One small piece of information:
Story of Late Smt. Bala Tripura Sundaramma
Smt. Bala Tripura Sundari is one of the fortunate devotees who had the darshan of both Shri Shirdi Sai Baba and Satya Sai Baba. She passed away on the 31st of Dec 2004 in Prashanti Nilayam, Puttaparthi. I had the privilege of meeting her during my stay in Puttaparthi. We enjoyed doing bhajans with her. She always used to greet us with love and answer all our questions with a lot of patience. We were fortunate to have seen the padukas given to her by Shirdi Sai Baba. Whenever anyone asked her,’Which Baba she liked most’ she would always answer “Both”. Once she narrated her story to us.
“I got married when I was 13 years old. In 1908 my husband was working as a stationmaster in Manmmad when I met Shirdi Sai Baba for the first time. He is a Shirdi Baba devotee and I never heard of Baba before that. Whenever he had holidays we used to get to Shirdi. Back then Shirdi is village and masjid is very old. We used visit whenever we could. Once Baba gave me a Siva lingam as I was thinking how can I do Abhishekam, Baba said Do whenever you can, if you cannot, at that time I will come and take the Siva lingam back from you.”
“Baba also gave me small sliver Padukas that I kept in my Puja. In 1954 my husband died when we are in Nampalli - Hyderabad. I was staying here and there. I wanted to go stay in Shirdi but lot of my relatives stopped me. One day somebody told me that Shirdi Baba incarnated as Satya Sai and in Puttaparthi and told me to go see him. I told them that he is not my “SAI”. Some of my relatives were going to Puttaparthi and took me with them. I think it was in 1965. Puttaparthi was a small village surrounded by forest, we use to take bath and wash our clothes and bring drinking water from Chitravati River. There were no specific times for darshan. Baba used to come into the balcony or walk around. I never used to bow him thinking he is not my Baba. All my relatives suggested me to stay in Puttaparthi. I told them I wouldn’t stay in this forest. And I would like to go to Shirdi instead.”
“One day I got water from Chitravati and was cooking. Satya Sai Baba came to me and asked me ‘is it true that you don’t want to be in Puttaparthi.’ I said yes. He again asked me ‘are you saying that you want to go to Shridi? Why do you want to get Shirdi when I am here? And said you think Puttaparthi is a small village? It is going to be a big city, you will see and asked me to give him the Sivaling he gave me.’
I said Siva lingam! When did you give me? I think you are mistaken. Then swami said ‘I am not mistaken, I told you that I will take the Sivaling when you are not able to do the Abhishekam. Give me the Sivaling and keep the padukas I gave you.’ I told him you did not give me the sivaligam, and what padukas?
“I said No. Swami you did not give me. ‘Did not give you? Look at my face and tell me’said Swami. Thinking why is Baba doing this in the morning, I saw his Face and I saw Shirdi Sai Baba standing before me. I could not believe myself, I was not sure whether I was dreaming or is this real. I felt so bad for not recognizing Baba all these days. Swami started laughing in form of Satya Sai. I took the Sivaling from the Puja, gave to him. He took it and left. He came back in the evening and asked when I was going to Shirdi? I went to him and bowed to his for the first time and told I am not going to leave him and go anywhere. Baba said we are constructing rooms here I will give one room to stay in. Bhagawan has given me East prashanti room B2. I can come out of the room and have swami’s darshan everyday.
When Shirdi Baba gave me the Siva linga, He gave with sliver box. Swami only took back the Sivaling. I still have the padukas and silver box in my Puja.”
After her passing, the family of Late Smt. Bala Tripura Sundaramma, have donated the Sliver Padukas of Shirdi Baba to Mr & Mrs Mahalakshmi & Panduranga Rao Malyala founders of the Temple in pittsburgh, to keep in theVeda Patasala, Shirdi sai Baba temple in Puttaparthi. - P.Malyala
