Dear Dr. Vishwanathji thanks for appreciation. At many instances SHREE SAI BABA explained his devotees that Guru Charitra should be read slowly and not to read it in speed to complete the saptah. In fact Guru Charitra should be read word by word, was emphasized by SHREE SAI BABA.
Once when Mr. Sathe finished the reading of Guru Caritra in one saptaha (seven days), Baba gave him a vision that night. It was to this effect: Baba with Guru-charitra in His hand was explaining its contents to Mr. Sathe, who was sitting in front and listening carefully. When he woke up, he remembered the dream and felt very happy. Kakasaheb Dixit asked SHREE SAI BABA “Deva what is the message of the dream”.
Then Baba replied - "He should make one more saptah of the book; if the work be studied carefully, the devotee will become pure and will be benefited, the Lord will be pleased and will rescue him from the bondage of the mundane existence."
Hence it means that if we want to understand complete Guru Charitra, we must understand it word by word while we read and this reading is to be done in slow pace. If we read faster than the grasping power of the mind, words overlap each other and brain fails to understand all that is read.
Mr. V.H.Thakur was reading "Vichar-Sagar" of Nischaldas and was blessed by Kanarese Saint (Appa). Baba said to him, "What Appa told you was all right, but these things have to be practiced and lived. Mere reading won't do. You have to think and carry out what you read, otherwise, it is of no use. Mere book-learning, without the grace of the Guru, and self-realization is of no avail".
The grace of Guru can be acquired by following way: Before starting to read Guru Charitra one must pray to SHREE SAI BABA, that I am reading this Guru Charitra please make me understand it word by word.
