Dear Sai Sisters and Brothers.
This morning, I brought her urn containing her ashes to my hometown Taiping ( meaning peace forever in Cantonese ) from Penang to be placed in a Buddhist Temple so that she can "hear" the chanting of Amithaba 24 hours a day.
I am sure she is looking down at me lovingly with her eversmiling face from the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss!
At the time of her demise, myself , mother in law,her siblings, my sister, brother were all her bedside doing the Amithaba chanting. And there was this lovely doctor, Dr Doris who was constantly watching her vital signs using a local monitor , constantly advising me on her exit progress. I whispered to her ear not to worry about me and that the place she is going is a pure land with eternal happiness.I also told her to relinquish any unfullfilled desires that she may have and that I would fulfill her wish list she wrote earlier. Most of her wish list items were concerned with charitable work and promoting vegetarianism.
And when finally soul left at 5.28 pm on 19th Aug., her countenace was so peaceful and serene that one could mistake her for being asleep. Two hours after her demise, when the body was placed in the Funeral Parlour , she looked more beautiful than ever and everyone who saw her were equally amazed! Even Dr Doris was saying her exist was one of the calmest she has ever seen.
The Buddhist monk who conducted her final rites for 3 days ( 19th till 21st ) concurred that she left very peaceful without any materialistic desires, judging from her calmess and serene countenance. Some interesting events that took place following her demise, that defies all know laws of probabilities.......
My birthdate is 25th and hers is 27th. I have always told her that the numbers 7 and 9 are good auspicious numbers according to our holy books.and I normally select numbers for passwords and Pin numbers whose sum total would always end with a single digit 7. for eg. 9322 , sumtotal 16, single digit 7. I would always use my lucky number 7. and she too would select anything number combination that would end in single digit 7.
1. I brought her from KL to Penang on the 13th and she gave up her spirit on 19th - 7 days
2. Her hospital bed number was 7
3. Her body was cremated in incinerater chamber number 7 ( there were all 7 incinerators numbered 1 to 7 )
4. Her Urn location chamber was also numbered 7
5. Todays date is 25th and is the 7th day where the ashes are taken to be kept in the Buddist Temple .Sum total of 25 is 7
6. Her birthdate, month and year sum total is also 7 ( 27 -06 - 1966 )
7. The Buddhist temple where her ashes are kept is located just beside the school i studied which is King Edward the V11 ( 7th )
I have had a blissfull married life that would even envy the gods John albiet a short one 6 years.
There is a popular hymm in our religious text whose meaning goes like this....
GOD will readily answer any prayers to anyone seeking for wealth, happiness, health. HE will provide you anything materilaistic that you ask for BUT there is one thing that GOD will always be reluctant to give and that is LOVE, because when HE gives his love to you , HE becomes poorer! and I now realise how true that statement is. It also verily applies to mortals like us. You can loose any materialistic things , but when pure love is taken away abruptly, you become a destitute, poor, and lonely ! I am in that group right now!
One half chapter of my life is closed now What i intend to do now is to carry out the unfinished works that she couldnt do,and I will live just for that! If somewhere in time we might meet up , let it be so, that would also rekindle some happy memories too. I may come to see one of these days.
My wife is a Chinese Buddhist and I am an Indian hindu.
My two and a half months stay with her at the hospital gave me an opportunity to study more about Buddhism as there as a Buddhist temple very near the hospital. The teachings are very simple and pragmatic just like the Sai teachings.
Baba, Please forgive me for chiding you earlier because of my ignorance! Her karma did it otherwise. I also thank all the Sai brothers and Sisters for the prayers during her stay at hospital and also the atma shanti prayers after her demise. Her soul would have benefitted tremendously.!
Namo Amithaba and Jai Jai Sai.
