10.06.
I prayed to Sai that ,

a)   My husband should permit me for this since it takes five days including the journey time.
b)   He should finance my trip whole heartedly.
c)   My daughter’s exams should not clash with the trip dates (otherwise my trip will be cancelled)
d)   My health should permit me by all means till I come back i.e., till 10.10.06
e)   My two friends who accompanied me should be satisfied since I was leading the trio of us.
f)   Baba should be with me throughout the trip and make it a grand success.

The day we were to start, my return journey was to be rescheduled via Hyderabad since there was a good news and I was to attend a function in my Sis’ place (Hyd) on 08.10.06 evening and  take a train on  9th noon to reach back my home on 10th morning  and my friends would go back direct from Srisailam. Though, there were some teething problems everything went on extremely well and all the three felt Baba’s presence at every stage.

The host family as planned Rudra Homam the same day i.e., 7th Oct after the Lalitha laksha archana from 4 pm to 11.30 pm. So I planned  to leave for Hyd’bad on 08 th morning to attend the evening part of the function. After the Pooja( Laksha Archana) on 7 th noon, while we were having our prasad –lunch, suddenly something has started driving me to leave for Hyd. And I did not know how to express this to my friends since I myself was not knowing the reason.

I was becoming restless. Finally I told my friends my consfusion that I should rush to Hyd and I would  check up the availability of bus soon after we finish lunch. They were shocked and told me to stay for the Homam , sticking  to the original plan but in vain.

We came to the room. They said we ‘d check the bus availability, come back to the room and take my luggage. I initially nodded but within a minute, unknowingly packed my luggage and said I can board the bus if available instead of coming back all the way – actually the room is hardly in a 2-3 minute walk from bus stop.

I continued to be restless till we reached the bus stand and from a distance we saw a bus  to Hyd ready to leave. It was 3.00 pm then and that should be the last bus if I can board since other buses would reach Hyd only after 11.00 pm which is not safe.

I apologized and thanked my friends ( they were very supportive to me ) and boarded the bus and reached my Sis’ place by 10.15 pm and learnt that they were badly in need of me for assistance since both the proposed functions would be in the morning of 8th itself. But they did not want to inform me since it disturbs my Pooja schedule.

Adding to this, after I reached my home my friends told me that the Homam which I thought I missed was postponed due to some reasons and that I did a right thing in leaving for Hyd.

Had I stayed back in Srisailam, I would have missed the function at Hyd and the Homam as well and  my Sis would have faced a lot of inconvenience due to my absence.

Baba has rescheduled my programme to my best and benefit.

The Day I Lost 'My Baba'!

I start each day with seeing Baba in my cell, wishing Him good morning and kissing Him, singing His songs, and thinking of Him all the time and doing His puja with Him on my mangalsutra.(one Sai devotee from India sent me a small silver pendant of Baba to put on a chain, and I added Him on my mangalsutra with a small gold color safety pin).

I leave Him on my mangalsutra at His Lotus Feet of Palarathi Idol (He looks so loving and handsome with a gold color kireetam and a grand garland around Him) on my dresser when I go to work. He came from Shirdi to come into our own house!

I have on my cell phone Baba's picture and I call my cell as 'my Baba'. I take 'my Baba' everywhere I go. On last Rakhee day, I was working; and when I was closing the register at Macy's, my mom called me and I told her that I was coming out of work so I would call her from the car, and being in a hurry to go somewhere else, I put 'my Baba' on the counter and walked out, completely forgetting Him. The time was 7 p.m.

As I started the car, I looked for 'my Baba' and couldn't find Him anywhere, in my purse or in the car. I felt a sharp knife in my heart and as if I lost everything, including my heart and felt a big black hole inside, completely empty. I ran frantically into the work place and started asking everyone if they saw my cell. Then I remembered I put Him on the counter and ran there, only to find the counter empty. I asked another employee if she saw my cell. She said no. Then I saw two Chinese women walking towards me from the fitting rooms, and one lady said to me, "here is your cell phone, I saw it here and thought of giving it to someone". My heart jumped a beat as I looked at 'my Baba' in her hands, I took it and hugged her and said: " may God bless you both" and went to my car. I started thinking... I lost 'my Baba' and that Chinese woman took it knowing it's not hers but Baba made her come back and give it to me. I thanked Baba for coming back to me and opened 'my Baba' and kissed Him. My heart felt normal...

At home my daughter was getting ready to tie Rakhee to her brother and wore a saree and was looking for a safety pin on my dresser and saw a small gold color pin and felt that was too small so she took another regular sized safety pin from a box. When I came home and after my shower took my mangalsutra to wear for His puja, I was shocked to see He wasn't on my mangalsutra. Baba's pendant was still on the dresser near His palarathi idol. I felt a sharp pain in my heart and looked at Baba and said " Oh no Baba , You are not leaving me," and saying so I took Him and looked for the gold color safety pin, and it was next to the idol and the pin was closed! I just took Him and put Him back on my mangalsutra and went to do His puja.

I was thinking someone in my home wanted a safety pin so took out Baba and took the pin but changed their mind and left it there.

Later during dinner, I casually asked my husband if he took the safety pin holding Baba on my chain. He said no. I asked my son, he also said no. But my daughter told me that she went to my room, looking for a safety pin and took a big one but not the small one. She also said she saw the gold pin next to Baba's idol at the same time. I got curious and asked her at what time. She said exactly at 7 pm! Then it struck my matti burra, that at my work I lost 'my Baba' at 7 pm and at home too He went away from my mangalsutra at exactly 7 pm too! What can I say?
