The chit method

In Saicharitra many times the chit method is used to come to a conclusion

How many of you do it in real life and follow it religiously.

What is the correct method of using it and what if the answer is NO and still your mind says you must do it? or vice versa.


Will appreciate if any saibhakt will be able to reply to me.

Make you mind stable by doing Chanting or Meditation.Also its very important that during chanting or mediatation we have to get detached to the question or answer or the problem or solution.When any such thing arise in the mind during meditation say Sainath Arpan Astu.Do It Untill and unless there is no resistance from the solution or problem doubts in mind or u r detached from solution or problem.Mind is Peaceful and Still Now.

Also u need to have full faith on the chits.U need to see Sai in the chits and as if Sai is answering in the form of chit.Surrender totally to chit without thinking of question and answer.Then pick the chit without any preconceived answer in the mind and as if u have no problem with total surrender to Baba.Just pick like u pick any other thing without being attach to it.

If you want a perfect answer then total surrender is necessary.Totally dependent on Sai.As if u are nothing.

If the answer is not as u wanted or mind wanted then don't try again to get the answer by again picking the chit.If  u do then it shows ur lack of faith on Baba.If u already new the answer then why did u try the chit method.

If u did not get answer u wanted then ask Baba for explanation.He will definately reply.Have 100% faith. NO doubts.

Baba always has better plan for us which our ignorant mind cannot conceive.

Surrender totally mind and body at Baba's lotus feet.

Sai is beyond Mind but inside our body more closer than our Breath.So making mind still is necessary.

If mind has become still during the meditation itself then u get flash answer in the mind.Then no need of chits.It is better to go for internal method then to go for external method like chits.

Mind works on the habitual pattern of thinking so we want a habitual answer.So that it satisfies the mind as well as ur ego.If the answer is not as per our ego or mind then it will resist.

Still mind,full faith and total surrender is the only formula for getting Sai as well as the answer.

Dear All, Sai Ram

The Dharma, customs, traditions, practices, beliefs, manners exhibited, rules and regulations for leading a dharmic life, pooja styles, Mantras chanted ... everything varied from Yuga to Yuga, Kalpa to Kalpa - if one throws a little light on our Puranas.

But, in the age of Kali, the change is so rapid that, I am hardly aware of even my grany's practices. Reasons may be many and justifying too.

In such a age, SSC, gives us a universally acceptable and moreso practicable set of guidelines. There is absolutely no doubt in this.

In the SSC it self it is mentioned about the chits and it is Bhagavadgita for us.

When do we resort to chits ?

1. When we are confused between two options or more
2. When we want something but not sure whether that does good to us
3. When we want something but sure that it may land us in a loss
4. When we are forced to do something and we are not for it
5. When we want to escape on the pretext that Baba too is with us in our decision ( let us honestly accept this)
6. When we want Baba's support to proceed on a thing with full confidence

This way, several things can be enlisted.

The answer that is got from the chits does mainly one thing that is boosting your confidence and strengthening faith in Baba.

Make two chits (yes and no). As my brother Pravin ji has beautifully explained above, with full faith and determination to follow whatever Baba tells us, one chit be picked up (either blind folded or asking a small child to pick up or pick up keeping your eyes closed or whatever way you feel like) and just follow it. Since, it is done with total faith, the question of likes and dislikes of the answer will not arise and shall not arise.

Yes thanks a lot i too was distrubed since i wanted to do something and the chit said NO and i was thinking why NO and my mind was not at peace at all therefore i came here and put up the question.

Sai has all the threads of our life in his hands, today morning i was very upset with Sai and told him i will not come to the forum today but yet see how he brought me here not once but many times.

Though my mind is still at unrest that
why Sai said No and
why that what happened with me why it happened.

Postingji your words are so full of wisdom.

 one more question is hovering in my mind that is many times in full faith we have done as the chit has said but that too then later has been proved wrong why does that happen?

If  a devotee in full faith is asking his Lord for guidance and acts according to the reply by the Lord then if that is proved wrong then why is Lord giving wrong guidance or answer.

Can anyone give me a reasonable answer to this.

When we ask from Sai,it already done.This is full faith and total surrender.

What do we call full faith?

Full Faith means we are nothing and Sai is everything.We are just Katputli or dolls in his hands but because of ego or mind we will never accept.When we accept this in mind than we have full faith and total surrender.

The person with full faith is every moment with Sai by body and mind.

We are not body nor mind.But we think we are mind and body.Until we stop thinking we are body and mind we will not have full faith.Mind and body are the only barrier for reaching Sai.When we start giving less important to body,mind and worldly things then we will Surely get Sai.

Sai is beyond Mind but inside our body(real Shirdi temple of Sai) more closer than our Breath.So making mind still or steady is necessary.

To meet Baba u don't have to go to unreal Shirdi temple but the real Shirdi temple inside u.

When u chant have a feeling that Sai is chanting from inside the temple(body) and listen to him with surrender heart and mind concentrating on each word of mantra.Then mind will become peaceful or steady and u will stop thinking urself as the body.

Full faith and total surrender comes with peaceful or steady or egoless or thoughtless mind.

Full faith will not come with wavering mind or chanchal mind.

So what u call is full faith is not full faith because u had full faith u could not have taken to chit method.U could solved this problem using internal method using direct connection with Sai who is nearer than our breath but we identify Sai only in idols or pictures or in Shirdi.He is so near yet so Far.

