My Contact with Sai and Narasimha Swamiji

It was during the Second world war around 1946. One Baba's framed photo arrived at my house thanks to my father. I was then a boy of eight years. My mother was performing puja to the photo with devotion. At that time neither my father nor my mother knew much about Baba except that he was a saint. I can easily remember that I had a small pocket size of Sai's black and white picture. Once I dropped it into a locked drawer of an unused table in my school through a crevice, while I was playing with the picture by inserting it through a narrow fissure, in the presence of two classmates. In those days, we were greatly afraid of our teachers and so we did not reveal this to anybody. Months passed and I had completely forgotten it. One day, my teacher showed it to all of us in the class saying that he got the picture when he cleared the unwanted materials from that drawer. Then I claimed that it was my own. As my other two classmates also supported my claim the picture was duly returned to me. That is all my early remembrance of our Sai. After that I hardly remember how both the big and small photo of Sai disappeared from my house. All those happened before 1950. Thereafter, we lost touch with Him due to our ill luck except between 1964 and 65 when I came under the influence of Basheer Baha.

After nearly thirty years, Baba appeared in my house in the form of a coloured and framed photo as a "gift from a Sai devotee after his visit to Shirdi. I was induced to Sai worship by my dear friend Sri Kallapiran, a great Sai devotee whose Bhajans are ever a source of inspiration to us. I was drawn to Him by my own initiative. This was roughly around 1980. From then on, myself and my family members are close to Him. We were fortunate to visit Shirdi on Mahasamadhi day in the year 1983 as guests of Dr. G. G. Dabolkar whose father's biography on Sri Sai Baba 'Sai Satcharitha' has become our family Bible. We usually read that book and complete it in seven days when we face some problems. We read it on every Baba's Mahasamadhi eve. Dr. G. G. Dabolkar was also doing it ~ till his end. So myself and my family are under the protection of Sainath Maharaj whose torch of guidance is extended to every field of our activities. We visit Baba's mandir frequently.

In 1980, when we stepped into Baba's temple for the first time at Mylapore, we increased our knowledge of Pujya Shree Narasimha Swamiji, the Founder-President of the All India Sai Samaj. Sri Kesava Rao', suggested that I must study the life of Sai Baba written by Narasimha Swamiji and Sai Satcharitra. Reading of Swamiji's master-piece "The Life of Sai Baba" which is saturated with devotion towards Baba and reveals Baba's impartial love to all beings, will elevate us to spiritual heights. It is an immortal literary master piece which carries the spiritual mission of Baba to the future generation.

The one most important fact to remember about morals and Baba is that Baba did nothing which he did not preach. Love for the Guru, love that knows no bounds of time, place or circumstance and love that sacrifices anything and every thing at its altar. Gratitude, service, equality, justice, consideration and so many other good qualities that were in him and taught by him were the direct issue of this love and could not have all been sustained without this love. This is the central point to remember about Baba. 'Apana, Sarika Karitat Tatkal' says Tukaram of gurus. The sishya grows in love, absorbs the love from the Guru and returns it with all his soul and body, and does not consider himself as anything except as the lover and the beloved of the Guru. Thus he attains moral perfection, spiritual perfection, perfection of Siddhis and perfection of every sort; This is the natural result of Babas moral teachings.