Whatever guidance u are getting is not from Sai but from ur mind.You are too dependent on Mind or ego then Sai.

Disturb mind never gives correct decision or guidance.

Sai never gives wrong guidance or answer sitting inside Dwarka Mai(our body) but it is the mind or ego that is giving wrong Guidance or answer.Stop identifying urself with mind.

You really need to do lot of mediatation or Japa to make ur mind steady.Prayers,mechanical SSC reading and doing useless rituals will not help you to know the practical truth.It will fulfill material dreams but not spiritual ones.

Read SSC but teaching of SSC should become pratical in our life.

Having disturb mind is not Good.Please get out of this habit.Please ask Sai peace of mind then for material things.

Dear Saibeti JI,

I would like to share with one experience of mine by following the Chit method

After we came to Chennai we decided to buy a house in Chennai, and the prices were soaring very high in most of the Prime locations.  And within our budjet we could find a house interior of Porur (its very far)  and we thought  of buying the house there,   my husbands friend also was planning to buy there.  But I was confused and was not 100% ok  for buying the house, something was telling me not to go ahead.  Then I discussed with my husband and told him that we will put two chits to BABA, one Chit saying Go ahead and the other chit Wait  and I told my husband that we will have to abide to whatever Sai Says, he also agreed.  I asked my son to take and it and it said Wait, we decided to wait.  Meanwhile we were getting calls from my Husband’s friend and the builder to buy this house, but I told my husband a Sure NO.  Then within few days, we found a house (not as far as PORUR).  A very good house, at a very good rate and Iam sure if I taken up the house in Porur we would have faced lot of difficulties, in fact one bank even refused to give Loan to my husbands friend stating some problem with the site. 

BABA really saved us from this. Thanks SAI.

And more than this when we went for the registration baba blessed us. In Chennai BABA Bandi comes, a person takes around baba’s photos in a Cycle, Till that date I have never seen that near my house.  And exactly when I stepped out of my house for registration this Bandi came and it was a great blessing from him for us.

If wehave belief and faith in BABA, BABA will always do things only for our good.

Even though on wednesday when i asked sai a question in the chit he said NO to me in the chit my mind was not willing to accept the No though of course i did not do any action i kept quiet for sai had said so i but all the time i was thinking that why Sai does not want me to take action the whole day i spent thinking WHY WHY WHY and the next day was thursday and the same person whom i was upset at with at work himself told me 'what is the problem, you look distracted'' first i said no nothing but dont know what happened i blurted out what i wanted to say- and that person gave me the answer and i was soooo releived hearing his answer and was completely okay.

After that i was thinking Sai had told me NO but still i went ahead did i do wrong? Thinking later i thought my mind was always telling me Yes but i still went ahead with the chit method, and Sai was telling me in my mind Yes but not listening to my inner voice i took out the chit.

And see the coincidence since yesterday i have been thinking that Sai is sending me message through postingji and today i read that she says that listen to your mind why go for external methods.

Sai is in our inner soul/heart and mind and is guiding us we only have to listen and feel carefully.

OM SAI RAM, THIS is a good post for many doubts to be cleared. As Kavita ji had explained we have so many queries so we resort to this method. We ( our family ) is following this practice for a very long time. Even if things are very simple and we are in confusion, we leave it to our HOLY FATHER to give us an answer.

An incident to narrate this: A very large group of friends with their families had gathered at a funtion, as a part of outing many of the group wanted to go out o restaurant for Dinner. (most of the families very SAI DEVOTEES) As it was not our own city, each one suggested one place, kids according to their choice, menaccording to their budget and so on. Lastly some children even started crying thinking that the outing itself be cancelled. Suddently my husband intervened and said we had anyway decided to go to the NEW SAIBABA TEMPLE, so I follow the practice of CHITS, hence please allow me to ask my father and he ensured that everyone will baide by whatever BABA's decision is. TWO CHITS one to go to RESTUARANT and the other one not to go to the restaurant was written and a small boy was asked to pick the CHIT o know BABA's Decision. To utter dissappointment of the ladies BABA's decision was not to go to the RESTAURANt.

Most of the Children started crying and ladies were dissappointed because they had to prepare the dinner. However everyone of us had agreed to abide by BABA's decision. So we left to NEW SAIBABA temple.

VERY EAGER TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AT THE TEMPLE: THE TEMPLE WAS INAGURATED 48 days back and as the 48th day ceremony a big grand feast was organised by the temple committee which we were not aware as we were outseiders to the city.

WHEN BABA HAD ARRANGED SUMPTOUS DINNER WAS PREPARED BY BABA how would he allow us to go the RESTAURANT. EVERY ONe was stunned by BABA's leela and all of us were really thrilled and enjoyed eating the dinner.

CHITS ALWAYS HAS ITS DECISION THROUGH BABA, this is only one incident, I can give you hundreds of incident.

BUT never try for a better answer, nor best of 2/3 only once, even if it is negative pls take because BABA knows that something better awaits you.

Today when I was meditating,I remembered Sister Deepa's Post.She picked up the chit with the help of her Son.

Children are real Children of God unlike us.Their mind is always peaceful and without any clutter.So picking chit with their help is like Baba picking the Chit himself.

Child is the father of Man.
